Spotify  [ v 0.5.0 ] Until very recently, I had not paid much attention to Spotify, a music streaming service that wasn’t even available in the U.S. until last last summer. The other day, the Spotify app was in a prominent spot iOS App Store, and I though, “why not?”. I downloaded it, logged-in with my Facebook credentials (don’t be creepy) and immediately began listening to music that I Read More

Minecraft – Pocket Edition  [ v 0.3.0 ] My pick this week is Minecraft Pocket Edition. To me, and reasonable people might disagree, this is a sandbox game with no real point, while being endlessly entertaining anyway. The worlds feel massive, and there are several modes of play, but my favorite is “Creative Mode”. In this mode, you are free to wonder, and dig, and build. This game is Read More

It’s been a busy day for the Evernote team with not just one, but two apps being pushed out into Apple’s App Store. You probably know Evernote as the note-taking and archiving utility that helps to organize our digital lives, but did you also know that it can help you remember the people you meet, as well as the meals you’ve eaten? Evernote’s two new apps, Evernote Hello and Evernote Food, do just that, and the best part is that they seamlessly sync with your existing Evernote account, meaning all your Hello and Food notes are available anywhere on any internet-enabled device… Evernote Hello is there to help you remember the people you meet, say, at a convention or large gathering, like Macworld. The idea is that you hand your iPhone over to the person you are meeting and let them put their details into Evernote Hello. They would enter their Read More
Today at the Le Web conference in Paris, Evernote is debuting two new applications for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The first one is called Food, and is designed to help people easily save and ‘relive’ all of their favorite meals and food experiences. The second app is dubbed Hello and basically wants it easier for users to remember people after meeting them, as well as recording thoughts about and experiences with those people. The Food app is essentially giving users ways to document dishes and drinks they’ve had, build a catalog of custom recipes, review restaurants and record food experiences in their neighborhood or abroad, and even manage their diets. It also comes with handy sharing options, of course. The application lets people capture all aspects of a meal through pictures, location, text and photo captions. All this information about the meal is automatically synchronized with Evernote, making it easy Read More

I've looked and looked for an app that does this for a long time. There are a few, but none were exactly what I was looking for. This one is.In face, I used to simply use the Evernote app to take shots of what I eat. This app makes the process both much simpler and yields much prettier results. It allows for multiple photos, captions on each photo, and an overall comment. Perfect for my needs. Why take pictures of what I eat? There are a few reasons. My dietician finds it MUCH easier to browse than the food diary to see if I'm staying on track. (I simply make the food diary notebook public.) I also find that I'm more careful about eating quick, stupid snacks because I don't want them recorded for posterity. And finally, I've found that a food diary is a great way to jog your memory of events, since food is so frequently tied to the things we do.
