iOS 101: How to Use AirPlay on iOS Devices
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Mar 2011 19:10:29 UTC +00:00
iOS 4.3 brings expanded AirPlay support to Apple’s iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices, so long as you have hardware new enough to support the update. AirPlay allows you to stream audio and video content from your iOS device to another screen, be it your TV, computer or another iOS device, depending on what hardware you have at your disposal. Since third-party apps can now get in on the AirPlay action, it’s a good time to look at just how to get the new feature up and running, especially since it cut help you cut the cord and ditch your cable subscription. First things first. In order to get AirPlay working, you’ll need the following: Your next step is to make sure AirPlay is active on your receiving device. On the Apple TV, you can do this by navigating to the Settings menu, and selecting AirPlay. You should now see whether Read More

Getting Around Apple’s AirPlay Limitations
Calendar16 Wed, 19 Jan 2011 18:30:45 UTC +00:00
Some of Apple’s technologies stop just a little short of greatness. That’s where third-party applications come in to complete the picture (and the sound). Airfoil helps extend Apple’s AirPlay on Macs and iOS devices, and a brand new app called AirView improves AirPlay’s video playback abilities. Airfoil for Mac. At the core of this solution is Airfoil 4.0 (free trial, $25 full version). It’s a simple application that would probably do better as a System Preference pane.  The interface is quick to master: Just pick an audio source, and select where you would like that audio source to be heard.  In addition to supporting playback of your iTunes music library, Airfoil will also stream audio content from almost any application on either Mac or PC, including system audio and any attached audio device.  I tested this with the microphone attached to my Apple Cinema Display, as well as a Samson C01U Read More
AirView Lets You Beam AirPlay Video Between iOS Devices

By –   AirView is a free App on the App Store that allows users to stream video from one iOS device to another through AirPlay. According to the video above, it's incredibly easy, and takes nothing more than launching the App and hitting the icon. If you think that's kind of cool, you may also want to take a look at AirPlayer or AirFlick as well. Related Posts Read More
AirView Streams Video Between iOS Devices
Calendar16 Wed, 19 Jan 2011 07:43:27 UTC +00:00
Have you ever had a movie on your iPhone, but wanted to watch it on your iPad’s larger screen? Then AirView is just what you’ve been waiting for. AirView is a free app that has just been approved for the App Store. It only does one thing, but what it does, it does well. AirView allows you to stream video from one iOS device to another, that’s it. By using Apple’s AirPlay technology and a local Wi-Fi signal, you can stream video, for example, from an iPhone to an iPad or vise versa. There are no settings to fiddle with, or any preferences to set. Just launch the app and wait for the other device to start streaming video. AirView works like a receiver. Once activated, AirView simply plays a video file as soon as it’s received. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad running iOS 4.2. I’ve Read More
Read More

AirView brings AirPlay reception to iOS devices
Calendar16 Tue, 18 Jan 2011 18:00:00 UTC +00:00
If you've been looking for device-to-device AirPlay support, the free AirView utility that just debuted on the App Store offers a simple solution. Offering a no-frills AirPlay receiver, AirView allows you to watch AirPlay video streams from other devices or, if you have AirFlick installed on your Macintosh, from your primary computer. As I've written extensively before, I'm not entirely sure why or when you'd use this option (e.g., "Hey, instead of watching that movie on my HDTV, why not use a 3-inch display instead?" or "Want to watch this YouTube video? Instead of handing you my phone or emailing you the URL, I'll make both of us sit here while I serve the data to you live!"), but there you have it. It's available for download from the App Store, and it works equally well on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. Thanks, Steven TS Read More
Read More

Slight load time before video starts, that could be influenced by the strength of my wifi. Otherwise it works as stated. Would love to see my iTunes playlist within the application like in Apple's Remote App.
Works beautifully, but sound?
twumpsanders 5.0 stars Version: 0.9
Works as advertised on my iPhone and ipad. I have yet to try from iTunes to my iOS devices. I can quit the video on the device sending the signal and keep using other apps while it keeps sending the video in the background. The only thing-- where is the sound? Does it send sound some way too?
Just what I was looking for...
