by Forget Sharpies and highlighters, the new back to school essentials this fall are apps for your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. This school year, free iOS apps can replace your pricey graphing calculator and clunky dictionary. Inexpensive planners will organize your homework, grades and finances. We’ve rounded up the essentials for the season, so you won’t go back to school unprepared. These 15 apps will keep your academic and extracurricular life on track. 1 of 15 Cost: Free Supported devices: iPhone and iPod touch Why you need it: No one likes to waste money on textbooks -- especially after putting your John Hancock on an increasingly fat tuition check. 4 tips (and a hack) to make your iPad work-worthy
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Jun 2011 00:00:47 UTC +00:00
Reading Darrell’s recent post 7 iPad Habits of Highly Effective Remote Workers prompted me to look more closely at how I can really do work on my iPad. I have to admit, I’m still not convinced that the iPad will be my laptop replacement. However, with the help of the Apple wireless keyboard and some other peripherals and apps, it can come close. Here are some tips to make your iPad work-worthy. 1. Make audio calls via VoiP. Audio calls via Skype on the iPad work like a dream. Just plug in the earbuds that you usually use for your iPhone, fire up the Skype app and make your audio calls. There are other VoiP apps that will work on the iPad without charging fees, such as Viber, but they require that the other person also has the same software on her device. You can even use Google Voice on the iPad,  albeit Read More

The iPad can be a handy remote working tool, but only to a point. So far, tablet computers seem to have been more useful as “data consuming” tools than genuine work devices. One stumbling block I’ve found is the inability to easily edit documents that you’ve stored in the cloud. Until now, that is. Soonr is the first cloud file storage service to offer integrated editing for Microsoft Office documents on the iPad. Unlike cobbling together of file storage apps such as Dropbox and SugarSync with editing apps such as QuickOffice and Documents-To-Go, Soonr brings it all together so you can directly edit any files stored in the cloud using a single app. No configuration, no hassle, no cross-app interdependency. It also works offline when you don’t have a Wi-Fi connection and will sync back up when you do. And you can store, share, access, search, edit and sync your files from any tablet Read More

iWork vs Documents to Go — Which one should you use?
Calendar16 Fri, 28 Jan 2011 15:49:10 UTC +00:00
By Chad Garrett, Friday, Jan 28, 2011 | When it comes to document editing and creation on the iPad, two solutions really stand out: Apple’s iWork Suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote) and DataViz’s Documents to Go app. Which is better? Well, I wish the decision was that easy. Both apps (or set of apps in iWork’s case — you can buy each separately) allow you to edit and create documents, spreadsheets and presentations. iWork also has the advantage of using Apple’s iWork format and Office format as well and is beautifully designed. Documents to Go does a stellar job of rendering and editing Microsoft’s Office format. Let’s begin by looking at each app a little more in-depth. I will focus primarily on the differences of how each application handles their word processing since this is the number one reason people would use these apps and, you probably don’t want a mini-novel Read More

Homescreens – Dezember 2010 (iPhone + iPad)
Calendar16 Sat, 11 Dec 2010 10:35:56 UTC +00:00
Außerdem verstecken sich innerhalb der Ordner folgende Apps*: Amazon.de (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Convertbot (1.59 €; App Store-Link), AnalyticsPro (5.49 €; App Store-Link), Delivery Status touch (3.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), Dropbox (kostenlos; universal; App Store-Link), iCabMobile (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Skype (kostenlos; App Store-Link), WeatherPro (2.99 €; App Store-Link), Pastebot (2.99 €; App Store-Link), LogMeIn (23.99 €; universal; App Store-Link), OffMaps (1.59 €; universal; App Store-Link), Kik (kostenlos; App Store-Link), PayPal (kostenlos; App Store-Link), Linkie (0.79 Read More
NaNoWriMo Writing Tools for the iPad
Calendar16 Fri, 29 Oct 2010 23:00:16 UTC +00:00
National Novel Writing Month, or, National Stop Procrastinating and Write Month, is soon upon us. This year marks the first time the iPad is available during the prose-fest. Writing tools are near and dear to my heart, because the time spent researching and writing about said tools is a fantastic way to avoid actually writing my fiction. With that in mind, I’m going to take a look at writing tools I’ve found that are suited for NaNo. I’ve laid down a few criteria. To be considered, an app must easily sync or transfer natively with a cloud service (I’m assuming you’re going to be doing the bulk of your writing at home, and the iPad is the “writing at lunch” option). Since the goal for NaNo is to churn out 50,000 words, the app should have a word count feature, although there are two notable exceptions to this rule that made Read More
Seven essential apps for your iPad
Calendar16 Mon, 04 Oct 2010 19:00:00 UTC +00:00
Like every modern mobile device, the iPad is only as good as the apps you have running on it. Sure, Apple's entry into the tablet market comes packing a decent Web browser, mail client, and photo viewer, but with apps at your side, the iPad can be transformed from an expensive couch-browser into a truly useful tool. So, for those of you who've just bagged yourself a shiny new iPad, or if you're just looking for some decent apps, I've got a few gems to pass your way. iPhotographer: iOS Changes Photo Scouting For The Better
Calendar16 Thu, 30 Sep 2010 16:04:49 UTC +00:00
Scouting out your next photo is already more work than performing a root canal on a hyperactive child. Looking for vantage points, judging the sun, or moon, taking test shots, and so much more go into a good planning session. All this work often leads to lugging backbreaking equipment around just for a simple test shot. iOS has changed the face of test shooting and planning by margins that my back is very thankful for. Notebooks be gone! I have an over abundance of Moleskines full of notes, drawings, doodles, and ideas. These have traveled with me every place I run off to, including the local tea house. The introduction of the iPad has drastically changed my dependence on the tried and true Moleskine and pen. Now, apps like Penultimate allow me to draw out my ideas on my iPad. I can quickly sketch out ideas in a myriad of colors Read More
Just because they are in the process of being acquired by RIM, DataViz doesn’t want to abandon iOS users. As a matter of fact, the company launched the new version of its popular mobile office suite, Documents To Go, for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Version 4.0 brings two important feature upgrades: In addition, Documents To Go 4.0 got some under the hood improvements to enhance the overall speed of the application; Sheet To Go now supports freeze panes and the ability to sort to round out, while Word To Go adds extensive paragraph formatting such as left and right indent, strike out, and a variety of bullet styles. How’s your APPetite?
Calendar16 Wed, 04 Aug 2010 18:17:29 UTC +00:00
I have a confession to make that might put my Fanboy status in jeopardy. I wasn’t part of the iPhone click until the iPhone 3G veiled its beautiful body to us. It’s a humbling revelation that I feel necessary to share. I have only been able to enjoy the iPhone with the App Store available. Having done my share of downloading and reviewing, (72 apps on my iPhone 4 today), I often wonder if I have maximized the potential that the App Store can cultivate. It took me quite a while to break down and purchase paid applications. Probably too long. When I started adding iTunes credit to my account, it was if I was the conductor of entirely different ship. A much nicer ship. I first hit apps which reflected the interests related to my lifestyle. Engadget, ESPN Radio, Echofon, Words with Friends, Tiger Woods, and those similar were the Read More

Documents To Go Premium 3.3 sings along the iPad
Calendar16 Thu, 10 Jun 2010 09:30:23 UTC +00:00
DataViz has released a new version of Documents To Go Premium in the AppStore. The main new thing is… drums please… the iPad support! As expected, the huge screen estate is well used when displaying documents, and the updated application can also sing along iTunes File Sharing for moving files between your iPad and computer. Moreover, inter-application document sharing is enabled, hence now the email app can open supported attachments in Documents To Go. In addition to playing well on Apple’s tablet, Documents To Go Premium 3.3 supports two additional cloud services – Mobile Me iDisk and SugarSync (that’s in addition to Google Docs, Dropbox and Box.net); and is now available in French, Italian, German, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Finally, the update (3.3) is coming to the regular, non-Premium version and should be available shortly (UPDATE: It’s available now). That version, however, doesn’t work with cloud-based services and email attachments and Read More
DataViz has rolled out an update for both the Premium and non-Premium version of their Documents To Go app. The update brings both versions up to 3.3 and adds universal support. In other words — these are now both iPad friendly. Additionally, the Premium version has also added support for SugarSync and the MobileMe iDisk. Also important to note is that both of these apps are listed as being on sale with a 20% savings and that sale will end on June 4th. Finally, for those currently using the non-Premium version, there is an in-app option available to upgrade for $4.99. Read More

Documents To Go Universal Update Released
Calendar16 Tue, 01 Jun 2010 21:45:38 UTC +00:00
By Jeff Scott on June 1st, 2010 Documents To Go Premium updated to support the iPad at full resolution! Documents To Go is a portable office suite that includes viewers and editors for word processing documents, spreadsheets, and presentation files. It offers full Microsoft Office compatibility on the go, and now on the iPad! Dataviz today released an update to their Documents To Go Premium that supports the full resolution of the iPad. The update was released as a Universal update meaning that it works on both the iPhone and iPad — and you only need to buy one copy to use it on both devices. The update also brings MobileMe and SugarSync support to the device allowing you to read and store files on those cloud services. The iPad update also supports syncing documents to the app via iTunes File Sync. But honestly, that’s the least attractive way to get Read More
iPhone OS 4.0: The Web Working Benefits
Calendar16 Mon, 19 Apr 2010 18:32:56 UTC +00:00
iPhone OS 4.0 will be arriving for iPhone owners this summer, and for iPad owners in the fall. The question is, what tangible benefits will it bring to your web working routine, if any? Luckily, I’ve had a chance to put the developer beta of the OS through its paces, so I have an early impression of how it might benefit remote workers. I try to keep all my email routed through one central account, but that doesn’t mean I always necessarily succeed. In fact, I have multiple email accounts — which can become quite a hassle to manage, especially from a mobile platform like the iPhone, which doesn’t offer a unified inbox. Or hasn’t, until now. With iPhone OS 4.0, that changes. You get a unified inbox for all of your email — although you can still separate it out into separate mailboxes if you wish, since many people will Read More

Popular mobile office suite, Documents To Go for iPhone, has been updated recently. The most important change the new version brings is the full support for Excel spreadsheets, including support for XML-based Excel 2007 files. And by full support, DataViz (folks behind the software) means creation and editing of Excel files, not just viewing, like that was the case in the previous release. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. DataViz Turns iPhones Into Excel Number-Crunchers
Calendar16 Mon, 05 Oct 2009 15:45:59 UTC +00:00
Need to edit spreadsheets on your iPhone? DataViz has added that ability to its newest version of Documents To Go for iPhone. Prior to this release, the productivity application only offered editing of Microsoft Word documents, but now Excel has been added to the editing mix. Data from editable cells appears at the top of the iPhone screen, above the spreadsheet. Aside from basic edits, DataViz also added support for 111 formulas, password protection, number and cell formatting, and multiple worksheets. Documents To Go for iPhone is $9.99 in the iTunes store, but there’s a $14.99 version as well. For an extra $5, DataViz offers support for Microsoft Exchange attachments — both sending and receiving supported documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Documents To Go was voted as our AppAwards “Best Document Creation App” back in July, and at that time it certainly was one of if not the best of its kind for the iPhone and iPod touch.  However, over the last couple of months, Quickoffice had gained some momentum by offering the ability to create, open, and edit Microsoft Excel spreadsheet files.  Dataviz finally decided enough was enough and pushed an update to Documents To Go out that adds these same abilities to their document creation app in an attempt to reclaim its throne. Documents To Go already featured the ability to create, edit, and view Microsoft Word files, and view Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, and Apple iWork files.  It even allowed you to keep your files in sync with a free companion application that works on both Macs and PCs via Wi-Fi.  The biggest piece of the puzzle left out, Read More

Why Small Business Owners Need a Mac
Calendar16 Wed, 19 Aug 2009 20:00:14 UTC +00:00
Small business owners have it hard, especially in the current world economic climate. They have lots to do, not enough resources, staff, and time to get it done. For many small business owners, computers are only one more thing to worry about. It doesn’t have to be that way. For the past few months, I’ve been in the process of moving from one side of the country to the other. Now that my family and I are settling into our new location, I thought I would share some stories of small business owner encounters I’ve had during my travels. From the end of April to the middle of July, I crossed the country twice by car, and three times flying. Each time, I was reminded of why a Mac is a great small business machine. During my travels, I met people from all over. Being a tech guy, I would immediately Read More

Reviews

Really bad product (from a long time user)
Jonnyth 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I hate writing bad reviews especially for products lines that I have used for a very, very long time. I used DocumentsToGo on my very first pocket pc and on all of my palms. Sadly, this product is the poorest showing that DataViz has ever made for a product launch. I did understand that Excel spreadsheet editing is in the works (although this has been a feature included in their other platforms at launch), but their competition has this feature already. The missing email feature is unfortunate, especially given that their competing apps have this functionality as well. What is unforgivable, however, are the buggy interfaces. Among these are the inability to exit edit mode when attempting to delete documents, the difficulty selecting text for clipboard (the document jumps all over the screen so you have to be a skilled microsurgeon...), and the severe typing lagtime in word.
Poor even as a synchronization application
bookrats 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I understand the restrictions of this initial version of Documents to Go: it's a document synchronizer with the ability to edit Word documents on the iPhone.
No email support?
larrybeo 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Where is the email button within the program? Why must you have an Exchange Account for this to work? Why will it not work with my native gmail application that is already in my iPhone? Why can we not print directly from the device? HP offers an app to print pictures wirelessly from iPhone, Dataviz couldn't figure it out? Also, being able to upload files from this docs2go folder from another application like Safari is a neccesity. The way this app is now it is rather worthless, and does not function as a stand alone app at all- all files must be synced to your PC before you can do anything with them. At first I was excited this was only $5, but now I see why. It's not worth a penny more. At least incorporate email for non- Microsoft Exchange users?
Useless without email
vdoylefreund 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
The app is great in itself, but a little useless without email. I can live without editing attatchments, but I'm a student and when I need to finish up a paper on the fly I will also need to email it to the person its supposed to get to. It's a great app and I'll change my review once they figure out a way to integrate non-exchange email support.
Worthless

I'm amazed that a well known company like Dataviz would release an app that is half-baked. No email of docs and more important, you can not edit Excel. What were they thinking. If you need these functions, then get Quickoffice.
No excel editig or email support?
JHawkFan123 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been waiting for this app since last year. I've been checking the app store everyday since May. It finally arrives and they don't include excel editing or email support? This is ridiculous! Basically, it's a note taking app only right now. I'm very disappointed. D2G was so good on my old Treo. I've been holding out on buying Quickoffice, and now I'm mad at myself for waiting. Dataviz released an incomplete app. I'll update my review when I have the ability to create and edit excel files (and have the ability to email files).
False advertising!
Mike909 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Picture shows email button yet this version won't email. What's the point?
Not worth the wait...
Dkraynik 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have waited since December when I switched from my Palm to the iPhone. It's a good start but the main thing I was lookin for was Excel editing which this app does not have. Dataviz has fallen short on this app. I hope they plan an update rather quickly. There is not much use for this version except to type word doc. Not happy with the purchase.
Keyboard lag
MadMinstrel 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
The interface is nice and smooth, but this app has a lot of keyboard lag. It's so bad it's usually 2 to 3 letters behind what I'm typing. This is acceptable in games, where all you need is to type your name, but definitely not in a word processor. Also, (I may just be blind here) there doesn't seem to be a font size or paragraph style option. Come now. I remember changing font sizes on my 33Mhz Palm m505. As is, you can't even make a header. 2 Stars. The app looks polished enough and the font size thing isn't a dealbreaker, but what's the point if the software keyboard is basically unusable?
Waited so long and I am very dissapointed
Black Jetta 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Please dataviz developers take note of this bugs... I tryed finding a way to send this issues directly to you, but to my surpirse ... YOU DONT RECEIVE EMAILS.
Disappointing
yeyito1971 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Pretty disappointing !! Makes no sense to have excel documents, and not be able to edit them. I was expecting something similar to the version that runs with the TREO, at least !! After using it for 5 minutes, I felt that my money was wasted (even its cost of $5 bucks).
Pretty good and good initial pricing
Markosb 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Although it only has word editing it is about the same as quickoffice it does have more features like commenting and searching documents it fails to show pictures. I have my logo is many of my documents and images for articles I write don't show up and this is the same with quickoffice. It's kind of annoying. In quickoffice when I open the docx to previewit the images show but not when I open to edit. I do hope you get on the os 3.0 copy paste and allow copying parts of a spreadsheet into a word document and maybe mail merge using the contact list and copy paste images. For the price get it, it had better features than quickoffice. I hope scrolling excel spreadsheets is smoother than quickoffice.
Sync function does not work!!!
bluesun5634 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Desktop sync application does not work! At least not on a mac. Have brand new laptop, updated software, and desktop sync application crashes repeatedly and will not open. No point in having this software if you can't sync your documents to your phone
Good, but ...
ThomyNC 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Frankly, we all know the great things d2g can do -- on other platforms -- but the only argument for the iPhone version is its introductory price. Beyond that there isn't much to work with yet. Excel, PowerPoint and Acrobat are simply displayed using the iPhone's builtin viewers, and Word ... It's a start, and certainly not what I was expecting from Dataviz. First time I actually miss my Palm.
How to obtain the desktop application
BCAMan 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Register on the Iphone. You will get an e mail with your registration number. Go to Dataviz.com and click on Downloads. Then you want Redownload Software. Plug in your last name and registration number where indicated and it will take you to the software. BCA
not worth the wait
lcp310 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
After waiting for several months for this app to come out, I eagerly bought it. Much to my surprise, there is no way to e-mail the document you edit or create. Who would want to go to the trouble to create, or even edit a document on the iphone if you can't e-mail it?? The only way to e-mail the new document you created is to synch it back to the computer, and then e-mail it from your computer. This app is useless without the capability of e-mail. Unless there is an update very soon, I will get rid of this app and try to find something else.
Copy and Paste in OS 3.0 - does it support it?
Benita1 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
a) Does it support copy'n'paste in OS 3.0 and sharing a clipboard with other apps? I am trying to do it and it seems not working. :((
Solid app
bensm 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have been anticipating the approval of this app...quick setup and simple sync. Note that screenshots above show an e-mail link (which I believe is a screen capture from the Exchange $9.99 version.) This version allows sync only via the desktop client, which is quite simple to do. On the downside, would be nice to create docs and directly email them...
Unclear
talk-to-myself 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
i bought the 4.99 version. but i can't use it. the info said the app was compatible with the itouch & i cant get it to download on mine. i dont know if this is because i have the 1st generation itouch but the info needs to be a little more clear so we dont end up buying things we cant use
So Close to Perfect! (iPod Touch 1st gen)
rock38climb 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great app, hopefully the next version will be even better (although there is very little room to improve). Works flawlessly with a few exceptions: 1. No way to exit the edit mode for deleting files. 2. Slow to load documents. 3. Limited support for objects embedded in Word documents. ***So much more useful with a jailbroken device. This + iFile (free in Cydia) act like a real desktop computer.
Could be a GREAT app!?!
mark-d 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I used DTG in multiple versions on the various Palm phone I had and loved it! I just bought the DTG for iPhone, and am wondering why you wouldn't provide an option for syncing files with MobileMe, or least having the desktop app sync with MobileMe? I have all of the files already on my iPhone and want to be able to sync with that and not duplicate everything. Will that be an option at some point? Until it is, the product is almost worthless!
Great! But only Word editing, no iWork support
Ryan Hart 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great application for editing and creating Word documents, but I don't use Microsoft Word on the desktop. I want iWork's .pages files to be viewable and editable. After that: 5 stars.
A Working Graphic Novelist Says, "Get It."
Lea Franco 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Any Palm user can tell you that Docs2 Go is the only way to create and edit Word documents on a mobile device, especially when you're not on a network. I wrote an entire graphic novel, Rumble Girls:SWT on a Palm Tungsten, and many rewrites of the Oh! My Goddess manga on a Zire, both times with Docs2Go. I wrote unwired, and synced docs when I returned to my desktop. The ability to still use D2G unwired is a boon for iPod Touch users like myself. I'm glad D2G is out to help me finish scripting my fifth graphic novel, Rumble Girls:RLO, on my iPod Touch. The last Palm version of D2G I bought cost about $25., so snap this app up while you can. It's the best $4.99 you'll invest in your work this year.
Fantastic!! Well worth the wait! Damn near perfect!

Ok first off I've got to start by asking DataViz what the hell are you thinking? 4 dollars? This is the nicest version of Docs I have used on any platform. Don't get me wrong I love it on my BB which also costs a great deal more than on this platform by the way (worth every penny though I might add) Anybody who is reading this and is thinking you don't really have too big of a need for software like this well all I have to say is BUY it anyways, come on 4 bucks is nothing and you will kick yourself later when you realize you need this and who knows DataViz might come back to planet earth and realize what they're charging for this and raise the price back up to where it really probably should have been in the first place. Which is much higher than what it is now. This piece of software is almost an essential application for a mobile phone and it is not a fluke that it comes standard on quite a few phones. Again don't even think about the price just buy it. DataViz went above and beyond what was expected and has gone far far above what was required for a program such as this. I cannot give it enough praise, sure there is one or two little things that bug me but they are just personal preferences really and who knows another person who uses this program may love those features which I do not. That is about all the negative I can say about this software. This may not be very popular thing to say but I very much appreciate them not releasing this project earlier just to get it out quick. It is refreshing when the devolopers are allowed to really pound on the code and get it perfect before launched. But I guess time is money otherwise we would still all be programming in assembler. Anyways I really do appreciate you guys getting it done so well before you released public. This program is absolutely fantastic, their cut copy paste implementation is second to none I just absolutely love it and it works so well. It feels very natural and is very close to the way I've been using cut copy paste on the phone with clippy's implementation. The desktop sync is fantastic and couldn't really ask for a better setup given the limitations for sync set by apple at the moment. I hope after 3.0 gets released public and now having access at the dock connector they will be able to implement a sync over the wires option too. Alright well I'm out of ideas to keep on writing here and I think you have probably realized I completely recommend this software and I think it is a must have. At only 4 dollars it is a no brainer, go check out the other platforms they have written this app on and compare the price to the iPhone. They are not even in the same ballpark we are very lucky they're selling for so cheap. If for nothing else you will be supporting further development on this platform and also supporting one of the best software companies out there.
Superb
ayvegh 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
If you have ever used Documents to Go on any other platform, then this is another job well done by DataViz. I will expect real OS 3.0 copy and paste, but this is great. Plus, you can't beat the intro price.
What problems? (updated)
pianerX 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
This is what I have been waiting for, a solid app that I can meaningfully edit Word documents on. I don't understand all the complaints. Typing is fine. I had no problems setting up the sync with D2G desktop. Though I downloaded the Mac version, it syncs my office docs through Windows in Parallels. True, Excel files can only be viewed, but updates are coming, no? So, what is the problem? This is a great app and no doubt will only get better.
Almost there

What this app is like?
Agree totally w/Now we're cook'n
Randy1484 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
This is on its way to being the greatest app ever. The only thing I could possibly add is the ability to do a print preview. If I create and send a document from my phone, it would be nice to be able to see what is being viewed by the receiver. Sometimes the presentation is critical. GREAT update!
No page breaks or pagination.
Skorps 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
I bought this app on 7/8/09 to use for editing large word documents containing novels and stories. I've now found that it does not support page breaks or the formatted numbering, thus making it virtually useless for my purposes. Please add this feature (which seems to be on your other versions for other platforms). Also helpful would be a way to quickly scroll to a specific page (one page breaks and numbering are implemented). For now, this will be a novelty app for me until I can use it to its full potential.
Finally!
Angelyon 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I was this close to buying QO -> . <- when I finally read the tweet that Apple FINALLY released Docs To Go for iPhone. No, not really! I have been a Docs To Go user since my days with a Palm V. I'm excited to see it here for iPhone even if at first release it only does Word Docs. As an aspiring writer, it was getting tedious to write things in a note. I'm going to enjoy this experience and I encourage everyone to give it a try. Thank God I waited it out. Now that's finally out I look forward to the regular updates I have always experienced with Dataviz Inc. Great company with great products! Documents To Go is the only way to go! Did I mention how excited I am now to finally have the ability to write Word Docs on my iPhone!!!! Eeeek! I'm so geeked out!
Finally able to synchronize MS Office, PDF, JPEG, etc between my MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS
Gas Man 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
First, let me share my background. I am a physician, and have used the MS Office software routinely since 1996. Since 2001, I have depended on carrying my MS Office files with me in 3 different HP iPaq Pocket PCs running different versions of Windows Mobile. I also like to have with me at all times medical diagrams that I have “cut and pasted” and scanned throughout my career. I used these files not only for my own reference, but for teaching purposes, too.
Even more powerful since update, still a few things missing
pgk2008 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Since the V1.1 update this is a pretty full featured Word app. Ability to send by email is great. I realize this will never be as advanced as the desktop version of Word, but the addition of a few (final?) features would make this much more useful:
False claims
RA RED 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
It's a simple application that is capable creating, editing simple documents. It says on the listing you cab create tables but it's a false claim. You can not copy any kind of image or table. You can't create table. You can't even change the font size. Overall it's more like a notepad. Don't expect anything more than that.
A Necessity For all
Onthegopro 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
This update has brought much joy! Email support for all. Copy and paste features. It is an awesome app for an outstanding price. Should be on every iphone and ipod touch!
Needs a couple major improvements to beat Quickoffice
capcrime 3.0 stars Version: 1.2
Documents To Go has the best user interface for working with Word documents. For example, Quickoffice has a good interface, too, except when you try editing a document in landscape mode, at which point the editing toolbar is inaccessible.
Latest update could not save this crap
RA RED 1.0 stars Version: 1.2
It's a simple application that is capable of creating, editing simple documents. It says on the listing you can create tables but it's a false claim. You can not copy any kind of image or table. You can't create table. Now after update you can change Font size. The worst part is you can not access email attachment. You can't even access iDisk. I usually keep all the important doc in iDisk and also email inbox. But D2Go is useless for me it neither can access iDisk nor email attachment. If it can access iDisk and email attachment , I will prefer it over Quickword untill then it's nothing but a crap. It says you can edit document, when I can't access the doc how the hell will I edit it? Who wants to sync DToGo desctop version all the time. At the moment this app is good but practically useless and worthless. QuickWod at same price can do the both shy would anybody go for this useless half baked app. Overall it's more like a notepad. Don't expect anything more than that. And don't go by positive reviews, that are written by either developers team or people who have very limited requirements. For me and many others, if you can't access email attachment and Idisk then the app is totally worthless.
Warning before you buy!!
Cottage Homestead 2.0 stars Version: 2.0
Be sure you have wi-fi set up on whatever computer you want to transfer docs from or you can't. You also have to download software to your desktop. So if you're company doesn't allow you to do this or they don't have wi-fi, you can't transfer docs. You can download the software at home, but how many households have wi-fi networks set up. It doesn't work with USB cable. I can't really use this app as I intended until we do. I was excited-now disappointed that these requirements weren't made clear prior to purchase.
Does the job pretty well
ERCWST 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I had no problems syncing between my iPhone, notebook, and desktop. Of course, doing so requires some effort but it is rather easy to do. Documents show up crisp and clear in both portrait and landscape. Creating Word documents is easy, but obviously typing more than 150 words is really not practical. Definitely more suited to editing documents than creating them. Overall, a nifty little piece of software to keep you from having to unload notebook to edit something. Unfortunately, syncing can only be done over wifi. I don't think Apple allows any program to sync over USB. Looking forward to the Excel upgrade.
Documents to Go
xdracco 5.0 stars Version: 2.0
I have been using this since it debuted in the AppStore. It's always functioned quite well. Version 2.0 introduces excel support. Great app for the price. I recommend this app to anybody needing a mobile doc/xls editor. As an added bonus, it includes a PDF reader...
