This is a nice application. I was really glad when Apple added the 30 second rewind to the playback controls.. this app takes that even further providing additional 1, 5, 15 and 30 minute rewind and fast forward as well. (It would be nice if the synchronization between the elapsed time and the REW and FF scrubbing was a bit better) Being able to add multiple bookmarks to an audiobook is great... adding notes is pretty cool (though for the type of books I listen to, I'm not sure I'll be adding notes)

just build this into iPod ??? Just goes to show you the folks at Apple aren't bookworms or this would be SOP on any iPod. Thank you to the independent developer who created this! I even called Apple service once to ask how to bookmark & their answer was "No one ever asked me that before. I guess iPod doesn't do that." I would give this 5 stars but I just started to use it so I can't say it is perfect. Thank you!

I'm really dissapointed. Everytime I start a book, it plays for 10 seconds then the app shuts down. I have tried uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, then using the app and the same thing happens. I recommend waiting for an update before purchasing. I am using 3.1 on my 3GS.

First, thanks to the developer who was very responsive to requests to make it work with the Ipod Touch. I have never had this application crash, either on my touch or the Iphone. Before syncing to either one, I converted my audiobooks (and podcasts) into single file .m4a format instead of ones with multiple chapters. I'm told the upgrade will address these issues of multiple chapters and podcasts, but it is a pretty easy problem to work around.

Five stars for the concept and for working well the first day. This is a must have for Audible suscribers. I can't imagine why some of these features were not included with the iphone.

I love this app but it won't let me speed up the book to x2 speed. Please add this function and then this app would be perfect!!!

I like the idea and bought it immediately - however, it frequently freezes and more importantantly, it stops whenever I try to use any other function on my iphone, which makes it almost unuseable for me. I hope they can fix the glitches, and meanwhile I have reverted back to using my regular built in player. Right now - a waste of money.

Having used iPod nanos for years, I was fairly distraight when I got my Touch and found out how bad the audiobook capability was. Thank goodness for Bookmark. My favorite features:

Thus far, I've listened to three audiobooks with this app and I must say that I'm extremely impressed with it. There are a few additional features however, that if implemented would make Bookmark the perfect audiobook player. 1) Title Folding. I have many titles from the iTunes Store that are comprised of multiple parts and scrolling through all of them can be a bit tedious. The ability to fold all the parts of a given title into a single entry on the main screen would be awesome. Once a title is selected, we could then scroll through the individual parts. 2) Sorting. It would be great if we could sort the list by title, author, genre, length, etc. 3) Variable Playback Speed. Previously, I extensive use of the 2x playback mode that the iPod app provides. It would be nice if Bookmark had truly variable playback speeds but at the least, implementing the .5x and 2x that the iPod app allows would be much appreciated. 4) Instant Replay. While I love the quick navigation provided by the slider, accessing it can, at times, be a bit difficult. A dedicated instant replay button would be very nice. Even better if the button could be configurable. 5) Startup Options. It'd be nice to have the player open up to the last played book but not begin playing until I choose to do so. 6) Eye Candy. Not really neccessary, but it'd be fun to have a couple different themes or backgrounds to choose from. A landscape mode would be nice as well. I applaud the developers on creating such an awesome application and I look forward to seeing what can be done with it in the future.

So it is hear at last... a way to bookmark ! What took so long, well a thoughtfull dude made this happen and very nice work indeed. Now its game on

Until this is resolved this app will not be used and the review will stay one star. Once that's resolved it will be up to a three or four. The layout is pretty lame and not intuitive by any means. Keep trying. This is why trial apps are so important.

Can't get it to work - or even boot up - on iPod Touch 2nd Gen 3.1.1. Disappointing. Is there a way to get your money back?

I have obtained this app and it has exceeded my expectations. This is such a better way of listening to audiobooks. The app is simple to use, and I do not have to worry about losing my place. The slidebar feature is super, as it allows me to go forward or back at desired intervals. Thanks for a great app. Well worth the money.

When I first started playing books on my Touch it kept losing the place in my book. So I went to Google to search for a solution and I found a review of Bookmarkapp. I purchased it almost immediately from itunes. I figured for $3 I wasn't taking much of a chance. I was pleasantly surprised that the app does exactly as advertised and is a bargain to boot. The only caveat is the books must be in m4a or m4b format. The website indicates that future versions will handle mp3’s.

Downloaded because my my 3rd gen iPod Touch treats MP3 files different that M4B which seems to be the format for audiobooks. Was unable to jump to the time where I had stopped listening to an audiobook prior to purchasing this app. Best I could do was jump forward 45 minutes. If I tried to jump farther it dropped me back to the begining. Should be able to drag the time bar to where I want to start listening. Also needs more controls like a rewind and fast forward. Could not figure out the 30 second jump back that was talked about by others.

It is nice to be able to place bookmarks so I don't have to constantly search for my place when my touch fogets. That said, I listen to my ipod primarliy in my car, where it is docked. Maybe I should have known better, but the program does not work when docked, and any bookmarks that are placed are not saved for direct play through the ipod. The features of the program are exactly what most people probably need, but unfortunately I'm not one of those people, and this problem was not clear to me until I installed it.

This application works great ... I have really enjoyed it and am able to consitently keep my bookmarks even after syncing and such. I have even sent myself notes through this .... Also, I need to say that he the developer promised some new functionality in the upgrade and i am blown away. I tried and am using the Beta, and all five things he was going to be improving (backgrounding, start issues, earphone integration, etc.) worked flawlessly. This app just seems to get better and better. I am a usability snob and while I already loved this app, now you put it over the top with these upgrades. Also works with external pause button on my bluetooth headphones.
