Pangea Takes The Lead In Online Gaming
Calendar16 Fri, 10 Sep 2010 15:04:04 UTC +00:00
By Chris Hall on September 10th, 2010 Pangea takes the lead with Game Center gaming. I’ll admit, even when Game Center was just a big high-score collector, like OpenFeint and Plus+ before it, I was happy. I loved that it had its own app, and that it was easy to find directly compare your stats with friends, rather than having to dig through huge lists to find them. The whole thing was great, and then I found Cro-Mag Rally and the rest of the Game Center enhanced apps from Pangea. Cro-Mag Rally Admittedly, I’d never really gotten into Cro-Mag Rally when it was first out. It was always a good game, but with so many other racing games out there, it just got swallowed up. With the 4.1 update though, the game has found a whole new life for me (until the “so many other games” swallows it up again). Instead Read More

Austin, Texas based iPhone developer Pangea Softwarehave been making video games since their inception in the late 80's. Originally targeting the Apple IIGS, Pangea has been hopping to each new Apple platform as they're released, this time tweaking their existing iPhone games to run at the native 960x640 resolution of the iPhone 4's Retina Display. As mentioned in our first impressions post on gaming with the iPhone 4, increasing the output resolution of existing games doesn't really add to gameplay at all... But it sure does look good. Noteworthy games that have been updated include: Enigmo - Starting its life as a Mac game, Enigmo is a physics puzzle game that was voted Best iPhone Game at WWDC in 2008. In the game you move various objects around the game board to direct water droplets to their destination. Levels start easy and get so hard you will be desperately searching Google Read More
More iPad games revealed
Calendar16 Fri, 26 Mar 2010 23:15:00 UTC +00:00
It looks like the crafty folks over at MacRumors have figured out how to snake their way into the not-yet-public listing for top revenue iPad apps. Now, we've got a flood of information coming out about software for the device that's not coming out for another week or so. As you can see above, quite a few rumored and revealed games are already charting on the iPad store, and it looks like prices are running from $3.99 to $9.99. "HD" appeared to be the preferred nomenclature for iPad games yesterday, but "for iPad" is in there as well. It also looks like Enigmo for the iPhone will be Enigmo Deluxe on the iPad. MacRumors says that some of the "released" dates on this listing go back as far as March 19th, which is presumably when Apple started approving iPad apps. We've spoken to some of the developers whose games were revealed, Read More

Black Friday 2009 App Store Sale Extravaganza
Calendar16 Fri, 27 Nov 2009 05:45:08 UTC +00:00
I had planned on settling in tonight, sifting through the tons of emails we've received from developers who are planning to or have put their games on sale, and forming some kind of massive list... Only to discover that TouchArcade forum superstar and all around cool dude Djflippy had completely one-upped me, not only posting a thread with a remarkably comprehensive list, but also alphabetizing said list. All of these games are either on sale currently or either have prices that are currently being modified or will be changed shortly. If something you're looking for isn't the price that we've published, just check back later: There are some serious bargains to be had in that list, and most of these sales are only going to last through the day with some of them extending over the weekend. It's probably not a good idea to wait on downloading any of these games Read More

In-app purchases not so hot for some developers
Calendar16 Mon, 21 Sep 2009 18:00:00 UTC +00:00
PocketGamer.biz has an interesting interview up with Pangea, makers of the iPhone physics puzzle game Enigmo, and they say that so far, their experience with in-app purchases has been pretty lukewarm. The software itself has sold over a million copies, but only a very small number of those customers are going for the in-app purchases -- about 25 per day, according to Pangea's Brian Greenstone. 25 per day may not be bad for a smaller developer, but Greenstone says he "was expecting hundreds." Why aren't the microtransactions doing so hot? It's going to take time, first of all -- customers need to learn the value of picking up content piece by piece, and developers need to learn exactly how to price and plan the stuff out. On an established download service like Xbox Live, add-ons and content packs have become de rigueur, though some of those battles are still being fought. Read More

September 2nd, 2009 James Isabel **Erratum: The article was originally titled Rolando 2. It’s now been corrected to read Rolando. Apologies for the mistake** Long before I came to the dark side and write (JK), I was once (only) a big iPhone gaming fan. Back then ng:moco ruled with MazeFinger and Pangea had a rep about as equal to Gameloft‘s status today. With Gameloft and Chillingo pushing new releases left and right, ng:moco and Pangea decided it’s time for some comebacks. Pangea Releases Enigmo 2 (Download: $2.99) I’d like to call Enigmo the pioneer of all iPhone puzzlers. It was and still is an enthralling  and challenging little bugger. With the sequel, it looks like Pangea turned it up a notch seeing this is their first release in months. Next up, ng:moco rolls Rolando in to $2.99 category. A Quick Look at In-App Purchasing in Games
Calendar16 Wed, 17 Jun 2009 22:31:45 UTC +00:00
By Jeff Scott on June 17th, 2009 We take a quick look at in-app purchasing and how a couple of newly updated games handle it and what you can expect going forward. One of the big features for iPhone OS 3.0 is in-app purchasing. The feature allows you to buy expansion packs for games and applications while in the application. It’s a way to extend the game a little while not requiring you to purchase a whole new application. Now that 3.0 has gone live, we’ve got first looks at a couple games that have been upgraded to take advantage of these features. Flick Fishing from Freeverse Freeverse have launched an updated to Flick Fishing today that takes advantage of in app purchasing by allowing you to buy a new level called Private Island for $0.99. This island adds both a new location to fish in the game along with some Read More

Pangea Adds Location-Aware Leader Boards To Enigmo & More
Calendar16 Sat, 02 May 2009 15:02:57 UTC +00:00
Pangea Software has sold a ton of games at the App Store, but instead of letting them become boring and stale, they have decided to bring location-aware leader boards to some of their more popular games. Instead of creating their own leader board system, Pangea decided to implement Geocade’s service.  Geocade is one of the largest location-aware social gaming platforms available to iPhone developers.  The Pangea games that have received the Geocade treatment are Enigmo, Billy Frontier, Antimatter, Bugdom 2, and Otto Matic.  The Geocade system has been added to these games through their most recent free updates. This may not be the prettiest implementation of a leader board system, but it brings added value to many of Pangea’s classic games and that’s what matters.  Pangea is also having a $.99 sale on every single one of their games, including the ones that didn’t receive a Geocade update like Nanosaur 2 Read More

Apple Hits 1 Billion App Store Downloads!
Calendar16 Thu, 23 Apr 2009 23:24:28 UTC +00:00
Apple was expected to serve up their 1 Billionth (with a capital B) App Store download today, and lo and behold, Apple has announced that they’ve officially seen 1 billion iPhone/iPod Touch applications downloaded from their iTunes App Store! In less than a full year of existence, Apple and the iPhone have managed to make mobile applications as commonplace as an iTunes music purchase, and the App Store’s popularity continues to grow. The total tally of iPhone applications in the iPhone AppStore was estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000 in March 2009. And, with thousands more iPhone applications hitting the AppStore on a monthly basis, Apple’s success with their integrated mobile application delivery model will likely continue. No wonder everyone and their grandmother are trying to launch mobile application stores of their own. For the record, it took Apple six whole months to reach the 500-million milestone. From Read More

comstar6750 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I some how lost a hour at work and I never play games at work. The first levels warm you up nicely, then the challenge begins. Getting the drops through gates and around bends using the tools provided makes for quite a challenge. Very impressive physics for so many little droplets. I'm sure to loose more time.
Great port of the original Enigmo game
jedimacfan 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
The games runs great on the iPhone. Even better than I expected. Definitely worth your time to play, especially if you haven't already. The only downside in comparison to the original is that there is no background music, though understandable since it's a mobile version. I just miss it.
Great Game
TNiPhone 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

shdwjk 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Enigmo has intuitive controls and fun levels. It is fast paced and challenging, even at lower levels, with an interesting variety of tools. Zooming in and out allows for fine-tuning where your tools are placed as well as enjoying the overall effect of all of them working together. Graphics are great and the sounds add to the fun.
Awesome
Falcora 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

Vbman213 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is an amazing remake of the orginal Enigmo for Mac, Pangea did an amazing job at brining this game to the iPhone 2.0 platform, and this version is even better than the Mac version... I can't wait for them to port Enigmo 2 :)
I dig this game
小罗 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is a lot of fun. It is probably my favorite iPhone game I've found so far.
Prophetic Interface?
shmuel 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
I downloaded and became temporarily obsessed with Enigmo on my laptop a few years back. It was (and is) an inventive, unique and challenging game that defied the cliches that so many puzzle games get trapped in. It was especially fun to play with a group of friends and a projector. The puzzles projected in huge detail on a wall were immersive and the level designer allowed for all sorts of collaborative gaming.
Great Game!
Drake2x 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I was looking at it and thought that it might be good but I have no idea how addictive it was! I'm now on level 31 and can't wait to play it some more. I recommend this to anyone that likes logic puzzles.
Awesome.
SHWICK'S SHTICK 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I could go for some more levels though.
Good game
scion156 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.1
Would highly recommended this game to buy because this game is challenging and fun at the sametime!
Super game
Panama Dank 5.0 stars Version: 1.1.1
Great game never had a problem! Hours of fun worth every penny!
Great puzzle game
Richab 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great puzzle game. I find myself playing this game for ever. Graphics are better then what i thought the would be. The 50 levels that they have are amazing.
