Beejive 4.3 ($9.99) is, unfortunately, one of the more confusing and buggy versions of this otherwise-excellent instant messaging app. I’m not terribly sure which bugs from the last versions were fixed, but I can vouch for the existence of a few new ones. Turning a chat from landscape to portrait mode, for example, will sometimes kill the conversation (requiring you to delete it) or simply turn the wallpaper to black. It took me quite a while to find the new “Buddy Pounce” option within the maze of pop-up and slide-out menus within Beejive, but I finally found it by tap on my buddy’s avatar to enter Contact Details and noticed a new alarm icon within the Username field. Tapping on the icon will activate a “buddy pounce” push notification that will, in theory, alert you to the next time your buddy comes online. These are one-shot alarms for now, but in Read More
Top 5 IM instant messenger apps for iPhone
Calendar16 Mon, 31 Jan 2011 16:45:19 UTC +00:00
Interested in knowing which are the best, most must-have instant messenger (IM) apps for your iPhone? Eager to get you chat on via AIM/MobileMe, MSN/Windows Live, Yahoo!, GoogleTalk, Facebook, MySpace, and/or Jabber but need to know which client supports what and how well? Well read on for TiPb’s top 5 most recommended IM/instant messenger clients for iPhone! Beejive is probably one of the most popular IM clients for iOS, and for good reason. It supports almost any messenger client you can think of and is completely customizable. Beejive has been making IM clients for a very long time, and it shows. I remember purchasing Beejive for my Blackberry several years ago. Even then, it was an extremely reliable choice. It comes packed with features such as support for multiple accounts, push notifications, picture sharing, custom backgrounds and chat bubbles, and much more. I have always found it to be extremely efficient Read More
Beejive 3.2 for iPhone: location support, minor UI changes
Calendar16 Mon, 24 Jan 2011 20:10:37 UTC +00:00
Beejive ($9.99), the big daddy of messaging apps on iOS, has been updated to version 3.2. The changes this time around aren’t terribly exciting, but here’s what I’ve noticed so far: Sorry folks, I warned you that this wasn’t terribly exciting (but at least I can pretend to speak Simplified Chinese within the app now). There’s a new iPhone IM client on the block. Verbs, by #include tech software, is a simple and beautiful IM app that looks like it was designed by Apple itself. There are a ton of IM apps on the App Store (IM+, BeejiveIM, fring, AIM and Yahoo! Messenger to name a few).  I’ve used many, and honestly, most of them look pretty awful. I was so excited when I saw the Verbs design mockups several months ago, and the app recently received an update in the App Store that makes it definitely worth reviewing. While I’m not someone who constantly relies on instant messaging to communicate, I do see the benefit of having a solid IM app on the iPhone for occasionally hopping on Google Talk. The good thing is that Verbs has more to offer than just good looks… While the interface design of Verbs is stunning, it also packs some interesting surprises under the hood. Verbs Read More
Review: Verbs instant messenger for iPhone
Calendar16 Thu, 30 Dec 2010 00:12:31 UTC +00:00
Verbs ($2.99) isn’t quite ready to compete with full featured IM applications like Beejive (currently $4.99), but its minimal interface and speed make it interesting enough to keep around, if only to see how it grows. There are currently only two reasons to want Verbs right now: its clean interface and its Google Talk support. If you’re a user of any other instant messaging service, you’ll have to wait for an update (though I have been told AIM and MobileMe support are coming soon). That brings us to the interface, which is what attracted me to Verbs in the first place. Verbs feels like it was designed more with an eraser than a paintbrush, given the minimal number of objects on-screen at a given time. There’s a screen for accounts (just Google Talk and Cloud App for now), a contact list that shows online, offline, and starred contacts, as well as Read More
Homescreens – Dezember 2010 (iPhone + iPad)
Calendar16 Sat, 11 Dec 2010 10:35:56 UTC +00:00
Außerdem verstecken sich innerhalb der Ordner folgende Apps*: Amazon.de (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Convertbot (1.59 €; App Store-Link), AnalyticsPro (5.49 €; App Store-Link), Delivery Status touch (3.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), Dropbox (kostenlos; universal; App Store-Link), iCabMobile (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Skype (kostenlos; App Store-Link), WeatherPro (2.99 €; App Store-Link), Pastebot (2.99 €; App Store-Link), LogMeIn (23.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), OffMaps (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Kik (kostenlos; App Store-Link), PayPal (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Linkie (0.79 Read More

Beejive Launches Android Instant Messaging Client
Calendar16 Wed, 13 Oct 2010 16:52:32 UTC +00:00
Beejive, a popular instant messaging application on BlackBerry and iPhone, has made the leap to Android today, offering users the ability to tap into a variety of IM networks, including AOL, Windows Live, Google Talk, Yahoo!, ICQ, Facebook, and iChat. Beejive on Android includes most of the features you’d expect, like group handling, always-on connectivity with push notifications of new messages, picture and video transfer, and voice notes. The one potential downside to all of this is that the client costs $9.99. Personally, I have trouble paying for instant messaging clients when individual, official apps are freely available, but those who wold rather keep all of their disparate contacts under one roof may be more willing to pay out. Head over to Beejive for a closer look at the features, or hit up the links below to get downloading. Beejive, my favourite IM client on the iPhone, just hit 3.4. The release notes are nondescript, but something about the experience has definitely changed for the better. Maybe it’s the iOS4 GM version I just installed, or Beejive 3.4 really is just that much faster. Either way, chats load up within about two seconds of launching the app, and messages are sent just a little faster. Still haven’t noticed any of the minor UI enhancements, though. Read More
BeejiveIM Now Available for the iPad
Calendar16 Thu, 20 May 2010 14:49:27 UTC +00:00
As much as I’ve been enjoying my iPad since its release, one thing I’ve been dying to use on it has been a worthwhile chat program. One of my favorites on the iPhone has been Beejive. It’s easy to set up, use, and it has push notifications that allow me to receive IMs even when I don’t have Beejive open. You could imagine my surprise and geeky elation when I heard Beejive has just been released for the iPad. Beejive for the iPad brings everything you know and love about the iPhone version, expect it’s all accessed from your iPad. You can connect to a huge number of popular chat programs like AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, iChat, Myspace, Facebook, ICQ, and Jabber. First Look: Beejive for the iPad
Calendar16 Wed, 19 May 2010 20:30:00 UTC +00:00
BeeJive is a solid IM client for the iPhone and has been a favorite of staff members since its original release. Suffice it to say, there were a few of us who were more than a little happy when the iPad version was released today. If you've used the iPhone sibling, BeeJive won't be that different to you. You can send files and photos from the app itself, though you can only select from a photo album for the latter. You can record audio messages and share chats with other people through e-mail, customize the wallpaper and toggle sounds among default, Yahoo, AIM or MSN. Emoticons still work, though the ability to use the /me emote is absent. You can also join chatrooms, that feature in and of itself setting BeeJive above its competitors. BeeJive still supports push notification and upon first launch will ask you if you want to enable Read More
Beejive For iPad Awaiting Approval
Calendar16 Thu, 13 May 2010 22:26:33 UTC +00:00
Wired was lucky enough to get a first look at Beejive’s upcoming iPad IM app and apparently, it’s the very best of its kind. It’s a premium app that combines gorgeous visuals with an intuitive user interface. BeeJive has nailed it again with its iPad app… Just like its iPhone little brother, Beejive for iPad supports plenty of protocols, from AIM all the way to Facebook chat. The interface, particularly interesting in landscape mode, allows you to have all your online friends, your current chat, as well as concurrent chat sessions all on one screen. New messages will appear in bubbles on the side as to not have you jumping around the entire time. In portrait, your online friends’ list is simply turned into a pop-over, not much change there: Beejive for iPad allows you further to share images, voice-clips and even to mail your current conversation via email. All sharing Read More
IM+ lite now available for iPad and iPhone

IM+ Lite is now available for iPhone and iPad as a free, ad-supported universal application. Our full review of IM+ for iPad is in the works and should be appearing shortly, so I'll just hit some highlights here: With the exception of Skype chat, IM+ Lite supports the same features as the full version of IM+: Twitter, Facebook, Google Talk, Yahoo, MSN/Live Messenger, AIM/iChat, ICQ, MySpace and Jabber. IM+ has a speech recognition option (as US$0.99 in-app purchase) and allows you to browse the Internet with a built-in browser so you needn't exit the app to follow links. IM+ will notify you via push notifications of new email in Hotmail, Yahoo, or GMail accounts, as well as sending push notifications of new IMs on all supported networks. Wi-Fi Edition: Can An iPad Replace Your iPhone?
Calendar16 Thu, 08 Apr 2010 21:52:06 UTC +00:00
Posted 04/08/2010 at 1:52pm | by J.R. Bookwalter A recent survey of new iPad owners sounding off on Twitter revealed that a whopping 26 percent were unhappy about the fact that the device couldn’t replace their iPhone. That got us thinking: What would it be like to spend a day with only the iPad? With that challenge in mind, we (mostly) stuck our trusty iPhone 3GS away for a full day and “made do” with only the Wi-Fi model of iPad. As it turns out, it’s not as difficult as you might expect. We have yet to find any iPhone apps that don’t also run on the iPad -- even seemingly more complex ones such as SlingPlayer Mobile or Skype work just fine -- so most of the iPhone functionality can already be duplicated just by installing the same apps you already use. It’s Not a Phone, Silly The biggest trick Read More

In our case of course we ‘re not interested in our guests ‘ choice of music.  What we want to know is which six iPhone apps they would take with them if stranded on an island. Jay's 10 favorite iPhone apps of 2009

After I put together my list of 10 awesome free Mac apps for 2009, a lot of folks asked me when the iPhone list was coming out. How about ? Get ready, because I'm about to tell you how to spend those iTunes gift cards you got for Christmas. BeejiveIM supports multiple IM services, including AIM/iChat, MSN, Yahoo!, GoogleTalk, Facebook IM, ICQ, Jabber, and MySpace IM.  It also features an easy to use interface, push notifications, the ability to send and receive files, landscape mode, chat history, configurable alerts, group chat, and much more. Here is a little extra pricing information just so you have an idea of how good of a deal you are getting.  BeejiveIM originally hit the App Store Read More
Cerulean Studios can finally let out a sigh of relief, as their multiservice IM client that was formerly only available for Windows has finally made its way into the App Store after spending months in the approval process.  Now the question is, is it any good? Trillian was built to be a fast, easy to use, and reliable chat client for the iPhone and iPod touch.  It supports multiple chat services at launch, including AIM, ICQ, WIndows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and Google Talk, with many more to be added “soon.”  The app also features multiple account support, the ability to stay signed in for up to 24 hours, “intelligent” push notifications, global status control, and much more. Trillian is also able to stay synchronized across multiple clients, which means if you change your avatar, display name, or add a contact, it will immediately be reflected on the Windows Trillian client, Read More

De Astra-server werkt Read More

There's a first time for everything: while the updated premium version of AOL Instant Messenger for the iPhone [iTunes link] was scheduled to arrive later this month, CNET reported that it actually went through the approval process early (no!) and as such it represents the first of the AIM clients to support the new AIM Lifestream multi-service status update capability. If you check out the landing page for the service at lifestream.aim.com, you'll be able to update and monitor your posts and pictures on Delicious, Digg, YouTube, Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter alongside your AIM status (and with your AIM buddies in the mix). The Mac and Windows clients for the service are expected on 9/22; it's not known yet when the Lifestream goodness will make its way to the free & ad-supported AIM client for iPhone. Although you can certainly handle multiple social services from several Mac apps (EventBox, Tweetdeck, MoodBlast), Read More
BeejiveIM iPhone app updated to version 3.0.2
Calendar16 Fri, 21 Aug 2009 08:08:59 UTC +00:00
Popular iPhone instant messaging app BeejiveIM has been updated and it’s now in version 3.0.2. According to Beejive, this update is mainly bug fixes, but we see that the application loads faster and also comes with a better-looking icon. Furthermore, there are some other changes, as well: The update is free for existing BeejiveIM users, whereas those who still haven’t grabbed the app can do that after pouring out 10 bucks ($9.99). It sounds kinda expensive, but we’re talking about arguably the best multi-network IM client for the iPhone. AppStore link is here. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. BeejiveIM iPhone Chat App Updated to version 3.0.2
Calendar16 Tue, 18 Aug 2009 04:04:44 UTC +00:00
BeejiveIM, the popular iPhone instant messaging app with push notifications, has been updated to version 3.0.2. According to Beejive, this update is mainly bug fixes, but they ‘ve also sped up the app ‘s launch speed significantly, and the icon has been refreshed with a flatter look. The full list of updates as described by Beejive: I ‘m still looking for the ‘UI enhancements ‘ but so far I haven ‘t noticed anything different. This is a worthwhile update for users of BeejiveIM, if for nothing else than the improved performance and launch speed. However, the addition of 3 and 7 day session timeouts is great for the occasional IM-er who doesn ‘t want to have to remember to open the app every other day just to keep everything logged in. The update is free for all BeejiveIM users, or you can download the app for $9.99 on the iTunes App Read More

Instant messaging from your iPhone or iPod touch can be a great way to stay in touch with friends and family while on the move.  Many of the App Store’s instant messaging apps allow you to log in to multiple accounts from multiple services, and they are even able to send you push notifications to notify you of a message when the app isn’t open.  Not so surprisingly, all of the instant messaging apps in our Best Instant Messaging App category contain the ability to send push notifications. The nominees for Best Instant Messaging App were: The winner in this category was BeejiveIM. As the weeks go by with iPhone OS 3.0, an unsettling realization has set in. Am I out of touch with the mainstream? I still find it immensely surprising that apps with Push Notifications are almost entirely absent from the most downloaded lists. I posed the following question on twitter. “Question for all: Why do you think few (any?) Push Notification apps have made the top 25 in the App Store?” Here are some of the responses: Simon Ings (@ingzee) I don’t think the average iPhone/touch user really understands the push concept, it doesn’t excite them like it does a geek. Nate Orloff (@nato64) New technology is hard to (implement) flawlessly to the point where the masses want/need it. Once facebook does it well… T.J. 10 Instant Messaging Apps for the iPhone
Calendar16 Wed, 15 Jul 2009 19:00:13 UTC +00:00
When push notification finally made its way to the iPhone, a lot of people were anticipating IMs pushed to their iPhone. At first, I scoffed at this idea. I’d always figured IMs were based around the “instant” part of the phrase, and someone pushing an IM to me might be disappointed if I don’t get back to them right away. Well, guess who’s been a big iPhone IM-er since 3.0 came out? Go on, you’ll never guess. Yep, it’s me. I’d like my crow with a side of au jus, and a loaded baked potato, please. First a quick word of warning: by no means are my comments here to be construed as any sort of a formal review. While I’ve tried to run all of these apps through their paces, I wouldn’t feel comfortable calling any of my comments a review — they’re more like first impressions. That said, while Read More
I’ve been keeping my eyes, almost obsessively, on all the new iPhone OS 3.0 apps out there. I’ve especially been looking for push apps. I’ll give you the lowdown on the particular Push apps I consider worthy of download later in this column. But first, I want to talk to you about a problem I’m having. I upgraded my iPhone from original to 3GS last week and was sad to see my trusted iPhone die the death of deactivation. The feeling was quickly replaced by that smug pride I know most iPhone users have when they know they have the latest and greatest. So I looked at my 3GS with wonder as I explored the hundreds of new and updated 3.0 apps to roll out over the last couple weeks. I’m super excited that I finally put a Push-enabled chat app on my home screen. I got rid of Apple’s Messages and Notes Read More
Popular iPhone App Updates for July 6th 2009
Calendar16 Tue, 07 Jul 2009 00:05:26 UTC +00:00
Today’s app updates certainly don’t amount to the number from yesterday, but none the less there were still a couple updates released that you should get your hands on immediately. Namely, BeejiveIM which is widely considered to be the best instant messaging application available for the iPhone. All it needs is Twitter Push and then there will be nothing left to improve! Also, if you’re looking for a password manager, I highly recommend SplashID which gets a complete overhaul in the update below. At $9.99 it’s a bit pricey, but trust me, it’s the best option out there and I’ve tried them all. Anyway, here are your daily app updates: AppGmail: Built-in browser. Interface orientation settings. Custom domain settings.Oceanus Web Browser: Tilt scroll. Auto scroll. Authentication support. Bug fixes.BeejiveIM with Push: Bug fixes. Send video support for iPhone 3GS.SplashID 5: Major Update. So Far, Push Notifications on the iPhone are a Letdown
Calendar16 Tue, 30 Jun 2009 19:30:33 UTC +00:00
When Apple launched the iPhone 3.0 update, we were pretty excited about a number of the new features in the OS, but push notifications, which Apple billed as an alternative to battery-draining background processes, were on the top of our list. After a few weeks with the iPhone 3.0 OS, however, only a very small number of push apps have made it into the store, and even some of the best ones, like BeeJive IM (iTunes link) and the AP Mobile app (iTunes link) suffer from major drawbacks. BeeJive, for example, is a great IM app - and so are eBuddy (iTunes link) and IM+ with Push (iTunes link), two other push-enabled IM apps that were released in the last few days. These apps are intuitive, connect to most popular IM networks, and work just as advertised. But when it comes to push notifications, there are just too many little things Read More
Hidden Gems: 3.0 Apps To Download, Wait For Or Avoid
Calendar16 Wed, 24 Jun 2009 20:00:42 UTC +00:00
The iPhone OS 3.0 apps have been trickling out slowly but surely. I’ve been trolling the RSS feeds, the App Store, Twitter and the Internet non-stop for the past week to keep our Peer To Peer, Push Notification and Mapping Applists completely up to date. Some of the new apps and app updates have been impressive. Others, not so much. This week I’m going to take a bit of a departure from the typical hidden gems format and give you a rundown of what’s hot, what’s not and what’s still in the offing for OS 3.0 apps. For days after iPhone OS 3.0′s debut we wondered where the Push Notification chat applications were. Instead of Meebo, AIM, BeejiveIM and IM+, we were treated instead to interesting but unsatisfying offerings like AP Mobile, Tap Tap Revenge, Star Defense and a handful of others. Sure it’s cool that AP Mobile sends you breaking Read More
Today's Notable iPhone Apps - Tuesday June 23rd Edition

By – Today we have some pretty exciting new apps. First of all, AT&T has released a turn-by-turn navigation app which costs $10 a month. This is the first turn-by-turn navigation iPhone application for American maps. Second of all, we've finally got push notification where we've needed it! AIM and BeeJive have both released versions of their applications that keep you connected, even when the app isn't open. Lastly, we've got iHeart, an iPhone application that measures and records your pulse.  see list after the fold AT&T Navigator by AT&T Inc. Category: Navigation Price: Free ($9.99/month subscription) AT&T has released a turn-by-turn navigation application for the iPhone which is for AT&T Navigator customers. An AT&T Navigator subscription costs $9.99/month, so while downloading this app is "free", it's not free by any means. iPhone only: When we toured iPhone 3.0's best features, we mentioned we hadn't yet seen many applications that supported push notifications. Now one of the big ones—AIM—does, delivering instant background messages even when it's not running. As a refresher, Apple doesn't allow the iPhone to run background applications. As a workaround, the new iPhone 3.0 supports push notifications that send SMS-like alerts straight to your phone even when an application isn't running. That means that you get the benefits of background apps with none of the battery drain. I tested out the new AIM (free version) over the course of the day, and overall the push notifications seem to be working really well. I wasn't receiving notifications when I was still actively logged into AIM through my desktop client, but once I signed off at my desktop, the push notifications started making their way to my iPhone.

Just this morning, our own Sarah Perez wondered if Apple wasn't ready for push notifications yet, as only a few push enabled apps had made it into the App Store so far, but as is so often the case in our business, only a few hours later Apple first allows the AIM instant messenger (iTunes link) into the store, and now BeejiveIM (iTunes link), a multi-network IM app that was extensively demoed at Apple's developer conference two weeks ago, has also arrived in the App Store as well. We are still waiting for a number of other apps with support for push to be allowed into the store, but it clearly looks like Apple has now opened the floodgates and more apps will probably follow soon. We got a chance to test both apps and both work just as advertised. For the AIM app, for example, the delay between sending a Read More
AIM and BeejiveIM updated for push support

Jun 22nd 2009 at 10:26PM I hope someone finds a solution... it's driving me crazy! redsn0w jailbroken iphone 3g on t-mobile with ultrasn0w. no aim push either. just nothing happens unless I open the window, at which point it downloads. but no notifications either. no push notification working on 2G unlocked. tried it on beejive, aim and quickpigeon with no results: you're right, beejive is gone from the app store; tried to login to my msn acct and it doesn't work... What's up with Beejive? The app is no longer in Apple's Apps Store. I tried to download it again after bug problems. I am a fan of Beejive and I hope they get it together, soon. Beejive looks tempting, but note that your graphic indicates that it's free when the actual cost is $9.99. Is anyone holding out for Meebo over Beejive? Is anyon I'm really disappointed in the UI Read More

By Rene Ritchie, Monday, Jun 22, 2009 | Pinch yourself. You’re not dreaming. It took longer than we’d hoped, but push IM apps are finally starting to appear in the iTunes App Store. BeeJiveIM [$9.99 - iTunes link] with Push and AIM [$2.99 - iTunes link] are the first out of the goat, and hopefully more will follow. Update: IM+ with push notification for IM, Skype, and Twitter is also now live in the App Store. If you get your push on, tell us how it works for you, and what if any tweaks you make to the push settings to control your level of interruption. And if you notice more push apps going live, let us know! [Thanks to Bruce everyone who sent this in!] Read More
BeejiveIM 3.0 Just Went LIve - Check Out New Features Here
Calendar16 Tue, 23 Jun 2009 00:47:01 UTC +00:00
BeejiveIM has always been an expensive instant messaging client. It is also extremely powerful, supporting AIM/MobileMe, MSN, Yahoo, GoogleTalk, Facebook MySpace, ICQ and Jabber. Thus far it has circumvented the lack of background processes in the iPhone OS by pushing incoming messages to your e-mail inbox. It wasn’t the most elegant solution but it worked well. Now BeejiveIM holds the distinction of being one of the first instant messaging apps with push notification to be available in the App Store, along with AIM. You can get it now for a limited time special of $9.99 – but don’t wait too long because the developers say they will be reverting back to the $15.99 price tag. So here’s a screen shot showing what’s new in 3.0., and don’t forget the update is free! After installing or updating the app you will get an exciting request to be sent push notifications. Yea for technology. Read More
Beejive IM Updated With Push Notifications
Calendar16 Tue, 23 Jun 2009 01:08:21 UTC +00:00
By Jeff Scott on June 22nd, 2009 Beejive today released an update to Beejive IM, our favorite IM application. The update includes the greatly anticipated push notification services. There has been some question if Apple had been holding applications that use push notifications. Well, it looks like they have been, and they have started releasing them. Today we’ve seen updates to both AIM, and Beejive. Let’s take a little closer look at the update to Beejive. Beejive today released an update to Beejive IM, our favorite IM application. The update includes the greatly anticipated push notification services. Adding push notification services to an IM application allows you to stay logged into the IM servers even when you are not running the application. Created by Apple as a substitute for allowing third party applications to run in the background and reportedly much less of a battery drain, done properly it allows much Read More

Oh nein. “Bam, check that out. A whole new galaxy in my pocket”-Ngmoco ist zurück. Read More
Hidden Gems: Keep An Eye On These Apps
Calendar16 Fri, 12 Jun 2009 22:09:51 UTC +00:00
We’re at the end of an era. It’s hard to believe we’ve only had the App Store, and iPhone OS 2.0, for a little less than a year. But, alas, the time of iPhone OS 2.0 is coming to a close. Phone OS 3.0 will hit next week. Soon we’ll be able to install it on our iPhones and iTouches and we’ll all begin exploring the updated offerings of the App Store. It has been a long time coming and I’m as anxious as you to see the promise of push notifications fulfilled as hundreds, if not thousands, of apps start to send out sounds, text updates and badges to your iPhone’s home screen. In the meantime, I want to bring your attention to a couple apps you should keep an eye on as 3.0 hits. One has proven to be the best of breed in what will soon become an Read More

A bit pricey, but worth it
JudiS217 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I was an early tester, and then a happy customer of their IM application for the Blackberry. When I saw a version available for the iPhone, I hesitated maybe a minute or two before hitting the "buy" button. I'm not disappointed. If you have multiple IM accounts to manage across multiple protocols, this is a fantastic application. It's pretty, easy to use and reliable. Looking forward to seeing the developers improve the functionality over time as they did with the Blackberry app, which only got better and better.
Best IM app out there!!! Well worth the price of admission
ERdiesel 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
As a long time user of beejive's great web app, I had high expectations for their native app and I have to say they certainly met those expectations. The UI is the best of any IM apps out there not to mention some key features such as:
Fantastic
=Eric= 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
It blows all the competition away... Not that there was much. I can exit out of the application and still receive chats, because you can set how long you want to stay signed on, it goes up to 24 hours!!
Finally, IM on the iPhone!
Mike1261 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Price: I think it's fair. I think people have gotten spoiled by developers that don't expect much money for their time. I guess people forgot about all the $29.99 WM and BlackBerry apps we used to buy that weren't half as nice as some $1.99 apps here. Remember the $50 Windows 3.11 apps that did less than most things an iPhone can do?? App: Finally! An AIM app that is reliable and keeps me connected without having to register for accounts like Palingro, and without signing you off like the official AIM app. The interface is nice. It feels like a solid app, not fragile or quirky like many other apps have been. Lots of nice thoughtful features that separate this from apps that feel like alpha or beta releases. MobileChat: Naturally everyone compared this to mobilechat. MC has promised a new release that keeps getting rejected by Apple, but compared to the original MC release, it doesn't hold a candle to Beejive!! Even if MC gets their act together, I doubt I will go back to it. This app is too nice. Thankyou to the guys at Beejive! They won the race. Now we just need push notifications from Apple and life will be good.
OMG yes!!! Worth $16! Flawless!!!
PeterM11 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Yay! I've been waiting for a while for this and I must say it's well worth the $16 and u would have paid more!!!! It works flawlessly and I love it!!!! I can finally get rid of yahoo oneconnect and mobile chat!!!!! Yay!!!! I love you beejive!!!!!
And I thought it was pricey!
Bobby! 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
So I've been waiting for this IM app since it's announcement! I remember reading the Boy Genius app about how much it said this was gonna simply leave other chat apps in the dust, and said to myself just can't wait to try it. Well just saw that the Apple Gods approved it and got sticker shocked at the price. Thought to myself what the hell, you get what you pay for in life. Downloaded it and WOW! The user interface and experience is the "beep"! Sat my iPhone down and it went into horizontal landscape and one thing came to my mind, Sidekick eat your heart out!!! Remember what they always say, there is always gonna be someone better than you, well BeeJive will forever stay at the top of the heap! Remember people as they update this product it will only get better! Five stars no questions asked!
Works well, but overpriced
nYtmaRe 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I'm impressed with the stability and responsiveness of the program. I was a user of Palringo, and decided to give this a try. The price is overwhelming, but with no reviews, I wanted to give it a test and share my results. Overall, the features are above par, and the landscape capability is useful. If you want a stable and well featured IM client for iPhone, give this a shot.
The best IM client on the iPhone.
Anonymous Skull 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I've used most of the other IM clients for the iPhone (some of which don't even work) and none of them can touch Beejive. Yes, I was skeptical - first about the price, then about how reliable it was, then about the price again. Finally, I made up my mind and bought it. Simply put, this app is amazing, and you can believe what the other reviewers are saying about it.
Overpriced but a great piece of software
James Baxter 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Legitimately the first usable IM app for the iPhone. Elegant interface, straightforward setup, thoughtful features, flexible protocol/service support. If they bring the price point down to something under ten dollars (I'd recommend something in a six) they'd probably seriously clean up. As it is, myself and others have been willing to suffer the early-adopter tax simply because it's a pleasure to use this app in lieu of all the crashy or spammy options that have preceded it.
Completes the iPhone
Will Sanderson 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This is the app the iPhone has been missing. It has everything and is polished to the T. The best part is that it stays connected 24/7. Now i don't have to keep my IM application constantly open just to receive IMs. It is pricey, but worth every penny. Get it!
Was waiting for this.
duersaur 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Loved the web app, and knew that a native application would be a lot better. Sure the price is pretty steep, but investing in this app to replace all other IM apps out there is well worth it. Now all I need we need is Apple to release push/background capabilities for apps and some sort of group chat :)
Well worth it is an understatement
UnrealTechno 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
With all of the horrible publicity that Mobile Chat gets, I patiently waited for this one. It connects flawlessly, instantly and best of all, can keep you logged on for 24 hours after closing the app and then instantly resyncs all of your missed ims. I also discovered that, due to my iffy wifi, if a message fails to send Beejive will mark it in red as unsent and give you the option to resend. It was worth the wait and well worth the money. You get what you pay for with this one, top notch.
WOW, WOW, WOW (except for the over-inflated price)!!!
Biyobe 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Finally an IM program that does what it is supposed to. Easy to logon, easy to configure you're contacts and so far seems to keep me logged on when I leave the program. The iPhone version holds true to the expectations and will be great once PUSH is available for the iPhone. It would be nice to be able to see the offline contacts. Thanks Beejive!!!
Best messaging app BY FAR
rizzuh 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This app does pretty much everything you could want a mobile messaging app to do. So far, this program works flawlessly. It even has the ability to remain online for up to 24hrs and can notify you of new messages through push e-mail (current work around until Apple releases full push capabilities). The UI is smooth and intuitive, and the people at Beejive seem very committed to continue making this an even better app.
Amazing IM Application for iPhone!!
Dane Smith 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This is by far one of the most amazing iPhone Applications i've seen to date. It allows you to finally IM effectively on the iPhone and stay signed in all the time so your friends arent annoyed when you're switching between apps or doing things because you keep signing in or out. The $16 price tag I think is a little bit much, I think this app would've been better suited at $9.99 or so, but it is by far worth it in my opinion if you're constantly connected to the IM world. I migrated from a Blackberry to an iPhone and missed IMing on my phone so much, and this app makes the iPhone ten times more enjoyable for me. Give it a try...you won't be disappointed.
Not impressed....
Eakster1 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
It "is" the best IM app on the iPhone but....
Finally a simple IM app for iPhone
Bill Dailey 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I've tried several IM programs on the iPhone and this is the first to put a smile on by face. Sure it's $15.99 but my time is valuable. I wasted a lot of time trying to get the other apps to work. BeeJive worked the very first time which is (almost) priceless to me. My favorite feature is the ability to stay online when I don't have the app open. I also love the abilty to receive the actual IM via push email when I'm using another app. Only thing that I see missing is the ability to view the notes I have associated with Yahoo contacts but that might be a limitation in the Yahoo side. Excellent work!
Beejive ap
less3000 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I love this ap but I am experiencing one major flaw....isnt it suppose to notify you when your phone is closed...I tested this with my home puter and it only notify me for the first message..after that i get nothing else unless i go into the application...whats up with that??
Great app, little expensive
eluque1696 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
App works great. Better than the others on the market. It is a little expensive though.
Nice job!
lititz 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
So far so good, well worth the wait and the price. Leave it to Beejive to get it right. I especially like the unique text entry method.
Best IM - A bit pricy to competition. BUT WORTH IT for something that WORKS!
MacInfoSys.com 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I have bought/downloaded all of the main IM apps on the App Store and so far BeeJive has produced one of the best solutions out there.
Very Happy
ABQautoxer 5.0 stars Version: 2.1.0
I had this on my blackberry and I had been waiting for it on the iPhone. It didnt disappoint, works great. Don't bother with any other IM app.
Totally awesome
iJohnw 5.0 stars Version: 2.0.1
An im application can't get any better than this. One word - awesome!! Haven't had one problem with it since I downloaded it! Thanks Beejive! Altho I do wish it had text notifications instead of email but it should be better once apple releases push notifications
Great, but need Skype also
delson-the-racer 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Please implement Skype support. It's the only one requirement ;)
Great, but still lacking a bunch of features
mangaphreak 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Considering the price of this app I expected a bit more than I actually got for my money...
Be advised this program has an annoying blacklist anti-piracy feature.
steffi3 3.0 stars Version: 2.1.0
In other to protect their app from piracy they maintain a blacklist (kill switch) so that they can blacklist any phone using their app in an illegal manner. Today I've been a victim of this approach whereby somebody has obtained by device ID and is using it within their cracked app and BeeJive have added my device ID to their blacklist. So having paid $15.99 for this app I'm now paying the price since I've not been able to use it all day and they require you to send them proof of purchase to remove your device ID from the blacklist. Something that I've sent them already but four hours on and I'm still on the blacklist.
3.0 w/ Push version is buggy
Nexx 2.0 stars Version: 2.2.0.24
Version 3.0 w/ Push is buggy. Status change doesn't always work, random disconnects resulting in no IMs, strange multiple AIM logins and random program crashes (even after hard reboot/shutdown). Suspected AT&T internet service but iPhone web-browsering worked fine and I was able to log-on to my IM accounts using my desktop computer without any issue.
Timeout too short
lefrik 3.0 stars Version: 2.2.0.24
Push is here! But after about 15 mins BeejiveIM logs you out when not running. That is kinda useless because then people can still not reach you. Please give me a way to stay logged in for days and I will give u 5 stars.
Disappointing – Buggy and No New features other than push
JC98031 1.0 stars Version: 2.2.0.24
I am very disappointed with this role out. For starters, Yahoo does not work. I get an error: Connection Failed on all failback ports. Secondly, the app hangs with a spinning hourglass.
Upgrade Not Working - Crashes, Freezes
Richardcnj 1.0 stars Version: 2.2.0.24
Prior to the upgrade this was a great app. Upgraded last night and program constantly freezes. I have had to reboot my iphone 4 times. I deleted the original app and reinstalled. Problems continue. Phone is running OS3.0. There seems to be a problem with the new release.
3.0
TimChoi89 1.0 stars Version: 2.2.0.24
I just installed and it's so buggy! It crashes everywhere! I can't even edit contacts! >:( this version was definitely rushed!
Ten dollars for a headache
R00M237 1.0 stars Version: 3.0.1.9
First of all, when I'm at my computer, AIM messages get sent to the available client, Google chat is random. Sometimes I get messages sent to both, sometimes not. No rhyme or reason. And sometimes I get messages on my iPhone that I received on my laptop an hour before. Annoying.
Fix this please
