Were you watching the two-hour season premiere of House last night on Fox? Maybe you were watching one of the other prime-time shows, but if you had your eyes on the screen during some of the commercial breaks, you probably saw at least one of the three new iPhone ads that hit the airwaves last night. Each of the new ads highlights a total of six apps, up from the three that were formerly the focus of the older ads. The first ad I saw last night, "Dine," looks at Zagat to Go, QuickOffice, TripCase, New York Subway 09, Epicurious Recipes & Shopping List, and Gap Style Mixer. [Note: all app links will open the iTunes App Store] I'm happy to see that Apple is maintaining focus on the number and variety of apps in the App Store, instead of resorting to the narcissistic, touchy-feely, celebrity-filled tripe that T-Mobile has been

Here Are More Apps for That: Three New iPhone Commercials From Apple (TheAppleBlog)

It’s fall premiere season, and that means new shows. But it also means sparkly new ads to fill all those commercial breaks. New Apple ads for the iPhone provided pleasant relief for me yesterday from the tedium of the two-hour Heroes premiere. On a side note, the Castle premiere was pretty good. But back to those commercials. All three highlight popular and unique iPhone apps, some of which have already been featured in previous commercials. Let’s take a look at the apps featured in each commercial. The first ad is called Dine and features a smattering of apps covering a range of different topics, including travel, dining, working and shopping. Here’s a breakdown of the apps featured. TripCase (Free) — Flight tracking, info and travel itinerary management app. Quite a few not so great reviews on this one, but it is free.
Pizza Hut’s iPhone App Has Generated $1 Million in Sales (Mashable)

by More and more companies are creating iPhone applications as a way to reinforce branding and to gain new customers. Some companies are even seeing increased sales thanks to iPhone apps. One of those is the Pizza Hut app [iTunes link] for the iPhone and iPod touch, which has now generated more than $1 million in sales according to MobileMarketer. The US-only iPhone app was first introduced three months ago. Although Pizza Hut had a WAP enabled mobile site before launching the iPhone app, the iPhone app has far exceeded expectations. Bernard Acoca, senior director of digital marketing for Pizza Hut told MobileMarketer: “We always saw a steady level of growth with our mobile business via our WAP site, but to be candid it wasn’t the explosive level of growth we’ve seen with the iPhone app. IPhone applications capture consumers’ imagination in a way that WAP sites simply can’t do, so

With more and more companies launching iPhone apps in parallel to their printed or TV campaigns it looks like the App Store definitely entered marketers’ tool kits. Pizza Hut, trusting the App Store promotion power, made its own iPhone app that lets you order Pizza directly from your iPhone with a 20% rebate and well, it paid off. In only three months since its launch, Pizza Hut app already generated $1 million in sales, exceeding all their expectations. Bernard Acoca, senior director of digital marketing for Pizza Hut told MobileMarketer: We always saw a steady level of growth with our mobile business via our WAP site, but to be candid it wasn’t the explosive level of growth we’ve seen with the iPhone app. IPhone applications capture consumers’ imagination in a way that WAP sites simply can’t do, so the decision to expand to the iPhone was as good one for us.
Remember Pizza Hut’s cool iPhone app? It proved as a smashing success, generating $1 million in sales! To be fair, we’re not sure whether the company would generate these figures even without the dedicated application, but it certainly helped make the famous pizza maker more cooler in eyes of the iGeeks. What’s more impressive is that the iPhone app has been introduced only three months ago and that’s in the U.S. only. We’re certain the numbers will keep rising as soon as we get French, German, Italian, Spanish and other versions that work in more countries. According to Pizza Hut’s Bernard Acoca, they’ve seen a steady level of growth with their mobile website, but the introduction of the iPhone app made the mobile orders growth explosive. “iPhone applications capture consumers’ imagination in a way that WAP sites simply can’t do, so the decision to expand to the iPhone was as good

Commenting on tha announcement, Pizza Hut’s Bernard Acoca said: “It’s an honor to be recognized as a mobile marketing leader by the MMA with wins in two categories. The Pizza Hut iPhone App continues to be an applauded breakthrough digital innovation that connects with consumers and industry organizations.” Now I’m hoping other restaurants will follow Pizza Hut’s example and make the food ordering as simple and convenient as it should be, and ultimately make more money along the way.
By Rene Ritchie, Monday, Dec 14, 2009 | Every week a few of us from team TiPb, bloggers and forum crew alike, will bring you our current favorite, funnest, most useful App Store apps, WebApps, jailbreak apps, even the occasional accessory, web site, or desktop app if the mood strikes us. As long as they’re iPhone (or iPod touch) related, they’re fair game. So who’s on deck this week and what are our picks? Find out after the break! Dragon Dictation is one slick app. You can dictate then email, text or copy your text to the clipboard. I found the app to be accurate as long as there is no background noise. Oh, did I mention it’s free? [Free - iTunes link] Scenario: you are at a bar, loud music, a couple of beers, and you are hungry. How can the iphone help? Pizza Hut app!

by Pizza Hut is set to introduce iPad and Android apps that expand on the chain’s successful iPhone app to let you order pizza from anywhere. New features of the apps, which launched Thursday, include access to the full Pizza Hut menu and limited time offers, guest checkout that lets customers order without checking in and a “most popular” items section. In 2009, Pizza Hut released its iPhone app, and the company claims to have been the first player in the pizza segment to do so. Within three months, the app had generated more than $1 million in sales. Since then, rivals Domino’s and Papa John’s have both released iPhone apps. But, once again, Pizza Hut claims to be ahead of the curve. The company says it’s the first major fast food delivery chain to release an iPad app. Tressie Lieberman, senior manager of digital marketing for Pizza Hut, envisions consumers
