PopCap Releases 'Bejeweled HD' for iPad
Calendar16 Thu, 17 May 2012 07:33:48 UTC +00:00
This past December PopCap gave their iOS version of Bejeweled 2, which had been around since the early days of the App Store, the heave-ho in favor of a new version of the game simply titled Bejeweled [ $0.99 ] and a second separate app for its spinoff mode Bejeweled Blitz [ Free ]. Both new games were arguably better than their original unified iteration, but for some strange reason Bejeweled Blitz was Universal while Bejeweled proper got left out in the cold in regards to iPad support. Today PopCap addressed this by releasing Bejeweled HD [ $3.99 (HD)], an iPad-native version of the world’s most popular match-3. While it’s sort of a bummer to not see a Universal version, Bejeweled HD does support the new iPad’s Retina Display and looks simply fantastic in that high of a resolution. It also comes equipped with the very same modes as its smaller Read More

App Smart Extra: Top 10 New iPhone Gaming Apps for 2011
Calendar16 Wed, 28 Dec 2011 23:00:03 UTC +00:00
I love video games as much as the next guy, as long as the next guy doesn’t spend hours a day grinding through the upper levels of Call of Duty or the latest Super Mario creation. So for casual mobile gamers, as promised in this week’s App Smart column, here’s a list of my top 10 new iPhone gaming apps for 2011. Scribblenauts Remix ($1) A beautifully-designed cartoon adventure game for children, Scribblenauts Remix is the mobile version of the popular Nintendo DS title. (For ages 9 and older.) Application Review: Bejeweled

posted by Marcus Nguyen on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 2:00 pm.   Swap two jewels, match three in a line, score some points. Out of moves? Game over. Such a simple framework for a game started in 2001 by the well-known developer Popcap. It has since evolved greatly and fits the touchscreen gaming platform perfectly. First appearing in touchscreen format for Palm OS, it was quickly ported after iOS devices received the 2.0 update; it really didn’t gain too many new updates though. That is, until now. With the new Bejeweled, an upgrade to their hit Bejeweled 2, the gameplay is faster paced, the graphics refined, audio improved, replay still there, and its price dropped. These aspects turn Bejeweled into a must-have for any puzzler out there.  Read on for the full review:  Bejeweled really doesn’t stray far from its roots in this update. However, it is an update, and Read More
'Bejeweled' Goes Free Via Facebook
Calendar16 Mon, 19 Dec 2011 15:19:31 UTC +00:00
Attention: if you're particularly fleet of finger, you can grab PopCap Games's new-fangled Bejeweled [$.99] for the price of $0. Apple is continuing its crazy promotional program via Facebook, and this week it's giving away Bejeweled while supplies last. All you need to do to claim a free copy is hit this link, mash a few buttons including a "Like" or two, and then you can download the game for free, like a boss. We recently gave Bejeweled a spin and came away thinking, "Yep, this is Bejeweled." That isn't a complaint, either -- this new iteration is as good as any in the franchise, and that means it's really good. Especially in bursts. Give it a shot. Also, get ready for a bunch of crazy deals in the near future. Ninety-nine cents off is going to be baby stuff compared to what we're going to see later this week. iTunes Read More
Apple gaf eerder al de game ‘Where’s my water?’ gratis weg. Read More

Daily iPhone App: Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies
Calendar16 Thu, 15 Dec 2011 13:00:00 UTC +00:00
EA has been on the App Store for a long time. Say what you want about subscription minigames and in-app purchases, but recent release of Tetris and Bejeweled demonstrate that EA has a good play. Activision, on the other hand, still doesn't quite get the App Store, and the result is games like Call of Duty Black Ops: Zombies. Not that this latest version of this game is bad. In fact, it's a pretty faithful recreation of the popular variant of the console military shooter. You shoot zombies, earn money to buy weapons and upgrade your map, and then shoot more zombies to earn more money. The graphics are fairly high level (though don't compare to games made specifically for iOS like Infinity Blade), the virtual controls work just fine, and the experience is more or less equivalent to the real thing. There's even a dual-stick shooter called Dead Ops Arcade Read More

iPhone App $0.99 Our Review By Jason Wadsworth on December 13th, 2011 Rating: :: PUZZLE PERFECTION This replacement to the retired Bejeweled 2 app has everything a puzzle player could want in a matching game. Developer: Price: $0.99 Version Reviewed: 1.0 Device Reviewed On: iPhone 4S Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: Over the years, PopCap’s uber-popular Bejeweled franchise has become the gold standard for matching puzzle games. Its popularity spans just about every modern platform imaginable and there are few players out there that haven’t swapped more than a few gems in their time. While Bejeweled didn’t invent the swapping, matching, puzzle gameplay that has become so ubiquitously popular, it was certainly one of the biggest contributors to it’s present day success. This particular iteration of Bejeweled is the mobile counterpart to PopCaps most recent full-blown game, Bejeweled 3. In fact, this Read More
