We all saw some sort of legal drama incoming, right? The creator of Dragon Shout [Free], a brilliant map app for Bethesda's radical open world RPG The Elder Scrolls 5: Sykrim, has received a copyright infringement notice from ZeniMax Media. In an e-mail to us, Blalock says that Apple isn't making him remove the app, as "ZeniMax didn't specify what the app is specifically violating." Blalock hasn't received a C&D yet and notes that he's e-mailed ZeniMax several times to try to clarify what the app is violating. "I did my best to ensure the app was not violating anything," creator Blalock tells TouchArcade. "I looked up US trademarks and copyrights for 'Dragon Shout' and at the time there wasn't any. I had the map hand drawn. I intentionally didn't use any graphics or wording that would possibly be owned by Bethesda. So, I'm still not sure what they say the Read More
Three new apps support console games from iOS
Calendar16 Fri, 20 Jan 2012 14:00:00 UTC +00:00
As if there aren't enough apps that supplement or promote console games, here are three more that have appeared recently. First up is Dragon Shout (free), the Skyrim-mapping app that was released a few weeks ago. It's quite handy, and players can use it to find almost anything in the vast and wonderful world of Skyrim. By the way, if you're a real Skyrim fan, check out our list of 5 apps for Skyrim. Harmonix has released Dance Central 2 Dance Cam (free), which works with Dance Central for Kinect to record players dancing in real life, and then turn that clip into a music video. It's not a port of Dance Central, but a fun bit of promotion. It comes with seven song clips you can dance to, if you don't have the full game around. Finally and as promised, Activision has released official apps for the Call of Duty Read More

MacBook Air A week after I replaced my MacBook Pro (which met an untimely demise) with a MacBook Air, I couldn’t be happier. As I pointed out in my piece outlining the incident, it is fast, and has more than enough power to do what I do for a living (design). I swear it rivals a pro machine, and has the added benefit of a lightweight design, which after Read More

At the top, we dive into why Eli is in Finland and then discuss Dragon Shout and Brad's latest soul-sucking strategy game, Rebuild. Later, we answer some of your user questions, and drop our takes on news-y topics like OnLive's app and using the Siri's tech in games. 5 iOS Apps for Skyrim
Calendar16 Fri, 09 Dec 2011 20:30:00 UTC +00:00
Skyrim is an action, role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios that's filled with magic, potions, and dragon shouts. The game follows the main character's quest to defeat Alduin and the other dragons that returned to Skyrim. It's the fifth installment in the Elder Scroll series and one of the best so far. If you're a Skyrim fan, here are five apps that'll improve your alchemy skills, level up your character and help you find all the powerful weapons you'll need to slay some dragons (as well as Storm Cloaks or Imperials, depending on how you view the war). All prices are USD. Dragon Shout is a simple Skyrim map application. It launches with a blank map and you get to fill it in as you travel and complete quests. You need a free account if you want to add markers, and you can sign up for one within the app. Read More
Dragon Shout: A Great 'Skyrim' Map App
Calendar16 Thu, 08 Dec 2011 16:01:56 UTC +00:00
Dragon Shout [Free] has cleared the certification hurdle and it's available now at the low, low price of $0. What it does, it does well, and it proves a point. Games as deep as Skyrim should be embracing mobile companion apps across the board. Dragon Shout is an app that not only makes Skyrim better, but down the road, it might add an entirely new layer to the experience: social. We wondered before why Bethesda or a member of its family didn't produce a Skyrim map app like this from the get-go. Later, we discovered that Prima has a one on the way. We're unsure of what it'll contain,  so we'll hold off on speculation. But this is a good sign ... and also kind of a bad one since Dragon Shout isn't official and all. Who cares if Bethesda made Dragon Shout or not? Hopefully, Bethesda won't. One of the more Read More

A good start

I've been waiting for this app to come out, awesome! The map itself is beautifully done. Perhaps I may suggest a few things:- Make the Tutorial/Login/Register the first thing you see upon opening the app for the first time. I think this will help put people on the right track from the get-go. - When you tap on a placed marker, make a bubble appear with the name only and then an arrow that allows to view more info (a la Maps). This way, it's a bit easier navigating a slew of points-of-interest.These are only suggestions; otherwise a great start to a handy app! And let's all thank you for making it free.
Fantastically simple and beautiful

I just got this app but I'm already addicted. Don't play Skyrim without it; already seeing for myself the huge potential this app has.
My newest best friend

This will just sit and stay open now while I roam Skyrim. I love that it's not prefilled like the other map app for iOS, really letting me fill out things for myself and complement my gaming experience. Never again will I have to wonder where that ore deposit was, or where found that random shipwreck, or where that random Dwemer altar was. Plus, I can add notes reminding me which home I left that stash of gems in.Thanks for this awesome and free app!
Awesome

I first saw this app on FB saying its coming out soon so I did some research and found that it could help me a lot in the game. I'm totally loving it on my iPhone 4 and I'm gonna use it on my iPad 2 so I can mark prices as I go this is a must own for any serious skyrim player or just the average player looking to gain a little edge I hope that people put good info on here so others can benefit from it. All in all I find this a great addition to my app library can't wait for some social chatting and messaging updates!!!! 5 stars all day long great job!
No tap to toggle?!
Ragefast 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I saw in the video you posted along with a tweet that there would be a tap to toggle map view button. It is not where your video shows? Or has this feature been implemented yet I must slay dragons!
GREAT APP
