Christmas Sale: Gameloft Doing The $.99 Thing
Calendar16 Tue, 20 Dec 2011 20:53:47 UTC +00:00
We don't celebrate a single holiday at TouchArcade Tower unless Gameloft throws a sale in celebration of it. And, guys, it looks like we're going to have Christmas and New Years in 2011. Starting now, you can grab, uh, a bunch, of the publisher's better games for that price, including the startlingly good NOVA 2. We've got the list, so check it out if below if you're interested about what Gameloft is selling. Also, as we kinda mentioned already, NOVA 2 is our pick out of this list. If you're a fan of the Assassin's Creed fiction, Altair's Chronicles isn't all THAT bad at $.99, either. Low bandwidth Version | The HD version for the iPad is here: Critter Chaos HD We also have a lite version for FREE! Check it out here: Critter Chaos Lite We are an indie game studio and we are excited to present our first release. If you guys Read More
9mm

Since the inception of video games, one of the most popular styles of gameplay has been the classic first person or third person shooter. Unfortunately, this is a genre that is difficult to play on iOS devices such as the iPad or iPod touch , and many shooters have failed to live up to expectations. One third person shooter on the iPhone that has risen to the challenge, however, is 9mm from Gameloft. It is important to note this game (9mm) contains a ton of profanity, sexual content, drug and alcohol references and intense violence, which means you need to be at least 17 to download this app. The plot behind 9mm revolves around the character John “Loose” Kannon, the leader of a special unit of cops whose purpose is to eliminate the most wanted criminals through any means necessary. The story begins when John’s team kills the brother of a Read More

9mm Review

Posted 08/24/2011 at 9:40am | by Steve Haske “It’s raining bacon, motherf—kers!”The appropriately named John Kannon yells this to no one in particular in the first level of 9mm, since the hoods he’s targeting are huddled idiotically in a room below the skylight the badass cop is about to crash through. Then, cue the slow motion gunplay and predictable South Central-ish gangland soundtrack -- while you’re taking out these worthless thugs with extreme prejudice, you may think to yourself, “Gee, I feel like I’ve played this game before.” You’re probably not wrong, though it may be easy to get sucked into 9mm’s hype. With Gameloft’s name and production values backing it (not to mention the fairly meaty $6.99 price tag) the game certainly purports itself as an action game tour-de-force for iOS. Don’t give its shiny exterior too much credit though -- this is just another bland shooter, and one with Read More

+ Universal App $6.99 Our Review By Blake Grundman on July 27th, 2011 Rating: :: TRAGIC MISFIRE Take a ride on the dark side with John "Loose" Cannon. If you thought that name was trying too hard, just imagine what the game is like... Developer: Price: $6.99 Version: 1.0.0 App Reviewed on: iPhone 4 Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: In countless television shows and movies there has always existed a character that is a cop that preferrs to ignore the rules and write his own. For lack of a better way of saying it, this badass was usually the guy that in the end had a heart of gold – the only problem was the bloodstains tarnishing its luster. In 9mm, John “Loose” Cannon is that man all the way down to the musty looking hoodie and ankle flask. And let’s not Read More
10 New App Store Games To Watch [July 11 - 17]
Calendar16 Wed, 20 Jul 2011 12:54:11 UTC +00:00
I’m sure the top story this week is 9mm from Gameloft, but I’m going to mention Pocket RPG, the latest offering from Crescent Moon Games.  This stylish RPG should be a treat for anyone that likes dual stick games or rougelike offerings.  I just wish they would have released the iPhone version first.  Racing seemed to be a prevalent theme this week.  If you enjoy futuristic jaunts you should check out Protoxide: Death Race from HeroCraft.  On the other hand, if you just want to cause havoc in the current era, Reckless Getaway might be more your style.  Finally, those that are more interested in proving their skills than causing any damage at all should consider Xtreme Wheels, a trial bike game that offers some really intense graphics given the game’s style of game play. – HeroCraft is probably most well known for some creative and fun puzzle games, but now Read More

'9mm' Review – The App Store Needs More Bullet Time
Calendar16 Mon, 18 Jul 2011 18:39:46 UTC +00:00
The latest third person shooter from Gameloft is named 9mm [$6.99] and comes with an age restriction (17+) on the App Store for containing sexual content, realistic violence, frequent alcohol and drug use references, profanity and suggestive themes. It's gritty and naughty, with drug-dealers, crooked cops, guns, strippers and narrated dialog sprinkled generously with the F-bomb. That's probably enough reasons for some of you to buy it immediately. Sometimes it's fun to play something with dark themes, but if you object to swear-words or prefer pretty rainbows and ponies, this is not the game for you. In the single player campaign, you control John "Loose" Kannon (*groan*), a corrupt narcotics detective, who kills a drug lord's brother and steals millions in cash. This sparks a bullet-fueled rampage as you take down gang members, while trying to avoid being capped yourself. At first glance this game resembles Grand Theft Auto [$9.99], or Read More
[iOS-Game] 9mm (+ Video)
Calendar16 Mon, 18 Jul 2011 07:56:29 UTC +00:00
Today's Wednesday game release fiasco is a little later than most for two reasons- First off, we're really stoked to have finally gotten our hands on the iControlPad, and I wanted to give that story as much attention throughout the day as possible since it's an accessory that many (us included) have been following since its inception. Secondly, we got an adorable addition to the family today, who will serve as mascot and guard dog to the TouchArcade command center. So, this week this standard feature is less of a "coming tonight" and more of a "coming in like a half hour or already out" post. There's a ton of great games out tonight, too. If you're new, here's how this works: iOS developers are able to set release dates for their apps in iTunes connect. The App Store is a global marketplace, and thanks to the magic of the International Read More
