Read More
If your iPhone or iPad's memory still isn't full after you gorged on the various Cyber Monday and Thanksgiving deals, know this: most of the celebratory sales are still active on the App Store. In fact, we've discovered a couple more that we couldn't fit in before the holiday break. That's what this post is all about -- the leftovers. For example, Telltale Games has lowered its games' prices 55-80 percent from the usual. The savings began on November 23, but will continue until tomorrow, November 30. Arghata Studio also bashed the prices of its 1112 series in honor of our Turkey Day, and those sales are still continuing, too, well into this week. Here's a short list of some notables: Odds And Ends Agharta Studios Telltale Games Cool deals, right? As a side-note, if you feel like you've been left out of the initial extravaganza, App Shopper [Free] remains an Read More
1112 Episode 3 [$4.99/HD] is the latest addition to the graphical mystery adventure game series from Agharta Studio. It's also the best of this ongoing series, as it delivers more: More game-play, more puzzles, more characters, more locations and a whole lot more mystery. We first meet the games protagonist, Louis Everett the antiques dealer, in [$4.99/Lite/HD]. Louis bears a striking resemblance to Johnny Depp, but he's having bad dreams, marital issues and work stresses. As you help him complete his daily tasks, it becomes apparent that something weird and mysterious is going on. There's a gap in his memory which Louis can't explain, and the number '1112' seems to keep recurring in his life. This game is about solving that mystery, but don't expect a final outcome yet, as each episode concludes with a cliff-hanger ending, to entice you into the next release. After a long wait,  [$4.99/HD] was released Read More

All six of our apps that have gone free today are games, but we do have two iPad games on the list, including one that’s universal. Word Droppings ($1.99 -> Free): In this hectic word game, letters fall down the screen and you must tap on them as they pass by in order to form words.  The speed picks up as you progress, and that’s when things start to get hairy, especially when trying to defuse the bombs.  The game also contains online multiplayer over Wi-Fi or 3G. Word Droppings is available for free today only (6/4).  It currently has a four-and-a-half-star rating. War Evolved ($1.99 -> Free): Based on Age of War, War Evolved takes you on a journey through seven eras as you attempt to defend your castle from oncoming forces by unleashing units and upgrading your abilities.  The game features multiple levels of difficult and local multiplayer. The highly anticipated sequel to 1112 episode 01 (the first adventure game to be exclusively designed for the iDevice) is now finally available on the App Store. Episode 02 takes place right after the events of ep. 01, but even if you’ve yet to enjoy the first, the sequel will bring right you up to speed via carefully crafted intro sequences. ChiffaN had an exclusive hands-on preview of the game and found it to be an adventure “masterpiece”, so good that it’ll easily top 1st Person Adventure category on our App Store’s Best Adventures list. Fans of 1112 and adventure games in general will definitely want to check out episode 02. Even causal gamers will likely enjoy uncovering the mysterious circumstances behind Louis’ (protagonist) storyline. Be sure to visit 1112′s official support forums right here at TouchMyApps should you require some help advancing through the game. The long-awaited sequel to the Read More
A little over a year ago, while the App Store was void of even a single decent quality adventure game, a small independent developer called Agharta Studio released 1112 episode 01– the first adventure game to be exclusively developed from the ground up for the iPhone. The project came to fruition through the hard work of a small team led by Alexandre Leboucher and got high praise from critics all across the board (including an honorable mention in our The App Store’s Best Adventure). It was stylish, beautifully drawn and had an original storyline and puzzles to back it all up. Despite the original promise of a sequel in about 4 month’s time, the team decided to take a little detour to make the excellent Rogue Planet, which messed up the schedule somewhat. Fastforward to April 20, 2010 – Alexandre has just informed me that the long awaited sequel has finally been Read More
1112 Episode 01 was the App Store’s first adventure game, one exclusively designed and developed for the iPhone a year ago by Agharta Studio. It was highly acclaimed by the critics and earned a well deserved spot in our App Store’s Best Adventure Games. Unfortunately since then the developers took a little detour and released the excellent turn-based strategy – Rogue Planet, which delayed the intended release of 1112 Episode 02. The good news though is that the game is almost finished and in the final stages of beta-testing. But it seems some people just don’t have the patience!  A fan of the original game, through some covert means of her own, found the home address of the lead developer Alexandre Leboucher (whom we incidentally interviewed several months ago) and stole his personal iPhone to check out the game. And what’s more – she even videotaped all of it. Video after Read More

This morning I met with Aurelien Kebeci, CEO of the French development group Agharta Studio to see their upcoming game, Rogue Planet. Previously known for 1112 [App Store], Kebeci blew me away with what he had to show me. Rogue Planet is a turn based strategy game that consists of 15 campaign missions, as well as 15 additional maps for free play and multiplayer. In the initial release, multiplayer will be limited to local WiFi, but with 3.0 right around the corner, Bluetooth local multiplayer as well as asynchronous online multiplayer with push notifications will be available as a free update. The entire game is rendered using extremely detailed 2D sprites on a 3D background, and the presentation is absolutely gorgeous. The isometric 3D view reminds me of Final Fantasy Tactics and each unit has its own set of sounds which gives the game a very lively feel as vehicles' engines Read More

Amazing Original iPhone Series
Reformat Planet 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This game is a great take on the classic "point and click" adventure premise, and it makes use of all the iPhones unique features as well. The graphics and presentation are all beautiful, with subtle touches of animation that bring the world to life, and the story has lots of humor and a great sense of mystery. Characters are well developed and deep, and the puzzles are logical while still being challenging. I never once experienced an issue with crashing, and there is only one load time at the beginning of play.
Buy This Game - Right Now. Do it. Do it.
Mosscow 4.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
This may be my top most eagerly awaited game for the iPhone (neck and neck with Rolando, Bioshock & a solid Quake port.) People - this is the beginning of a legacy... The artwork has to be seen to be believed... It's incredible. Gorgeous. The attention to detail rivals any major outfit out there. Support the artistic French developers - and BUY THIS GAME!!!
Excellent First Step, But Lacks A Few Crucial Elements
nothingreal 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I'm a fan of the classic puzzle-solving adventure genre, and this game is certainly an amazing stride forward for the iphone/touch in terms of re-igniting the once-dominant form of PC gaming.. Rather than go on at length, I'll bullet what's right and what's wrong here:
Beautiful game, terrible gameplay
Binary 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
The art in this game is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I can't forgive the terrible gameplay. There are hundreds of tappable objects to play with, but the game goes out of its way to explain why you can not interact with ANY of them, despite providing an advanced and well thought out interface for doing so.
This is so amazing!
Hexhammer 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This is the best puzzle/adventure game in the AppStore! it's so amazing, maybe even better than mac game? Everyone should try this!
Lots of fun, very original game! - Very challenging! :)
istopmotion 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I've spent about 2 hours on this game so far, and it's pretty hard... All the animations are very nice, and the game is very original - I've never played a game like it! Some of it is pretty funny, too!
Awesome
VanessaBarrera 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I get bored with apps very easily, and I was a bit skeptical at buying this game at first. All in all it is worth it, even if it's quite difficult, I'm on it for hours.
WOW!
emily1424 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I was a little afraid to download a game that I new little about for $8 but now I am SO GLAD that I did!
Mixed feelings about 1112
jecebn 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Let me start off by saying that the graphics in this game are aboslutely gorgeous and that this game offers one of the most unique modes of gameplay that I've seen on the iPhone. With that being said, if I had to do it over, I'm not sure I would purchase this game again. While the story held my attention throughout the game, these type of games offer zero replay value (not the developers fault here, that's just how these types of games are). The most you will get out of this game is 5 hours of play, then you'll have to wait for the next chapter to be released in order to play more. The only major flaw that the devoplers made was the the fact that they did not spell check before they submitted this game- the grammar and usage in this game is truly awful.
Not just a hidden gem—a hidden masterpiece! Can't wait for more episodes
aspoonfuloflester.com 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
It's a point-and-click game, in the vein of MYST—the type of game I've been begging for on the iPhone—and it's set in a small town in New Jersey. It stars an ordinary guy who suffers from premonitions and bad headaches, addicted to government-controlled pain meds, in a time when the government has banned cigarettes and alcohol. His wife is a secret smoker. He starts out in the game having to do fairly mundane tasks—trying to remember the code to his safe, so he can get his pain meds; searching for his wife's accounts book so she can go over the couple's finances, etc.—but it builds up to a twist at the end that makes you wish you could immediately download episode 2.
This is so good
fresno205 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Point and click adventure at its best. Good interaction with the characters and you have to think a bit about your next move. I look forward to episode 2.
Quality adventure gaming
ymatto 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I've finished episode 01 now, and it really does deliver on that feeling you used to get playing the classic point-and-click adventure games, but with beautiful hand-painted graphics, good music, and the first chapter of a story that should be a fun occult thriller. The touch controls are very nicely implemented, making me wish I'd had a multitouch interface to all those adventure games of yore, rather than a clunky mouse. Yes, the translation isn't perfect, but it's a competent story -- just one originally written in French. The author is looking into better translation services, and for now it isn't bothersome as long as you think of the text as the subtitles to a French-language film.
4 Star Game
MatthewLloyd 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
The beautiful artwork, top notch soundtrack, and heaps of love put in to making this game earn it 5 stars easy. The clumsy english translation, relative brevity, and sometimes non intuitive gameplay earn it 3 stars. 4 is a good middle ground. All things considered, I'm certainly on board for episode 2. It really is a beautifully rendered game.
awesome app
Winters_Knight 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
. . . and quite beautiful. buy it so that other developers will be willing to take risks and try new things with the phone.
Amazing
firteen888 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I've been waiting for an adventure game on the iPhone forever, and this one is GREAT. One of the best games in the app store and there will be more episodes to come!!! Stop reading and go get this game. It's games like these that can retire my DS/PSP for good! AMAZING!!!
Just about the best I've played.
Gymboy60302 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This is a realy interesting game. The closest comparison gamplay wise, has been made to hotel dusk for the ds. I never played the title, but after playing 1112 I definitely want to check it out if it's anything like it, cuz 1112 is great. It has the most impressive production value I've seen yet in an iPhone game. It's a completely new title, and not a port of some old game for another platform. Of course it has it's flaws like grammar( it's made by a german or french develepor or somtin like that. But this is definitely not a reason to not buy the game. It's still completely playable and funny because of it) and length(the length varies from people to people. It took me about 4 hours to beat and others anywhere from 1 to 7 hours). Although despite these flaws it is still a game u need to check out. The gameplay is basically about solving puzzles by interacting with objects in the environment and with people u meet like your assistant, your wife, and store owners. You play the role as a married man who's been having weird dreams lately and is going about his normal life. When all of the sudden THERES A PLOT TWIST. I won't go into that though. Plus there's sumtin like 8 more chapters coming out after this one, which the develepor promises will keep getting better and better with more experience on there part and the advancement in technology. They say each chapter will have it's own cool little tech advancement in the form of cool gameplay additions. Plus the story will get loads more exciting and interesting! So if your having a hard time deciding whether or not u want to buy the game or not just go ahead and buy it cuz you won't regret it.
a game i could really get into
ILoveme2 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
i'm not much of a gamer, but this game was really exciting. i don't really leave reviews for anything, but I had to for this game. If you're looking for a game that will keep you entertained for hours, this is it. I can't wait for the next episode, because there are so many questions left unanswered. the developers did a great job with the art, and the story is very unpredictable. Way to Go!
Fantastic presentation
Big Drahma 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Okay, the English dialogue suffers from "non native English" syndrome (I'm a lit major, what can I say), but the entire package is so well crafted, it impossible to be unimpressed. This was money well spent! Bravo Agharta Studios!
Good start. Needs work.
AricP 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I love old-style adventure games, and so far this is fun but there are a few things that need to be addressed before I can give it 5 stars. 1) I appreciate that the developers probably aren't native English speakers, but it is critical to have your work proofed by a native speaker. The many obvious grammer errors and typos really detract from the game. It ruins the mood you are trying so hard to set. 2) This game really needs built-in help or a tutorial so people know how to properly interact with the game. 3) An autosave feature would be great. All-in-all the game is a good deal of fun and is visually stunning. With the issues v1.0 has, I don't know if it is worth $9.99, but at $7.99, it's worth a look.
Beautiful but short for the price
Meg9 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Such a beautiful game! I really enjoyed this, but was very disappointed when it ended, I felt that another set of puzzles would give it the right length.
Great game!!
Bacara 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
I love this game, but it does seem a bit short. That could be because I used some online assistance from TouchArcade.com when I got stuck, but it is by far one of the best games for iPhone. It reminds me of Myst which I also loved. You really have to think about what your doing and think outside the box.
Great Start! More please!!
shanyetta23 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Episode 02 now please. I loved the start in episode 01 and would love for the next one to be a little longer. But other than that this game is great. Release ep 2 ASAP! :-)
excellent game, some negatives which prevent it from being a 5 star
adikal 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Being a long time fan of point-n-click adventures (e.g., Kings Quest, Monkey Island etc), I was keen to check out this game. This game is a great first step and shows that the iphone interface is probably best suited to revive this lost genre. The game certainly needs more polish, but the developers have to be lauded for taking the initiative and creating a neat graphical adventure (AFAIK, there is no comparable game currently on the iphone)
Incredible
Tutzi 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Who cares about the spelling anyway half of the American population cannot spell please!!!! The game is worth every penny it is so good that I just wished it last longer so good!!!
Interesting try, but WITHOUT FLAWS
GOMGOM 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Basically I like the beautiful graphics and unique style (at least in the field of iPhone games).
Amazing
YaelleG 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Ever since I finished Episode 1 I've been anxiously awaiting the sequel. I didn't realize how much under my skin this game had gotten. It is pretty darn good. To quote Forrest Gump - thats all I have to say about that. 1112 is very enjoyable.
So far so good
Jimmy Neutron   5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Very impressed by artwork and sound. Myst style mystery game. I am stuck at the moment, anyone know where the boiler notice is.
