Animoog is the newest iPad app from Moog Music. Despite being a four letter word, when it comes to synthesis, names don’t get much bigger than Moog. A legend in analogue synthesis, Moog’s contributions to the growing iOS musical apps scene are always fascinating. Animoog is the latest of such efforts. Proving that disses aren’t the sole preserve of the hip-hop community, Moog have billed their newest app as the first “professional” analogue synthesis app for the iPad. Ouch. So what separates Animoog from the slew of other music apps out there? And does it justify its hefty $30 price tag? Well the engine behind Animoog is Moog’s new Anisotropic Synthesis Engine, a name alone that sounds expensive. Fortunately this isn’t just clever branding as Animoog captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers, bottling years of experience into a formidable looking interface. Korg’s “mission statement” as far as Animoog is Read More

iPad Only App $29.99 Our Review By Greg Dawson on October 31st, 2011 Rating: :: POLY SYNTH Animoog is quite possibly the best music creation app available today. Developer: Price: $.99 Version: 1.0.0 App Reviewed on: iPad iPad Integration Rating: User Interface Rating: Re-use / Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: Music, in my opinion, is about discovery. Whether it be discovering one’s self, exploring a mood or contemplating life’s unknowns, it enhances experiences. Picture prom without slow songs or action films without intense sound effects or scary movies without the deathly sounds of a single high-pitched piano key strike sounding one at a time in slow intervals. Thanks to music pioneers such as the late Dr. Robert “Bob” Moog, inventor of the Moog synthesizer and Founder of Moog Music Inc., the path of innovation and discovery continues with Animoog, the world’s first professional polyphonic synthesizer. This isn’t the company’s first foray Read More

We've got games and music for you, and something to celebrate a little fall classic you might know as the World Series. Save more than just pennies on these apps, with big big price cuts.  This iPad only isn't a true price drop, but we couldn't not bring this one to our music loving readers' attention. Just downloaded it. After 10 minutes with Moog's latest creation, I am giddy with excitement. The sounds coming out of this are unbelievable. It's deep and I'm looking forward to spending lots of time with this one. I love Synthesizer, but this is a whole different animal. Five stars.

animoog sounds great and is capable of futuristic as well as retro sounds. the analog presets are impressive and have that moog signature. the "keyboard" is responsive. it opens up the filter if you slide your finger upward while playing. because it is polyphonic, you can have different notes respond differently to LFOs as the filter opens up. the x/y pad is a cool visualization and effects the sound differently depending on the preset. Sometimes it affects the filter and other times it seems to affect the timbre of the sound itself. There seem to be a decent amount of timbres to create presets with. The filter sounds very nice as do the effects which include drive, delay, crush as well as a drive in the filter section. There are adjustments for the orbit part of the x/y pad that include x and y amount, rate and a sync button. You can change scales for the keyboard. The mono and legato buttons are on tht page also. There are amp, filter, and mod envelopes on the env/mod page. It includes 4 mods with source, control, and destination for each. The LFO has rate, sync, and keyboard trigger. The shape gradually changes from sine through triangle and square before reaching s & h. Looks like you can record, copy and paste, import and export presets. It's got core midi so I will be trying it with the little phatty. I probably missed something. It looks great and sounds amazing. I would have paid the $29.99 price without hesitating. Nice job MOOG!
Great
