At the beginning of 2011 there wasn’t a single dedicated Android tablet app. Now it’s the end of the year and we are inundated with them. New Android tablets are released monthly by the likes of Samsung, Motorola and Amazon, and there’s a whole bunch of great tablet-optimized apps to go along with them. Here are some of our favorites this year. There’s no better way to experience the glory of HD movies and TV than on a fast and powerful tablet with a large, bright screen, providing you’re a subscriber to the service of course. This is why Netflix is here, and why it also made our general Best Android Apps of 2011 list. After a rough start, Android tablet users can now enjoy a Netflix experience their iPad-owning friends have been used to for a while. If you like to read magazines on your Android tablet, then Zinio is Read More

This isn’t really that big of a deal — at least not in most cases — unless some shady app developers begin impersonating Rovio and selling fake apps on the Android Market. Did I mention that some shady app developers have started impersonating Rovio and selling fake apps on the Android Market? By | 11 days ago I was recently in a bookstore and came across a couple books I was excited to check out right away. However, I didn’t grab them and run to the register as I would have a couple years ago…instead I pulled out my evernote app on my iPhone jotted down the title and author. Then as I walked out, I pulled up Amazon and purchased them with 1-click for my Kindle app. Within approximately 90 seconds I had the books in my hand, and for cheaper than the bookstore price. Mobile apps…are my best friend for a person who’s on the go constantly and wants everything easily accessible from a simple and easy to use device. Nowadays the saying “there’s an app for that” goes without saying. However, is the app really that great? Is it inexpensive? Quick to download? Easy to use? Have an intuitive interface? Read More
free; $45 per year for optional subscription If you weren't an early adopter of Evernote, the freemium note-taking and organization app that synchs all your files to a cloud service, there's no shame in being a late adopter of this outstanding service. Think of Evernote as your digital brain, a place to store everything from typed notes, to photos, to audio messages, to Web clips. The Evernote interface lets you access and search all your bits and pieces of information—anything you want to remember or be able to look up later. On every device, tablets included, Evernote works smoothly, looks great, and most importantly, integrates with dozens of other apps and services. What I like best about Evernote is how it automates synchronization, a fail-safe measure in case you forget to put your files back in the cloud when you're done working on them. Read More
Early Bird is a fun new title from Booyah, Inc, who also brought us DJ Rivals, one of the first games I ever reviewed here. It's a fun casual arcade title which will likely draw many comparisons to Angry Birds for simply having birds in it, but this game has an identity all its own. It's basically Angry Birds mixed with miniature golf, when you boil it down. The goal of each level is to get your feathered friend to the worm by swiping to make him fly for a short amount of time. You can only fly a certain number of times per level, which basically acts as your par for the course. Getting to the worm hole under par is the only way you're going to get all three stars for a level, and often times the other score producing mechanics don't even really matter. I missed every collectible Read More

Best apps for avoiding studying

We all know that apps can help you study and be quite educational but all work and now play makes Jack and Jill dull boys and girls. So, we’ll take a look at some of the best apps to help you blow off some steam after spending hours hitting those books. Yes, Rovio’s Angry Birds is not a unique or novel pick but there’s a reason why it’s such a world-wide hit: Using these angry birds to destroy those dastardly pigs is an absolute blast. If it were just a fun, silly and repetitive game, I wouldn’t be recommending it at the top of my list but what really stands out to me about this game is that Rovio completely understands how constantly updating its games can bring added value and make these games infinitely re-playable. It’s not hard to find this game, as you can download it on the iPhone, Read More

Worth Reading? +4 [4 votes] As you may have already heard, guessed, or found out for yourself via paying very close attention to the newest apps on the market list, the original Angry Birds has been updated with 15 new pig-ridden levels for your full enjoyment! This whole new scenario is set underground, where the pigs have taken it upon themselves to continue to hide away your bird eggs, seeking to tower themselves below some rather precariously hanging stalagtites – that’s the kind hanging from above! See below for a FULL SPOILER of this newest set of Angry action. This update includes 15 levels but is host to 45 levels when it really comes down to it. This Mine and Dine update shows itself to have three screens at least of levels, only one single set of 15 available to you upon completion of the first Angry Birds set of levels, Read More

If you want to know what a phenomenon looks like, just take a look at the Angry Birds franchise, as Rovio just announced that the pig-killing game has been downloaded more than 200 million times across all platforms. That’s an astonishing number for any game or program and it shows that the Angry Birds franchise is not just some flash in the pan. What I really like about the franchise is that Rovio has been smart about adapting it for the right environments. The Angry Birds iPhone game was extremely popular for months before it even came to the Android platform, as millions were eager to plunk down a buck or two to kill those dastardly pigs. But Rovio knew that the Android crowd is not quite as willing to pay for apps, so it released a free, ad-supported model that has been taking up the time of many Android users. Read More

Angry Birds gamers with Android smartphones will soon be able to enjoy the insanely popular game without obtrusive in-app adverts after games developers Rovio took to Twitter to confirm an ad-free version of the game was almost ready. Rovio’s Twitter message came in response to a number of questions on whether a paid-app was nearing release, stating “give us another month and we’ll be there”: Rovio initially launched the Angry Birds beta for free on the Android Market, topping 1 million downloads in under two weeks. When the game publicly launched, it was released as an ad-supported app on alternative Android marketplace GetJar, earning the company a reported $1 million a month from advertising alone. Angry Birds has surpassed the 50 million download mark worldwide and is now available on smartphones, the Mac App Store and also on Windows PC’s. Posting a new entry to its company blog, Rovio has announced that Android smartphone owners in Finland will now be able to purchase the Mighty Eagle and other in-game content using its new Bad Piggy Bank payments system. The announcement comes as part of an Angry Birds update for iOS and Android devices which delivers new levels and a new Super Bowl promotion which goes live later today. Initially, only Finnish Android users will be able to take advantage of Bad Piggy Bank payments, a system that utilises in-app SMS billing to pay for game content. With this additional functionality, credit card payments are replaced with SMS messages which are charged to a users monthly bill. When downloading or updating the app, users will notice that the Angry Birds installation process will now seek SMS permission, enabling the app to incorporate the mobile payment capability in the new version. The Best Android Apps
Calendar16 Tue, 01 Feb 2011 00:24:07 UTC +00:00
Finding stellar Android apps isn't the easiest task, but that certainly doesn't mean they don't exist. Here's the cream of the crop. Twitter: The official Twitter app is good enough for almost everyone. Along with giving you a clean, easy way to keep track of your timeline and updating your status, Twitter for Android also has a snazzy swipe down to refresh feature. Free. Facebook: Facebook is finally decent on Android and now actually brings some unique features, namely the front page side-scroll of friend's recent photos and a pull up notification window. Free. Google+: It's Google's big soiree into social "sharing". The app has it all: a stream that shows what your friends are talking about (like Facebook), Huddle which is an easy to set up group chats (like GroupMe) and will even automatically upload the pictures you take on your phone to the cloud (like iCloud). Once you get Read More

It's amazing how little variation there is in the top game downloads week after week. It seems that the only thing to have a major impact on the list is when big companies put their games on sale. There's no major sale going on this week, so today's list looks strikingly similar to the lists over the past few weeks. In fact, the only game we haven't seen on here before is Burn the Rope, a fun puzzle game that our reviewer liked quite a bit. See the rest of the list below. #1: Angry Birds Our Score: 4/4 Our Bottom Line: Destructive physics help make this a very charming puzzler, and the great level variety seals the deal. #2: Burn The Rope Our Score: 3/4 Our Bottom Line: Burn the Rope has the inventiveness that makes the best puzzle games interesting. #3: Fruit Ninja Our Score: 4/4 Our Bottom Line: Read More

Worth Reading? We all love free apps, and although it’s great not having to pay for an application, the advertisements can certainly hinder the user experience. If you have opened up Angry Birds lately then you might have noticed a full length video ad before startup. Android users were considered lucky to have their port of Angry Birds available for free, but after many annoying advertisements, that can break up gameplay, and now this, I’m sure many of us would be willing to drop the $.99 to just have an uninterrupted gameplay experience. What do you think? Have you noticed these ads? Are they worth getting the whole game for free? Let us know in the comment section below! [Via AndroidAndMe] Read More

Angry Birds/Angry Birds Seasons  If you haven't heard of this game, you should be ashamed of yourself. Now that you are, Angry Birds is an epic action/puzzle game by developer Rovio Mobile that involves catapulting birds with various abilities at a bunch of pigs. While that may sound silly and you may question as to why the birds, being birds, need a catapult to fly, the game is insanely addictive. Little wonder that it is the top selling game on the iOS App Store. The developers recently ported the game over to Android but with one major difference. While the iOS game costs $0.99 the Android version is free of cost, but ad supported.  The game is just as addictive on Android as it was on the iOS, and Rovio is kind enough to add new levels with a new update without adding to the cost, which stays at $0.00. The mega smash hit that it is Angry Birds has now eclipsed 10 million downloads for Android.  Offered as a free game, the developers (Rovio) have been making crazy money out of the ads displayed in the app - crazy to the tune of a million bucks per month.  So what's next for the game?  How about being able to pay to remove those little ads? Rovio's Peter Vesterbacka, speaking in a live-streamed press announcement, indicated that in-game purchases will start in Finland shortly and then hit the rest of the world in the new year.  The system, called Bad Piggy Bank, will not use credit cards for purchases.  Rather ,the user will see the charges on their mobile phone bill instead.  We assume this means the Mighty Eagle will coming shortly! Rovio also plans to make their in-app platform available other Android developers down the road. How much would you pay Read More
Worth Reading? 0 [4 votes] Angry Birds developer Rovio has announced a new in-app payment system that will debut on Android, charging upgrades – such as to remove the adverts in the free title, or to buy the upcoming “Mighty Eagle” update – directly to a user’s cellphone bill rather than demanding credit card details. “Bad Piggy Bank” will also be made available to other Android app developers, according to Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka, potentially filling a gap for in-app payments on the Android platform. The roll-out will begin with Finnish carrier Elisa, before a global roll-out in 2011; it requires carrier agreements so as to process the payments on a user’s cellphone account. Meanwhile Vestabacka also revealed that Angry Birds has seen a total of 50m downloads to-date, a fifth of which have been on Android. [via TechCrunch] Read More

Update: Some users of older devices are reporting issues with the Angry Birds Seasons game, rendering it unplayable. If you’re having this issue, be sure to let us know in the comments. Rovio has long been promising a Christmas-themed version of their insanely popular Angry Birds game. Earlier this morning, their promise came to fruition in Angry Birds – Seasons. The new Seasons application contains a countdown to Christmas, with 25 new Christmas themed levels. Each day in December, a new level will be unlocked for your playing pleasure. This last point will likely cause some griping about only being able to play one level and having to wait to take on the next challenge, but Rovio has something else up their sleeves they think might hold you over. by Prepare for “A Very Angry Birds Christmas” this holiday season. Rovio, the company behind the insanely popular franchise, has confirmed via Twitter that Angry Birds Halloween will be receiving a special yuletide-themed update. The update, which will be free for owners of Angry Birds Halloween for iOS, is expected sometime in early December. Android Angry Birds fans will be happy to know that the Christmas edition will also be available to them — for free. The ad-supported Android version of the app has been downloaded more than 7 million times since its release in October. On the iOS side, the game continues to be one of the best-selling iOS apps of all time, with more than 10 million paid downloads. Leaks of the Christmas edition appeared on a Finnish website last week, and Rovio confirmed that the update is indeed imminent on Twitter. Angry Birds may rule the mobile gaming Read More
There is no denying that Angry Birds is the most popular apps on the Android Market. The free game just went live in October and it has already passed 7 million downloads. That number is expected to continue growing since Rovio announced a light version was also in the works for low-performance Android phones. In order to celebrate the success of Angry Birds on Android, Rovio will be releasing a special Christmas edition sometime in the next few weeks. Details are limited but the iOS exclusive Halloween edition added 45 new levels. No release date was provided, but December 11th is the first official Angry Birds Day, which marks the one year anniversary of the game’s release on iOS. One thing that Angry Birds has proved is that the freemium model works quite well on Android when you have the volume to support it. I have no idea how much money Read More

Rovio's promising a Christmas edition of Angry Birds, saying it will be offered as a free upgrade to the Halloween version. The company tweeted on Friday to say that a release date would be dependent on Apple's approval of the app. The game will initially be available for Android and iOS devices only, although Rovio is hinting at a Windows 7 version. And  Finnish website Ylex has pictures, showing birds and pigs alike wearing Santa hats and a barrier of Christmas trees through which which the angry birds have to smash in order to reach their porcine enemies. New levels have also been added. Rovio looks to be aiming to capitalise on the success of the game with a series of merchandising spin-offs. The company's already marketing Angry Birds plush toys, due to go on sale in December, for $14.99. Last week, the Daily Telegraph reported that Rovio is planninng versions Read More

March 25th m’lady and I will welcome our first child into the world. We found out the gender on the fifth of this month. What makes this event just a little extra special is that this is the first grand and great grandchild on my side of the family. While everyone knew that we knew the gender we decided to hold off the answer until Thanksgiving; we figured the anticipation would make the answer that much sweeter. So, yesterday came and everyone gathered up at my Dad and Mom’s house, as tradition has always dictated. We walked in and after our round of hellos and hugs we were bombarded with: “Ok, what is it?”. We expected this and calmly told everyone that we will tell everyone when we sat down for dinner. For the next few hours we were repeatedly poked and prodded in hopes that one of us would slip Read More
Ah Rovio, how we love you! Today, Rovio confirmed, after some images appeared online (see above), that they are indeed planning a Christmas edition of their popular game, Angry Birds. Being an Angry Birds fanatic, I’m excited! I would love to see another Angry Birds game, or an update to the one on the Market, depending on how they’re going to do it. Rovio also confirmed on Twitter that they have had over 7 million downloads of Angry Birds on Android alone. Seven million downloads is a crazy number. It shows how much Android is growing and how much the market for great games on Android is growing. Now, Angry Birds day is on December 11th and you know, to me, that sounds like it would be a great release day for Christmas Angry Birds. What do you think of a Christmas edition of Angry Birds? It may only be Thanksgiving, which consequently means that December 25 (Christmas) is still a month away, but it looks like Rovio Mobile, the company behind the insanely popular Angry Birds, is already stocking up on Christmas gifts. Finnish website mtv3.fi yesterday acquired the following screenshot from what is presumably the Christmas version of Angry Birds: That screenie does look a little squished, which could cause suspicion, but the company's Twitter account once again gave it all away: The fact that the first annual Angry Birds fan meetup is going down on December 11th has caused some to mark that as the date for the game's release, but according to mtv3.fi, it will be here before Read More

Posted by Comments Angry-bird craving consumers have spoke and Rovio Mobile is listening. Rovio has decided to develop a lighter version of Angry Birds, one of the best-selling apps for Android, so that lower-end devices and other un-supported devices will be able to download and install the game. This is great news for the small percentage of users who reported errors trying to run the game. Initially, when Angry Birds was released in October, Android users were hungry to get a hold of the popular game. In fact, they caused the servers at Getjar to crash momentarily due to the large amount of downloads! Of course, a lot of this was due to the fact that Angry Birds wasn’t initially available in the Android Market until a few hours after it’s release. Getjar reported over 90,000 downloads in a matter of 3 hours. Fragmentation has been a key part to this issue with Read More

Angry Birds Not Supported On Older Android Phones
Calendar16 Mon, 22 Nov 2010 04:56:00 UTC +00:00
Rovio, developers of the incredibly addictive Angry Birds game, has admitted that it can't get the game to run with "optimal performance" on all Android phones. In a blog post, the company listed 17 handsets that are not officially supported, and said it was creating a special lightweight version of the game for these phones. In other words, a developer of a popular application now has to make two separate versions for what is supposed to be one platform. This is exactly the kind of platform fragmentation that Steve Jobs was talking about during his epic rant on Apple's last earnings call. And that Google CEO Eric Schmidt denied during his talk at Web 2.0 on Monday. (Video here.) Every computer platform has shifts that break application compatibility. Apple's done it with the Mac. Microsoft did it between Windows XP, and has started releasing products like Internet Explorer 9 that won't Read More
Angry Birds struggle to take on Androids • The Register
Calendar16 Mon, 22 Nov 2010 04:55:06 UTC +00:00
Angry Birds developer Rovio is mulling creating multiple versions for different Android handsets, as fragmentation of the platform causes headaches for anyone not using Adobe's Flash. Angry Birds is hugely popular on iOS, and was eagerly anticipated for Android, but the fragmentation of the Android platform has prompted Rovio company to post a list of 17 handsets on which Angry Birds just won't work. It also announced that it's working on a lightweight version for the differently-able handsets. No such problems over at the BBC, which has pulled the iPlayer streams used by third-party android app myPlayer, claiming the cross-platform capabilities of Adobe's Flash make platform-specific versions redundant - excepting iOS, and BlackBerry, of course. It's true that with Froyo installed and the latest Flash client downloaded, iPlayer does indeed work on Android without the need for a native application; and the BBC reckons that supporting the fragmented Android platform would Read More

The Angry Birds phenomenon just keeps rocking the mobile world, and soon a second Android version will be rocking low-end handsets with older versions of the OS. Rovio Mobile blogged today that many owners of Android handsets — those running older versions of the OS in particular — are reporting problems running the game. These performance issues are forcing Rovio to develop a second Android version of Angry Birds that can run properly on these cheaper phones. The version under development is a lightweight version designed to run on Android phones with lesser processors and older Android versions according to Rovio: So far, we have hesitated to create multiple versions of Angry Birds for the Android platform. Angry Birds coming to more Android handsets
Calendar16 Fri, 19 Nov 2010 17:43:17 UTC +00:00
The Angry Birds franchise has been pretty successful on the Android side but not every handset is fully compatible with the full version of the game. Rovio has your back though, as the company is working on more versions of the game for more Android handsets. Rovio will be developing a lightweight Angry Birds which will be able to run on Android handsets which may not have top-of-the-line processing power. This won’t mean these versions will have less levels but the bird-flinging game will be optimized for lower-powered devices. Angry Birds Shows What Android Fragmentation Means
Calendar16 Fri, 19 Nov 2010 17:41:54 UTC +00:00
Angry Birds on Android is a Good Thing: a massively popular game making its way to Android, which is relatively gaming-starved. It's also one of the most pointed examples of Android fragmentation. Here's a list of all the Android phones that Angry Birds isn't officially supported on, listed in a blog post by developer Rovio: Droid Eris HTC Dream HTC Hero HTC Magic/Sapphire/Mytouch 3G HTC Tattoo HTC Wildfire Huawei Ideos/U8150 LG Ally/Aloha/VS740 LG GW620/Eve Motorola Backflip/MB300 Motorola Cliq/Dext Samsung Acclaim Samsung Moment/M900 Samsung Spica/i5700 Samsung Transform Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini T-Mobile G1 T-Mobile G2 Rovio says that, despite having "hesitated to create multiple versions of Angry Birds" for Android, that's exactly what they're being forced to do in order to meet their goal of having it available on as many Android phones as possible. So they're creating a "lightweight solution" to run on devices that don't currently support Angry Birds, Read More
As popular as Angry Birds has become on Android one would think everybody under the son has downloaded and enjoyed the hot little time waster.  Sadly, the game could be doing much better for itself, considering all of the phones which cannot properly play the instant classic.  Rovio understands this and has taken to their blog to highlight the issue and set the table for what lies ahead.   Look for a 'lightweight' version of Angry Birds to arrive before too long which should be playable on "lower end devices".  This is not to say the game will be missing features or levels, but rather it will be optimized for less processing power.  Rovio lists handsets which are not officially supported yet and it's actually a mixed bag of old and new.  If your phone is on the list, sit patiently and you'll be happy. Following a rather mixed reception to the latest update of Android Angry Birds, developer Rovio has announced it’s working on a standalone, simpler “lightweight” version of the game that’ll run better on older, less powerful Android phones. It’ll be the same in terms of gameplay, level structure and content, only with presumably less intense graphics so it’ll play smoother on older Android devices. Here’s the relevant part from Rovio’s blog on the subject: So far, we have hesitated to create multiple versions of Angry Birds for the Android platform. But judging by the feedback we have received, we feel that by providing a lightweight solution, we are doing a favour for our fans. We are currently developing a lighter solution to run Angry Birds on lower end Android devices. Angry Bird and Android have both become so popular, it was only a matter of time before someone used one to exploit the other. You might have already heard, but Google recently pulled a fake version of Angry Birds that infests your Android handset with a slew of malicious apps.  They have also sent out a security fix for those that may have downloaded the faulty application. CNETt tells us that Jon Oberheide, chief technology officer of Scio Security, created a proof-of-concept app disguised as an expansion for the popular Angry Birds game. After the app was downloaded, three additional apps were installed without the user's knowledge that had permission to perform malicious activities but were benign. What's your thoughts on situations like this where developers exploit Google and the Market policies?  How do you feel about Google stepping in after the fact?  Should they take a more proactive approach? U.S. Read More
This lovely little app installs additional apps, tracks your phone, steals contact details, and more! Hooray! Security researchers Jon Oberheide and Zach Lanier plan to today have a talk at an Intel security conference in Hillsboro, Oregon about a bug they’ve found in Google’s Android OS that allows legitimately downloaded apps do some evil things to your phone. According to these two researchers, this buy allows these legit apps download more apps to your phone secretly and invisibly, apps that can have “free reign” over your phone without your permission. Woopsie! That’s not good. The Fake Angry Birds update app is one that these researchers have created to display the break in the system: this app actually installs a suite of programs that can track your phones location, steal your contact, and sent expensive text messages, just like that *snap*! Forbes reports Oberheide saying the following: “In the past, we’ve focused Read More
You know those app permissions you’re supposed to read before installing apps from the Android Market (you do read them right?). Well it turns out that you might needn't have bothered. A security exploit, discovered by researchers Jon Oberheide and Zach Lanier, allows attackers to skip listing permissions if they want to. To demonstrate the risk, the pair created a fake Angry Birds app and unleashed it on the Market. Instead of giving gamers the promised extra levels, the fake app instead installed a raft of programs that could steal contact info and send texts to premium rate numbers. Note that we said could. We should be thankful that this is the work of a white hat team and not malicious hackers. The pair are due to demonstrate the security risk at a conference today hosted by Intel. Hopefully this exploit can be patched up without much fuss. In the meantime Read More
"Angry Birds" For Android Gets a Massive Update
Calendar16 Tue, 09 Nov 2010 00:00:00 UTC +00:00
by Rovio, the team behind the insanely popular Angry Birds mobile games, has just released its first big update for Angry Birds for Android. Since its release last month, Angry Birds has been downloaded more than 2 million times for Android devices. The new update not only provides some bug fixes, but in true Angry Birds fashion, offers up a serving of new content as well.Angry Birds 1.4.3 for Android now supports QVGA graphics — meaning users who have compact screens can now play the game without issue on their phones. The update also fixes some problems some users had running Angry Birds on Android 1.6, including blank screens and white textures. The big news, however, is the inclusion of the episode “The Big Setup.” This is the most recent Angry Birds episode series and it brings Angry Birds for Android up to 195 total levels, which is on-par with Angry Read More
Worth Reading? +5 [9 votes] Put down your work, close your laptop and lock the kids into the cupboard under the stairs: the newest version of Angry Birds is here, and it wants your complete and undivided attention. The update adds 45 new levels to the popular game, as well as QVGA support and various bugfixes. There’s also a new, fatter bird on offer. You can download Angry Birds via the Android Market or at GetJar. [via Android Police] Read More
If you’ve already beat the game (meaning 3 stars on every stage and the musical bit), and you’ve already dressed up as one of its starring characters for Halloween, and you’ve already won the Halloween version of the app, and you’re still in love with Angry Birds, you’re bound to enjoy this. It’s a stop-motion, construction paper (like South Park) animation of the gameplay. Awesome! This is one of those instant-forward items that must be seen. At least for my mother, who has gone farther in the iPhone version of this app than any of you sorry excuses for slingers are likely to! She earned her plush toy Christmas present! The RemoteCall app enables users to grant remote access to an LG technician for running diagnostic tests, without having to bring the handset to a service center. Trying the remote access app out on our LG Optimus 3D review unit, we had to follow several steps. First you'll have to access the app on your LG phone (currently limited only to the Optimus 2X, Optimus Black and Optimus 3D) and call the customer service hotline to request for remote control, then key in the provided six-digit PIN number. While on the line with an LG technician, you'll be able to keep tabs on what he is accessing, as well as maintain control over your phone. You also don't have to worry about privacy issues with your personal information, such as passwords or even photos. This is because you can choose to accept or deny the technician's requests to access apps, such Read More

Have you ever wanted to peek ahead to those locked worlds in Angry Birds that are unavailable before fully completing the previous ones? A bug (or an Easter egg) in the Android version of the game lets you do just that, a reddit user braaaiins found. I tried it just a few minutes ago with 100% success. Of course, many would argue that you should be going in order and playing the way Rovio meant for you to play, and I'd agree with them. However, there will always be people who would also find this unlock useful (lost game progress, new phone, angrybirdyism, etc), so I'll just put this here, and you can quietly walk away. We never met. Here is what you can expect:    Instructions: Enjoy! p.s. To the devs of Angry Birds... THANK YOU Read More

Who would have thought that one of the most addicting mobile games to ever hit the Android platform would get over 2 million downloads since its release on Friday? It’s easy to understand why so many folks downloaded the new Angry Birds full version; it’s excellent and it’s completely free. According to a post from Rovio, Angry Birds has been downloaded around 2 million times. There is no mention if they are counting Market downloads only, or combined GetJar and Market downloads, but we can imagine that there are even more downloads because of the download mirrors that were put up to combat the unavailability of the app. Angry Birds for Android launched on Friday of last week on the Android Market, but first on the third party application market, GetJar. The app was released for free and created a flurry of downloaders not being able to get the app as Read More

Yes, folks, we're well aware that Angry Birds will drop any minute now (through more likely in a few hours). And, yes, we're well aware that there's a "leaked" full version out there that's got Google ads built in. Pretty crafty, eh? A "leaked" version of an extremely popular game that contains ads surfaces just as anticipation crescendos. Hmmmmmm. (Actually, it probably just means there will be a paid version and a lite version. Or not. Pick your conspiracy theory.) Anyhoo, no, we're not going to show off video of us playing the full version. We all know what Angry Birds looks like. In the meantime, if you need us, we'll be off ... erm ... not playing the leaked version of Angry Birds. Really. Update: And as you no doubt have seen, it's now here. If you do want to see video of Angry Birds in action, here are the Read More
Rovio launched its full Android version of Angry Birds on Friday and the popular multi-platform game caused a stir. The game launched exclusively with GetJar and promptly crashed their servers. Despite its efforts, GetJar was unable to ramp up fast enough to meet demand and Rovio had to launch the app in the Android Market earlier than planned. With two marketplaces offering the app for download, Android fans were finally able to snag the download and launch some birds at those wily pigs. Rovio confirmed via Twitter this weekend that the number of downloads on that first rocky day exceeded one million. While Angry Birds is not the first application to break this notable milestone, it did so with unsurpassed rapidity. Other applications like Adobe Flash 10.1 and Skyfire for Android have been downloaded one million times but it took those apps weeks and months to reach that number, not hours. This milestone Read More
Angry Birds has finally been liberated from beta for Android users, marking a big release for Rovio Mobile. The popular title has been in test mode for some time, and the full-version release was a highly anticipated one. The coming launch of Full Tilt Poker promises live play to Android, while Namco’s planning an Android release of PacMan Rally Cart. Angry Birds is here, with a team of feathered fighters determined to defend their territory. Bombing the enemy pigs with unique powers, each bird plays an important role in this game. The free Android app offers great gameplay, with 150 levels to solve, making for countless mini-adventures to kill some time. Galactic battler Sinister Planet received an update this week, with support for Android 2.1 and higher. This classic arcade game sends you on a journey through space, shooting alien ships that get in your way. Don’t get caught off guard Read More

I can't install the update. It says it can't install to usb or sd card. There's plenty of space in my sdcard anyone experiencing this?

Would get 5 stars if it didn't lag bad sometimes, and if the pop ups didn't block the view of the bird. Ally.

The ads have become so intrusive, one cannot play the game. When an as covers the entire too upid the board, well, its ridiculous

The game is excellent, but completely hobbled by the ads which block out the critical part of the screen. Five stars if I could buy an ad free version
