We’ve already told you Evernote was one of the first apps to get an update for the new iPad’s Retina display. What we haven’t told you is that their other two iPad apps, Evernote Peek and Skitch, also got the same treatment to make everything look sharper, crisper and more vibrant. The Evernote app got the biggest update with Retina display support being just one of the new things. For instance, version 4.1.9 also brings better checkbox support, resulting in checkboxes working more like lists – they now support indentation, and new lines created after a checkbox will automatically insert a new box. Moreover, text editing has been improved so that note editor is now much more responsive and reliable than in the past. Then there are enhancements in the suggested note titles. As you type your own title, a matching list of previously used titles will appear, which is neat Read More
Evernote has once again updated its Peek app to make it work on all iPads (the original iPad included), whether or not you have the Smart Cover or not. They did this by introducing virtual covers that mimic Apple’s accessory and allow the same functionality. You can choose between 10 differently colored virtual covers and use them in a similar fashion as you would use the physical Smart Cover. In other words, here’s how it works: All this is done by simply swiping the screen, making for a great experience. Finally, at the end of its blog post, Evernote reminds us they also added new materials to the Peek app from VisitEurope.com, providing information about Western, Central and Eastern Europe, as well as Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. Nice! Evernote Peek (FREE) [iTunes link] Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. Read More
Evernote has updated its iPad 2 smart cover app, Peek, with new content, improved organization capabilities and support for additional languages. First let’s talk about the content. Peek 2.0 comes with quizzes from Martha Stewart Publications (weddings, food, nutrition, gardening and more); 7×7 Magazine (all about San Francisco); Study Guides by Magoosh, Membean and Brainscape; StudyBlue; and Evernote. When it comes to organization capabilities, users are now able to put their notebooks into stacks. There’s the “My Notebook” stack for any notebooks found in your account, “Shared Notebooks” for notebooks that other Evernote users have shared with you, and additional stacks that group related materials. Finally, support for more languages is also included. Peek 2.0 is now available in 14 different languages, and Evernote invites folks interested in becoming a translator to check out their translation site… To sum things up – if you own the iPad 2 with smart cover, Read More

Here’s how it works: The update includes: I wish this app was available when I was a student! Some topics are studied best with flashcards, and if could have used my iPad and Smart Cover as flash cards, studying would’ve been more exciting – and I just may not have dropped out of Biology. Evernote Peek is a fun little iPad app that you can use with your iPad’s Smart Cover to improve your smarts. If you’ve got an iPad and a magnetic Smart Cover from Apple (or other suppliers at this point) don’t miss out on Evernote Peek. To start, you’ll need to close the Smart Cover. You place the cover on the iPad and as you peel off the first flap, you’ll peek inside the app and read a clue or question. Then you’ll peel off the second fold and peek at the answer in the app. Peel off the Smart Cover all the way to see where you are along the full quiz or exam. The app and cover combined then serve as an awesome new digital flash card for your iPad. Once you download the free app it comes with only a single tutorial and Sushi quiz to get you started. Antagonistic tongues have lambasted the iPad for being a potential killer of reading habits by depriving us of the physical book experience (OMG!). This turns out not only to be completely untrue but also producing the opposite effect for many people. While casually browsing through an article on V.S. Naipaul the other day, I grew Read More

Evernote Peek: Evernote Peek is the first app to take advantage of the iPad's Smart Cover. Think of it as an 'educational app', or a modern day flash card. You fire up the app and close the smart cover, lift the cover just a bit and it'll pose a trivia question whose answer is just another panel away. It's a cute and simple game by itself, but you can also sync the app to your Evernote notebooks and create study guides too. Free Dinosaur Zoo: Think of it as an encyclopedia for dinosaurs but instead of giving you monotonous info that bores you, it places you in an interactive Dinosaur Zoo (hence the name). You can slide through various dinosaurs and have them attack your finger tap, get fed, or drop a deuce. But Dinosaur Zoo isn't all play, there's basic information on the dinos and a slick map interface that Read More
Evernote Peek (kostenlos; App Store-Link). Read More

Evernote Peek Uses iPad 2 Smart Cover To Help You Study
Calendar16 Wed, 08 Jun 2011 18:07:32 UTC +00:00
by Note-taking platform Evernote has just released Evernote Peek, a first-of-its-kind application for the iPad 2 Smart Cover that is designed to help you study and improve your memory. The application works in conjunction with the Smart Cover so that each time you partially lift the cover, your iPad 2 will awake and you’ll be presented with a question. Lift the cover a bit more and you can peek at the answer. The Evernote Peek Smart Cover application is a modern interpretation on the age-old practice of memorizing study materials with notecards. Here, the notecards are replaced by your Evernote notes and your memorization skills are put to the test each time you lift your Smart Cover. Evernote Peek connects to your Evernote account so you can select your notebooks and turn them into study guides. The application also includes a selection of Evernote-generated notebooks on study topics. These notebooks include Read More

Lift the cover and your iPad turns on, drop it and it goes to sleep. It’s kind of addictive. But what if someone actually built an app around that fidgety behavior? Well, Evernote just did. It’s called Evernote Peek, a free app for the iPad 2 that is designed around the smart cover. It is the first smart cover app, and it may even make you smarter. Evernote Peek is a Read More
Evernote Peek: The First iPad Smart Cover App
Calendar16 Wed, 08 Jun 2011 18:42:07 UTC +00:00
The folks behind Evernote, the notetaking and organizational app, have come up with an interesting new iPad app called Evernote Peek. The app offers a unique use of Apple's Smart Cover to help users study, learn, and improve their memory. Evernote Peek works by connecting to an existing Evernote account where your study materials are stored. When you're ready, close the Smart Cover, then fold the first panel back to reveal the question. When you think you have the answer, fold the second panel back and check. Peek will even keep track of which answers you get incorrect so you can go back later (it's on the honor system). Evernote Peek is a very clever use of the Smart Cover technology. It's free on the App Store. Read More
