A Collection of Sales to Start Your Weekend Right
Calendar16 Fri, 10 Feb 2012 14:00:40 UTC +00:00
The weekend is finally almost here, and before you settle in to listen to our podcast later today (you DO all listen to our podcast, right?) I thought it might be nice to roundup some of the significant sales that are currently going on so you can spend your couple of days of leisure time buried in some iOS games. Unless you work on the weekends, in which case it's even more important to load up on some games to survive your laborious obligations. Crescent Moon Godzilab Telltale Games Konami Sega Miscellaneous These are the ones that stuck out to me, but of course there's always more sales and freebies to check out at AppShopper.com or on the free AppShopper app. For instance, EA is having one of their frequent sales on a bunch of games in their library. As always, sales can end just as quickly as they begin, so Read More
If your iPhone or iPad's memory still isn't full after you gorged on the various Cyber Monday and Thanksgiving deals, know this: most of the celebratory sales are still active on the App Store. In fact, we've discovered a couple more that we couldn't fit in before the holiday break. That's what this post is all about -- the leftovers. For example, Telltale Games has lowered its games' prices 55-80 percent from the usual. The savings began on November 23, but will continue until tomorrow, November 30. Arghata Studio also bashed the prices of its 1112 series in honor of our Turkey Day, and those sales are still continuing, too, well into this week. Here's a short list of some notables: Odds And Ends Agharta Studios Telltale Games Cool deals, right? As a side-note, if you feel like you've been left out of the initial extravaganza, App Shopper [Free] remains an Read More

Posted 11/25/2011 at 4:30pm | by J Keirn-Swanson As always, the holidays brings out the big guns when it comes to app price cutting. This time around is no exception, with some familiar developers going crazy with the discount action. Why wait for Cyber Monday when you can get your game on right this very minute? This one is huge. A thank you to the fans who've stocked their iPads and iPhones and iPods with their games through the years, Electronic Arts has slashed prices across the board. Like what, you ask? How about Battleship for the iPad down four dollars to just $0.99. Or pick one of the Monopoly for the iPad versions, either regular down from $9.99 to $2.99 or Monopoly Here & Now with the same price drop. Scrabble for the iPad takes a similar nose dive on the price. Get it and The Game of Life ($2.99) Read More

Posted 06/03/2011 at 6:50am | by Andrew Groen If you've been following the exploits of Marty Mcfly in Telltale Games' adventure game adaptation of the classic 1980s sci-fi series then you'll be pleased to know that the latest episode in the series is now available on the App Store. On the other hand, if you haven't been following the series then now is the perfect time to start. The first episode in the series is now completely free until July 31, so you'd do well to give a spin now if you're at all interested. It doesn't get much better than free. In fact it doesn't get better at all, frankly. This Telltale adventure game isn't a tired rehashing of the film as some had predicted. It's a side-story meant to accompany the film and add to the series' canon. Marty and Doc still have to go back in time/into the Read More

Back To The Future Ep 1 Now Free
Calendar16 Thu, 02 Jun 2011 20:57:28 UTC +00:00
This is strange! Possibly due to a disruption of the time-space continuum, Back To The Future was still showing up as $6.99 on the App Store. But if you followed this link, you'd find it for free. We're not sure what's going on, but you'd better download this episode for free while you still can. Telltale's been teasing App Store gamers for a while now, releasing just a single episode each from their Monkey Island, Sam and Max, and Wallace and Gromit series. Now, they're committed to bringing out the full season of Back To The Future adventure games, and you can get the first episode for free. Back To The Future for iOS is available only on the iPad, and based on our experience with it, we'd recommend playing it on a fast-powered iPad 2. While the character design, puzzles, and cinematic storylines are great, the game tends to chug Read More
'Back To The Future' Episode 1 Goes Free, Episode 4 Hits
Calendar16 Thu, 02 Jun 2011 22:01:19 UTC +00:00
The last time I discussed the Back to the Future series, I noted that I’ve hit a creative wall of sorts in terms of coverage. The initial two episodes hit all the same notes that the third episode does, so it’s hard to find something meaningful and fun to share. Of course, I’m also couching this in the opinion that every episode is well produced and their respective new, or even reproduced, mechanics are sharp and solid. If you missed out on the first episode [Free] though, now is the time to grab it. It’s free on the App Store until June 31, 2011. You have the entire month to push “download” and grab what is, easily, one of the coolest modern adventure games out there. If the fact that it’s free isn’t enough to convince you to give it a download, go ahead and check out our review for it. Read More

iPad Only App $6.99 Our Review By Timothy Smith on March 22nd, 2011 Rating: :: THIS IS HEAVY Telltale takes a chance with a well loved classic in their new episodic Back to the Future game series. Developer: Price: $6.99 Version: 1.0 App Reviewed on: iPad Graphics / Sound Rating: User Interface Rating: Gameplay Rating: Re-use / Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: The Back to the Future Trilogy is arguably a timeless classic, and it is one of the few pieces of cinema that I can watch over and over again without getting bored. There is something special about its lighthearted approach to time travel that allows viewers to enjoy the characters and the story without having to suspend too much disbelief on the technical aspects of the sci-fi time travel genre. The only bad thing about the trilogy is that it ended, but Telltale is here to pick up the Read More
Review: Telltale Games Back to the Future Ep 1 HD
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Feb 2011 17:51:00 UTC +00:00
Company: Electronic Arts Price: $7 Compatible: iPad Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Tuesday, February 22, 2011 Category: Games - iPad, iPhone + iPod If ever there was a poster child for ambitious but buggy iPad gaming, Telltale Games would unfortunately top the list: the developer behind last year's seriously glitchy Wallace and Gromit The Last Resort has just released Back to the Future Ep 1 HD ($7), a similarly amazing use of the iPad's 3-D graphics hardware that feels as if it wasn't debugged before release. Fans of the Back to the Future movies and light walk-and-tap adventure games will be impressed by this title's ambitious storyline, voice acting, and fully realized 3-D world, but they'll also be shocked by the pervasive stuttering and glitches Apple overlooked when choosing its latest "iPad Game of the Week." Back to the Future includes a completely new storyline that seems to pick up where the first Read More

Yesterday, Telltale Games held an event in San Francisco where they announced a slew of new titles for this coming year. The main focus of this event was to offer hands-on time with the console versions of their upcoming Jurassic Park game (which looks fabulous, by the way), so unfortunately there wasn’t anything actually running on iOS devices that isn’t available already in the App Store. Still, there were some pretty exciting games announced, and as we march closer to events like Comic-Con and E3 we’ll start to see more tangible bit from these games. Monkey Island Tales 2-5 - Back in December, Telltale launched Monkey Island Tales 1 HD [$6.99], the first episode in their Tales of Monkey Island series reboot. Like its PC, Mac, and console counterparts, the iPad version of Tales was well received by customers and critics alike. We awarded the game 4.5 stars in our review, Read More
By Rob LeFebvre on February 18th, 2011 A bevvy of beautiful game releases, coming soon (or here now), from Telltale Games. That headline could have gotten quite a bit longer. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! The fine, upstanding folks at TellTale Games, purveyors of such fine games as Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Wallace and Gromit, and Puzzle Agent, have decided that they just don’t have enough to keep them busy. They announced a metric ton-load of games coming our way soon, on iOS and other gaming consoles you may or may not own. First up, Back to the Future – it’s out now for the iPad, it’s $7, and it’s a BRAND NEW storyline, episodic style. TellTale worked with the actual writer of the movies to come up with this all new adventure, then created a video game around it. The Mac/PC version is up to Episode 2, and Read More

I’m pretty sure that iPad users who grew up with the Back to the Future trilogy will be pleased with TellTale’s Back to the Future Ep 1 HD which has just been released as an iPad game. Yes Marty McFly fans, our favorite 80’s icon and some of the characters in the classic film just landed on the App Store and you can have the pleasure of playing Marty as he help Doc get out of trouble in this nicely done iPad game. But before you jump for joy expecting that you can relive the story from the trilogy, take note that the storyline of this game takes place six months after Back to the Future III. Yes friends, this is a sort of continuation of the story which in my opinion is a better decision since it sorts of resurrect the Back to the Future franchise film. We’ve also heard Read More

Seems like it's going too be a great game. I've been holding off on getting the PC version so I could give it a try on the iPad because that's where I'd rather play it. Everything is pretty awesome. The interface works reasonably well with a touch screen, music is good. Textures leave something to be desired, but its understandable and hasn't detracted from the game yet. There's one major issue I have with it and thats the frame rate. It's atrocious in places. One in particular being the opening game menu. The very first experience you get with the game is one of sub-par performance. That left a bad taste in my mouth. At this point I think I'm going to sit on the game for a bit and hope telltale can get a patch released that significantly increases performance. Otherwise I'm going to skip the rest of the episodes on iPad.
