The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More

Labor Day Weekend Sales Extravaganza
Calendar16 Sun, 05 Sep 2010 17:53:17 UTC +00:00
It's Labor Day Weekend in the U.S. and most every retail sector in the land is offering major product sales -- and the App Store is no exception. So, without further ado, the following games are available for a reduced price through this three-day, holiday weekend. Namco Sky Burger, Free (down from $1.99) NimbleBit's Sky Burger is a fun exercise in burger stacking that's seen a great deal of success since it recently went free; presently it's sitting at #6 free title in the App Store. Now's the time to grab it. Glu Mobile Robot Unicorn Attack, $0.99 (down from $2.99) If there's any game in the App Store that is double rainbow all the way, it is without question Adult Swim's Robot Unicorn Attack. It's got unicorns!! I Dig It HD, $6.99 (down from $9.99) InMotion Software's I Dig It HD is an iPad take on the iPhone original that Read More
While folks in the US are enjoying this Labor Day weekend, EA Mobile is reducing the price on its Hasbro games to as low as 99-cents. EA’s No Work, All Play sale started earlier this week and lasts through the Labor Day weekend. The sale includes the following titles for the iPhone and the iPod Touch: So fire up your iPhone and iPod touch and snag one or more of these titles while they are still on sale. One or more would make a nice compliment to your new iPod Touch which is coming this week, wouldn’t it? Read More
I was about to embark on a three-and-a-half-hour trek home to Connecticut from Maine after a beach weekend. I had two youngsters in the back seat and, my wife and I would quickly discover, no food. But I had gadgets, and I had apps. And I was about to find out if they could mollify an 8-year-old boy, Luca, and an 11-year-old girl, Juliana, more effectively than snacks. A little preview: if you have a BlackBerry, pack lots of snacks. An Android requires fewer, and an iPhone (or, better yet, an iPad) may completely replace road food, if you choose your apps well. My general philosophy is that staring silently out the window is one of the more rewarding uses of brain power. But when that gets old, the children’s bickering gets loud and you notice that two nearby drivers are engaged in highway texting (for real), philosophy does not help. Read More

Calendar16 Sat, 03 Jul 2010 10:25:44 UTC +00:00
In celebration of this holiday weekend, several game companies are hoping that you'll load up on some new games while loading up on burgers and hot dogs. Four of the biggest iPhone developers have discounted a selection of their games for this event, and a few other random sales are occurring as well. There's bound to be something on this massive list that piques your interest, so in between lighting off tiny explosives in the name of freedom and stuffing your face with barbecued treats make sure you hit up these sales before they're gone. Boggle For iPad Hits The App Store
Calendar16 Fri, 28 May 2010 18:17:35 UTC +00:00
EA has released an iPad-optimized version of the classic wordsearch game, Boggle.  As you would imagine, those sixteen cubic dice have never looked better in digital form. Boggle for iPad plays like the iPhone version of the game.  Shaking your iPad acts just like shaking that covered plastic tray in real life.  The sixteen cubic dice will bounce around and finally position themselves in the open slots.  Once they have settled, you have three minutes to form as many words from the visible letters as possible by dragging your finger across the top of the letters. The game features multiple modes of play, including pass ‘n play and the ability to send challenges to friends via email.  The challenge feature supports both iPhone and iPad versions of the game.  It also keeps track of all of your stats and achievements, so you can see if your skills are improving. EA Holds Massive Spring Sale
Calendar16 Thu, 01 Apr 2010 15:05:03 UTC +00:00
In celebration of Spring, EA has discounted a number of their games until April 5th. The list includes a wide range of titles included below: The sale lasts through the weekend until April 5th. So, I wrote iTunes (reported a problem) when I received my bill. And even though the game's info says that it's in English, and it's not, I was told that there is nothing that they can do for me, that the 'functionality of the game is not Apple's responsibility." So... another $5 down the damn drain... Still no response from the developer... sucks that I paid $5 only to be able to leave a goddamn 1 star review.   #11   Today, 08:08 AM Senior Member iPhone 4, iOS 5.x Join Date: Oct 2011 Posts: 245 Can't wait any more to try this game ! Boggle Review: Good Word Game, 3 Buckaroos Well Spent
Calendar16 Sun, 07 Mar 2010 00:14:34 UTC +00:00
EA has finally won me over with one of my favorite games ported over to my iPhone! BEAT THE CLOCK! Test your word wit with BOGGLE, the exciting iPhone®/iPod touch® game from EA Mobile. Popping with personality, this pocket-sized version of the classic word-search game packs a lot of punch! My Take Yes my friends, you have read that correctly, Electronic Arts and I are on the same page for once.  I’m usually ready to bash the juggernaut, but Boggle to me has always been a solid puzzle/word game.  Even back then when I got a hold of it in the late 70s. There are plenty of clones out there but they never match up to the real deal.  One funny thing I notice when playing Boggle, Scrabble or any word games is what you find in the mix.  Some might be suggestive perhaps.  Ever thought about Sigmund Freud and how Read More
EA Games hits hard on December 22nd, bringing out a total of 24 games on sale, while the Appvent Calender offers up "Sponge Dude." Christmas is quickly approaching, and sadly, so is the end of many of these deals. But don’t despair yet, because the sales just keep rolling in. Namco just kicked off their “winter sale” yesterday, and EA is back in the game, too! At least this is a nice surprise from EA! EAMobile just sent out two tweets saying, “The following titles will be up to 50% off for the rest of the holiday season! Happy Holidays everyone! Boggle, Madden 10, NBA Live, Rock Band, Surviving High School, Wolfenstein RPG, American Idol, and more!” “And more?” Shockingly, that “and more” includes the likes of Scrabble, Tetris, and Need for Speed: Shift. Mysteriously, some titles that were supposed to stay at $0.99 ’til Christmas are now at higher prices Read More
Friday, December 11th brings us two great sales from EA Games, as well as a nifty snowboarding game from the Appvent Calender. EA Games has given us a great gift in preparation for the weekend: we have not one, but two great franchises on sale for $0.99. Both Boggle and Life have had their prices slashed to just under a dollar, while the Appvent Calender is featuring Crazy Snowboard, a 3D snowboarding game from eZone. I looked at Life myself a few months ago, and it’s a great port of the classic board game. Almost every element makes the transition well, from the spinner to the colorful graphics to the fortunate and unfortunate events that happen to your poor character. Playing board games solo can be a lonely experience, but Life’s AI’s are competent and you can fast-forward through their turns; on the other hand, if you actually have a group Read More

With two daily-deals programs running at the same time, we've decided to roll them both into one handy news article for your reference. Gotta love those savings, right? Daily deals are apparently popular this Christmas season. Between Blacksmith Games’ daily free app from the Appvent Calender and EA Games’ 25 Days Til Xmas Sale, there are a lot of one-day-only specials to keep track of. While EA Games isn’t offering any free games, they’ll be offering up to 80% off on one game per day ’til Christmas, with some games as low as 99 cents. As for the Appvent Calender…well, you’d be crazy to pass up on free games. So, from now on, we’re going to try and update you daily on these awesome deals. Today’s freebie is Snorkeling, a game from Alfonso Bonzzelli. I’m still trying to figure out why there’s a fishing bear, but it certainly looks worth a Read More

Some of the titles listed below are still relatively new, which means that they have been marked down to their lowest prices ever, while some can just be considered great deals.  You should have no problem finding at least one title worth downloading, if not a handful. Crashes After Splash Screen

This game is currently unplayable on my 2nd gen IPod Touch running OS 2.2.1, even after a hard reset. I will amend this review after the developer fixes this problem.
Good... But Not Great
QuickWit 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I have to agree with the weakest part of this game being the lack of a Pass & Play feature. Playing against people is what makes Boggle so much fun, and I can do Pass & Play with almost all of the clones out there. Who wants to take the time to email someone and wait to see if they take the challenge? And you have to hope that they have the game. I wondered about this when I saw "Grinders" review where he and his "buds" were playing in the airport. Then I noticed that all of his reviews are of EA games. Man I HATE that.

pppeach 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I've loved Boggle ever since I was a kid, and have been waiting for an iPod version since the App store came out. SO, I was pretty psyched to unexpectedly see it under the featured Apps. I was a bit worried seeing under the reviews how many people couldn't get it working, but I decided to risk it and am glad to find it working perfectly. I have bought the EA version several times for my cell phones over the years, and can say that I'm impressed by the iPod/iphone version, not at all disappointed. The game looks great - visuals are excellent. Runs smoothly, no lag. Classic Boggle fun! I like how you can see all the possible words when the game ends on one list in alphabetical order, instead of categorizing by word length. The Advanced mode adds a new twist - the first and last letters switch places each time you find a word, so the board is constantly changing; really makes you think about you word choice! I'm a nerd and love all the statistics it keeps track of. The only minor cons: I think it's TOO touch sensitive which can get a little irritating. Also, I don't like how if you enter an incorrect word you have press the X to get rid of it, you can't just start writing another word. Why can't it just auomatically erase or at least let you start a new word automatically? ButI'm just OCD about these kinds of things. One thing I do miss from the cell phone versions is the puzzle/unlimited mode where you have unlimited time to try to find all the words. That was my fave mode! >:o But overall, extremely satisfied with this release! Andddd, the price is very reasonable. The cell phone versions were $4.99 I think? So a pretty good deal IMO
Hasbro Fail
killmore 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
The game is great. This version is so lacking. The dictionary is completely bogus. So many words that are not in any dictionary for the english language, like 'soth' and yet common words like 'lordy,' 'fart,' and 'queer' are missing. The challenges to friends don't return their scores and you can never compare who got which words. If you don't want to keep playing the current board because it's lacking, the only way to reshuffle is by returning to the main menu of the app. The game will regenerate the board that was just played if you quit and return, which means that you have to cycle to the main menu to reshuffle the board... Hasbro Fail!
Well done

There are quite a few of these games but as always nothing beats the original! I also bought Scramble but it would tell me I missed out on words that weren't even in the English dictionary!!! Boggle is legit and it shows you get what you pay for! Looks really nice and is easy to play also.

Great Presentation but...
circle_of_iron 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This game has great presentation. It looks and plays beautifully. I love the obsessive stat tracking as well. My sole complaint with this game is unfortunately a game killer, which is that the game does not randomize the board. I have tried shaking it for vairous lengths of time, not shaking it and just hitting the new board, but in all the games I've played I frequently end up playing the exact same letter configurations. That of course defeats the whole point of Boggle.
