The app is compatible with several different kinds of PDF documents, including “PDF Portfolios, password-protected PDF documents and Adobe LiveCycle rights-managed PDF files.” It also features wireless printing via AirPrint, the ability to find text within a PDF file, text copying, thumbnail navigation, and much more. It packs multitouch gestures for zooming, landscape orientation, and a tool that will resize the text on wide documents to fit your phone's narrow screen. After a quick spin with the software on a Nexus One, I found it to work quite well, even on large files. A 12MB, picture-rich PDF file I had downloaded in Android's stock browser opened up in just four seconds and zipped around like butter on a hot pan. My update is real because I do not work for adobe. Update still doesn't open adobe adf files as claimed for android platform. Update is stupid and stumbles. Why can't adobe design a reader than can read files that are adobe pdf files. Update doesn't improve useless adobe program. I still download on home pc send to google docs or email myself files to read on android, such a waste of time. Adobe please design update to read Adobe pdf files. Still useless, adobe can't even design software to read its own files despites its claims to be droid freindly. Idiots.

Two features badly missing: should remember where i was in a document and should be able to lock (prevent) horizontal scrolling and/or there should be a zoom mode that zooms to text width (as opposed to page width). The latter is needed so that i don't have to choose between wasting a lot os screen real estate on margins and inconvenient scrolling (trying not to scroll sideways to keep all text on screen). The former issue, well it's almost a bug for an android app...

Best pdf viewing clarity and continuous page presentation but few other features. Still the best in term of viewing clarity ... still the best continuous document flow presentation...but few other features and no bokmarking your page. I tried just about all other readers trying to red a pdf book designed for printing. I still use adobe reader instead. The closest I found was ebookdroid but it is still not as clear for viewing pdf fonts.. especially smaller ones

I had downloaded this when I had first gotten this, my very first Android phone (Motorola Bravo). Hence, 8 I had expected it to have all the features the PC version of the reader has, such as the ability to highlight text and add comments and notes. Now, I realize those were likely unrealistic expectations, or at least unfair, given the limitations of my phone. I have to say that it's quite nice to be able to read pdf files on my phone, at all. And that's the basis for my rating.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note with Android 2.3.6. Polaris office (pre-installed) did not have continuous scrolling or a go-to-page feature, making it useless for large PDF's. Repligo didn't have continuous scrolling; it did have a go-to-page feature but took far too many clicks to get to it. Adobe, like Repligo, uses a slider to quickly go to the approximate page you need, say, in an 800-page document; Repligo's version shows thumbnails, which is better than Adobe's version. But Adobe's continuous scrolling puts it over the top, because if I'm on page 735 & need to get to page 742, in Adobe that's one swipe & it scrolls, whereas in Repligo it scrolls only 1 page per swipe, so it'd take 7 swipes to move 7 pages, which is very annoying. Adobe has no GO-TO-PAGE feature that I can find; it would be a killer feature, especially if it's added as a one-touch button on the toolbar, next to the search button. One other issue with Adobe is it does not allow me to bring down my notifications screen from the top of the screen; trying to swipe from off screen simply swipes the PDF document, so if I want to go to my notifications screen I have to first get out of Adobe, & this is inconvenient.

This has the best text rendering and general presentation. They even recently fixed issues such as the page numbers appearing at the top left, they now appear at the bottom left. However, it still does not remember where you are in a document. It will remember while the application is open, but close it down and reopen the PDF some time later and you have lost your page. If it remembered the page number and the zoom level there would be no need for another PDF reader, sadly these features are MAJOR issues in the way I read PDFs!

All other pdf readers i found on the market didnt display some features in various pdfs properly, the only other close competitor was the amazon kindle app for android. But since I dont own a kindle, I cant send personal docs to an android device. So this app beats that out because of the "recently viewed" feature Only 4 stars because I would have liked two features to make it more mobile/tablet friendly. 1: bookmarks, being able to resume where you left off. 2: an "open file" function, although it does search for pdfs, I did have a case where it wasnt finding one, I ended up having to rename and move it to a different location before it was picked up by the app. Lastlly some of the scrolling was a little choppy/jumping while between pages, but perhaps that is the performance on my device. 1 star. Worst PDF app out. No form fill. No hyper links. No annotations. No nothing. You'd be better off printing your PDFs and reading that way. Ridiculously bad considering it's AN ADOBE FORMAT AND PRODUCT! What the heck is wrong with adobe?? Update******* 4/10/2012 Hey they listened to me - Latest updates are great!!! Now if they can roll out calculated fields they'd put ezPDF OUT OF BUSINESS !!!! Adobe rocks once again!

I did the update this morning. After downloading it my phone started to act weird. Now when I write I have to rotate my phone cause I can't type certain letters. For example when I push f It pushes dg and I can't get the search app off my home page. I'm so upset right now. The update was the only thing I did all day. I really don't want to have to do a factory update, I just don't understand how this app is affecting other apps. PLEASE PLEASE FIX!

[ICS] On the PLUS side: Nice new features, as lauded by others. On the MINUS side: Frustrating glitches make it practically useless for any serious work, study, or even leisure reading. (1) Whenever I interrupt Reader for ANY reason--sleep tablet, swap to another app, or just open Reader's own Settings menu--the document resets to Page 1, losing my place. So much for multitasking! (2) When I first open PDFs, I often get a blank document until I scroll up/down a few pages, then the text slowly fills in. What a pain! I have several other free PDF readers that, while lacking the bells and whistles of the Adobe version, at least avoid these fundamental flaws. Adobe could and should be king of the PDF readers... but it's not there yet.

Issues: (1) The rendering is fast, but it often confuses swipe-to-scroll with swipe-to-zoom; the addition of tap zones for scroll would improve control immensely. (2) the reflow mode is inobviously accessed; the icon is small and usually hidden. (3) the filesystem access presumes only a few PDFs, not the hundreds I've got; no option to collapse folders seems present (4) it seems impossible to remove annotations - this means you can't adjust them after asking questions. Especially obnoxious is drawn annotations, as no eraser tool is present. (5) the drawn annotations tool lacks any obvious means of changing the line size or color. While better than the other free PDF readers I've tried, it's still mediocre, and far behind Adobe's usual standards.

This application does what you need it to do - at no cost, read and annotate PDFs, but it feels poorly coded. I don't understand how this application runs so unacceptably slowly on my device (Asus Transformer Prime, v4.0.3) with a Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC. Other free applications (MX Player, Google Maps) scream when granted four Cortex A9 cores at ~1.5 GHz, but Adobe Reader feels sluggish - is it even multithreaded? Tapping either side of a portrait document to navigate is archaic when the Android gallery allows you to sweep through pictures frictionlessly; in Adobe Reader, attempting to flick from page to page incurs a half-second pause before the page jerkily slides across. Selecting text with the - admittedly useful - annotation tools fails to track the finger with any immediacy or accuracy, and the Android text selector (the blue arrowhead) is replaced by a Windows-style cursor for no apparent reason. Finally, Adobe Reader eschews Google's "Holo" design principles for Android for an inconsistent mix of different fonts, font styles, button sizes, and visual elements. In short, Adobe Reader gets the job done, but there's no flair, no fun, and fleetness.

When highlighting, make it possible with a menu to view all of your highlights in relation to Page number or something, the way Kindle handles highlights. This helps a lot of college students avoid having to copy the notes onto paper. Maybe allow annotations by typing. Reads all pdf on sd card. Should be able to let user specify which folder to read from. Zinio magazines stores each Page as a pdf causing adobe to load tons of files EACH time you want to open the adobe document folder.

My computer went down, at the same time I was applying for a new job. The New employer sent my application forms to my email in writable PDF form. I couldn't print and fill them out because my printer was broken. (Talk about bad luck huh?) So I searched the play store ,found this app, and used it to fill out the forms, and emailed them right back to him. All without ever touching a computer. Thanks Adobe. You really saved me. I love the new annotation features they've added, and I use them regularly on my ASUS Transformer tablet. Currently, it seems like they don't have the ability to underline/highlight a single word, only phrases between any punctuation. Of course you can cheat around this by using freehand, but it's not quite as clean that way. Also, it's a little buggy yet. The page doesn't always focus when there's more than 3ish annotations on a page and you are zoomed in, and sometimes when this happens the program doesn't let you highlight or underline anymore (although freehand always seems to work reliably). If you go and end all your running programs at this point and re-open Adobe Reader, this problem seems to be fixed briefly. Since the annotation tools are still relatively new, I'm sure all the bugs will get worked out soon enough.

I currently have Adobe Reader on both my phone and my tablet. On my phone it works great! Now then...why is it so crappy on my tablet!? It's crappy on the Asus Transformer prime! The best Android on the market! With a QUAD-core processor! So then....why the heck does this lag so much!? Especially for highlighting. Adobe Reader is an app truly meant for tablet annotation. So why don't you guys optimize it for tablets also! It's awesome on my phone but who would want to annotate on that. For tablets....this is a very very sorry excuse for an app with the lags and everything.

I'd love to give this a 4, but every time my tablet goes into sleep mode the app completely forgets what page I'm on in the PDF. I then have to scroll down and find my place again. This happens when you suspend your tablet as well which can happen a lot since I use it while between waiting for buses. Also, if you choose a view setting such as "continuous mode" the app fails to keep that setting as well every time the device suspends\sleeps or is turned off. Thumbs down until the basic necessities are implemented.

-----Annotating, especially highlighting, on Adobe Reader would be MUCH BETTER if you had the option to make the button STAY ON, even after creating the annotation. -----When i'm highlighting MULTIPLE THINGS PER PAGE, it's REALLY ANNOYING, that I have to click the highlight button on the toolbar, EVERY......SINGLE......TIME.......to make a highlight -----My suggestion would be that if you could long-press the annotation button in the toolbar, such as the highlight button, it could STAY ON, as I continue to make highlights. Then I wouldn't have to click on it every single freaking time when highlighting something different on the page. -----There Needs to be an option to KEEP THE TOOL SELECTED
