Impressive, but now what? I really had no idea since there were no instructions on how to operate the app either in the app, or on the Readdle site. This, as I've often said, is a major downfall of many of the apps in the store. Classics is on sale for free – normally $2.99 Classics is an extremely impressive book library for your iPod Touch and iPhone. Classics is streamlined, quick, and doesn’t lag, unlike many other book apps. The library to choose from is pretty unique, ranging from The Call of the Wild to The Art of War, and the selection is pretty beefy, clocking in about 20 full-length works. The books are a joy to flip through, and the app has a set of rather neat features (bookmarks, reading multiple books at once) that set it apart from other mobile bookshelves. Lo más curioso es que el aspecto de la aplicación, es prácticamente idéntico al de la futura aplicación anunciada ayer para el iPad: iBooks. O más bien, iBooks es casi diéntico a Classics (desconozco si classics se ha basado en alguna otra aplicación anterior). Lástima que Classics solo disponga de libros en inglés, que no se puedan adquirir más y que no tenga opciones de tamaño de letras y demás, porque sino sería una buena opción (a falta de una versión de iBooks adaptada) para leer libros. Aunque si sabéis inglés y os gustan las novelas clásicas, podéis aprovechar para adquirir la aplicación ya que se encuentra en oferta a precio 0€. The list of features explained on the site includes much of what we saw yesterday -- Safari, Mail, YouTube, video ... all but iBooks and the iBookstore. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a footnote stating that iBooks will be U.S.-only at launch. In the meantime, all iPhone/iPod touch apps will run on the iPad, international uses can grab the Kindle app [Free - iTunes link] (the irony is not lost on us), Classics [Free - iTunes link] or any of the other ereaders in the App Store [iTunes link]. Of course, we're a few months out of launch so things might change. But we're not holding our breath. There are lots of ebook readers available for the iPhone, but where Classics sets itself apart is with an exquisite user interface that mimics the feeling of going to a bookshelf, getting a hardcover book, and paging through it. However, there is a little something to be said about the feeling of turning a page instead of just scrolling down a stream of uninterrupted text, and so this limited time offer to download the Classics ebook app for free is interesting. Classics features over a dozen literary classics (the devs sometimes add a few more via an app update), and every title features chapters and cover art. I personally still prefer Stanza because of the built-in bookstore and the ability to add most any other book you own, but Classics’ main strength right now is the great page-turning animations.  It’s silly, but I sometimes think I’ll get a paper cut from the bloody thing.
