The main section of the program includes: an overview of the war; a segment on the war's causes, in-depth entries on each of the major battles (organized both alphabetically and chronologically); multimedia presentations; biographies of Union generals, Confederate generals and non-military personal; a timeline of the war; as well as sub-sections on Washington and Richmond during the war. There are separate sections on railroads, medical care, music (with some sample songs), the Navy, Americans, economics, maps and statistics of the war.
