Classics features over a dozen literary classics (the devs sometimes add a few more via an app update), and every title features chapters and cover art. I personally still prefer Stanza because of the built-in bookstore and the ability to add most any other book you own, but Classics’ main strength right now is the great page-turning animations.  It’s silly, but I sometimes think I’ll get a paper cut from the bloody thing. This really frustrates me. I use USB sync, putting my documents in the central DCIM location, as my standard way to move files to the app, and I always have. This is stuff like PDF files or Microsoft Office documents for work, finances, study, etc. Referencing a central location (such as the DCIM folder) for all files is a huge deal. It means I can use two different apps to read the same file (such as Good Reader, PDF Expert, Quickoffice, etc). One of my primary goals with the iPad was reducing the amount of paper clutter in my house. As a voracious reader, my home library was quickly approaching the need for a Dewey decimal system. While Andy Ihnatko is known for living a year of digital media last year, for a while now I’ve been trying to reach that goal myself. The good news is, the iPad makes it very easy to purchase and consume digital media. I’ve had no eye strain issues with the iPad, having read over 10 books on it since its launch. There’s something about the iBooks that just *feels* right, and the quality of the page turning animations always amazes me. I can’t say anything about the PDF and multimedia changes in this update because the books I read are in simple .epub format, but I do believe the app is just a little bit faster and more stable now. There used to be a very strange bug that would literally teleport me through my literature when I accidentally swiped the bottom of the screen (with the controls hidden — I’m not that stupid), but I haven’t encountered any of this madness in v1.1.1.
