The paper business card may go away someday if innovative apps like Bump and Evernote Hello take over, but for now we're still dealing with these little chunks of cardboard. Of course, in almost all cases it's not the physical object we care about, but rather the data printed on the card. (Some exceptions are inevitable.) Getting those inky bits converted to actual bits is easy enough with your iPhone and the right app. My default tool for business card scanning has been CardMunch, which has a number of advantages: fast, ties in easily to parent company LinkedIn, accurate (using actual humans to do the card transcription) and free. Unfortunately, CardMunch's cloud dependency means that sometimes it can get backed up, and when you're sitting on an airplane with a stack of post-conference business cards to go through, it's quite likely useless. That's where the Penpower family of contact management apps Read More
Evernote has updated its people-note app, Evernote Hello, for iPhone. The massive update brings the application version to 1.1, while making “every action and interaction faster, easier and more natural.” Here are the highlights: Additionally, there are other smaller changes included like full-screen photos, ability to choose a contact photo from the Camera Roll, smart phone number formatting, ability to log out from the app and the brand new app icon. Unfortunately, Android version is still missing and we can only hope it will be out soon… Evernote Hello (FREE) [iTunes link] SPONSORED MESSAGE Get free domestic and international calls and texts to anyone with the Vonage Mobile app available as an iPhone calling app or Android calling app. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. Evernote Hello

The new iPhone app from Evernote called Hello aims to help you remember the people you meet. One of the chief ideas that played a role in Evernote Hello’s development was the concept of providing an address book that encouraged social interaction. While this idea was undoubtedly inspired by the success of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, many potential customers might be wondering at how practical such an application might be. The Evernote Hello app is different from most other address book applications in that it’s designed to be used by someone other than the iPhone’s owner. This bizarre concept involves the phone’s owner giving their iPhone to new contacts and asking them to enter their own contact information into the phone. After they’ve completed all this, the phone will take their picture and create a new entry in the phone owner’s address book. Strengths One of the strong Read More

It’s been a busy day for the Evernote team with not just one, but two apps being pushed out into Apple’s App Store. You probably know Evernote as the note-taking and archiving utility that helps to organize our digital lives, but did you also know that it can help you remember the people you meet, as well as the meals you’ve eaten? Evernote’s two new apps, Evernote Hello and Evernote Food, do just that, and the best part is that they seamlessly sync with your existing Evernote account, meaning all your Hello and Food notes are available anywhere on any internet-enabled device… Evernote Hello is there to help you remember the people you meet, say, at a convention or large gathering, like Macworld. The idea is that you hand your iPhone over to the person you are meeting and let them put their details into Evernote Hello. They would enter their Read More
Today at the Le Web conference in Paris, Evernote is debuting two new applications for iPhone and iPod touch devices. The first one is called Food, and is designed to help people easily save and ‘relive’ all of their favorite meals and food experiences. The second app is dubbed Hello and basically wants it easier for users to remember people after meeting them, as well as recording thoughts about and experiences with those people. The Food app is essentially giving users ways to document dishes and drinks they’ve had, build a catalog of custom recipes, review restaurants and record food experiences in their neighborhood or abroad, and even manage their diets. It also comes with handy sharing options, of course. The application lets people capture all aspects of a meal through pictures, location, text and photo captions. All this information about the meal is automatically synchronized with Evernote, making it easy Read More

Awesome way to remember people

This is a perfect way to remember people, and integrates right into the Evernote app. What more can you ask for?
Awesome app!
Holly Orms 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm really excited about this app- especially since it links to my evernote account and personal calendar and notes- on the road to linking the entire user experience on mobile!

Great app, does what it says, and it's free.
Bad Ideas
Pete Townill 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is incredibly frustrating to use, forces you to share your picture, does not interact with social networks or contacts, fills out your home location for sharing. It's UI flat out STEALS Metro UI.It's icon is a hideous Verizon "Can You Hear Me Now" face.Huge disappointment from an Evernote Premium subscriber.
Great social app for business
Demetrius Frazier 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great idea. Simple and easy to use. Will definitely come in handy as I start my new job.
Great addition to regular contacts app!!
Enzo Miceli 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I like that it automatically sends new contacts, your information. Add ability to add contacts based on location, when both people have app open. Or, allow the option to add contacts directly from the email that Evernote sends. Otherwise, great app!
Pretty Cool
Chuck Keith 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love Evernote and this looks like an amazing addition. I am looking forward to how this will change the way I meet people.
Great!
geoffdr 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great! Really works for me!!
Absolutely not.
RobNixon 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app defaults to spamming people you add with emails saying that "it was nice to you", and I really don't appreciate that. I am a human being, not a robot incapable of writing a personalized message - why Evernote would think this is desirable for either party is beyond my comprehension.Uninstalled.
Great!!!!
NOEL FLORES 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Good idea about this app.. Keep going !! Thanks!!
but…but…but...what about contacts?
James Garriss 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'm already doing this to some degree with contacts. Now I have to dupe that? Hmmm, no thanks! When you get this to sync with my contacts, call me.
