Freeverse Eye Glasses App for iPhone arrives
Calendar16 Thu, 01 Oct 2009 08:38:13 UTC +00:00
Freeverse has announced the release  of Eye Glasses, an iPhone application that clearly displays objects  that are too small to make out – from fine print to photo details! Eye Glasses uses the autofocusing camera to clearly display text or imagery. To use Eye Glasses, users choose between four different levels of magnification, from 2x, 4x, 6x or 8x, point the iPhone camera at the item, and see it magnified on the screen as the camera sharpens the image. Apparently, the app is ideal for farsighted individuals, those with reading glasses or bifocals, senior citizens and anyone that just needs to  see more clearly. I have to say, if the magnification is well-implemented, then it should be very good – I’m a fan of the auto-focus on the anyway, so an App that makes extra use of this is welcom, IMHO. Eye Glasses is now available in the Apple App Store Read More
Eye Glasses : une loupe pour votre iPhone
Calendar16 Wed, 30 Sep 2009 19:16:16 UTC +00:00
Read More
There’s an app for that: Eye Glasses for iPhone
Calendar16 Wed, 30 Sep 2009 17:00:12 UTC +00:00
The iPhone would still look ridiculous mounted to your head by a set of frames (and, technically, you’d be a cyclops), but using the iPhone 3GS as a magnifying glass is a pretty sweet idea. Eye Glasses comes with four digital zoom levels, and although it works with any iPhone model, you’re obviously going to have the best experience with the 3GS and its auto-focus lens. At $2.99 my first gut feel is that you could probably find a zoom camera app for a lower price, but the interface probably wouldn’t be as reading-friendly. Read More
Read More
Use Your iPhone 3GS As Your Reading Glasses
Calendar16 Tue, 29 Sep 2009 21:10:19 UTC +00:00
Freeverse recently released an extremely practical app called Eye Glasses, an app which is targeted at the older iPhone crowd, or just generally for those who have a difficult time reading small text or viewing small details. Eye Glasses is also a perfect app for those of you who constantly forget your reading glasses at home, or simply for those who just don’t like carrying them around wherever you go for an occasional use; and since your iPhone is always with you, you will never be without the ability to read that utterly important fine print. Eye Glasses‘ simplicity is definitely one of its bullet points.  You can choose between four levels of magnification located at the bottom of the screen, ranging from 2x, 4x, 6x, or 8x, then just point the iPhone’s camera at whatever it is you need magnified.  Freeverse recommends the use of an iPhone 3GS since its Read More

Well made
Docshlo 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works as described. No need to carry eye glasses for occasional use.
The Best $2.99 You'll Ever Spend, PERIOD!
jimde 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app works absolutely perfectly, exactly as described! And best of all it's simple to use. Without a doubt the best $2.99 I ever spent!
ingenious!
HBC3 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very clever and useful. Above 2x magnification the digital zoom starts to pixelate, but that's to be expected.
Silly
Hopalong60 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
No different than just using camera on phone. For $3 you get a image of looking through eyeglasses. Ripoff.
Ripoff!
Dr.Patel 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
If you wear reading glasses this app does not work! It was obviously invented by people who don't wear them. It is not as promised.
be careful...
OGR81 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
do not buy this if you have 2G or 3G. It doesnt work well for these phones. you MUST have auto-focus!
Only useful for 3GS
NoEyes4Me 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Tried it on a 3G (not 3GS), and it was of no value. While the writeup advises using 3GS, it doesn't mention that the app is of no benefit whatsoever with other iPhones. The lack of auto focus on other iPhones makes the image on this application less readable than it is to the naked eye, so this application should be sold for the 3GS only.
Should take Snapshot too
jweiser1925 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Very handy Application, would be nice if you could also snap a picture.
What You'd Expect
Calvin Knight 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Eye Glasses is a simple application that does a pretty good job of magnifying things. It takes a little practice finding the object at first since the iPhone's camera lens is in the corner of the back. You can hold something with small print in one hand and your iPhone in the other, but you're best off putting the object on a table or flat surface to hold it steady and then move your iPhone about 8" away. The higher the power the more pixelated the image becomes, but that's to be expected. Most of the time 2X or 4X should work fine. For $2.99, it seems reasonably priced if there's a need to use it quite often.
Don't Waste Your Money!
Desert Raincloud 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Absolutely Blurry and Useless!
Misleading!
sproutandscout 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
If you do not have the 3GS don't bother. Though they say it works with the 3G or itouch it really doesn't do what it should do, that is magnify small print so that you can read it. What it does is just makes small print a bit larger but also very blurry to the point that you cannot read it at all. I was very excited about this app and I am now very disappointed that it is completely useless.
You really need 3GS
Unkle Buddy 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
I was excited and downloaded before reading that it works best with 3GS iPhones. My 3G doesn't have autofocus, so it's blurry. Great idea and if you have a 3GS, I'd say go ahead. Otherwise, don't bother.
Works - almost perfect
KyleSheu 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have to read tiny serial numbers off things for work and my eyes just don't focus like they used to. This program works really well for that, I'd give it 5 stars if it had a button to save what i'm viewing as a photo. Please include that in the next update.
Absolutely Useless
dsgerard 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Thought it was a gtreat idea for the times I forgot my reading glasses for menus, etc. Horribilly flawed,... think about it. The iPhone camera lens can not focus close enough to get a good shot of the print until it is 18-20 inches away making the print very small and then this program just magnifies the already unreadable print. Looks like a Roschart(?) ink blot on 8x magnification. Some apps have disappointed and no big deal for a buck or two, but this one annoyed me enough to right a review. The people that wrote this know darn well that it doesn't even come close to working as described...Wish I could get my money back. It MIGHT work on a 3Gs model that focuses
You can't be serious
rigilous 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is useless. The magnified image is blurry, even at the lowest setting of 2x and in bright light. It wouldn't work at all in dim light, unless you keep a flashlight with you at all times (maybe in your fanny pack). It's too bad it's not a physical device, because at least it would be useful for something else (paper weight, door stop). I wish I could rate this zero stars. I want my $2.99 back from "Free"verse, Inc.
No need for Glasses when reading a menu...
Ndorfin13 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I think this app works very well, except sometimes the auto-focus tries to focus if you move the iphone too much. However, it's a great alternative to glasses, cause I always forget mine when I go to the restaurant. I've been waiting for this kind of app for a while.
Useless unless...
AzTeqi 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Capable of viewing 4-point fonts under perfect conditions (4 stars).
Use on 3GS, Not same as camera app
DisirVisage 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have a 3GS and eye glasses works as advertised. It is a nice utilitiy. Other reviews say this is the same functionality as the camera app, but they are not correct, I compared both. This app uses the camera capability and then digitally magnifies the image at various scales. A mode without the eyeglass frame and a way to take a snapshot in the app would be nice. Of course, you can take a picture by doing a screen snap, which is to hold down the home button and single click the top on/off button once.
Not good on my 3G
desistx 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Too high a price for this very limited app. At 99 cents it would be OK, but should be 3 times as good as it is at 2.99.
Not for iPhone 3.0 or 3.1
Techbooklover 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
The description doesn't clearly state that this doesn't work with this model phone. The image is blurry and I can't focus it. I deleted the app because it was useless.
Well made
Docshlo 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works as described. No need to carry eye glasses for the occasional use. Using a 3GS, works well in low light conditions and the digital zoom isn't the same as using the camera itself.
Does what it says.
Prof 2 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app does exactly what it says it does. I gave it 4 stars because of the eyeglass frame taking up valuable reading space. GoMagnify does the same thing without the frame and is free. Enjoy.
Out of focus on iPhone 3G
Alfredoi 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
It just doesn't work on my 3G phone. It out of focus. The 3GS warning was not posted until after I purchased. I should get my money back.
Lifesaver
seslava 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great app. Works just as described with my 3GS. I used to carry a little magnifier in my wallet to read the little print on product labels when shopping. From now on all I need is my iPhone
Great!
eagleeye82 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I had this idea over one year ago. I am glad somebody finally made the app. Works perfect! But you do need a 3GS.
Works as advertised!
StStephen67 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I have a 3GS so I can't compair against other phones but on my phone this puppy works great! I've used it several times in different lighting and it hasn't failed me yet. Thanks to Freeverse for this wonderful application
