QuickVoice Pro Recorder - Record And Send Voice Messages, Includes Bonus Software (Apple iPhone Apps)

There are currently tons of voice recording applications available at the App Store, so it can be extremely difficult to find the one that best suits your specific needs. Since we can’t make the decision for you, the best we can do is offer up some intriguing options and today we came across one very intriguing option. QuickVoice Pro Recorder contains the same laundry list of features of its free little brother QuickVoice Recorder, including the ability to record, stop, and save at the touch of a single button, adjust recording qualities, flip-mode for the addition of a microphone for iPod touch users, and even the ability to email your recordings, but the big difference between the two applications is the amount of data you can send. QuickVoice Recorder offers the ability to send up to 1MB of voice recordings via email. QuickVoice Pro Recorder on the other hand, allows you

QuickVoice PRO Recorder Has a Bonus (App Craver)

05.07.09 App Score: 8/10 nFinity is using QuickVoice, a voice recorder for Macs and PCs, as a lure to nab buyers for its new iPhone version called QuickVoice PRO Recorder. QuickVoice is usually $15.00 but it’s free with when you buy the $0.99 app. What you want is a voice recorder that delivers decent audio and does everything a virtual voice recorder can do, that much is a given. Add the ability to transfer files via iTunes, Wi-Fi or email, and you’ll move up a notch on the ladder. Now, throw in a free desktop app, and you might be on to something. That’s what QuickVoice PRO Recorder aims to do, although not as well as some apps. Shuttling your voice recordings between handheld and desktop and voice mailing them aren’t that much of a big deal. Several apps feature similar capabilities such as Griffin Tech’s iTalk

App Review: Quick Voice Pro — Voice to Text Email for iPhone (TheAppleBlog)

[appreview] title=Quick Voice Pro image=http://gigapple.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/appicon_quick_voice_pro2.png price=$0.99 url=http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=285877935&mt=8 rating=bronze [/appreview] By converting your voice messages into text e-mails, Quick Voice Pro could be a time-saving boon for busy iPhone owners. Empowered by our emails, tweets, IM conversations, and blogs, we’ve become modern-day information conduits. We collect knowledge, then discharge it into the ether, spurting out a constant fountain of fact, fiction and entertainment. Quick Voice Pro is a new tool that could make sharing your thoughts even easier. The app converts audio recordings into text-based e-mails, using an online voice-recognition system. If there’s a thought on the tip of your tongue, Quick Voice Pro immediately accommodates: The app loads up in a snap and is ready to record from the off. You’re able to open the software, blurt out whatever is on your mind, and get it converted, all in a short amount of time. The layout of the app is incredibly

By Rene Ritchie, Sunday, Sep 6, 2009 | Every week a few of us from team TiPb, bloggers and forum crew alike, will bring you our current favorite, funnest, most useful App Store apps, WebApps, jailbreak apps, even the occasional accessory, web site, or desktop app if the mood strikes us. As long as they’re iPhone (or iPod touch) related, they’re fair game. So who’s on deck this week and what are our picks? Find out after the break! The game is a FPS in the Middle-East theater. You play a marine who is sent on numerous missions to take-out the bad guys. The frame rate is smooth and there are a few different usable control options. This game has good AI with enemies hiding and using strategy to get you. There is a promised multiplayer mode coming soon, we can only hope that it is Internet-based play. If you are

Update to ‘Recorder’ Adds Ability to Record Audio In-Call! (148 Apps)

By Arron Hirst on November 5th, 2009 Retronyms releases an update to Recorder for iPhone that adds ability to actually record audio from within phone calls! There have been many recorders on the App Store since it’s debut. From nFinity’s Quick Voice to BIAS’ Pro Recorder and Polar Bear Farm’s sleek looking Record. But although they all do the job in recording background noise, spoken memos and notes, not one has introduced the one feature you’d expect, phone call recording. Today, in what could be seen as a controversial move by some, the guys at Retronyms (also the people behind the iPhone music mixing studio Dopplerpad) have done just that. They have successfully integrated the ability to record audio from a phone call, straight from within their app ‘Recorder’. The new feature comes in the form of a separate in-app purchase, and each full hour of recording will cost you $1.99.

Create Textual Email by Voice on iPhone for $0.99 (jkOnTheRun)

Just last week James was considering all of the ways to get text input on a tablet. But many of those approaches can or should apply to our handsets as well. So when I saw Michael Connick’s tweet and blog post on QuickVoice Pro, I had to take a look at the iPhone app. With it, you record a voice message to your iPhone and the application will create a textual e-mail from your speech. After watching the video demo, I dropped $0.99 for the app (iTunes link) — I risked the buck, so you don’t have to ;) — and gave it a try. The QuickVoice Pro interface is simple with only two buttons: Record and Play. You don’t have to send your messages to anyone, so this could double up as a personal memo recorder as well. Once you’ve completed recording your speech, you can email the actual audio file

[The atlas has nothing to do with the case -- it just made a nice, almost lunar background] The folks at Griffin weren’t kidding about this case: I’ve looked at it from every angle and I haven’t seen a single thread anywhere. I don’t know how they did it. All I see is an ultra thin, matted plastic plate with an astronaut holding a boombox, presumably made by some design company somewhere. It would look great on a t-shirt [Click on any of the pictures to see a larger view] It’s funky, it’s delicious Thinking about the Funkalicious iPhone case as a designer Tee is actually a perfect fit: it ‘s something that ‘s supposed to look and feel good, and provide minimal protection should you decide to lie down on something sharp (but not too sharp). Threadless probably put it best when they described the case as a “snap-on shell

In Moon Drop you have one mission: Colonize the Moon! To accomplish this mission you are in charge of landing sets of “pods” safely on the moon. The controls are simple: you touch the screen to slow down or change the direction of the the landing pods. So by touching under the pods this will thrust them straight up and touching the sides will effect their flying direction. The pods have green indicator lights that change to red to warn you of a pending disaster. During gameplay there are two indicators located on the top of your display. The “POP” is your current score. The scoring system is broken down into three categories: pods landed, target bonus, and group bonus. Also represented are three astronauts which are the number of lives you have during gameplay. The game starts out nice and easy, but, as you progress, the difficulty level increases. As the wave numbers increase, the game

You could call it a temporary price drop instead of a procrastination sale (which ends whenever they remember to end it), but that would be far too boring — and the developers over at One Man Left are really anything but boring. Tilt to Live has become one of my favourite iPhone games (definitely beating out Minigore for play time), and you can currently pick it up for 50% off of its usual $1.99 asking price. The game is also scheduled to see some new game modes this April (news via TouchArcade), with the promise of even more modes and weapons in future updates. So go lift the cushions in your couches and check all of the pockets in your winter clothes before you put them away and use that extra moolah to buy yourself a super cheap copy of Tilt to Live [iTunes link].

Need to Know If / How You Can Jailbreak Your iPhone? There’s a Site for That (iSource)

The idea of jailbreaking your iPhone can be intimidating if you’ve not done so before or are very new to it. As the long-running cat and mouse game between Apple and those who create jailbreak tools has heated up over recent months, it has become more complicated to figure out if you can jailbreak your iPhone. The jailbreak process required can vary by which iPhone or iPod Touch model you have, as well as by which OS / firmware version your device is running. If you are running a newer model device and / or the very latest 3.1.3 firmware, you may find you can only do a ‘tethered’ jailbreak (one that requires you to re-jailbreak the iPhone each time you have to reboot it). Jailbreakmatrix.com is a site that aims to take a lot of the pain and confusion out of figuring out if – and how – you can

These are photos taken hand held with an iPhone held over the eyepiece of my telescope last night. I don’t get a lot of emails talking about iPhone camera shots of stellar objects and telescope setups. So this one from Terry this morning grabbed my attention. I was lost right after the words ‘pretty good one’ in the description of the scope above, so I’m no judge at all on whether these are real / fake / good / bad / mediocre shots. Giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming they’re real, very nice idea and good looking images – especially the one of the moon.
Do You Trust Sites That Demand Payment for App Reviews? (iSource)

Wired recently published a good article covering iPhone app review sites that request, and in some cases demand, money to review an app, or to deliver an ‘expedited’ review. Several websites dedicated to iPhone app reviews are requesting payments from developers in exchange for writeups of their apps, Wired.com has learned. Those payments are not always clearly disclosed to readers, and the practice hasn ‘t received much discussion outside of gaming blogs. This is a subject that I feel very strongly about. Accepting or demanding money for reviews is something we have never done and something we are dead set against. So I’d like to talk about this site’s stance on this, my thoughts on the arguments that the pay to play sites use to defend their policies, and what your thoughts are on all of this. Here’s a further slice from the Wired piece: Soliciting money in exchange for a

Circuitous is a new custom app switching app for the iPhone that I posted about last week, shortly after it first came out on Cydia. Just days after launching, the app has had a major update, and added quite a lot of nice new features. Here are some of those new features: A few other changes that I particularly like are: One thing I don’t like so much now is that any touch of the Power or Home buttons when the dock is active seem to force it to close. So right now I cannot get a screen shot of the new dock position – because as soon as I press either of the required buttons the dock disappears. Overall though, this is quite a good app-switching tool, and this very quick update to it has certainly added some very useful new capabilities.

The creators of KaleidoVid for iPhone set out to ‘do something delightful‘ as a little break from the grind of sometimes intense iPhone development work. I’ve been using the app for a little while and here’s my very first impression: they succeeded, 110%. The app is simple and fun to use, and produces lovely images with absolutely minimal effort. I’m pretty sure my daughter – and kids in general – should find the app just as delightful as I have. It’s also a damn fine way to create some great new wallpapers for yourself. Here’s a couple that I made in just a very few minutes of pointing KaleidoVid at a tile floor in our house and a bit of my daughter’s artwork: Here’s just a little slice from the app’s description page: Point the camera at everyday objects to create beautiful kaleidoscopic images.
InfiniBoard updated: vertical paging, LockInfo support (jailbreak only) (iSource)

chpwn’s Infiniboard Springboard tweak was updated recently, adding an interesting, but almost backwards feature: vertical paging. This means that you can now establish the same 16-icon pages that you could before, but you can now stack them on top of each other and scroll vertically, instead of just horizontally. While I do think that this is an interesting new feature, there really isn’t much of a difference between swiping vertically or horizontally, and at least default horizontal pages will show up on other mods like OverBoard. This new update also added support for LockInfo 2. I don’t use LockInfo myself, but I do remember a feature that allowed it to display on the Springboard and not just on the lock screen, so this is likely the particular feature support that was added in this new version. The InfiniBoard update is free on Cydia if you already own it, or you can

I’ll have a review coming soon enough, but here is what Chop Chop Runner is all about (in a ninja nutshell): tapping to jump, tapping to attack, and tapping to retry after you fail to execute one of the first two taps properly. If that sounds a bit like Canabalt, that’s because it is — but with ninjas and samurai instead of armageddon and crashing space pods. The game features a very cutesy artwork style and does require more input than Canabalt does, and it features OpenFeint support for showing your friends how many meters you ran before you fell off of the earth or were sliced in half. You can pick up Chop Chop Runner on the App Store for $0.99.

Here’s a nice new feature that’s been a long time coming to the iPhone App Store – the ability to purchase an app as a gift for someone. I can’t find a way to do this on the iPhone itself as yet (hopefully that is coming) but it is available now in the App Store on the desktop. To get to it you just click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the ‘Buy App’ button. Gift recipients have to have a US iTunes account, so I was unable to ‘gift’ Thomas a copy of the ’827 Reasons Texas is Better Than Canada’ app when testing the feature. I’m glad to see this new feature – I think it’s especially handy for those of us with several iPhones / Touches in the family. How will you use this feature, if at all?

Ilium Software have been one of my favorite mobile software publishers for many years. Marc Tassin is Ilium’s Product Manager and a great guy who has contributed to our Desert Island Apps series and is always excellent to talk to about mobile tech subjects – and possibly even on others, but I never venture awy from geeky topics. This week the guys at JAMM had a chance to interview Marc and covered a range of interesting topics with him. There were even a few little iPhone and iPad related tidbits. Here’s a little slice on iPhone / iPad subjects: Naturally the iPad is a big deal, and we ‘re currently developing a version of eWallet optimized for that device. There is eWallet for Macintosh (we hope to release an update to the Preview version of it sometime in the next month). We also have ListPro for iPhone under development. I also

QuickDo (formerly known as mQuickDo) had been a staple on my jailbroken iPhone 3GS for quite a while – serving as a great way to launch a set of favoite apps straight from the iPhone lock screen and a decent app switcher while using the iPhone as well. It’s no longer a staple, and it’s no longer even enabled. Unfortunately – as I’ve posted about before – the app is very temperamental and tends to just go crazy every so often. By that I mean that it forgets the location I’ve assigned it to (places itself at top rather than bottom of the iPhone screen) and lately it also just refused to use gestures as I asked it to. So no matter how many times I asked it to use a long swipe right or left for app switching, it just wouldn’t do it. It also seems to interfere / conflict

During the weekend I took a trip to the Bronx Zoo. It was my first time there in about five years and this time my trip would be different. This time I was packing an iPhone 3GS instead of the Treo 750 I had with me last time. To prepare for my journey I loaded my iPhone with apps that I would utilize throughout the day. My one concern was battery power. I knew I would be using my phone often and I needed to maximize my battery’s stamina. A few months ago I received the Mophie Juice Pack Air as a gift. I don’t really use it that often, but since I didn’t have anything else it was the perfect match for the day. The night before the trip I made sure to charge the Mophie case and iPhone, so I was good to go by the next morning. While driving

Patrick I have quite a few, but my top two – by miles over all the rest are based on things we know can be done well based on current jailbreak solutions that run very well (especially on a 3GS): Alicia Let me mention 2 that others probably won’t. Especially as I’m one of the few that don’t jailbreak Frank I would say I agree strongly with Patrick. I wish for a multitasking solution. There has to be a better solution for switching in and out of apps. That is what’s on offer with HomePipe. I’ve been trying the app out for several days now, and though it has some notable flaws and places where it needs some polishing, I am very impressed overall. StyleTap is a jailbreak app that brings the ability to run Palm OS apps on the iPhone. Just typing that last sentence makes me want to scream WHAT? Palm OS was an outdated dinsosaur of an OS for years and now it’s dead, not even used by Palm anymore. So now we need an emulator to bring its ancient apps to the iPhone? I mean seriously – what? And who??? Who wants this? To my mind most Palm apps looked dated even compared to Windows Mobile apps. And they’re built for screens a fraction of the size of the iPhone. Anyway, if you’d like to give your iPhone a big dose of ugly, you

As much as the Case-Mate marketing department would have you believe that the go Bare really is something you’ve never seen or heard of before, it does look a lot like those other invisible films that you’re not supposed to be able to see once applied (InvisibleShield, Bodyguardz, etc.). What is of note here, however, is the lack of a liquid application solution for this protective film. The go Bare is applied just like a transparent sticker, and it apparently only takes about five minutes to apply the front and back, since you don’t have to wait for anything to dry. There’s still an initial 24-hour period, during which you have to be careful about unseating the film, but after that you should be golden — well, err, invisible. The Case-Mate go Bare (including front + back films) is available for $24.99, making it a bit more expensive than most other

If you’re jailbroken and have attempted to hide some of your fugitive apps, you may have stumbled upon some strange problems with launching a couple of them — YouTube and the App Store, in particular. Hiding these two apps with tweaks and mods like Categories or SBSettings can effectively break the ability to link to them, and so you may not be able to launch App Store or YouTube links from the web until you put them back on the home screen. So just be careful when you tidy up your device using the various jailbreak tweaks out there: some things are meant to be left on the Springboard.

The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too. Geohot – the boy wonder iPhone hacker behind blackra1n and the first ever iPhone unlock way back in the day – has released a video demo of a new untethered jailbreak that will work for all the latest models of iPhone and iPod Touch that have up to now required a ‘tethered’ jailbreak (one which requires you to re-do the jailbreak every time you have to reboot your device). Oh, and check out that last bit: ‘will probably work on the iPad too‘ – now that would be sweet. There is already some speculation that this new jailbreak might be based on the newest vulnerability discovered in Mobile Safari, the one announced at the recent Pwn2Own hacking

Articles is the offspring of developer Sophiestication Software. Like many of the apps before it, Articles serves as a portal to the online encyclopedia, Wikipedia. However, unlike many of its kin, Articles is arguably the first to present the digital Library of Alexandria in a size and format appropriate to the iPhone ‘s screen. EtymologyThe simple title ‘Articles ‘ belies much of the app ‘s true genius. Scholars have argued that it is merely a humble approach to app naming, derived from the wealth of articles available on Wikipedia. However, there are those who have argued that the app is actually pronounced ‘ar-ti-clees ‘, insinuating that the iPhone app is similar to the Greek demi-god, Heracles. These users argue that Articles has ‘finally made Wikipedia legible on the iPhone ‘ in the same manner that Hercules ‘made the world safe for mankind ‘ (missing source).
The name Chop Chop Runner would have you believe that you ‘ll execute two chops to every step you run ” but the run-and-jump centric gameplay really only throws the occasional flying kick in. Then again, Run Run Chopper would probably break the theme that developer Gamerizon established with their previous title. Princess!!!! Just like in Super Mario, there ‘s a princess in danger and it ‘s your job to save her by running from left to right in hopes of righting the wrong. However, unlike the famous Nintendo character, you ‘ll never save the princess, because it ‘s really only a matter of time until you fall off the level or bump smack into a samurai ‘s katana and die.
Today we ‘re continuing our series called Desert Island Apps. It ‘s based on a very long-running and brilliant BBC Radio show called ‘Desert Island Discs ‘. The premise of Desert Island Discs is simple and wonderful “ a guest is invited to choose the eight musical pieces (originally records) they would take with them if they were stranded on a desert island. In our case of course we ‘re not interested in our guests ‘ choice of music. What we want to know is which six iPhone apps they would take with them if stranded on an island. In the past we’ve left the field wide open on this, and even let guests assume they’ve got WiFi and full connectivity on their island. This time round the stakes are raised – as our guest has decided he wants to inaugurate the ‘Hardcore‘ version of Desert Island Apps, as you’ll

Featured iPhone theme: Labeled by Xemnes (jailbreak only) (iSource)

Labeled was only released around 19 hours ago, so it still doesn’t have icons for a lot of my apps, but I’m hoping that changes soon enough. If you’re looking for a change from the beautiful Matte Nano or Illumine icon sets, Labeled sports a very different look, with an especially great badge icon in keeping with the theme. Be warned, though: these icons are so small that you wont’ really be able to differentiate them while using OverBoard.

4 tips (and a hack) to make your iPad work-worthy (TheAppleBlog)

Reading Darrell’s recent post 7 iPad Habits of Highly Effective Remote Workers prompted me to look more closely at how I can really do work on my iPad. I have to admit, I’m still not convinced that the iPad will be my laptop replacement. However, with the help of the Apple wireless keyboard and some other peripherals and apps, it can come close. Here are some tips to make your iPad work-worthy. 1. Make audio calls via VoiP. Audio calls via Skype on the iPad work like a dream. Just plug in the earbuds that you usually use for your iPhone, fire up the Skype app and make your audio calls. There are other VoiP apps that will work on the iPad without charging fees, such as Viber, but they require that the other person also has the same software on her device. You can even use Google Voice on the iPad, albeit
