Description

card.io provides a SDK for mobile developers to easily accept credit cards in their mobile apps. Typing on mobile phones is slow, and most consumers don't have a separate hardware attachment to swipe a credit card. card.io solves both of these problems: customers just hold a credit card up to the phone, and card.io reads the card information using the phone's camera.

This app is a demonstration of the card.io SDK. It does not process payments, and card.io never saves card information.

Card.io, the mobile commerce company started by two former AdMob employees, Mike Mettler and Josh Bleecher Snyder, is launching a software development kit (SDK) for Android today. The SDK for iOS launched in June, allowing mobile app developers to retrieve credit card information from cards held up in front of the phone’s camera. As of today, the company says that card.io is up-and-running in 80 iOS applications, with 750 developers in total having signed up for the service. Does not work on LG Optimus T I click the "Scan A Credit Card Button" and text boxes for card number, expiry date, CVV and zip code pop up along with the swype (or android) keyboard. I can't even enter data in the text boxes. I like the idea. I'd love to see it work.
