Amazon Mobile has released the Amazon App for Android, an official shopping client for fast searching and shopping on Amazon.com. Released into the U.S. Android Market early this morning, Amazon App leverages much of the power of the online retailer onto an Android phone. Content is optimized to load quickly, shoppers can search by department, scan barcodes or take photos, compare prices, gain access to their shopping cart, track pages, view or edit account settings, and even view their Wish List and recommendations. While it does give you the ability to browse items, make purchases and read customer reviews, there are a few problems. The My Account feature contains very few options apart from tracking packages or cancelling them. There isn't any option to leave seller feedback. While you are able to read product reviews, they can't be sorted by number of stars and there isn't any way to vote or comment on them. In addition, the app frequently has network errors. You're better off just visiting the mobile site.

Placing an order for more than one item with this app turned out to be an excercise in total frustration. There is no apparent way to put an item in your cart, return to shopping, add or change an item and expect it to smoothly be included . . .especially if you have made any changes like changing an item or deleting it. I finally had to just go to my pc where I was able to do in less than a minute what spending a half hour using this app would not allow me to.

This app does not allow me to search through a category then filter my results. For example, I am searching for boys shoes. So, because your app won't allow me to navigate thru categories like the full site will, I am forced to to a search on "boys shoes". Now I get an unknown amount of results because your app won't list this information. I cannot filter by price, or by brand or style or size. The eBay app let's me do this. Your app is only good if I know exactly what I am looking for.

I like this app and I use it frequently (although I dislike the new permissions*) The layout is nice and simple for reading reviews, seeing similar products, and getting product information, but contacting sellers is difficult. I have to jump thru hoops to get to the option and sometimes I can't even get the option to come up. I would really like a more simple way to contact sellers with my questions. *I hope my trust in Amazon isn't misplaced.

Doesn't allow u to manage account or lists like wish list. the point of those should be to provide a simplistic and quick way to do everything typically done in a web browser on ur phone. I for one, would rather do constant zooming in and out with my phones browser than use the limited functionality in this app. The iPhone app is much better than this. shame on amazon for making such a poor counterpart for the Android community.

First off, this app works perfect on my aging HTC Hero. No stuttering or locking up. The same cannot be said about the AmazonAppStore app, but thats a different story... Recently I have become somewhat of an Amazon junkie, what with all of the free Kindle books and free mp3s that they give you. The deals on PC games is second to none. I am an avid and dedicated STEAM user and their sales are top notch, but Amazon does deserve credit for offering games at a great rate. The only con that I would have is the non option of being able to buy a game download. I should be able to buy the game and download it when I like, as long as its added to my account, that way I dont miss a sale. This is not enough of a con to rate below 5 stars. Another option that I would like to see is access to the seller account. I would like to be able to sell an object the same way that I can search for one, meaning I can scan and then give me the option to use the seller account. Other than that, great app, keep up the good work!

I love Amazon.com. I use it all the time. Last night I used this app to purchase something (it qualified for free shipping) before I went to bed and I used the 1-click button instead of the cart. Obviously I made the assumption that it would use the free shipping since that is what I always use. I was wrong and the order was beyond canceling when I noticed in the morning. By default the 1-click mobile settings are set to use 2-day shipping, which cost me $11 instead of the free shipping that they prominently advertise next to the product price. I'd like to trust this app, but Amazon needs to ask about 1-click settings if you've never configured or used it before. I have turned off 1-click for this app now because I can't configure the free shipping option AT ALL under the one-click settings page.

Why download a lot of extra crap to my phone if it isn't better or even more of a convenience than simply going to the site. Amazon is a good market they just need to step it up.. all the money i spend with you ppl you can't even sort from the app pay someone to help you help me spend some money ya dig.. so this app is basically dead weight on everyones phone until they spend money on us.. so I will be deleting until that day if don't come soon y'all gone loose some customers

1 click checkout is very clunky. Also, there is no filtering available. Filtering is the key to finding exactly what you want and is what I use every time on the full website. Its hard to compare products using this app. Newegg does it well Amazon should too. Also, -1 more star because they pre- load useless apps on android phones that you can't uninstall. And if you freeze it, everything freaks out if you try to update.

We buy just about everything from Amazon and I do most of my purchases through this app. It's incredibly convenient. I'd like to be able to manage my subscribe and save items. The reason I didn't give five stars is that upon opening the app it occasionally reorders the last item purchased. It's annoying to have to cancel these purchases and I'm afraid I won't notice it one of these times until a duplicate item shows up at my door..

This app runs fine, but it does have many weird restrictions. For example, I've never found a way to simply browse. Not search, but browse categories. Can't sort results after searching. Wish list management could definitely be improved. No Look Inside for books is certainly annoying as well. The problem with this app is mainly the lack of or substandard implementation of several key Amazon features that customers are used to.
