In line with its Creative Suite 6 announcement from earlier this week, Adobe today launched its Creative Cloud subscription service. A few days after originally anticipated, Adobe has now made its Creative Cloud and Creative Suite 6 products available for purchase and download. Adobe is making a big push for its Creative Cloud subscription service, which offers access to all 14 of its desktop apps and previews for other products. The exception is Lightroom, which Adobe says will be coming soon. The six Adobe Touch apps are each a separate purchase, with four of those apps available for the iPad now. Adobe updated Ideas, its vector-based sketchbook application for the iPad, earlier this week. The 1.2 version of the iPad application is available for free and lets users grab a capacitive stylus or their finger to create a drawing or add annotations to images. This latest version adds a new premium layer functionality that lets you add up to ten drawing layers and one photo layer for each sketch. You can also change the layer order and opacity as well as rotate, move and scale each layer using this new tool, which is available as an in-app purchase. The application is programmed to be able to ignore touches by your hand (palm, fingers, etc) and only take input from a stylus. They claim to be the first to do this, so it is pretty groundbreaking. This technology would be great for sketching apps like Adobe Ideas or note taking apps. Another potential use would to implement the palm-ignoring code into the Phones with capacitative buttons, like the Evo 4g. Sometimes when reaching for the notification bar, your palm touches the “Search” button and causes the phone to go into search mode. Just because Adobe can't have Flash on the iPad doesn't mean that they want to miss out on the Apple tablet bandwagon. Adobe has released a pretty cool app called Adobe Ideas. Adobe Ideas is a sketchbook for the iPad. The app features vector-based drawing tools, zoom control, sizable brushes, layers, and the ability to email PDF documents for editing in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. While Adobe Ideas isn't as feature-rich as Brushes for iPad, it is a free app that starving artists will appreciate (though, if you've bought an iPad, I don't think you technically count as a "starving" artist).
