Toy Defender is an odd new Tower Defense game from Manastone. You might be thinking, “What’s so strange about it?” and that’s a valid questions so I’ll tell you. This Tower Defense game involves an innocent baby, demons, and toys which has definitely got to be the first time a Tower Defense game (or possibly any game) has combined those three things together. I’ll go ahead and tell you that the English translation in Toy Defender is rough to put it nicely, but here are a few key points I picked out from the game. There is a bunch of baby kidnapping demons running amok, and you play a toy that’s convinced other toys to band together and fight back. The levels are broken down in to areas & stages; there seems to be six different areas with six levels each and they vary wildly from Dreams, and Sea to a Library. The gameplay behind Toy Defender sticks to the tried and true TD formula of build, destroy, upgrade… next wave. A few other things to note are a “Monster Dictionary,” 100 mastery upgrades, 25 achievements, skills, and more monsters than you can shake a stick at. Toy Defender seems to be a solid Tower Defense game, but you’re going to do a lot of shaking your head and giggling at how the game is laid out along with its goofy translation. The game definitely has a lot going on, but you’ll have to figure it out which is actually kind of fun in itself. There are a few permissions I don’t care for, but they seem to include them in all their games and I haven’t heard anyone cry foul yet so it should be ok. If you want to give it a shot you can pick up Manastone’s Toy Read More

How Does Music With Me Work? Music With Me is composed of two apps, the one running on your Android phone and a desktop helper that you should install on the computer which has your iTunes account. The app will use your Facebook account to login to both Android app and desktop helper before you can start syncing your iTunes from your computer to your Android phone on either Wi-Fi or 3G network. The beauty of Music With Me is the fact that it does not stream your iTunes music wirelessly but downloads your iTunes collection to your Android phone and then allows you to access these music files using your Phone even if its not connected online. The next time you make an update to your iTunes music library on your computer, it will be automatically synced to your Android phone while both are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. What Does Music With Me Looks Like? When it comes to interface and design, Music With Me sports a simple and yet sleek, predominantly black theme with additional red labeling. The app works fast on a Wi-Fi network but may experience slow down when in 3G network. But that will of course depend on your network speed. Overall we couldn’t say anything negative about the interface of this Android app. The workflow is enough to get the job of syncing your iTunes Music to your Android phones, done. Music With Me is available as a free download from the Android Market. You can download the Music With Me Desktop Helper App for Mac or Windows. Please wait... Please wait... PressReader Android App – Reading Interface Alright, let’s get straight to the point and discuss the PressReader reading interface since it’s the app’s best feature anyway. The moment you download a newspaper or magazine, it will be displayed immediately in full page view. You can then select the “Replica” view where links are highlighted in blue. You can tap on this link and you will be brought to specific page within the newspaper issue where you can read the article in full. While reading an article or viewing specific pages in the newspaper you can pinch or double tap to zoom in or zoom out. This is necessary when reading newspapers since there’s no way you can read the text on full-page view. From the Replica view, you can switch to “Text” view where you’ll have several options – share the article, increase/decrease font size and one cool feature which lets you listen to the article read to you by the app. There’s also the List icon which allow you to view the contents of the issue in Page or Contents view. Overall, the reading interface of PressReader is very good. Although it would have been cooler if the page-turning animation was included in the interface. But it’s not a big deal really. PressReader Android App – Getting Newspapers and Magazines PressReader contains a good collection of newspapers and magazines published worldwide. While getting the app from the Android Market is free, you need to pay for the cost of downloading individual issues of newspapers or magazines. You can check out the list of newspapers and magazines from the app’s Store option. From there you can view the list by country or by language. There’s also a search box where you can enter specific words in the title of the newspaper Read More
GO Launcher Ex Android app is an alternative Android phone launcher which is very much similar to the default Android launcher as well as another third-party launcher called Launcher Pro. Like Launcher Pro, GO Launcher EX gives you those docks which you find at the bottom of your Android phone’s screen. You can swipe it off from left to right or vice versa and you can customize if further by replacing the default option to shortcuts that you often use. From the homescreen you can select various options to change the behavior and appearance of the launcher. You can change your Android phone’s WallPaper, Search your phone, Share the app, Setup Preferences and Change Settings. GO Launcher Ex also gives you unlimited number of homescreens which you can fill up with app icons, shortcuts and useful widgets. Inside the Application screen, the app organize your apps into “All Apps,” “Currently running,” and “Recent.” Tapping on the “Currently Running” app will give you several options – lock, go to, close and information about the app. If you select close, you will be redirected to the app installation menu where you can choose whether to uninstall the app. You can also easily delete apps by long tapping on its icon which will shake off the apps and display the “x” button. For iPhone users, this is similar to how you delete apps. Simply tapping on the back button will remove this “x” button. Overall, GO Launcher Ex is a pretty nice Android launcher app. If you don’t like Spark’s different approach to the Android interface, GO Launcher Ex is an equally great option. *Spark is a pretty nifty Android app that lets you add a skin to your Android phone’s home screen. You can use this app while still keeping your phone’s current launcher app. Mind you, activating this app will completely transform your homescreen’s look and feel. The good thing is, the new home screen is pretty straight forward and easy to use. So, what makes this app different from your phone’s current home screen. Well, instead of widgets and app icons, this Android app puts various information on your phone’s home screen. What makes this feature great is the fact that some of those information especially those from your social networking sites are updated in real-time. Some of the modules that the app provides you include – Facebook and Twitter modules, Headlines and Deals. Headlines is simply news updates provided by CBS News. What’s good about these news updates is the fact that you can instantly share them via Facebook, Twitter or SMS within the Spark interface. Deals module on the other hand provides you with daily deals from various merchants in your area. At the top of your homescreen is a weather widget which is set based on your location. Below this weather widget are icons of your most frequently used apps. As it is, *Spark is a pretty good Android app that gives you an alternative interface to your Android phone’s homescreen. ABBY Business Card Reader is a pretty cool Android app that lets you capture contact information from printed business cards directly into your Android phone’s address book. This app uses ABBYY Mobile OCR technology in capturing data from business cards using your Android phone’s camera. Once you’ve scan a business card, the app will then read it, recognize information and gives you a preliminary display of the information it gathers. While the app promises accurate scanning and saving of information there will still be some flaw when doing this especially since business cards are not designed similarly. It’s a good thing that the app does not save the information immediately. It gives you a chance to edit some fields of information prior to saving them to your Android phone. Aside from saving information from business cards, the app also has some other nice features. One of this is that it lets you do a quick search in LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to find out if your contact has available information from those sites. If you find an entry, you can easily transfer their profile to your Android phone via this app. ABBYY Business Card Reader also lets you do an address search on Maps, highlights unreliably captured characters, and recognizes multi-language business cards. The app also features a sleek interface which makes it easier to use the app. Overall, ABBYY Business Card Reader is a simple and yet very useful Android app especially for the mobile warriors. It will also be useful if the person you are exchanging business cards with has already run out of copies of his or her business card. You can just ask for the last remaining copy and scan it using this Android app. In an instant you’ll have the contact information saved on your Android Read More
All My Enemies Android Game Review – Gameplay All My Enemies is a classic vertical shooter type of game. You start from the lower part of you screen, commanding a spacecraft. Enemies of various types come towards you. You shoot them down either by using tilt or touch controls which you can set at the game’s main screen. The game’s control by default is set to tilt so you might want to change it first to touch to make the game easier to play. I had a hard time going through the levels using tilt controls to maneuver my craft probably because my Nexus One is already showing signs of ageing. So, if I were you, I’ll use the touch control instead. So as a vertical shooter, you’ll start off from the lower side of your Android phone’s screen. Enemies coming from the top of the screen will fly towards you as their fire their weapons hoping to blow you away into pieces. Your main concern is to either evade enemy attacks or fire at them at will. To make the navigation of your space craft even more difficult, there will be asteroids in various sizes that will move towards you. So, you must be pretty quick to evade these asteroids or blow them away as well. Along the way, you’ll also encounter various power-ups that will improve the power of your weapons. You’ll also get to pick up other items which will help you in your campaign. One nice feature of the game is when you want to launch a nuke attack. These can hit as many enemy space crafts at the same time. To do this attach, you simply shake off your Android phone. When it comes to graphics, we couldn’t say anything negative. All My Enemies is beautifully Read More
