I've been learning German for a few years now and have been searching for an application to help me with vocabulary.

For anyone familiar with the BYKI program on there computer or PALM, this will come as no surprise. It is very much similar to BYKI on other platforms but also very new at the same time. It is very comprehensive and instead of having to type out the words or phrases in the last step of each language, instead all you have to do is select the correct answer from a list of multiple choices. Which in my opinion is excellent. The slowing down of the audio is also very helpul for first time users as well. And not to mention you can download several (over 50) extra lessons from the website (all without having to leave the app) for free, so your getting alot more then $8.00 worth here. As a current language nerd (i have successfully taught myself german, russian and manderin chinese) and someone that has tryed everything, this program is a strong reccomendation for first time and experianced language learners. The only thing better would be a rosetta stone iPod Touch/Phone app. And even then it would be a toss-up.

This app is wonderful. I'm a beginner and was having difficulty learning through various audio disks and books. This app gives you the ability to hear, see and associate each word or phrase. I'm surprised how much has actually stuck in my head as well as my eagerness to keep it up. I absolutely reccomend. I even bought the Italian version as well

The best app ever!!! Highly recommend, my school only offers Spanish and French corses so I'm loving this, But when I try to imagine my self actually talking to someone that speaks the language it's difficult, if you could put a "conversation test" after the quiz I would be sold. I voice talking to me and I have to respond with the right phrase like I would have to do out on the streets of Germany

I love this app. I use Byki Lite on my mac, and I was so excited when this came out for my ipod touch. It gives you a list of words, and you learn them. What's interesting is even though the interface is absurdly simple, you really do learn. I've done Japanese, Korean, and Scots Gaelic, and I remember almost every word I learned, not cause I'm smart, but because the technique is so good.

This one really works.

I love the product and works great. This has taught me a lot more in a faster amount of time than many other products. I noticed with the latest updates that some features that were in other people's reviews were implemented in the update. So I would like it if the Byki Express/Deluxe Editions were able to sync with the iPhone version. It would be cool to download other users lists from your site as you can with the desktop versions of Byki. If syncing with the desktop editions isn't in the works for future updates perhaps you could just allow access to these other lists from your site. Thanks and keep up the great work!!!

I love love love this ap. It really forces you to answer the cards correctly and if you don't it drills it into your head over and over and over again. I was constantly getting two mixed up in my mind; on any other program, I might have just passed by it but this one makes you want to excel. Developers, please add a phonetic Russian application. I'd pay big bucks for it.

I love this app. I live in Deutchland and have been looking for a solid low cost solution to learning more german. I was going to buy a program at the PX for $40, but I decided to scout out the app store again just in case something solid had come along. TADA!!! It did... Hope U get a program for Japanese, because I'd buy that so fast I'd leave burnt rubble on my bank account...

This is a great app theres just one thing thats missing. You should have added in a letter pronunceation (i lnow i spelled it wrong) for each letter so you know how to pronounce the german letter a or the u with those to dots abouve it. So could you add how to prononce all of the german alphabet. Think you

I am living with a family in Germany, while I am totally immersed in the german language, I find this is great to learn new words quickly and decipher what everyone is saying around me! Easy, fun and fast! Must buy!

The flash card method works for me the best. I like the fact that it also has pictures and phrases unlike the accela german app. And it's also much cheaper get this app! Only thing I wish it had or made more obvious Is a way to delete or track the cards you've learned. Maybe also give you a cumulative test based on the lessons you've learned. Thanks.

I loved this app.. The money is totally worth it considering that then you can download a lot more lessons for free! It really makes you learn.

I was fluent in German when i was a child. this program is helping me get back to speaking and writing again.The other review are right on. I am adding my because I agree with the others. PEASE ADD AN OPTION TO MUTE THE ENGLISH. I need to here the german over and over after I learn the german part.

This has been an excellent supplement to my formal German language courses.

After reading the reviews I decided to try it out, and was I impressed! Thank you for making such a great affordable app to learn German. I too have tried many different ways to learn, but this is by far the BEST! I would also like to see the alphabet.

The App doesn't work with the new update as of June 17, 2009. So wait for a fix...I loved it for one day before updating!

I've used BYKI German for several months now and generally like the application. After upgrading my iPod Touch to 3.0, however, the application locks up upon viewing a flash card. Rebooting, removing and reinstalling the application, etc. have not fixed the problem. Before installing 3.0, I would have given this application 4 stars. Now, it doesn't rate even one star, but I didn't see a way to give it 0 stars.

This app would be really awesome if I could actually use it! It SEEMS to have great features, but I wouldn't know because it keeps freezing up every time I try to view any of the flashcards. PLEASE FIX THIS so I don't end up wasting eight bucks on this app.

this app has NOT been working at all since the update to os3.0. By "not working at all" I mean, it will sometimes load, sometimes not. If it DOES load it won't play nice and freezes. I've tried deleting the app and re-sync'ing and no dice. Please get on the ball and fix this problem, for an 8 dollar app that is so well designed I would expect alot better, after all, how long did software developers have to toy around with the new OS before it was released? Quite some time is the answer. Here we are, weeks after the official release of the OS and STILL no fix. I am on an OG iPhone, but that should have nothing to do with this.

The learning approach works well for me, in general. Canned content, particularly that associated with separate purchase of desktop Byki Deluxe is great. I'm eager to see updates to this application and improved integration with the desktop and online environments. While canned content is good, use of my own personalized/specialized lists is critical. The ability to study "on the run" adds enormous value. That this app does not interface better with the online and desktop components is a significant frustration and disappointment.
