Activision's been relatively quiet on iOS, especially when compared to other big game publishers like EA. But the company has always had a hit with its original Call of Duty Zombies app, and now it's looking to replicate that success with a new version, based on the Zombies Mode in last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops. The new game is set to arrive on the App Store December 1, and just like the old version, it will bring Call of Duty's zombies mode to life in full 3D. The game will be US$6.99 (the same price, it might be noted, as the also-releasing Infinity Blade 2), and will come with just one map (more on the way), as well as a whole other game in the form of Dead Ops Arcade, a dual stick shooter that was found as an easter egg in Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game Read More
The Bearded One attended a somewhat clandestine Activision event a while back to see a very mysterious game. We didn't know anything about it at the time other than it rhymed with "Mall of Beauty," and we were especially not allowed to say anything about it. We weren't sure when it was coming, so we've spent the time since waiting for the high sign that we can let the cat out of the bag on the whole thing. Well, apparently it is coming tonight. Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies is the $6.99 sequel to Call of Duty: Zombies [$4.99 / HD] which as you may recall similarly just appeared on the App Store randomly one day. Kotaku has the skinny on all sorts of details on the game, and mirrors our experiences in that it plays like an updated version of its predecessor. The biggest improvement are in the controls, Read More
This is interesting -- Activision has apparently teamed up with an iOS developer to release a promotional game for its upcoming title Prototype 2. ProtoSlice is now available as a free download from the App Store, and it's made by the creators of Slice HD, a developer named SmallBall. The new game is very similar to the old one (which itself reminds me of Hand of Greed), in that you need to try and use your real finger to press a fake button, all while dodging virtual blades. Of course, in ProtoSlice, you're dodging Prototype-themed blades, and you can win new screenshots of Activision's game by finishing levels. The game is free, so if you're looking forward to Prototype 2, downloading this one is a no-brainer. But even more interesting about this game is simply the fact that it exists. Activision has experienced a little success on the App Store with Read More
The Top Ten Scariest iOS Games of All Time

It's Halloween night, and while you're sitting on the couch waiting for trick-or-treaters to show, why not curl up with one of these terrifying iOS games? A lot of games feature friendly monsters and zombies, but we've picked our favorite creepy, dark, and freaky iPhone and iPad games to make your evening a little scarier. 10. Contract Killer: Zombies Glu's latest freemium first-person sniper game has a few notable improvements over Contract Killer. For one, you're sniping undead zombies instead of mafioso, and two, the gore factor is upped in a big way. Some missions even have you defending a human ally while they're surrounded by zombies-- a scary position to be in. Our Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a bloody shooter with busty undead blondes and shotgun fun, how can you say no? 9. Dead Escape In this adventure game, you have to combine items to puzzle your way Read More

Yikes. I’m not entirely sure when this happened (the Appera states Oct 1 – so this isn’t news), but you can purchase all four Call of Duty: Zombies maps for a mere $4.99. That’s $1.25 per map, or $0.0000000005 per zombie killed. Regardless of what the actual numbers break down to, this is a seriously amazing deal, and it’s actually FREE for those who own the original Call of Duty: World at War Zombies game (originally $9.99 with one map, reviewed here). Each of the DLC maps was originally priced at $5 a pop, so this is basically a $25 package for 1/5 of its original price. The review I linked to above should give you a whiff of what to expect in terms of gameplay, but let me state this again: COD Zombies is still far and away the best FPS I’ve played on the iPhone. In celebration of this holiday weekend, several game companies are hoping that you'll load up on some new games while loading up on burgers and hot dogs. Activision recently released a pseudo-sequel to the surprisingly popular Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies [$9.99], a first person zombie defense shooter made famous by its online four player coop multiplayer modes that we were very impressed by in our review. Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II [$9.99], aside from having a title that's an even bigger mouthful than the first, comes loaded with the new Shi No Numa map. Shi No Numa is a very large swamp filled with buildings, new weapons, monsters, and zombie traps that fans of the original game will no doubt quickly fall in love with. What's odd about this "sequel" is that the only thing different it has over the first, which is little more than the new map and everything in it, is available via a DLC purchase in the original. Also, Zombies II has Verruckt and Nacht Der Untoten (the Read More
Activision Releases Call Of Duty: World At War: Zombies II
Calendar16 Thu, 03 Jun 2010 17:00:08 UTC +00:00
Activision has just released Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II, a sort of pseudo-sequel to the original hit game that’s actually more of a standalone expansion pack than anything else.  Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies II features the same gameplay as the original, but expands on the experience with a new map, weapon, items, achievements, and playable characters. The new map, Shi No Numa, is set in a swamp that’s infested with zombies.  The new weapon, Wunderwaffe DG-2, is able to fry hordes of zombies in a single blast.  The new playable characters consist of Tank Dempsey (US), Takeo Masaki (Japan), Nikolai Belinski (USSR), and the infamous Dr. Edward Richtofen (Germany).  And finally, the new items include Flogger, some sort of massive zombie executor, and Zipline, used for quick getaways. Just like in the original version, other maps, which in this case include Verrückt and Nacht Der Read More

It has been a really busy week for our game reviewers, but as always, our main gamer Trevor Sheridan was able to find the time to update some of the more significant game reviews to help keep you informed so you don’t waste a single penny on a questionable game. Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies ($9.99) Verrückt Map ($4.99): A first-person shooter that requires you to defend yourself from waves of zombies by hunkering down inside of a bunker that is full of weapons. The game received several gameplay enhancements since our initial review, but the biggest addition is the Verrückt Map which is available as an in-app purchase, bringing the game’s total to a whopping $14.98. Check out our updated review to see if the new map is worth the price of admission. Glow Hockey ($.99): Air hockey with a neon glow and particle effects.  The game was Read More
Gameloft says they've got iPhone locked down
Calendar16 Sat, 20 Feb 2010 14:00:00 UTC +00:00
Gameloft is one of the bigger iPhone-specific (or at least mobile-specific) game developers out there, and in fact they're so big, they tell Mobile Entertainment that they're not scared of their development partner Ubisoft and other big game developers headed to the iPhone. Ubisoft developed the most recent Assassin's Creed game for the iPhone, but Gameloft developed the first, and Gameloft's Gonzague de Vallois says that their game had better ratings and sales. To a certain extent, yes, the App Store creates a level playing field for game developers, and allows companies even smaller than Gameloft to get their games out to a mass audience and gain a following based simply on gameplay, not necessarily marketing or other factors. But despite Gameloft's bragging, some of the most popular titles on the App Store, from Rock Band to Call of Duty: World at War Zombies, are able to tie a successful brand Read More
We’ve inexplicably ignored Activision’s faithful port of their PC game DLC to the iPhone. With the release of the Verruckt map, we weren’t able to resist. The release of Modern Warfare 2 last year took claim of many ladies’ boyfriends and husbands for days on end. With the release of this famous DLC pack from the CoD: World At War, ladies, you know where your guys have gone. Presentation The original DLC for the console games focused on rich backdrops of the World War 2. For this iPhone incarnation of the same game, Activision understood the device isn’t as capable in terms of storage and memory so they honed in on one barrack with zombies attacking on all four corners. The general look and feel of the game remain faithful to the original though scaled down a bit, obviously. The sound effects complement the overall eerie feel of the environment: you Read More
Call Of Duty: World At War: Zombies Verrückt
Calendar16 Fri, 12 Feb 2010 18:47:09 UTC +00:00
By Chris Hall on February 12th, 2010 Call Of Duty: World At War: Zombies Verrückt is out, and it's a bit pricey. Gasp, that title took me about an hour to type out. I did a review a few weeks back on COD:WAW:Z and found it to be an enjoyable, but short experience. After a few hours of gameplay I put the app down and never came back to it. With only one level, the replayability just isn’t there unless you really got into the multiplayer mode. Well now there is a new level to play.”Originally released as downloadable content for Call of Duty: World at War, “Verrückt” gives players the opportunity to experience a new location, new weapons, electro-shock defenses, Perks-A-Cola Machines and the endless attacking legions of Undead.” Verrückt is available as an in-app purchase, and can be had for $4.99. I know, $4.99 is pretty steep for a Read More

Call of Duty: World At War Coming To App Store?

Treyarch, makers of Call of Duty: World at War, are saying they’re taking a close look at the possibility of expanding their selection of titles in that series for the iPhone. In an interview, their community manager, John Olin, said that more iPhone titles are “a definate possibility”, mentioning that they were encouraged by Ideaworks’s Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies [App Store, $9.99] release. To date, CoD:WaW:Zombies has sold over 11 million copies. He says that the classic full version of CoD:WaW “would be a natural fit” on the iPhone. Categories: News  Tags: line Read More

25 iPhone Games That Should Rock on the iPad

Posted 02/04/2010 at 2:53pm | by Andrew Hayward Apple's iPad announcement event didn't put an especially large focus on the gaming possibilities of the new device, but what was shown demonstrated how easily developers can modify current iPhone and iPod touch apps with just a brief time investment. We've already seen how updated versions of N.O.V.A. and Need for Speed: Shift will take advantage of the iPad, but it got us thinking -- how might some of the other best-selling or beloved iPhone games use the iPad's updated features to enhance the existing experience? 12 “Wow Factor” iPhone apps [iPhone Applications]
Calendar16 Fri, 22 Jan 2010 15:23:15 UTC +00:00
There are plenty of jaw-droppingly cool iPhone apps, and we’ve assembled a few of them here on JAiB today. These aren’t necessarily the apps you’ll use every day, and they might not even be your favourites, but each of these apps is almost certain to elicit a “whaaaaat, did you just do that on your iPhone?!” from anyone you show them to. Google Maps, Street view ($200 – well, I’m just referencing the price of your iPhone) Let’s start the list off nice and easy. This is something amazing that the iPhone can do by default, and I’ve used it a few times to remember the name of a restaurant I ate at, when all I knew was which street I was on. Street view on the Google Maps app is almost unreal in how easy it makes “walking” down a street from the comfort of your couch a reality. Bump Read More

iPhone Gaming: Looking Back on 2009 and Forward to 2010

With the year coming to a close, I feel confident in saying with as much authority as I can muster that 2009 has been an amazing year. Soon we will be posting the results of weeks of deliberation on what we feel were the best games, a holiday buyer's guide for people who opened an iPod touch or iPhone this Christmas, and other year-end stories highlighting the various games we feel are the "must-haves" of 2009-- But it hardly seems right to summarize the year in a few simple lists of game titles, brief synopses and links to reviews when so many remarkable games were created and events transpired that were still highly noteworthy or influential but fall outside of the rigid boundaries of "best of" listings. When the App Store first launched on July 10th, 2008, very few people, myself included, realized the full potential of a reasonably open platform Read More

Best iPhone Games November 2009

Our November game ratings are in place now, and here are the top of the heap. Our monthly "best of" round-up summarizes the top rated games that we looked at in the previous month. Each game reviewed receives a 1-5 star rating relative to the other games from that month. Generally, a 3 or higher is considered a "good" rating. Our final scores are not the product of any traditionally objective measures such as graphics or sound, but simply reflect the games we would most recommend to others. November was a great month for iPhone game releases, and our expanded list reflects that activity. November's "Best iPhone Games" are highlighted here: Jet Car Stunts - A remarkably fun jet car racer/platformer that had us coming back again and again due to its great controls, fresh visual style and mind boggling levels. Call of Duty Zombies
Calendar16 Wed, 02 Dec 2009 06:20:37 UTC +00:00
Call of Duty Zombies was born as an extra mode found on the COD:5 game for the Xbox, Playstation and PC. The game took off and essentially made a name for the otherwise 2nd place development team Treyarch. Trying to ride on the success of their newfound gametype, Activision has released an iPhone version of the game that strives to keep the experience as close to the original as it can. This means that weapons, levels and overall gameplay elements are identical. Nothing has been changed. In theory, this is a great concept but it is not without its flaws. The original game relied on the many buttons offered by a controller but now is required to fit all of that on a touch screen. The controls can be a bit touchy which makes it hard when you are being attacked by mindless zombies obsessed with chewing on your noggin. The Read More

Souvenirs souvenirs !

For some reason, shanking a Nazi zombie and watching a mist blood spray across the screen, with five more waiting to gnaw my arm off in a dark, disgusting prison cell just isn't as much on the iPhone. Call of Duty World at War: Zombies replicates the best part of Treyarch's otherwise inferior Call of Duty game—Nazi Zombies—to the iPhone. It looks great. It sounds great. And parts of it, like the multiplayer over Wi-Fi, work great. It doesn't feel great though. The controls suck. We're all used to the inherently mediocre virtual joystick, a pale translation of a three-dimensional control implement into a flat two-dimensional space, which here moves you backward and forward, and strafes left and right. Turning and looking up and down is both finicky and imprecise, accomplished by sliding your thumb in the direction you want to turn or look—a longer slide makes you turn faster and Read More

In a surprise move, Activision has released Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies for the iPhone. This first person shooter is a Zombie survival mode adapted from the console version of the massively popular Call of Duty game. This Zombie mode was an unlockable mode in the console version and pits you against endless waves of Zombie invaders breaking down barriers as you try to defend your position by rebuilding barricades and upgrading your weaponry. The iPhone version of the game includes one map "Nacht der Untoten" but Activision promises an add-on purchase for The Zombie Asylum, Verrückt in the near future. The game comes with both single player and multi-player Co-op modes that supports bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Online play. Yep, Online play. That means you can match up with 3 other players around the world and play together to defend your building. The gameplay video below shows some of Read More
Possiamo giocare in modalità Singola oppure in co-op multiplayer locale. Per quanto riguarda i controlli, oltre a quelli di default (che non trovo particolarmente comodi) troviamo Read More

DEVELOPERS PLEASE READ. thanks. 
boamunk 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Ok. I bought this game today and it is absolutely outstanding. The gritty atmosphere, the limbs being shot of, and the INCREDIBLE sound make this a perfect port of the much loved Nazi zombie mode on the original world at war. HOWEVER. after paying a hefty 10 dollars for this game, anyone who purchased it deserves to have at least 4 total maps for no additional cost. With the DLC on xbox live, 10 dollars buys you four maps on it's own. So making us spend 10 dollars for one map is going a little over board and could result in losing customers. But you have everything else spot on and a sincerely thank you for making this game possible. Hope you read this. Thanks And congradulations in making the best app ever.

XxROGUE_831xX 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
By far the best app I've ever played. Worth the $10. For people complaining about movement and aiming you just need to fix ur sensitivity levels. Hopefully more maps coming soon and if you could play online without wifi this app would be perfect.
Verückt
Destroyer00q 5.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
Ok people, it finally happend, you know it and so do I, Verückt has FINALLY been released. Is it good? Ofcoarse. Is it 5 bucks- good? Most definatly. This map expounds on an already increadible game, making it arguably the best app in the store. The update includes (besides the map) more reliable Internet connection, smoother gameplay, and more achievements. There are a variety of new weapons to choose from, including MG-42s and Gewer 43s. The sounds and graphics seem to be overall a step up from Nacht der untoten. Great map, great game and great times. Buy it and you'll love it, my gaurentee. ~Destroyer00q P.s. To my Jewish friend. I'm a Christian. Born again. Believe in God. And I personally take offence to you calling Christians ignorant. Actually, as long as we are all pointing fingers, you are just as "stubborn" as I am!!! God saves, believe it. And I mean that to everyone, not just my Jewish friend. Your soul won't die, so will you be burned in hell for eternity (which is a rele long time)? Or will you be in Heaven with the one true God? Your choice. Wow, game review and preaching tangent all at the same time.... I'm good.
Verrückt
Ip0d13 5.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
JD_2020 said that verrückt will be out "in weeks (not months)" This was on his Twitter. The date 4/13/10 is not the verrückt release date, it's a splinter cell game release date. I hope verrückt is out soon! Update!!! I deleted my current version of Nazi zombies and redownloaded! I got verruckt and 1.2!!!!!!
Best app
redtearer 5.0 stars Version: 1.2.0
This app is awesome. For all you losers complaining about the fact that it is 5 dollars for the new map while it was 10 for all 4 in WaW, you also paid like $50 for the game itself plus tons of money for all your months on live(unless you play ps3)and you don't even pay a fee for online in this so tell me which is cheaper????? Update: Not to mention the only reason most of you spent 50 dollars on waw was for zombies and here you don't even have to unlock it. You also got it for online, but if you play xbox like me then you still have to spend money for live. Personally I think waw is the best game even if it didn't have zombies and take it over mw and mw2 in a package combined if the package was same price as waw!!!!!!
tip on getting to level 15+
zombieslayer10 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!! this game puts all nonbelievers away and anybody who can even get to level 4 should get this game no questions..the flawethrower is pretty good but it takes to long to kill zombies. (How to get to level 10+) start out the game and wait until you have 600 dollars at least than buy the m1a1 carbine (not the machine gun it tells you to get in the tutorial) and kill zombies for a while. zombies die in one stab until level 4 so dont waste your ammo and just stab them for those rounds. when you have 3500 dollars open the door that says help on it for 1000 dollars (in between levels to avoid dieing unexpectedly) then open up the stairs for another 1000 dollars and take an immediate left and then another left and go all the way down the hall and buy the gun for 1500 dollars. after you have the 1500 dollar shotgun turn around and go back to the stairs when you are at the stairs look to the left and go into room and go back into the far right corner and camp there (do not open the stairs on your right because then the zombies will come through there) if you keep the stairs closed then that forces them to come through the door to get you just keep an eye on the window on your right for zombies coming through there. camp out with the shotgun and dont go for headshots just shot them in the shomach for a 1 hit kill and just keep doing that and make sure you keep an eye the ammo so if you need to go in between levels to get more ammo or you can just get the max ammo icons if one of them shows up. when that tactic starts being less effective go to the mystery box on the far left side and get a ray gun and that is also a 1 hit kill and keep the shotgun when getting the raygun so you have 2 1 hit kill weapons then you should get to at least 14 or 15 then you are on your own. try and keep the shotgun going as long as you can to save the raygun amo since you cant get more of that and that will help. i got to the near end of level 20 (the last level) doing this so it does work.
Not to bad!
Flurry114 4.0 stars Version: 1.00
Very fun FPS. Just like COD WAW zombies for 360....same maps and all. Control takes some time to nail down but one you get it you got it. Not worth $10 but is say get it anyway if your a COD fan (although this means you have to put down modern warefare 2 for a minute!! Haha)
Step into the shoes of a soldier and fight off the undead!
OSx86 5.0 stars Version: 1.00
This game unexpectedly hit the store and just scanning the screenshots I knew this would be a hit. Fast paced, lots of weapons and the multiplayer elements will have you coming back for more. The map may seem small but in single player it's a lot of ground to cover. Unlocking new areas on the fly with credits which are earned with more killls and re-fortifying your Alamo. The zombies range from the slow crawling to the "Left 4 Dead" running variety. The multiple control schemes give you choices and if that doesn't help the aiming mechanics really help aid with targeting your fiends. The achievements are a nice touch as well but I would have liked to see Plus+ implementation to get multiplayer action going and sharing achievements on a global scale. All in all, a great game to pick up and play on the go! Not a waste of my $10!
The stunning best app EVER
Ryanmz 5.0 stars Version: 1.00
This isnt a cheap knock off. This is made by the game devs themselves. This is the SAME natch der untoen as the console and pc version. It runs flawlessly on my first gen itouch. The gameplay and adjustable controls are incredible. New maps are promised and in develpoment. ONLINE CO OP leaderboards and profile system. ACHIEVEMENTS and awards. This game is outstanding. I truly cannot say anything greater. The graphics are stunning. This game is and forever will be the defining game of the iphone.
WTF?
Teashen 3.0 stars Version: 1.1.0
Ok. First of all, this game is really great. So all u plp out there who r going to whine about the graphics. Think. U r playing on an IPOD!!! Not a 360. Anyways I was at someones elses house, using the wifi: Linksys. So then I realized that there was an update. It said that it will fix online play for first generation iPod touch owners. And I was excited and updated it. It worked ok at that house I was in. I thought that the online play can work for the iPod touch 1st gen! Then I went back home. Got into the game again. I was using the wifi:NETGEAR. And I tried online again. And guess what. It said that MY WIFI DIDNT SUPPORT MULTIpLAYER! WTF!!!!! U developers called that an update? Or just an update that lasted 30 minutes? Just please fix this! 
wow perfect resemblence

Metallica139 5.0 stars Version: 1.00
I have been wanting a nazi zombies app for iphone for forever and I was so glad that they actually made one! It is just like the console version and for anyone who finds moving/looking around hard, just go to options and change your controls to dual sticks. It's a lot better than the default in my opinion. Overall this game rocks and it is so worth the 10 bucks
