If you look under your seats, you'll find a bevy of free iPhone apps. That's right ... you get an app, you get an app, everybody gets an app (or 16)! We've mentioned Chilli X a few times, and I've developed a fondness for their collection of sleek, simple iPhone apps with great-looking interfaces. And now it's their first birthday, and they're giving out presents: this weekend only (starting right now), you can grab any (or all) of Chilli X's iPhone apps for FREE. There are plenty to choose from; 16 apps in the App Store and one just submitted for approval today. We've mentioned Done [iTunes link], MyCal [iTunes link] and Playlist Alarm Clock [iTunes link], but much has happened since then. What follows is a roundup of some of the latest apps, but you can find them all by searching for "Chilli X" in the App Store. First up: Read More

Reviews

Would be great with 2 features, without them, not worth money
Paid User 2 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
The most important feature (that I know Chill X could implement today) is to add a way to disable the sound effects. I am embarassed to use the application at work.
Perfect! Simple! EFFECTIVE!
RomeApart 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This has got to be the quickest I have ever entered tasks! Easy to use interface, nearly no learning curve! Plus, it is really nice looking (I'm a minimalist). I only have three suggestions, however, even if not implimented, I'm ok with it: 1. It's probably more Apple's limits, but I just wish we could sync this with OSX's mail app to-do's. Please Apple, let devs sync to-dos's with leopards mail app!!! 2. A badge indicator would be nice. The wall paper is a much more effective tool, due to it's detail, but a badge is still nice to have. 3. Is a way to automatically delete the last "wallpaper" when making a new screenshot? I did a test first on the built in help list, then entered a few tasks of my own and did another screengrab. When I went back to my photos, both were there. I think it would be worth looking into, seeing how much most people will be needing to update their lists as items are checked off. If you were to include these wishes, I think this app is worth a little more than $0.99! I really hope you consider these suggestions. I want to finally bring my task manager search to an end. Great job guys!
Great start, needs a few enhancements
QuantumKitten 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
The application achieves its primary goal as a to-do list, with categorization, prioritization, and a clean and simple interface.
Perfect BUT!!!
gabecode 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
What about the badge! I like my really nice wallpapers, so I don't want it reminding me there. A simple badge would be perfect and make me LOVE this app. Add a badge!
Not worth 99 cents
AJ & KJ 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
Not any different then the free ones except it does not list number of tasks over the icon.
Best Simple TO DO List of them all!!!
OMTH127 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been looking for a simple, colorful, easy to use To Do List, and this is it!! Thank you!! The idea of capturing my top to dos as a wallpaper is brilliant. As a ad/hd mom who procratinates more and more, I can't look past my list when I turn on my iphone. The sounds are cute!! My only wish is to have more colors added because I have many lists I'd like to make each with it's own color. This is a bargain at $.99. Yeah!!!!!
save the bug ...
KeepTheAppWorking 1.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
this product isn't worth a bug.. - no subcategories, no sync, no real benefit compared to other free products.. look around and you'll find a much better free product. ... I wish people would offer 'try& buy' versions .. I want to test a product before I purchase it. The 'bug here and their' is starting to add-up.
good ideas
Swim4life9 3.0 stars Version: 1.3
has some very nice ideas, but poor implemation, the wallpaper needs to up date automaticly and there needs to be a way to turn the sound off
FAST, EASY & FUN
Digital Dude1 4.0 stars Version: 1.3
Review of Version: 1.3
Done is great
shellieuno 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love this app. Simple and to the point with a great interface. I was using one of the "stickies" type applications for the wallpaper features, but this is so much better and the look is perfect for my iTouch. Yes, could use some enhancements (due dates), but still a great app. Thanks guys!
Useful at-a-glance task app
AppNinja 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Will be even more so once Apple provides the hooks where this pulls your tasks from your ical/iphone calendars. Very nice interface. Great job guys!
Simplicity at its best
shimuzu 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Love this app! Have used many but this is perfect for what I need. Quick and easy and no fuss. I waste no time with smaller details so get much more done! Please keep this app simple! Let complex people who complain go somewhere else for complex apps. This is a real time saver.
Rating: ****** SIX STARS! Finally a To-Do list "Done" right!* disclaimer follows:
mazurbrain 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
*Now if you have the capacity, which I don't, to get all wizard like with some heavy GTD action like Omnifocus, then props to you. But I'm of the ilk who gets more excited about my todo list apps and the pretty colors and base ten number system then someone who is seriously going to accomplish any one of the tasks I've tagged, sent to the clouds, and synced every 2.0 way since Sunday. So when I read on TUAW that there was a new marshal in town, (more like a deputy,) I hopped right on over to Chill X's blog to see if I had a new iphone gem that I could get excited about, preferrably an app sans the flatulence. Well, 'Done' is it! 12 minutes after it dropped into the app store I snagged that puppy up. Almost emailed the developers to let them know their baby had arrived, but wait, I said to myself, this is a task for 'Done!' So I let 'Done' know that it needed to let me know that my first task was to email its' parents the good news. Well it worked! I've accomplished more today than in the last thirty years! Good job! Can't wait for more numbers with periods after them and then more numbers. Mark Mazur
Just okay.
StupendousMan 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Pretty but extremely basic. Very limited functionality. I simply don't understand the 4 and 5 star reviews I see here - IMO they can't be justified. Done is basic at best.
Disappointing
PhilFlorida 1.0 stars Version: 1.3
Disappointing. The idea of having the list displayed as wallpaper is good but the process of saving it to that is a pain in the butt. Also, it is not interactive and does not update automatically. With work, it could be a great program but has a long way to go. As yet, I haven't found a single 'To Do' program that is truly functional. Is there anyone out there?
Slow and Lacking
Zyber71 1.0 stars Version: 1.3
I bought this app for the feature that will save a pic which you can then set as a wall paper. Huge mistake. The picture saving process is ***SLOW*** I repeat ***SLOW*** you could pour a a quart of mollasses @ a 10 degree angle and have it completely empty by the time a picture acctually finished saving. Now I'm exaggeration a little but it takes @least 1.5mins, prob closer to 2.5. It's has no neat visiual affects. I'd also like to see a background wall paper set-able instead of just a black background. Overall I can't recommend this app, don't buy it, not worth the $0.99. For the extra $ you should really get Things. Things is worth the $10
Ok but not great
JimAtVerizon 3.0 stars Version: 1.3
This app is a little (not a lot) cooler than other TODO apps, but get real. Add a button to remove checked items instead of rotating. The rotation stuff is more of a game thing. For saving to pic folder, your button saves everything, even the HELP items. I had to delete the help list to make it work. You need to add a button to each list screen if you want to show this as a benefit. It is easier and faster(but not as pretty) to just hold both the home bottom and off/on button to copy the screen to pic file. To make this a cool feature, figure out a way to capture a single list and AUTOMATICALLY add it as wallpaper and have the wall paper update each time the list changes. That in itself would make this a five star list. There also needs to be some secondary sorting, eg. within a list sort by priority and then alpha. In the ALL list, sort by priority, then by list, then alpha. Five priorities would allow user to have a little more control over sorting. I'm look forward to seeing if you can make this a great app or if you're just looking for a quick buck and leave it as is. Please, add mort priority numbers, at least 5.
Does it's job
ltcjcw 4.0 stars Version: 1.3
Clean, straightforward, intuitive.
Great app, does just what it says
CruzDude 4.0 stars Version: 1.3
I like the color coded categories in List, allows easier separating. Simple, to-the-point app well worth the price. Started using right away and now it is one of the few I use every day and multiple times a day.
Simplicity defined
Nubulin 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
Done is a great to do list. Quick and easy to use. It replaces my notepad with 4-6 categories of to do lists (work, personal, groceries, etc). No due dates, no b.s., just a simple list. You can view each category or all in one. I have tried a ton of different lists, and most need due dates and other usless "tags" that ultimately make them to cumbersome to use on a daily basis due to the number of screens you need to wade through. Done is not without a couple bugs. It crashed a few times. I would also like to see the ability to re-arrange the order of items with the same priority (1,2,3), right now all 1's are in the order entered. Otherwise this is the best to do list I have found so far. Great job Chilli X!
needs reminder!
hemad! 4.0 stars Version: 1.3
I have to agree with most people reviewing this app. this is close to my favorite to do list app. great design, does what it says very easily and effectivly, but a reminder feature with tone alert is a necessity! please update with a reminder and it gets five stars plus I'll strongarm everyone I know with a iPhone or touch to purchase this!
Getting closer...
Aprilnicole99 3.0 stars Version: 1.3
Still haven't found the perfect "to do" app for the right price but this is getting closer. Here are some suggestions to FINALLY create the perfect task app. 1. Add normal sort/delete feature in addition to the shake and rotate (cute features but annoying for daily use). 2. Please add a due date feature and ability to sort by priority then due date. 3. More user friendly or settings option to customize to ur liking.
Just right!!!
Crisco81 5.0 stars Version: 1.3
All I wanted from this app was a homescreen badge. Now the update has it! Great update! Badge can be set for only top priority or all items. Greatness.
The only one I use now.
Flipped 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
2.12.09 The simplicity of this app can be deceiving. It's so easy and well designed that it might feel like you're getting less. Less is more in this case. I've been using Omnifocus & Ultralist before stumbling on DONE and after a slow start getting into it I use it exclusively. I'm finding this app doesn't feel heavy to open like the others do to me if that makes any sense. This fits almost perfectly into what I need. The only requests I have are 1. Have each item in the main list have a small number badge for how many things are left in the list. 2. Notes that fit nicely under a list item (see UltraList app for a great implementation). 3. A way to move the order of items around with a finger gesture from within a list (like on the Main page of lists).
Love It!
LilJo90210 4.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Love this app!!! However, instead of taking a snapshot of the most important things on all of my lists, I would like to be able to select a certain list as my wallpaper. Other than that, it is amazing for a chronic list maker, such as myself!!
Just right!!!...again
Crisco81 5.0 stars Version: 1.4
Great update! The app still has the exact same simplicity I like with the added option of a due date and notes that doesn't get in the way at all if I don't want to use this. This is still the best to do app for me. Simple. Looks good. And just the right functions. The homescreen badge is cool.
Basic checklist but good for the price.
machead36 3.0 stars Version: 1.4
Don't expect a full blown GTD app but for $1 it's not too bad. If you just need to keep track of items without much fanfare, Done is decent.
So far
Dave is Awesome! 4.0 stars Version: 1.4
Nice to do list app. Would be cool if the icon desplayed only things past do and do today.
Perfect! Simple! EFFECTIVE!
RomeApart 5.0 stars Version: 1.4
This has got to be the quickest I have ever entered tasks! Easy to use interface, nearly no learning curve! Plus, it is really nice looking (I'm a minimalist). (update) This app keeps getting better! The developers are amazingly open to ideas and suggestions. Make sure to swing by thief blog page because they really are great at communication too! I only have three suggestions, however, even if not implimented, I'm ok with it: 1. It's probably more Apple's limits, but I just wish we could sync this with OSX's mail app to-do's. Please Apple, let devs sync to-dos's with leopards mail app!!! 2. A badge indicator [DONE!] 3.
Great app. Great potential
Grizz1978 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
This could easily be a 5 star app with a few tweaks. I love the wallpaper feature, though my main gripe is that I can't choose my priority list by category. For example, when I'm at work, I only want to see my work priorities. When at school, school priorities, and so on...
So Simple
paiserton 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
This is a great To Do app. Simple, straightforward, easy to use. Like others have said, sound settings would be nice.
Excellent
rlherman 5.0 stars Version: 1.6
Finally - I bet I've downloaded a dozen ToDo lists - and I love this one. Thank YOU!
Perfect, simple
Mr sd 5.0 stars Version: 1.6
This app is great. I keep lists, in categories, with priority and this is the best of all other attempts on the store. I also use it as a storage point for movie and music recomendations from friends (reminders). Looks great, simple to use . (I hope they don't add any features)
Done isn't quite Done?
Gentleman_Songster 4.0 stars Version: 1.7
I like this app a LOT. I've downloaded several to-do lists, and this is the only one that kind of works for me, because its list can be used as the iPhone's Wallpaper, so you see it every time you pick up the iPhone. Very effective in that respect. What ISN'T done, to me, is that in order to make it show up as Wallpaper, I have to first save the list as Wallpaper with the bottom button, THEN go to "Camera Roll" and SELECT the new list as Wallpaper. Only then will the screen be updated. This builds up "photos" in my Camera Roll very quickly, every time I update the list. I'd give this thing a "5 star" rating if this process could be automated, and old "Wallpaper" lists automatically discarded.
You can stop looking. You're Done.
jkevinwolfe 5.0 stars Version: 1.7
This app looks elegant and functions like Apple designed it. Entry is simple and the shake-to-sort feature rocks. It really works well for minimalist and maximalist needs.
Very Nice App
HairyCarrie! 4.0 stars Version: 1.7
Used Things for about a month and was really bothered that I couldn't define the names of the categories, so went looking for a better task app. Found it in Done! Very simple to use and not overly burdensome in it's use. Not too concerned about the wallpaper function. I already take a screenshot for the list view of my calendar (press the home button & power button at the same time). This is very easy to use and for .99 cents it's an amazing deal!
