Technically speaking, Color Dictionary maps thousands of color names to the 267 NBS/ISCC standard centroid colors originally identified by the National Bureau of Standards.

Data used in this Color Dictionary is derived from the work of John Foster, which is in turn based on the work of David Mundie, which itself was based on the work of the researchers at the National Bureau of Standards.
