The newly-launched Amazon Student app for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch is pretty similar to the company’s original iPhone app, except it comes with new features that cater specifically to students. Amazon says the free app could help students buy and sell textbooks a lot more easily. The app’s new built-in scanner functionality is front and center as a few of the app’s features rely on it. For example, to get the best price available for a certain book, borrow one from a friend or a bookstore, and scan its bar code by a taking a picture of it.
