Use Your iPhone 3GS As Your Reading Glasses (Apple iPhone Apps)

Freeverse recently released an extremely practical app called Eye Glasses, an app which is targeted at the older iPhone crowd, or just generally for those who have a difficult time reading small text or viewing small details. Eye Glasses is also a perfect app for those of you who constantly forget your reading glasses at home, or simply for those who just don’t like carrying them around wherever you go for an occasional use; and since your iPhone is always with you, you will never be without the ability to read that utterly important fine print. Eye Glasses‘ simplicity is definitely one of its bullet points. You can choose between four levels of magnification located at the bottom of the screen, ranging from 2x, 4x, 6x, or 8x, then just point the iPhone’s camera at whatever it is you need magnified. Freeverse recommends the use of an iPhone 3GS since its

There’s an app for that: Eye Glasses for iPhone (iSource)

The iPhone would still look ridiculous mounted to your head by a set of frames (and, technically, you’d be a cyclops), but using the iPhone 3GS as a magnifying glass is a pretty sweet idea. Eye Glasses comes with four digital zoom levels, and although it works with any iPhone model, you’re obviously going to have the best experience with the 3GS and its auto-focus lens. At $2.99 my first gut feel is that you could probably find a zoom camera app for a lower price, but the interface probably wouldn’t be as reading-friendly.

Freeverse Eye Glasses App for iPhone arrives (IntoMobile)

Freeverse has announced the release of Eye Glasses, an iPhone application that clearly displays objects that are too small to make out – from fine print to photo details! Eye Glasses uses the autofocusing camera to clearly display text or imagery. To use Eye Glasses, users choose between four different levels of magnification, from 2x, 4x, 6x or 8x, point the iPhone camera at the item, and see it magnified on the screen as the camera sharpens the image. Apparently, the app is ideal for farsighted individuals, those with reading glasses or bifocals, senior citizens and anyone that just needs to see more clearly. I have to say, if the magnification is well-implemented, then it should be very good – I’m a fan of the auto-focus on the anyway, so an App that makes extra use of this is welcom, IMHO. Eye Glasses is now available in the Apple App Store
