Our good friends at Engadget have posted an update to their iOS app. The new version introduces a landscape viewing mode for all of the included content and new "save for later" options that will send your favorite Engadget posts off to reading services like Evernote, Instapaper, and Read It Later. The app is still free, and the new version is available right now in the App Store. We've got our own app on the App Store, and you may recall that it was updated for Retina Display compatibility a few months ago. It still doesn't run natively on the iPad just yet, but we're told an update for that is still in the works. Presumably we'll see some of these Engadget updates on our app as well. As grandma always said, patience is a virtue... so don't worry, the updated (and free) TUAW app is still coming soon. Read More

I have a confession to make that might put my Fanboy status in jeopardy. I wasn’t part of the iPhone click until the iPhone 3G veiled its beautiful body to us. It’s a humbling revelation that I feel necessary to share. I have only been able to enjoy the iPhone with the App Store available. Having done my share of downloading and reviewing, (72 apps on my iPhone 4 today), I often wonder if I have maximized the potential that the App Store can cultivate. It took me quite a while to break down and purchase paid applications. Probably too long. When I started adding iTunes credit to my account, it was if I was the conductor of entirely different ship. A much nicer ship. I first hit apps which reflected the interests related to my lifestyle. Engadget, ESPN Radio, Echofon, Words with Friends, Tiger Woods, and those similar were the Read More

Engadget is to most of the tech world one of the best news sources for the latest and greatest in technology. They offer some amazing coverage of new events and devices as well as some great articles on current technology. The site has now released an app tailored specifically to bring that content to your device in a visually appealing and media-rich way. The app offers access to the three main sections of Engadget. Users can access the basic Engadget blog, the mobile section, and the EngadgetHD section. All three sections offer the latest articles, videos and pictures that the site has gathered. Users can bookmark any article they find interesting for later reading or login and comment straight from the app. As an app that basically accesses a website, I had the question of why I would want the app when I could just go to the site. But the Read More

Engadget releases iPhone app

Dec 30th 2009 at 12:00PM All I want is for www.engadget.com and www.tuaw.com to redirect me to i.[engadget|tuaw].com when appropriate, be it Mobile Safari or some RSS aggregator app with built-in browser support. How can that be too much to ask? I don't get it. Actually, I really like the Comments Tab feature in the Engadget app. I hope it will inspire Tuaw app developers! This is more of a comment for many of the commenters who talked about wanting all their news in one place. I used to use an RSS aggregator too but I stopped using that and now just check my feed on http://www.yourversion.com. I get a real-time update on news, blogs, Twitter posts, etc related to only my interests. In fact, I found this post via yourversion.com... They have a free iPhone app too. Cheers! To me, this feels like another app that falls under the category Read More
