The 50 Best iOS Games of 2011: #50-1
Calendar16 Mon, 02 Jan 2012 22:18:44 UTC +00:00
In case you've been busy spending the holidays with friends and family, or just cross-country skiing to the North Pole, here's our recap of last week's epic, five-part series on the 50 best iOS games of 2011. How many do you own? #50: Temple Run In 2011, independent developers Imangi Studios had their biggest hit yet: The endless running game Temple Run. A cross between Canabalt and Raiders of the Lost Ark, in Temple Run you have to make split-second decisions and quick button presses to try to survive. The combinations of simple swipes and tilt controls, plus Temple Run's freemium pricing and stylish 3D graphics, made it one of the year's best high-score survival games. Our Bottom Line: Now is your chance to be Indiana Jones. #49: Tapper World Tour After nearly 30 years, the Tapper license awoke from a drunken stupor to revel in the App Store. Tapper World Read More

Things are picking up as this holiday season gets into swing. Stay tuned, because I'm sure we'll see lots more of this over the next few weeks. Read More
Over this past summer, Bungie had everybody guessing as to just what exactly they were up to by trademarking both the "Crimson" and "Bungie Aerospace" monikers. In late August, we learned that Crimson was actually Crimson: Steam Pirates [Free], a new strategy game developed by Harebrained Schemes in conjunction with Bungie. Bungie Aerospace would actually be the name used for publishing the title on the App Store, and we would assume, future titles as well. With that mystery finally solved, Crimson: Steam Pirates launched for the iPad on September 1st. It turned out to be a pretty decent strategy game too, if not a bit too linear in its progression. It came with a very generous 8 levels as part of the free download, with an additional 8 levels in a Chapter 2 expansion available as an in-app purchase. Yesterday, Bungie Aerospace launched Crimson: Steam Pirates for iPhone [99¢], a smaller-sized Read More

Developer: Price: FREE Version: 1.0.0 App Reviewed on: iPad 2 Graphics / Sound Rating: Game Controls Rating: Gameplay Rating: Replay Value Rating: Overall Rating: When you think of the name Bungie, it is hard not have a certain Chief of the masterful variety come to mind.  After a decade of slaving away in the salt mines of console land, the storied developer has managed to break free of Microsoft’s shackles.  The now independent publisher has been hard at work on their first game not published by their previous overlords, but when it was announced to be a turn-based strategy game, many an eyebrow was cocked.  Are these concerns warranted, or is this just business as usual for one of the best teams out there? The TouchArcade Show – 16 – "Oh No!" Edition
Calendar16 Sat, 10 Sep 2011 00:00:37 UTC +00:00
On this week’s episode of The TouchArcade Show, I do my best to stop nerd-gasming over Relic Entertainment’s Space Marine long enough to discuss the hottest iOS games and App Store news of the week alongside my co-hosts. At the top, we really dig into Grand Prix Story as well as Bungie Aerospace’s and HareBrained Schemes’ Crimson: Steam Pirates. Eventually, we get into other new releases such as King of Dragon Pass and, of course, that Max Payne HD story we ran the other afternoon. We’ve got one heck of a running gag this week courtesy of Eli’s neighbors, so I hope you have as much fun with it as I do. If you’d like to give us a listen, you can do so just below via all these links. Of course, you can also subscribe to us via iTunes and the Zune Marketplace if you want to get each and Read More

The TouchArcade Show – 15 – Curious Voicemails
Calendar16 Sat, 03 Sep 2011 00:17:41 UTC +00:00
This week’s TouchArcade Show is the longest we’ve ever produced. Coincidentally, it has the most Frogger discussion we’ve ever had, too. As bad as it sounds on the surface, don’t let the latter stop you from lending us your earholes this week. We get into a lot of interesting discussion. At the top -- beyond the Frogger junk -- we chat about the bevy of fabulous releases that came down this week. Following the break, we talk up even more new releases until finally moving onto topics such as censorship and awards shows. This is probably our most off-beat shows, but it's also one of our more fun ones. To give us a listen, just download the file directly or stream it via the links below. If you’d like to subscribe to our audio awesomeness, feel free to do so via the iTunes or the Zune Marketplace. Here are your show Read More

Another REAL game for the iPad!
Eire Raven 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Crimson is one of the most fun and best polished games I've played on the iPad. Tight controls and meaningful strategy underlie this enjoyable sea combat game. It also has taken the feeling of it's plot & story right out of Crimson Skies - something I couldn't be happier about (loved the original on the PC). Since you can try it out for free, there really is no reason not to see this gem of a game for yourself. I think you'll agree it's well worth going pirate! Also, great job to Bungie Aerospace on their first endeavor - you picked a great developer with a diamond of a game.- Eire Raven
Excellent
D6G Russ 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Fantastic turn based tactical game. Love the steam punk theme.
Fun naval strategy
Simmare22 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Finished four missions so far. Interesting light naval strategy game. Kind of like turn based "flight control" game but with cannons! Units special abilities keep it interesting. Very slick, polished interface.I will definitely be buying the second mission pack. Looking forward to trying the multiplayer. It's free to download so give it a try!
Great Turn Based
Grant Stevens 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I was lucky enough to play this at PAX & I have been checking for it to arrive all evening-it does not disappoint + free is a steal...I already bought the 2nd group of missions (yes not free, but well worth it)!Get this NOW!
Amazing
DTM5000 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Really fun game! Published by bungie and amazing gameplay by harebrained schemes!
Nice Game
Pearson Smith 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
For the price of nothing for the first voyages. I'd have to say this is a decent game. I'm a fan of ships and have been out at sea, so I've enjoyed this game. Crimson has a similar look to Harbor Master except you have time to think of your moves like a game of chess. It's sort of similar to Age of Booty for the Xbox. The theme music sounds very familiar. I could see the potential of adding more features. Multiplayer is pass and play like a board game. This is a great game to kick off the first of Bungie Aerospace.
FIRST!!!
Madison Reynolds 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
This game is great and very addicting but I hope they have an update for online multiplayer
Luv ya Bungie!
RedSandBlueSky 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0

Dontony 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
Thanks Bungie. This game has a real smooth feel, great mechanics and an interesting and entertaining story-line. Loving it so far.
Aerospace + Harebrained = greatness
DouglasAmongUs 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.0
I was a bit disappointed when I first learned what Bungie Aerospace is, that is until I heard of this game. Saw it on twitter thanks to @bungietweets and how successful it had been on it's first day of release so I decided to try it out. I am not in the least bit disappointed. Everything about the game is great from the cool exciting theme, easy-on-the-processor graphics and a perfect balance between functionality and simplicity that is rarely seen in mobile or tablet gaming. The game play is easy and the story has been pretty good so far (even if I'm only on the fifth mission. Great work Harebrained and tons of thanks to Bungie for delivering on the Aerospace promise!@Douglasamongus
