Yesterday, Google kicked off their ten-day long celebration of hitting the 10 billion mark for total apps downloaded by giving away 10 premium applications for 10 cents a piece. Over the next 9 days, Google will be offering a total of 90 more applications (10 per day) for the same 10 cent price. Though Google hasn’t yet updated their list for toady’s deals, several developers from today’s sale have already reduced their prices. That is what DoubleTwist is saying with the release of their new AirSync add-on for their Android app. Before you read any farther, long story short, you can now sync music, videos and pictures to your Android device without a wire through DoubleTwist. Doesn't sync all that it implies The description for this app implies it syncs ratings and playcounts, it does not. It imports them from iTunes initially, but doesn't push new ratings and playcounts back into iTunes. It's also slow, far slower than iSyncr, which incidentally does sync ratings and playcounts back into iTunes. Oh yes, it's also extremely annoying that on my phone it insisted the screen had to remain on while syncing, it drained a fully charged battery in one sync operation!

Good idea but has it's issues It always syncs my local music folder which has more music than my memory on my phone. I removed the folder from the preferences but that didn't help. So I deleted the files, no idea where it's getting it from now, but it has no more configuration options and it's getting music from somewhere that isn't in my itunes library. I removed everything I could. If this could be fixed, then it would work like it's supposed to. It's pointless using this app if it doesn't sync what you tell it to.

Airplay is awesome, but syncing sucks I love the Airplay feature. I've used it to stream videos, pictures, and music to my Xbox360 and Playstation3 and it works flawlessly. The main issue I have is the airsyncing and it's an issue others have complained about as well. You can't designate where the music will sync to on your phone. It always defaults to your internal storage so if you have an SD card like me, there is no way to sync your music to it. You'll have to move the music over to it from the internal storage which is a big hassle. Beware

Then discovered that nothing displayed right on my screen. Uninstalled, got a refund. Then tried the Winamp app for android which works with the program I already have. And with winamp you don't even have to be at your phone. You drag the songs you want to the little icon in the interface. Then it just appears on your phone wirelessly. AND WINAMP IS FREE!

Im really getting sick of these syncing stuff! you can sync what i like i HAVE to sync playlists ONLY! or all my music and device and and SD card are seperate so i have split memory there for i should be able to SELECT what music i want were! other wise its POINTLESS!! Waste of time! i paid for this because i expect a better quality app, however this stupid system DIDNT even recognise my SD memory card just my devive! terrible app dont waste you momey on it

Two things are very wrong with this app. 1. Ditto to lots of other comments: It only syncs to your phone's internal storage, and will not sync with your SD card. 2. It also doesn't sync ratings or last played information back to iTunes. This is a huge setback if you use these things to make Smart Playlists. (E.g. A playlist that shows your top rated songs that you haven't played in the last month.) Sadly, a BIG waste of money due to these things. Going to be using Syncr instead!

Works great for syncing my music to my Xperia X10 and transformer prime But the app regularly asks me to pay MORE money on other add ons. And it syncs the album art for the tracks you bought on iTunes but not the ones you upload yourself, it asks you to pay money for their "Premium Cover Art". These are quite annoying, I would normally use Google music to sync my music but it isn't available in Canada :P Does its job well though and that's all I asked for.

The app did sync my music to my tablet as it says it will. I really have only a couple of issues with it. First, it's quite slow and doesn't seem to understand or do a differential sync. It also, as others have pointed out doesn't solve the issue of the app being able to play DRM music. This is OK, but don't advertise as an iTunes replacement if you can't play iTunes music. Finally, to only get 4 or 5 album covers is really poor form. They want you to pay another $4.99 for that. Typical nickel and dime app, can't do anything right so make everything an "add-on" and hope you can work it out sometime before everyone stops using your app. I'd love to just get my $5.00 back. I broke my own rule of never buying what doesn't have a trial and regret it sorely.

It will work only over wifi connection, which is very sad when it was shown on the market that the app is compatible with the phone. I know this is due to the ics 4.0 but support will be added only to the next Gen as I found in the support forum. The problem make the app useless for initial sync for data size over few GBs because it will take ages while locking the screen and drain the battery. If hard for the first time sync, why would I need this sync app.

2/23/12 UPDATE Now that I've used it for a few days I've noticed that some of the uploaded music files show up on the device as strange hieroglyphs, the name, and the description. When I look at the files on my computer I can't figure out why that is. The file uploads are very slow over the network. The file data doesn't get imported from iTunes (Genre, Rating). Playlists don't show up in the mobile DT. They do show up in the native player. -------------------------- 2/21/12 While in AirSync mode it fails to sync my files. Gives an "unknown" reason for failure to sync. I have good signal strength (signal relays all over the house). The DT desktop sees my device without problems The whole point of Air sync was to be able to sync at high speed while not at the computer. Will give it a few more tries. Any suggestions? ---- Galaxy Note (AT&T) 16GB on board. --------------------------

It's sad because I really want to love this software. Syncing with iTunes is a great concept and the widget is nice. But... Have a Samsung phone? Don't bother with the AirSync, it wont use your SD card. Have Unicode songs? That doesn't work either. Meaning I cant even sync over USB. They seem to have no interest in fixing these issues, they would rather add things like DLNA streaming that I could care less about (oh yes, please give me something else to drain my battery) I have switched to Play by Yahoo.

Was really excited by the announcement that I could finally stream to my apple TV. However in practice, doubletwise will play then pause... the audio doesnt go through. If I was playing something via my mac earlier... hitting play on doubleTwist will somehow make the appleTV tell my MAC to continue playing the previous track that was streaming (from where it was stopped). Quitting itunes on my mac didn't even help. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. Then I give it 10 stars.

Dont know if anyone else is having this problem but some songs (like 25%) have duplicated themselves sometimes up to 3 times each, then after i have that all sorted out i have a problem with it in my stock music app on the gnex because it puts random songs into random artists and often duplicates them and the album they are in. it is incredibly frustrating and unorganized. this app has a ton of potential it just doesnt seem to work well enough.

I bought this app *specifically* to stream audio to my airport express and on rare occasion my AppleTv. Instead I was me with phenomenally time consuming airsync, (2gb of music and after 2 hours it still wasnt sync'd) no ability to stream to my airport or appletv and it did not integrate with itunes as promised. This was a waste of 5.00. Instead I bought Honey Player and it out of the box saw my airport express and Appletv. It's not perfect but works.

I've had this app since March of 2011 and have never gotten it to work with my EVO 4g. I've gone through technical support and tried all their suggestions; even the most complicated ones that I shouldn't have to do with a decent piece of software, I've changed versions of windows, I've updated everything there is to update and it doesn't work. The EVO 4g won't even show up in Double Twist when plugged in manually, I don't know why I thought Air Sync would magically work when Double Twist can't even work correctly to start with. And no matter how you look at it, it's overpriced. EVO owners, save your money until they take the time to get it working with EVOs. The Quick Twist app is great, but the Air Sync doesn't currently work. Double Twist on the PC would be good, but it's pointless if it can't see the EVO. And so it doesn't seem like I'm just ragging on Double Twist, by comparison I had NONE of these problems with my Palm Pre. Everything worked perfectly, beautifully and magically with no tinkering of any kind necessary. But, be forwarned, the EVO and Double Twist/Air Sync do not play well together. Only EVO and Quick Twist seem to be on speaking terms.

This works pretty well between my MacbookPro running 10.7.x and my Galaxy Nexus. BE very aware that if the database in .doubletwist gets corrupted for whatever reason .. in my case because DroidWall wasn't letting it talk outside the phone .. then you will have to uninstall both apps and delete the .doubletwist directory for it to work right again. Other then this small bit it works fine with the virtual sdcard that is /mnt/sdcard on the Galaxy Nexus and it's pretty speedy unlike over USB where it sort of crawls. Over all not bad. I like.

Duplicate songs, slow, more in app purchases to unlock features like equalizer. Airplay, as does double twist since its start, copies multiple instances of the same song, 2 and 3 times. This is a problem they haven't ever been able to fix and its horrible. Also doesn't let you sync other things, like maybe another folder on your computer to transfer over movies that aren't in iTunes, i know it's not made for that, but would be nice..sync is also very slow, bubble upnp works much faster, much more reliable and has a ton of features.

This is a good application if you do not own a Samsung Galaxy S2, as you can use Kies to do the same job that AirSync does. I found the Syncing to be very very slow, and my entire music library on my phone is disorganised, thanks to this Application. I only got this application because it was going free, but that alone will not save this app. The app is great if you do not use a Samsung Galaxy S2 (or another Samsung Phone with Kies).
