Something interesting is going on in the Android Market this morning. A bunch of our favorite apps are suddenly going for a dime, with no real rhyme or reason for the discount. @dirkyd3rlc and @Pat_Huey on Twitter alerted us to SwiftKey and Minecraft on sale for 10 cents, and we've found others. (Update: And in the UK, the apps are going for 10p each, not 6p, which would be converted from 10 cents U.S. We definitely smell a trend here.) Here's the list as it stands. There may be others. Tower defense games, a genre as old and time-tested as... well, at least that one mod I found for Warcraft III back in the day. At any rate, tower defense games seem a dime-a-dozen these days, especially on Android, but a strapping young whippersnapper looks to be the king of the heap. Enjoy it with ASUS Eee Pad TF101 The game runs smoothly with ASUS Eee Pad Transformer. I have been waiting for playing this game with my own tablet long after experiencing it with iPad 1. When knowing its Android version launched, immediately ordered Eee Pad to re-enjoy the game. Good machine, 18% cheaper than iPad 2 but with better hardware. Android 3.1 plus Google accounts and utility softwares links all together and performs well. Weight and thickness are not any problem. My personal best favorite among similar games. Cheers!

high quality game Very good tower defense game with great graphics and small but interesting selection of towers. Pretty darn difficult too - really makes you hone your strategies. As the game progresses though, some enemies become inexplicably tougher: the exact same little foot soldier who was a pushover in round 5 will suddenly be tough as nails by level 25, without any kind of visual cue to suggest that he's different than before. That adds a touch of random unpredictability to what is otherwise a very strategic game.

Don't blame yourself 1, if you can't download, it's shame on Samsung because SGS have 30MB download cache limit below Android 2.3.3. Don't mess with the developer, it's Samsung's fault. 2, they wrote in the description, tablet are not welcome yet. They are working on it. So give the stars to the game. 3, if you press the home button, the game will exit. You don't need exit button or back button. If you don't believe me, just test it. It works as every Android game should be. Anyway the game is awesome. I hope there'll be more.

Stylish and polished, but lacks gameplay depth I feel like iPhone owners have been telling me for years how good Fieldrunners. So when it finally moved to Android, I bought it right away. And I have to say, I'm ever so slightly disappointed. Yes, it's very polished, the cartoonish graphics are great. But the gameplay feels very simplistic and lacking in depth compared to games like Tower Raiders 2. (Being dickish, I would say that FR vs TR2 is not a bad metaphor for iOS vs Android in general.) A good introduction to the tower defence genre, though.

Laggy crash prone rip off of Robo Defense Save your money and buy the far, far superior Robo Defense from Lupis Labs. This is a buggy, crash prone mess that is replica of the far better Robo Defense with new graphics and dumber AI. Definitely not worth $2.99... would maybe say it's worth .99, but that is a stretch. UI on this is terrible. AI is terrible. Maps are boring.

I feel like iPhone owners have been telling me for years how good Fieldrunners. So when it finally moved to Android, I bought it right away. And I have to say, I'm ever so slightly disappointed. Yes, it's very polished, the cartoonish graphics are great. But the gameplay feels very simplistic and lacking in depth compared to games like Tower Raiders 2. (Being dickish, I would say that FR vs TR2 is not a bad metaphor for iOS vs Android in general.) A good introduction to the tower defence genre, though.

Save your money and buy the far, far superior Robo Defense from Lupis Labs. This is a buggy, crash prone mess that is replica of the far better Robo Defense with new graphics and dumber AI. Definitely not worth $2.99... would maybe say it's worth .99, but that is a stretch. UI on this is terrible. AI is terrible. Maps are boring.

So after some back and forths with the dev, finally got the app installed on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, OS 2.3.3). Had to un-install all the market updates, and install the game before the market updated itself. Once I did that, the game install went fine. Actual game play seems good, have had a little bit of fun with it in the 15 minutes I played.

Awesome game, the graphics and characters are brilliant and I love the retro toy styling of the planes, robots etc. Sort of a shame you have to endure and complete 100 rounds before advancing to the next level each time, it does get somewhat tedious and repetitive pretty quickly.

Seeing a lot of Evo3D issues, I have an Evo3D and it works flawlessly here. Very entertaining game, I like the ability to place your towers anywhere on the map, unique twist on a tower defense game. You actually have to make the 'path' the invaders walk.

Its an alright TD game, but its very basic in approach. The towers can be upgraded mid-game but there is no way to increase their power through talents or anything, so you're always stuck with just the basics.

I dig this game, I have wasted many an hour on it at this point. Once you get to the point where you can use 6 towers, it is game on to go for the eternety level and see how far you can go. I am not sure what can be added to it at this point, but would like to request some kind of change up. You could do something like plants versus zombies, where you can play a level as the zombies (soldiers) to see if you can make it through. Either way, fun game. Worth it, especially in HD

Just seems highly over-rated. Good graphics sure...but it is monotonous. 100 rounds for each map? That's absurd. There is definitely no replay value for me, I don't want to have to spend SO much time (even on double-speed) on each and every map. There should be a demo of this game. Thankfully, the price was reduced to 10 cents today. Anything more than that and I would have felt ripped off by an extremely over-hyped tower defense game (there are better ones out there).

The game is pretty good, I will give the designers that much. The normal and hard levels are pretty hard to say the least. Also this game does not have all the levels the iPad and the iPhone get. Why? Why cripple the Android version vs the iOS one? If the designer puts additional time into getting the other levels in as well as create a more balanced gameplay, a 5 star review wouldn't be too far from the getting done.

If this is your first contact with a TD game, you'll enjoy it. For veterans this is just too boring. Try Myth Defence or Medieval Castle Defence. What really kills the experience are the controls. On my Defy, they always lag.

I had no idea what this game was before Google did the 10 billion thing. I'm very glad I bought it, and I recommend it to anyone! I handed my brother my HP TouchPad, and he couldn't stop playing it! It's basically a VERY addicting tower defense game, and well worth a few bucks!

This game is a pretty decent tower defense. It's not as deep as something like Plants vs Zombies but for a quick pick up and put down it's nice to have as an option. It plays great on both my Epic Touch 4G and my Galaxy Tab 10.1.

@X its HD but your phone screen is 4.5 with a low resolution set by Samsung for performance I guess. EVO 3D is qhd resolution look good and fits tablets. I do agree it could look better but it fits higher resolutions than original.

I like this game quite a bit, and have run through it a few times. Generally works well on my two Android devices (Nexus S with ICS, Transformer Prime with ICS) - I did have one problem during a recent update and the developer responded right away in email. I do wish it had some additional features though, like ways to make more money by hoarding funds (kind of like how Sentinel 3 does); it would mix up the game a bit more and make re-playing it more random.

I like the game, but "endless" mode simply isn't endless. In fact, it's quite frustrating. After a while, the earlier stages are just a waste of time. Also, one cannot save ones progress and revert back. Oh, and one other thing, the screen appears quite blurred, but that might be that I'm playing on the Galaxy Note.
