AT&T U-verse remote DVR app launches for the iPhone (iPhones Talk)

AT&T has released a free iPhone and iPod touch application that allows U-verse subscribers control their DVR systems remotely, which seems to be all the rage these days with DVR systems. The app, U-verse TV Mobile Remote Access, can display program listings and full descriptions of individual shows, as well as allow users to schedule program or series recordings. It’s also possible to edit existing schedules, whether they have been initiated from the iPhone app or on the DVR itself. Should you not have enough free space, existing stored content can be remotely deleted as well. AT&T recently boosted the connection speed for their U-verse subscribers, together with adding more flexibility in controlling recordings and downloading movie content. The company has been discussing an iPhone app for U-verse since September last year, and finally got around to releasing it late last week. Posted on Jun 28th, 2009 by Maggie Mills in

Control your Comcast Cable services with the new Comcast iPhone app (IntoMobile)

AT&T has already done it (iTunes link). DirecTV is all about it. Now, Comcast has thrown their own iPhone app into the mix. The digital cable television, phone and high-speed internet provider has just launched a new iPhone app that allows customers to control their Cable, Voice and Data services from the palm of their hand. Literally. The new iPhone app from Comcast will sync iPhone contacts to the Comcast Universal Address Book and tie it in with the Comcast Digital Voice service (if you have it). Never again will you be left wondering who called or who left a message. You can even forward phone calls from your home line to your iPhone. Users can browse Comcast’s TV schedule, set reminders for that all important episode of “Gossip Girl,” tell your friends about shows you like to watch (as long as they are Comcast subscribers), and even watch movie trailers

AT&T releases U-verse iPhone app – watch your DVR on the go (IntoMobile)

Right on cue, AT&T has released its U-verse iPhone app and the program enables U-verse customers to download their shows and watch them on the go without a data connection. The AT&T U-verse Apple iPhone app enables users to sync with their home DVR service and download shows and movies over WiFi. You’ll then be able to watch your recorded content on your handset without having to worry about data coverage. The Apple iPhone app also enables users to program their DVR on the go, as well as view content schedules. You’ll need to be a U-verse subscriber, of course, and you need the U300 package or higher. “Our U-verse multi-screen promise is now a reality for millions of U-verse TV customers, with content available on U-verse TV, U-verse Online, and today, U-verse Mobile,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer, AT&T, in a prepared statement. “No cable provider comes close to

Between finishing up and getting through traffic, you’ll never get home in time to shower — OH GOD WAIT FORGET SHOWERING!!11 You forgot to set the DVR to record Desperate Housewives, and now it’s over. Enter AT&T’s U-verse Mobile. U-Verse is AT&T’s “better than cable” (while still technically being cable) television experience, which allows for things like playing shows from one DVR in the house on another, or watching multiple TV shows at once on the same screen (because people do that, apparently.)
AT&T Launches U-verse TV App for Android, BlackBerry 9300 (IntoMobile)

Last week at the Windows Phone 7 launch, AT&T announced that they were going to launch their U-verse mobile TV service for Microsoft’s rebooted mobile platform, but that hardly means AT&T is leaving their other platform partners out in the cold. Today, they announced that the recently-launched BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 and a whole batch of new and upcoming Android devices (like the Bravo and Flipside) are able to schedule and record TV shows on your home DVR remotely, as well as download programs over Wi-Fi and watch them whereever you happen to be. The U-verse app for iPhone has been available since the late summer, and with these two last OSes, AT&T has tied in their digital TV service with all of their high-end mobile devices pretty nicely. You can only download shows if you subscribe to the U300 package ($87/month or higher). One of my favourite parts of U-verse
