On the heels of a cool new content update to for iPhone and iPod Touch, creator PopCap Games has slashed the prices of the vast majority of its App Store catalogue. From now until whenever the studio decides to call it quits, you can grab its best games on the cheap, including the aforementioned Plants vs. Zombies as well as Peggle. Here’s a Quick Hits list for your pleasure: It’s hard to believe that everyone doesn’t own Plants vs. Zombies or Peggle already, so I thought I’d plug Chuzzle real fast. It’s another neat match-three game in a long line of match-three titles that don’t quite do enough to distance themselves from Bejeweled, but it’s hip in bursts and has a ton of character to spare. At this price, it’s worth a shot if you’re into puzzle games. If you are interested a new version 2.0 of the app has been Read More
Apple promotes Big Games, Great Prices on the App Store
Calendar16 Wed, 06 Oct 2010 17:34:49 UTC +00:00
If you’re one to browse the App Store via iTunes or from your iDevice, it’s likely you’ve come across previous Apple lists that promote certain apps/games, like the Awesome iOS 4 apps and The Best Games You’ve Never Played roundups. Well Apple has released a new one and it’s called “Big Games, Great Prices”. This list of games actually coincides with the recent fire sale of many top notch titles that saw prices drops in the $0.99 – $2.99 range. Of the 50 being included, some of the more notables include: A good number of these games are considered must-haves, especially if you dig that particular genre. I highly recommend you take a look and see which you’d like to scoop up at the reduced price. You can find the “Big Games, Great Prices” roundup on the App Store here . Read More
Today marks the first time we will be giving away promo codes for a universal app, which means everyone has a chance to win, no matter if you are an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad owner.  AppAdvice has teamed up with developer CM in order to offer you a chance at winning one of five (5) promo codes for Peppers The Game ($2.99). Peppers The Game is kind of like Chuzzle, only instead of fuzzy creatures with eyes you will be matching peppers.  Well actually, two of the game’s three modes feature Chuzzle-like gameplay, the other is a more standard affair.  The basic idea of the game is to match peppers and obtain large combos in order to score enough points to unlock the next level before time runs out.  If you are having trouble finding matching peppers you can shake your device to rearrange them, but this can only be Read More
Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Thursday, December 10, 2009 Category: iPod, iPhone, and iPad Gems: Apps, Games + More Welcome to this week’s second gaming edition of iPhone Gems. Today, we’re looking at three new and relatively high profile puzzle and maze games: two are sequels to games we’ve previously reviewed, and the third is a port of a title previously released for PCs and Macs. The names should all be at least a little familiar: Aqua Forest 2 from Hudson, Chuzzle from PopCap Games, and Pac-Man Championship Edition from Namco. None of the titles in this roundup merited a rating of B+ or higher, but of the three, Pac-Man Championship Edition is the strongest pick—a legitimately worthwhile one if you’re willing to live with less than ideal controls and pay for additional downloadable content. Read on for all the details. Aqua Forest 2 Hudson’s original Aqua Forest was one of our favorite Read More

Chuzzle
Calendar16 Thu, 31 Dec 2009 07:20:39 UTC +00:00
Chuzzle is an app from the makers of Bejeweled that plays almost exactly like the game. The app features little fuzzy balls with high pitched voices who somehow explode when 3 or more are matched together. The entire object of the game is to match three or more chuzzle together by dragging rows or columns. There are 4 different modes to play through in the game, Classic, Speed, Mind Bender, and Zen. The classic mode is your basic match three game while speed challenges you to make moves quickly before the time runs out. Mind Bender plays kind of like a Rubik Cube having you trying to match a pattern and Zen is basically a free play mode. The game isn't very original in its approach as I can find almost hundreds of games that use the same gameplay element. But I can say that the game was extremely snappy. Never Read More

iPhone Games: The Most Anticipated Games of 2010
Calendar16 Mon, 28 Dec 2009 11:37:43 UTC +00:00
There's no doubt that 2009 has been an amazing year for iPhone gaming, but in looking ahead to 2010, compiling a list of the things we're looking forward to the most proved to be just as challenging as listing the games we most enjoyed in the past. To wrap up our series of year-end "best of" articles, let's take a peek at things we're excited to see released or hear more about in 2010. Without a doubt, the current elephant in the room of indie iPhone gaming would have to be the recent news of Unreal Engine 3 running on the iPhone 3GS and 3rd generation iPod touch. Details are still hazy at best as to how licensing this engine is going to work, as well as how much (or how little) effort it will take to port existing projects which utilize the Unreal Engine 3 to the iPhone. There are Read More
PopCap wants to help you usher in an entirely new decade by having a sale on three of their popular games, so if your new year’s resolution was going to be to play more casual games on your iPhone or iPod touch, you are certainly in luck. Peggle ($4.99 -> $1.99): One of the most addicting casual games to ever hit the App Store.  Peggle consists of shooting a ball from a launcher at the top of the screen in an attempt to hit as many pegs as possible on the way down. You are only given a certain number of balls to clear the board of all of the orange pegs, and if you fail to do so, the game is over. Peggle features 55 levels, 40 master challenges, an iPhone-optimized control mechanism, and pass and play multiplayer. Check out our in-depth review to learn more. Chuzzle ($4.99 -> $1.99): Read More
Chuzzle review

Published: December 11, 2009 Comment         PopCap is the premium developer and publisher of addictive casual games. Their lineup consists of Bookworm, Peggle and Bejeweled 2 that are all gems in the App Store. While waiting for PopCap to release Plants vs. Zombies we get a port of match 3 puzzler Chuzzle. Chuzzle is basically a combination of Bejeweled 2 and iPhone classic Trism. You match 3 by dragging rows and columns of cuddly fuzzy Chuzzles. At times some of them get locked, and that column or row isn’t able to move. There are 4 different game modes in Chuzzle: classic mode, Speed mode, endless Zen and puzzle Mind-bender. Classic mode is untimed letting you take your time making matches, and trying to chain combos together. When you are unable to make any further matches you have to use one of your lives, or scrambles. This scrambles the chuzzles, and Read More

Read More
PopCap Brings Chuzzle to the iPhone, Now Available
Calendar16 Wed, 09 Dec 2009 14:50:09 UTC +00:00
PopCap makes some of the greatest PC games of all time. They’ve already brought Bejewled 2, Bookworm, and Peggle to the iPhone. Chuzzle is the newest addition to their iPhone collection, and was just released in the App Store for $4.99. In Chuzzle it’s another take on the match 3 genre by PopCap. Their original match 3 Bejeweled requires flipping of adjacent jewels to make matches of three in either columns or rows. In Chuzzle you drag entire rows or columns to match three chuzzles in any way as long as they’re touching. Chuzzle for the iPhone seems to be an exact port of the PC game with the same four gameplay modes: classic, speed, zen, and brain-teaser mode. Zen mode doesn’t have time constraints, and isn’t score based. Brain teaser mode gives you a set of chuzzle, and you have to drag them around to match the chuzzle arrangement given. Read More

Cute and fun game.
ZaffiroRubino 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a very nice game for people who like to pass the time. Nothing wrong with it and it's perfect for sitting back and having some down time with. I just wish that you can move the Chuzzles so they set in place and you can move another group to those Chuzzles that were set.
The game I have been waiting for!!!
Stooooooook 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is worth every penny! Played on the PC for a loong time and so happy to finally see it for the iPod. So addicting and fun. Keep tapping on a chuzzle for a surprise.
Great game but colors needs some work!
Brandon Gribin 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm a huge PopCap fan but I'm a little disappointed in this one. The colors blend together a little too much and I have trouble being able to tell the difference between the light blue and white dudes. This almost makes the game unplayable. If the problem gets fixed, either by tweaking the colors or adding a colorblind option, it'll be a 5/5 in my book.
EXCELLENT!
thetoothfairy 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Plays just like the computer game. They did a good job on it for the iphone! One thing I would do and that is move the bottle some where else as it tends to get in the way at times other wise I am just pleased with my purchase.
Not the gameplay, but the app
ALT-F-X 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Please note that I am not rating the chuzzle gameplay as "four" stars, chuzzle is awesome. But the app seems to take a ridiculous amount of battery. Something I cannot wantlingly waste. Everything else on the app is stellar but please take into consideration the battery draining effect this app has.
Finally here
Glecko 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
One of my all time favorite pop cap games finally lands on the iPhone. Live it. Hoping for something similar to bejeweled blitz down the road. Only odd thing is how fastyhevgame plays on my 3gs. Not that the game is too hard, just that the animations are hyperfast.
Finally!
amylink 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've always thought how well suited this game would be for the iPhone. The game is really fun, the touch interface works really well, and it doesn't get slowed down. I had just tweeter popcap asking when Chuzzle was coming to the iPhone and next week it showed up. Woot!
"at last it's here"!!!
Honeygal 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm one more reviewer who fell in love with match 3 games because of Chuzzle- when I saw that PopCap made iPhone versions of some of their other games that I liked, I thought it would be here any moment. Nope! But since I found it just yeaterday AND since yesterday was aiLso my birthday, I've decided that Chuzzle in my iPhone was my next best b'day gift (the iPhone last year still rates as best gift ever)!OK, on to the actual review-if you love or even like Chuzzle on your computer, then you'll love it to go. It's smaller (but then so is your iPhone right) but all of the features you already love are there and nothing is missing! If u r like me then u have been checking "chuzzle" in the search option & coming up either empty or w/Fuzzle- NOT the same-it seems a lot of us emailed PopCap to ask WHEN they'd release Chuz from iPhone oblivion as well- see, solidarity DOES get results! Is it the fanciest or flashiest? Nope, but it IS one (really, 3)of the more fun & entertaining games out there. Muff said, buy it & start playing if u haven't already. No buyers regret here!!!
Chuzzle is awesome!!!
Msilerio 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Thank you PopCap for bringing chuzzle to iPhone.
It's popcap.. Hence it's digital crack
Cheezefacta 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Finally had my dream come true. Chuzzle on the iPhone. This game is so ridiculously addicting that it blows my mind. I purchased this the second I saw the icon.. Didn't matter if it was 4.99 or 49.99 I love it so much. Great purchase!
