Curling3D is a follow-up to MaxNick's successful iCurling game, and adds a new dimension of realism with 3D rendering and on-screen players. Many user suggestions have been integrated into this new curling simulation.

Curling3D attempts to simulate the excitement of the game by incorporating many aspects of the actual sport. Fundamentally, curling is about force, mass, friction, momentum, rotation and collision. The app exploits the sophisticated physics engine built into the iPhone OS to generate a convincing simulation of all these elements as they interact. In the terminology of curling, the weight is the velocity of the stone; the turn is the rotation of the stone (which affects its trajectory); and the line is the direction of the throw or delivery. Curling3D allows the player to continuously and independently control all three, permitting advanced tactics such as the guard, takeout, and tap. In addition, the app allows the player to sweep the ice while their stone is moving, adjusting trajectory after the delivery.

Zo isNoseDial de app van de week geworden en presenteren we drie schaatsapps waarmee je de ijsdikte kunt berekenen, schaatsprestaties kunt vastleggen en de ontwikkelingen rond de Elfstedentocht kunt opvragen. Bij de wintersportapps hebben we Afdaling, Red Bull Crashed Ice en Sneeuwhoogte+. Dit is bovendien voorlopig de laatste aflevering waarbij onze sponsor is. Like another reviewer, I've tried all the curling apps, and finally, with this iPad version, got the curling game I wished to have since playing 'Age of Curling' on my iPhone.The game is quite polished; certainly for one which isn't produced by one of the big gaming companies, like EA Sports, or Gameloft. On launching the app, you can choose between male or female player. Then your country of choice (the usual suspects are there), then it launches a brief, descriptive tutorial showing you how to use the stones or sweep the lanes. There are game sounds, like amusing jeers for a bad throw, or cheers for a really good move. The stone physics are the best I've encountered in these apps, albeit not absolutely flawless. Comically, team sweepers don't step over the stones, but go over them. Just a detail.My only complaint would be about the tutorial, which launches each and every time you start a game. Forgivable, but would suggest that devs addressed that in an update.Suggestions include being to edit team colours/countries, as well as change of venues.The price is spot on. $2.99 is just right for a game of this calibre. I've been playing it daily since buying it, the day it debuted -- yet if the developer really wants to fly up the charts, fire sale this game at 99 cents a month from now, and watch it get insane word of mouth.

I really enjoy this game and am impressed with the computer player team you compete with. The AI that chooses their shots must be pretty sophisticated. Only one complaint/request for the developer... When you reach the end of an end and throw the hammer, the game never displays the final arrangement of stones like it does earlier to help you set up your shot. Instead you just get a score and never see all the stones in their final positions. Kind of frustrating especially if it may be close. Probably could be easily fixed in an app update...
