Daily iPad App: Run Roo Run HD
Calendar16 Wed, 18 Jan 2012 00:00:00 UTC +00:00
5th Cell is the developer behind the very popular Scribblenauts (which was released on iOS to great acclaim last year, and just had a new level pack update), and it recently brought a new title to the App Store called Run Roo Run. 2D platforming is a genre that's almost as old as videogames themselves (Mario, who you may know, is the grandfather of jumping around on 2D platforms), and as far as I'm concerned, Run Roo Run is a master class in 2D platforming design. It also has the added benefit of being a running title of sorts, and a puzzle game as well. The idea is that you, as Roo, a very cute Australian kangaroo, have lost a little blue buddy, and it's your job to jump across the Aussie landscape, over and around various obstacles, to save your friend. But your run is broken up into a series Read More
'Cut The Rope' Now Available On The Web
Calendar16 Tue, 10 Jan 2012 18:18:36 UTC +00:00
In an attempt to convince people that Internet Explorer 9 paired with Windows 7 is a good thing, Microsoft and Zepto Labs are offering a free HTML5 version of Cut the Rope with special features exclusive to the browser and OS. You don't need either, though, to experience what is essentially the mobile Cut the Rope experience at the game's web site -- Chrome, Firefox, or Safari all work fine. As TechRadar explains, the point of this is to show off the pinning component between the OS and IE9. When you pin the web site, you'll be given a set of special levels. Isn't it nice when things work together like friends? Of course, we know Om Nom best from our times spent with it on the phone. After a few minutes of this web version, we're thinking that touch is still the ultimate way to play. On the other hand, Read More
Daily iPad App: Tiny Places HD
Calendar16 Tue, 03 Jan 2012 13:30:00 UTC +00:00
Tiny Places is the latest title from Big Fish Games, which typically releases games on PC (mostly casual stuff like find-an-item and puzzle games), but lately has been making a big push on iOS as well. What's interesting about Tiny Places is that it borrows from from iOS games rather than Big Fish's PC catalog. Specifically, from Cut the Rope. Tiny Places is similar to Chillingo's other physics title (the one that's not about angry birds), in that it features a cute little protagonist trying to reach a goal in a colorful 2D level while using real-time physics to move around. In this case, you play as a chameleon who uses his tongue to hang from various objects, trying to collect "starflies" while moving towards a hole in the wall that kicks off the next level. To start, you can fling the little chameleon around, but as the game progresses, there Read More
Cut the Rope for iOS gets another update – Buzz Box
Calendar16 Thu, 22 Dec 2011 11:26:50 UTC +00:00
Chillingo and ZeptoLab released another update for the popular puzzler – Cut the Rope. Version 1.6 adds 25 new levels and introduces a Busy Bee feature with bees that “never stop buzzing” as they keep moving and stretching the ropes, bringing a new element to the game. As with the original levels, your goal is to select the right ropes to cut in order to feed Om Nom his favorite candy and advance to the next level. It’s everything but easy as you’re about to see from the demo video. And now I’m hoping Android version of the game will get the same treatment soon. I know iOS games make more money for the game publishers and developers, but why we Android users have to wait longer for the updates? It’s just not fair. Finally, before I let you go, check out the short demo video for the latest Cut the Read More
Video: Cut the Rope cartoon
Calendar16 Tue, 13 Dec 2011 08:26:35 UTC +00:00
Just in time for the Holiday season, ZeptoLab unveiled a short animated cartoon featuring the adorable Om Nom monster, which we know from the super-popular Cut the Rope games. The video, which BTW was unveiled at the LeWeb conference in Paris, features the little monster as he leaves the iPad to search for cookies in the real world. A cat notices someone’s present and starts chasing frightened Om. He ends-up escaping by returning to his own world inside the iPad. Here’s the video… Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the Read More

If you’re a small band looking to get some attention, what better idea than releasing a music video featuring some of the most popular games for iPhone? Australian band Hey Geronimo understands that shooting a video featuring some of our favorite games, namely Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Flight Control, and Fruit Ninja, is always a sure hit with iOS geeks like us, especially when you bring those games to life… The music is actually pretty good, too! If you like it, you can get it from iTunes here. What do you think? Read More
Music video: iPhone games get real

This video by Australian band Hey Geronimo is the cutest thing. The group painstakingly recreated scenes and characters from popular iPhone games for their song, "Why Don't We Do Something?". I love the Angry Birds in the car, the flying Fruit Ninja fruit and the cat battling Flight Control airplanes (plus that flight attendant -- meow!). My favorite, however, is definitely the little Cut the Rope doggie. The video looks great as they nailed the look of each game. It's pretty much the perfect thing to watch on a busy Friday afternoon. Enjoy, and have a great weekend! Read More

Well what do you know, you’ll be playing yet again with the adorable creature Om Nom. ZeptoLab and Chillingo launched a new update for Cut the Rope called Tool Box that (as usual) comes with 25 new levels. Moreover, there are also new drawings of Om Nom included, which you’ll be discovering along the way. In addition, hard-core Om Nom “feeders” can unlock the “Perfect Box” mark when completing all levels with 3 starts. Similarly, new achievements are added, and so are additional features like child-safe game progress reset, and improved navigation through the level boxes. Finally, there are also some minor bug fixes and improvements, though we’re not sure what there is to improve in the game mechanics. In any case, if you already have Cut the Rope on your iPhone or iPod Touch, you’ve probably already updated it. On the other hand, if you don’t have the game installed Read More
'Cut The Rope' Gets 25 New Levels
Calendar16 Fri, 14 Oct 2011 11:00:34 UTC +00:00
The original Cut The Rope [$.99 / HD / Lite / HD Lite] now boasts a new box, yet another new mechanic, iOS 5 support, and some other goodies and bug fixes in its brand new update. Tool Box, the branding of this new utilitarian themed box, has 25 additional levels and introduces rotating saw blades to avoid if you plan on making Om Nom’s day. The update also introduces a new Om Nom drawing, as well as “perfect box” stamps for jobs well done across entire boxes. As for the technical side, Cut The Rope now boasts a “safer game progress reset” and a better selection screen -- it’s now apparently easier to scroll through worlds map courtesy the game’s new scrollbar. Cut The Rope, regardless of how long in its sweet tooth it's getting, remains one of our most highly recommended games. You can read our review here if Read More

Besides Doodle Jump, if there's one game I could never get sick of playing on my iPhone, it's Cut the Rope. In the game, you use your finger to "cut" ropes that release candy that (hopefully) end up in a green little creature's big mouth. Other fans of Cut the Rope will be pleased to learn that the sequel was released last week. Cut the Rope: Experiments retains all the things you loved from the first one: challenging puzzles, realistic physics, and that cute little green creature, known as Om Nom after the sound he makes, that loves candy. But the game adds several new features, such as the Professor who is trying to figure out how Om Nom arrived in a package outside his house. The Professor provides running commentary as you play through 75 new levels and some added game elements like suction cups and rope shooters. The farther Read More
ZeptoLab’s Cut The Rope has been a roaring success on Apple’s App Store, with the app spending more time inside the Top 10 list than not. The addictive little game even managed to knock those Angry Birds off their perch for a spell late last year, and according to TechCrunch, there’s a sequel on the way. And it’s closer than you might think… The team at ZeptoLabs spilled the beans to TechCrunch on what they hope will be a worthy sequel to Cut The Rope, while still managing to not actually tell us anything about it. “What on earth is Om Nom?! That’s what millions of fans of the widely acclaimed game, Cut the Rope, have been asking about the cute little monster who eats candy like its his job! That same question has a mad (but not bad) scientist studying the little creature that mysteriously arrived outside his house.” What Read More
Cut the Rope Successor Coming Soon From Chillingo

Posted 08/02/2011 at 9:04am | by Andrew Groen One of the iPhone's hugest successes in gaming is about to get a sequel. Chillingo's puzzle-masterpiece, Cut the Rope, is reportedly set to become a franchise soon as the company launches the second game in the highly adorable series. IGN Mobile has the scoop today as the news was revealed. The only official word that has come from Chillingo is that the game will not be called "Cut the Rope 2" which also seems to be a confirmation that the rest of the story is accurate. The game's logo, attained by IGN through unspecified means features the usual Cut the Rope app logo but with two strings instead of one. Which would seem to hint at Cut the Rope 2. Though maybe they're going for an Angry Birds Seasons type of effect. (i.e. It's the official sequel, it just doesn't technically have the Read More
After Pocket God, Doodle Jump and Angry Birds, we have another super-popular mobile game getting its own comic book – Cut the Rope. However, it’s important to add these comics won’t come in print — rather, ZeptoLab’s partner Ape Entertainment will release them as digital comic books in the form of a mobile app. The first such application will be released in Apple’s AppStore in late August. ZeptoLab unveiled its plans for a digital comic book at the Comic-Con International 2011, soon after announcing the forthcoming update for Cut the Rope and Om Nom plush toys. Commenting on the news, Ape Entertainment’s CEO David Hedgecock said: “It’s an amazing opportunity to work with ZeptoLab on one of the app world’s most addictive and successful games. Cut the Rope for iPhone updates with new Toy Box

By Leanna Lofte, Saturday, Jul 23, 2011 | Cut the Rope, the popular puzzle game by Chillingo, has updated with a new Toy Box, achievements and candy types. Om Nom is jumping for joy with his new Toy Box! Now you can choose to feed him candy, donuts or cupcakes. And Om Nom has been making a special treat for you, too! He has drawn and colored some cute pictures for you to share with your friends, but he has been so busy catching candy he can’t remember where he left them! Will you be the first to find them all and get them back to his gallery? Cut the Rope is one of my favorite iPhone games! Good news for the Cut the Rope fans, myself included. The new Toy Box update will be released soon, allowing you to feed Om Nom in another 25 levels. Also included are new game mechanics that will see you bouncing an array of sweets into Om Nom’s hungry mouth (as you can see from a demo video below). And that’s not all, there are new boxes to unlock with the so called Star Key, which will also work with boxes in future updates. These boxes come with hidden drawings that can be shared with friends via Facebook. Moreover, there’s the “Gift This App” option, allowing users to purchase and send Cut the Rope to a friend. In the other news, Chillingo and ZeptoLab announced Om Nom plush toys which will start selling in September. From what I can say (image above), these will sell like hot cupcakes on a cold winter Read More

New features will include a ‘Star Key’ that allows players to unlock boxes and the ability to choose what type of food is being played with — so it’s the players’ choice whether Om Nom has candy or donuts, but please do try to mix it up and ensure the little guy gets a balanced and varied diet. Cut the Rope update, plush toys coming soon

The video below highlights an upcoming update for the popular Cut the Rope title on iOS -- Chillingo is bringing 25 new levels to the title, complete with some new game mechanics and features. Cartoon creature Om Nom will be able to be fed various types of foods, not just the candy he so craves, and as you can see in the video, there are some new bounce pads to deal with and a few new drawings to find and collect. Finding those drawings can apparently unlock prizes, like the chance to gift the game to a friend on Facebook. The update is version 1.4, called Toy Box, and should be available in the game soon. And there are also some plush dolls coming, as you can see above. Om Nom is portrayed in a few different moods and sizes, and all of these toys will be out sometime in October. Read More
Chillingo Announces Batch of Spring Game Releases
Calendar16 Wed, 13 Apr 2011 16:17:28 UTC +00:00
Posted 04/13/2011 at 8:17am | by Andrew Groen Today iOS gaming stalwart Chillingo announced a slew of new games that they're calling their Spring releases. Like a fashion company announcing their latest seasonal collection, Chillingo has chosen to bring them all into the public eye at once. What's surprising is that the release list looks like the same-old Chillingo we've seen for years. Even after the Electronic Arts buyout, it doesn't seem like Chillingo's direction has been changed very much. Chillingo has a tendency to release a pretty steady ratio of heavily derivative games to experimental games. In this case they've revealed Spider Jack which seems to be almost a complete rehash of their own successful game Cut the Rope [iTunes Link], as well as Dream Track Nation which is heavily reminiscent of Jelly Car [iTunes Link]. There's also Spoing which looks a lot like WireWay [iTunes Link]. However, with all Read More
Chillingo has teamed-up with Monster Media to create two interactive displays that showcase Cut the Rope in a new way. Incorporating nine widescreen touch displays, portions of the game have been recreated on a massively larger scale, allowing players to interact with Om Nom in a “colossal new way” for the entire month of April. At the moment, these interactive displays are placed in two locations – one at Los Angeles’ Hollywood & Highland Center, and the other at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, a major hub for both world and domestic travelers. The new marketing initiative coincides with the launch of the Cut the Rope 1.3 Magic Box update, which brings a brand new box filled with magic and other “egg-citing” surprises. Existing Cut the Rope users can get the update free of charge, whereas new users can buy the game from the two links below. Finally, before I let Read More
The update also adds three new Magic Box related Game Center achievements, a Magic Box leaderboard, new update info pop-up window (shown only once, only for the users who played the game before), and an easter-egg which can be accessed by pressing the sweet logo that appears in the main menu. The update is free for all those you have the game. Those who still do not have Cut the Rope for iPhone and iPod Touch is available in the iTunes App Store for $0.99 USD, while the Cut the Rope HD for iPad and iPad 2 is available for $1.99 USD. Cut the Rope Wins Best Handheld Game BAFTA
Calendar16 Mon, 21 Mar 2011 13:04:43 UTC +00:00
Congratulations to Om Nom and the entire Cut the Rope Team on winning the first ever BAFTA given to an iOS game! The British Academy of Film and Television offers a select amount of Video Game awards to highlight the best of the video game industry. For the first time ever, an iOS game has won, beating out games on more traditional handheld platforms like the DS and PSP. In addition, Chillingo/Zeptolab, the developers of Cut the Rope, beat out large companies like Sony, Nintendo and Warner Bros. to take home the prize of Best Handheld Game at the award ceremonies on March 16, 2011. Cut the Rope is a physics based puzzle game that has sold more than six million copies worldwide on the iTunes App Store. No stranger to awards, it had already been given the honor of being listed in Apple’s iTunes Hall of Fame as well as Read More
Cut the Rope is the first iPhone game to win a BAFTA!
Calendar16 Sat, 19 Mar 2011 11:00:05 UTC +00:00
Super-popular iPhone title Cut the Rope, developed by Zeptolab and published by Chillingo, became the first iPhone game to ever win BAFTA at the recently held British Academy’s Game Awards. The physics-based puzzler for iOS-powered devices has sold more than six million copies worldwide on the Apple AppStore and continues to make the headlines around the Interwebs. Earlier this month, Cut the Rope also earned recognitions from the Game Developer (Choice Awards for Best Handheld Game) and PocketGamer (Best iPhone Casual/Puzzle Game and Most Innovative iPhone game). Heck, the game got its “unofficial version” on Android called Rope Cut. Commenting on the news, Chillingo’s Chris Byatte said: “Cut the Rope has been nothing short of a phenomenon on the iOS platform and we’re delighted it’s been recognized by the British Academy.” Cut the Rope ($0.99) [iTunes link] Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest Read More
Cut the Rope wins at BAFTAs
Calendar16 Fri, 18 Mar 2011 00:30:00 UTC +00:00
Cut the Rope is still one of my favorite games on the App Store, and apparently the folks at the British Academy of Film and Television agree -- they've honored the game as the Best Handheld Game of 2010. It's actually quite an honor for Chillingo and developer ZeptoLab, as the game beat out presumably much bigger budgeted titles for the Nintendo DS and PSP, including the very big studio title God of War: Ghost of Sparta. It's definitely a nice indicator for the mobile gaming business that iOS and its associated developers have made a huge splash in the industry lately. The BAFTAs are like the British Oscars, only our friends across the pond also honor video games and interactive entertainment. Here are all of the video game nominees and winners. Cut the Rope is the only one I recognize as an iOS-only title, though there are a few cross-platform Read More
Cut the Rope Wins BAFTA Award for Best Handheld Game
Calendar16 Thu, 17 Mar 2011 17:51:53 UTC +00:00
Posted 03/17/2011 at 9:51am | by Andrew Groen The British Academy of Film and Television Arts held its annual video game awards ceremony last night in London. The awards come every year as a way to showcase excellent game design across the industry. They highlight winners in a number of categories, and this was the first year that an iOS game took home the honor of Best Handheld Game. The game in question was Chillingo's extremely popular puzzle game Cut the Rope [iTunes Link]. The game was put up against some extremely stiff competition in the genre, competing against heavy-hitters in the genre. The other nominees were all Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable games: Sonic Colours, Super Scribblenauts, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and Professor Layton and the Lost Future. As if we needed any more confirmation that iOS gaming is becoming just as accepted Read More

Cut the Rope will soon receive a special Valentine’s Box update (version 1.2), featuring 25 new “gorgeous levels” with Valentine-themed artwork and heart-shaped candies. If you’ve been living under a rock, you should know that in Cut the Rope players slice the right ropes to feed the insatiable green creature called Om Nom. It may sound stupid, but it’s actually addictive. Commenting on the new update to the game, ZeptoLab’s CTO Efim Voinov (ZeptoLab is the game developer) said: “This 1.2 update is our gift to you this Valentine’s Day for being the greatest fans out there; we hope players love the new box, levels and features just as much as we enjoyed creating it.” And now it’s video time. 'Burn the Rope' Review – A Pyromaniac's Puzzler
Calendar16 Mon, 27 Dec 2010 11:03:11 UTC +00:00
I know what you're thinking, but despite the name, Big Blue Bubble's newest iOS game Burn the Rope [99¢] has nothing to do with the popular title Cut the Rope [99¢/Lite]. It's actually a completely unique kind of puzzle game that tasks you with burning a design made out of rope by igniting just one point of the picture and guiding the flame, earning a medal based on the percentage of the entire picture that you burn. Various insects and spiders affect how you're able to burn the rope, and the 80 levels contained in the game get increasingly more difficult and complex as you go. There are a couple minor annoyances about Burn the Rope, but the core gameplay is engaging and there's enough content in the game to keep you busy for some time. The basics of Burn the Rope involve touching a single point of the rope design to Read More

Like many iOS games around this time of year, Zepto Lab and Chillingo are readying a holiday themed edition of everybody's favorite feed-a-candy-that-is-swinging-on-a-rope-to-a-tiny-monster game, Cut the Rope. Unlike some games, however, Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift will actually be a standalone game rather than an update to the existing one. Don't go throwing a fit just yet though, as you won't be required to make an additional purchase since Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift will be launching for free. I had a chance to experience the game first hand at the EA Mobile event last week, and it's looking like another great edition in the epic struggle to feed Om Nom. Calendar16 Thu, 25 Nov 2010 22:15:43 UTC +00:00
Precio: 0,79 Read More
Roughly a month ago we reported that Cut the Rope has hit the 1 million downloads mark. 12 days later, the number of paid downloads doubled and now it stands at 3 million! It’s super impressive, though still not “Angry Birds impressive.” Good days are ahead of Chillingo, which is now a part of Electronic Arts, but that’s not something we as gamers care that much. We do, however, care that they’re about to release a free update for Cut the Rope. Version 1.1 will introduce Om Nom fans to the so called Cosmic Box that contains 25 challenging levels. This spaceship-themed box we’ll find you feeding the green monster in an anti-gravity environment that turns physics upside down as Om Nom peers through the box’s portholes to see a planet rotating in the distance. Moreover, Chillingo also promised Retina display graphics, improved scoring accuracy, more expressive Om Nom animations, new Read More

Cut the Rope

I knew there was going to be a day when Angry Birds was knocked off the charts by another ambitious game and it seems Cut The Rope is it. The app, has the same cutsy feel to it and some excellent design. But instead of launching feathery friends headfirst into building, you’ll be solving physics puzzles. Now before you write this off as another boring physics game (is there really such a thing?), take a look at just how addicting this can be. An alien creature has just appeared on your doorstep and is hungry for candy. It’s your job to open his box and get the candies to him. As you cut, float, swing, and drop the sweets into his mouth you will need to collect the stars thrown around the area. The game will challenge you with it’s addicting physics and no-pressure trial-and-error levels. It can really be tough Read More
And the latest best-selling application in Apple’s AppStore is… [drums please]… Angry Birds Halloween. The special Holiday-themed edition of the popular game has been bought by 1 million iOS devices owners in just 6 days! Up until this point, Chillingo’s Cut the Rope held the prime position, reaching the same number of paid downloads within 10 days. iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users continued to purchase the game afterwards and by the time you’re reading this, more than 2 million people have decided to spend their weekend feeding a little monster with candies. Back to the Angry Birds. As you’ve read from our previous post on the Halloween version of the game, it comes with 45 new frightening stages that will definitely keep you occupied for some time. This is especially true if you’re a real addict, looking to score three stars on every single stage. I know we have such Read More

Calendar16 Thu, 28 Oct 2010 20:06:00 UTC +00:00
By – Today Chillingo, who was recently purchased by game publishing giant, Electronic Arts, has announced a huge milestone for their hit game, Cut the Rope. It's sold over two million copies worldwide on the App Store in the three weeks since the game launched. "Cut the Rope continues to break records with leading, international sales," said Chris Byatte, Co-General Manager of Chillingo in a Press Release, "Our new partnership with EA enables us to expand Om Nom's prospects, visibility and reach to make more of an impact than ever." (Editor's Note: Om Nom is the little monster character from Cut the Rope.) The game is the fastest-selling on the App Store to date, it reached 10 million downloads within 10 days of its launch. The game is reasonably priced as well: 99 cents for the iPhone/iPod Touch and $1.99 for the iPad. Links: Related Posts Read More
EA acquista Chillingo per 20 milioni di dollari!
Calendar16 Thu, 21 Oct 2010 09:30:24 UTC +00:00

Chillingo has a new hot title in the AppStore called Cut the Rope. The mobile games publisher is pretty much at the top of many AppStore lists with its wildly popular Angry Birds game. And the crazy news is that their latest title is selling at a faster pace than Angry Birds. With 1 million paid downloads in 10 days, Chillingo claims Cut the Rope is the fastest selling game for iPhone like ever! In the game, it’s your goal to carefully drop a dangling bonbon into a monster’s toothy gob by slicing ropes while avoiding prickly obstacles. It may sound silly, but honestly – every description of Angry Birds I’ve read hasn’t promised such an addictive title. I guess you need to try games like these to appreciate them. And considering Cut the Rope costs only a buck that “giving it a try” shouldn’t come as a problem. AppStore link Read More
by Move over Angry Birds, a new contender has just entered the addictive mobile game market, and it’s pretty awesome. The game is called Cut the Rope. It’s available for $0.99 for the iPhone [iTunes link] and $1.99 for the iPad [iTunes link]. Together, both versions have already sold more than 1 million copies in just 10 days. The game, which has dethroned Angry Birds as the number one paid app in the U.S. App Store, was released just last week. Like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope is published by Chillingo. Although it was produced by a different developer (ZeptoLab), the game shares the same deceptively simple, addictive and replayable style. According to Chillingo, 1 million paid downloads makes Cut the Rope the fastest-selling iOS game to date. I purchased Cut the Rope last night after seeing it as the featured “game of the week” on my iPhone. Sure enough, it’s Read More

[iOS-Game] Cut the Rope (HD)
Calendar16 Wed, 13 Oct 2010 12:06:28 UTC +00:00
Löblich: Von beiden Spielereien existieren kostenfreie Testversionen (iPad / iPhone).

Cut the RopeCut the Rope is a melding of ninja slicing skills, a bit of puzzler fun, and physics game-based game play. TUAW's Daily App: Cut the Rope
Calendar16 Thu, 07 Oct 2010 13:00:00 UTC +00:00
At every one of these gaming shows (it's GDC Online this week, which I'm at for TUAW), there's usually a "game of the show" that emerges. It's something, either on the show floor or demoing behind closed doors, that everyone starts to talk about. The buzz starts at parties and in the hallways, and then it carries over into panels and starts to crop up in those casual discussions about "what you've seen this week." But so far, the game everyone's talking about this week isn't even on display at the show. Epic's Mark Rein even recommended Chillingo's newest title, Cut the Rope, to me. It's a brand new game that's already making a huge splash this week (as of this writing, it was number two on the App Store paid list), and it's all the rage among app developers and journalists here at GDC. The phrase being passed around is Read More
