+ Universal App $3.99 Our Review By Jennifer Allen on July 6th, 2011 Rating: :: IDEAL Cooking Light Recipes is a great and fun way of finding out new healthy recipes Developer: Price: $3.99 Version Reviewed: 1.0.1 Device Reviewed On: iPhone 4 iPhone Integration Rating: User Interface Rating: Re-use Value Rating: Overall Rating: It’s a good sign when a recipe app offers such attractive photos that even when having only just eaten, my mouth instantly watered at the prospect. Cooking Light Recipes is an accompaniment to the magazine of the same name and it does exactly what anyone could want from a recipe app, offering up enticing propositions that can be combined into a two course meal. Light recipes are obviously the focus in this app but that doesn’t restrict things to substandard quality food by any means. There are 300 recipes in all, each divided into different categories for easy Read More

My favorite recipe app!
RecipeRipper 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Yum, yum. Beautiful, mouthwatering photos and recipes from my favorite magazine! I bought the app this morning and have already created three menus to try this week. I wasn't used to scrolling up and down for additional categories, but once I figured that out, I was off and running. The nutrition "tracker" (green and red dots) are interesting. They give menu creation the feel of a game. I found myself browsing more desserts to find the ones that keep my menu in the "green" zone. Recipes and much more here to explore. I'll be using this every week.
Finally!

...a food app that's more than just a compendium of recipes--I can go to the web for that, thank you. This cooking app actually DOES something! Love the changing nutrition calculations, they're fun to watch. I'm actually learning something about how to put together healthy meals.
really functional

I love how you can make menus and see the nutrition for them. If the nutrition doesn't match up, the green dots turn red, which is great of people like me who are concerned with healthy eating. And the photos are GORGEOUS! And I like how you can cook from the app, too. I have an iPhone, not an iPad, and it's great that there are separate tabs at the top of the page for the ingredients and the directions. It's so much easier to go back and forth! Would love to see even more recipes in the future!

good intro but $$ for what you get

I am an avid cooking light reader and find their recipes consistently yummy and innovative. I have been so frustrated by their lack of online presence - not in zinio, no kindle presence. I was super excited to see they are finally coming up with something to obviate my carrying around hard copy magazines. The format is great. I love the menu management and that is clearly what they focused on.I hope they continue to add content as some categories (eg dessert with ~ 10 options) are sparsely population. This does not integrate with zip list or provide any shopping list functionality like "every day food" so if you decide you want to make a menu you need to go recipe by recipe to compile a list. I am hoping someone will finally make an app that integrates with Fresh Direct but I will take any type of shopping list functionality. You cannot search by main ingredient like epicurious. so if you know you have broccoli on hand you will need to flip through all the veggie sides to find it. This will not replace the magazine. I will use it and continue to write emails begging for more e-presence. The app has a lot of potential and if they keep expanding it will be well worth the 3.99. Cooking Light - Please please please consider Zinio and Kindle as other worth endeavors!I
Love the App!

This is a great app and I love the suggested menu feature. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but I would like to see a shopping list for menus and/or recipes. I hope future updates include more recipes. If shopping lists are included in the future I'll raise it to 5 stars. Great job so far.
Advertisements?!
iAmTerp 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
So far it's ok - not as good as the AllRecipes App in my opinion. It took FOREVER to load (even with wifi) and is full of advertisements! I thought paying 3.99 would save me from ads. I wouldn't recommend it for the few features it has.
Beautiful and Practical!

I'm already a huge fan of Cooking Light magazine, and the recipe pictures in the app are just as mouth watering! It's so cool to see the nuritional value update as I add and change items, so that I make healthier choices in pairing sides AND dessert. It will be great to save my favorite menus for later - instead of having to tear them out or print from the website. I hope they keep adding seasonal recipes throughout the year.
Needs a shopping list feature
MomDH 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Seems like a good app so far, I like how it suggests side items. I hope they add a shopping list feature. Also, I wish they had a budget cooking category and quick meals category as they do in the magazine.
