Causeworld is an app which will offer a fun experience for the user and at the same time help those in need somewhere in the world. The premise of the app is very similar to that of Gowalla or Foursquare. Users check in to their location via the app on their phone and it will award the users points based on where they have checked in. The difference between this app and the rest is that these points awarded can then be donated and turned into money towards a cause of the user's choice. Various companies have donated funds to the Causeworld site and through the Causeworld app, users can pick the charity they would most want to help out with. It ends up being a win-win situation for everyone and you can walk away at the end of the day knowing you did something good.. kind of. The app doesn't Read More

These points, obtained through checking-in at various locations, can be used to donate to charities through big brands that support the app. It’s a great feature, and we hope you’ll use it in Austin. What we didn’t talk too much about is the app itself that enables it, CauseWorld, which just released a new version of its iPhone app in the App Read More

Many of them allow you to “check-in” places to let others know you are there. So how do you differentiate between then and decide which to use? Well, here’s one good way. CauseWorld, is a free iPhone and Android app that lets you check-in places, but it has an added real-world bonus: big brands give money to charity when you do so. And this week at SXSW, CauseWorld is teaming up with Read More

CauseWorld Lets Users Give To Haiti Via Their iPhone
Calendar16 Fri, 15 Jan 2010 16:00:46 UTC +00:00
CauseWorld (iTunes link), an iPhone app from Shopkick, is off to a strong start. They first launched in December, and they quickly got the coveted featured spot on the iTunes app store. Yesterday, they started letting users donate to the American Red Cross for Haiti relief. The application gives users karma points for checking in to certain retail stores. Those karma points can then be converted into donations to various charities and other good causes (water in Sudan, food for the poor, trees in the Amazon, etc.). Big brands supply the cash for donations (and get lots of advertising exposure). Users decide how that money gets spent. see our original launch post for more details. We’re waiting patiently for user and usage numbers for the CauseWorld. The app combines the addictiveness and gameplay at FourSquare and Gowalla with actual good deeds, and we’re hoping it’s a winner. In the meantime, Shopkick Read More

By Arron Hirst on January 14th, 2010 CauseWorld combines real-world investment from some massive players to provide you with a way of donating to real-world charity causes, absolutely FREE. Let’s take a step back from this materialistic world for a minute, and put things back into perspective. It’s time to give something back people. If you’ve ever made an excuse not to donate to charity .. (do you stamp on little kittens while you’re at it?) .. well, frankly, now you don’t have one. Launched on Monday, ShopKick Inc have announced they’ve partnered with both Citibank Inc and Kraft Foods to bring a modern charitable experience to the iPhone that you’ll just want to get involved with – and trust me, you will! Available for FREE from the App Store, CauseWorld allows you to collect “Karma” when you either come close to, or on entering a retail store. Here’s how it Read More

From the sounds of it, this concept is pretty cool. I get to donate money to good stuff just for walking into stores. Wonder how you 'check-in'? Well, guess I'll go try it out. Wish you could also add more charities to support.
Nice to see a charity app

Cool app and glad to see charitable giving come to the iPhone! Kudos to Citibank and Kraft for being a part of this. Others should join in.
Extraordinary

I wouldn't usually gush over an app, but this is really something special. You earn money just by using the app, which is actually kind of fun (and there is no advertising, so it's not a commercial thing), and then you decide how to donate that money to charities you like. The point system is a little funny because it makes it feel more like a game, but it's real money going to real charities. I'm going to use it a lot. And I bet that the companies that are paying the money (Citibank and Kraft) will get a whole lot of good PR for this. Very, very cool idea, and a really amazing app!
Excellent!

This is a great idea! Awesome. Now I can go do my shopping and donate some of my efforts to charity. The iPhone is so great! This app is pretty simple and it only took me a few minutes to figure it out. They support a bunch of retailers already, but I bet this will catch on and many others will join in. Does anyone know anything about these guys? Cool.
What a great idea!

I didn't get it at first, but I figured it out it became kind of addictive. And I love that I have the opportunity to donate to some of my favorite causes like Feeding America and GlobalGiving! Score one for social media! :)
Man!

Are you serious? Somebody else pays for my donations, and I get all the credit on Facebook? ;) That is ridiculously cool.
