When I think of Valentine’s Day I think of Cupid prancing around, shooting his arrows into people to help them fall in love, couples planning their days out with brunches, picnics, and an elegant dinner at a 5 star restaurant. I also think of the rest of you poor bastards who say that you’re fine with being single and you prefer your independence rather than reporting in with someone on everything you do, but let’s face it, you just haven’t found the right person yet. Instead of staying home and being miserable watching RomComs while eating a bucket of Turkey Hill ice cream, you can stay home and celebrate your independence by playing games all weekend long. If playing some fine iOS games is your idea of a good time, then you’ve come to the right place as a both EA Mobile and Gameloft have dropped the prices of their iOS Read More

After seeing a ton of success with their massive holiday 99¢ sale, the folks at EA Mobile are once again going on a discount binge. While not quite as extensive as that previous sale, a number of EA titles have temporarily dropped to 99¢ as part of an "I  ♥ 99¢ Sales" sale. Check out the following list of discounted games which are directly linked to the App Store: iPhone/iPod touch games: iPad games: The sale is said to run for 48 hours, so make sure and grab whatever you like while it's currently discounted. We'll keep our eyes on AppShopper.com to see if any new titles are added to this sale, as several new games were added to the sale just as I've been working on this post. Also, there's still a load of EA titles that are still 99¢ from their last big sale, so it may be worth Read More
The Great Electronic Arts 99¢ Sale of 2010
Calendar16 Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:23:29 UTC +00:00
It seems like whenever a holiday rolls around in the US, all of the major developers put their catalog of iOS games on sale in an effort to ride a wave of publicity into the top app charts. Electronic Arts is no stranger to this practice, and in observance of a very special holiday this Winter they have dropped a huge number of their games down to 99¢. Yes, that's right, EA is having a sale to celebrate forum moderator ImNoSuperMan's birthday. Just kidding. It's a Christmas sale. Or rather, a "Holiday" sale. Whatever the politically correct reason for this event is, the bottom line is that you can get a ton of EA games for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad for just a dollar each right now. (Note that some of these titles actually launched at 99¢, or have been that price for a while, but have been added to Read More

July 4th Weekend Sales: Gameloft, EA, Glu, Namco and More
Calendar16 Sat, 03 Jul 2010 10:25:44 UTC +00:00
In celebration of this holiday weekend, several game companies are hoping that you'll load up on some new games while loading up on burgers and hot dogs. Four of the biggest iPhone developers have discounted a selection of their games for this event, and a few other random sales are occurring as well. There's bound to be something on this massive list that piques your interest, so in between lighting off tiny explosives in the name of freedom and stuffing your face with barbecued treats make sure you hit up these sales before they're gone. Holidays on the App Store mean big savings for customers. Developers including Glu, Gameloft, and Namco are putting oodles of apps on sale, with many as low as $0.99. Grab 'em while you can! We Americans celebrate July 4th as Independence Day. Usually it involves fireworks, glow-sticks, barbecues, and patriotic parades. But quite a few developers have decided to celebrate in yet another way—by putting their apps on sale. Yay, cheap apps! Yay, developers selling lots of apps! Yay, fireworks! So far we’ve got sales from EA Games, Glu, Gameloft, and Namco, as well as a few bonus apps. Hit the break for a full listing of on-sale apps and games. Namco Namco is the developer behind lots of games, not just the Pac-man titles, and they’d like us all to remember that with this crazy sale. Many games are $0.99; others are still significantly cheaper than their already-low App Store Read More

TUAW's Daily App: SimCity
Calendar16 Wed, 23 Jun 2010 13:00:00 UTC +00:00
Jun 23rd 2010 at 8:00AM Looks like the sale in only in the US app store (or at least C&C is not on sale in the NZ one). It's not in the UK one either. Shame! Since when did TUAW become a gaming magazine? I love the concept of an app of the day but it would be great if there were an option of filtering game reviews out of TUAW's otherwise relevant news feed... You and Jordan need to start up your own blog, call it iComplain. I hope they put these on sale because of an upcoming iPad version of the games... I'm getting sick of using FullForce on Trivial Pursuit... it makes the board full screen, but the questions and such still only occupy an iPhone-sized corner of the screen. I'm betting it's to bump their games up on the best sellers lists before all the new iPhone Read More
by Game-maker Electronic Arts (EA) is selling a big chunk of its iPhone game library for just $0.99 per game for the next 48 hours — a steep discount for many of its titles which include Madden NFL 2010, FIFA 10 and SimCity. Not all of EA’s games are on sale, though. Sure, SimCity is $0.99, but [iTunes link] is still a steep $6.99, and while FIFA 2010 is just $0.99, the more timely [iTunes link] hangs at $2.99 — though that’s not a bad price, either. EA is one of the world’s biggest game publishers. Its EA Sports line of games is at the top of the heap, and franchises like The Sims, Mass Effect and Medal of Honor have at one time or another led in sales or influence. Increasingly, the company has extended those franchises to mobile devices like the iPhone. The full list of games on sale Read More
Don’t Miss 48hr Electronic Arts App Sale!
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 17:53:15 UTC +00:00
Electronic Arts produce some great games for the iPhone, however they’re never the cheapest on offer, but for the next 48 hours you could grab yourself some serious bargains, as EA have reduced 16 of their top games to $0.99/£0.59! The titles on offer are as follows, and clicking on a link will take you directly to iTunes. Many of these cost considerably more at launch, and titles such as Sim City, Need for Speed and Command & Conquer are certainly worth more than this low price given the polish those games have.  You have until midnight (US Eastern Time) on Wednesday 23rd June to download them for this price. We’ve picked up Battleship to add to our collection, how about you? Read More
EA iPhone games on sale for 99 cents
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 14:19:00 UTC +00:00
EA Mobile has been pretty good about offering regular sales on the iPhone, but this one takes the cake. For the next 48 hours, they’re offering 17 of their games for only 99 cents (including their sublime adaptations of and ). Just to highlight how good some of these savings are, many of these games typically sell for $6.99. That means you’ll be saving a whopping 85% on games like Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Madden NFL 10, and Need for Speed Shift. Hurry though – the sale only lasts until tomorrow night! Read More
EA Holding Massive $0.99 Sale for 48 Hours
Calendar16 Tue, 22 Jun 2010 14:04:00 UTC +00:00
EA is holding a massive $0.99 sale on over a dozen titles. The sale will only last 48 hours, so you have to act quickly. The games have been nicely organized by niezam into games that have never been $0.99 before, and ones that have (U.S. Links): $.99 for the first time $.99 once or several time before While all the games are good values for only $0.99, we'd probably say Need for Speed: Shift is the "must get" game from the list. It has frequently been cited as one of the best racing games for the iPhone, so it's a good one to have. So, I wrote iTunes (reported a problem) when I received my bill. And even though the game's info says that it's in English, and it's not, I was told that there is nothing that they can do for me, that the 'functionality of the game is Read More

Apps of the Month: Best iPhone Apps of October 2009
Calendar16 Mon, 02 Nov 2009 17:23:09 UTC +00:00
100,000. That’s the number of iPhone apps that have been approved to be sold on Apple’s App Store. So how the hell do you decide which ones to buy? Well, you could surf through the App Store’s featured list, but that means you’re only buying the ones Apple wants you to buy. Or, you could scour through the App Store’s Genius recommendations – which are still not perfect in my opinion. To help you with this problem, we’re going to create a “best of” list of the iPhone apps we enjoyed the most each month. The first edition is for October 2009. Admittedly, this one doesn’t have as many indie apps as we would like, so we’re going to provide every developer with a way to get on the list. To submit an app for our “Apps of the Month” list, send details of your app (and, preferably, a review code) Read More
EA Reveals More Details For Three Of Their Upcoming Titles
Calendar16 Wed, 14 Oct 2009 20:04:56 UTC +00:00
EA has been relatively quiet since the release of FIFA 10 and most recently Mystery Mania, but they have decided to break that short silence by announcing details for three of their upcoming iPhone and iPod touch titles. NBA Live The NBA’s regular season is just around the corner, which means it’s time for some NBA Live on your iPhone or iPod touch.  EA has revealed a few details regarding the title, and has included three new screenshots.  The game will feature real NBA rosters, all 30 teams, and three different modes, including an 82-game Season Mode, Exhibition Mode, and Playoff Mode.  It will also sport touch-screen and accelerometer controls, 15 music tracks from artists like Snoop Dogg and Xzibit, and audio commentary from Marv Albert. Need for Speed Shift Although EA didn’t release any brand new screenshots, they did reveal some new details about their upcoming racing title.  Need for Read More
FIFA 10 iPhone Review: EA Sports Hits Goaaal!
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Oct 2009 19:53:16 UTC +00:00
EA Sports wants you to ‘Bend it Like Beckham‘… The guys over at EA Sports have already impressed us with Madden 10. Can they repeat the same with FIFA? They’re promising full international teams and players, groovy control methods and lush graphics. But how much does the game really deliver (if at all)? Presentation Here we see EA’s familiar gray / semi-transparent buttons / virtual joystick and buttons. This time though, it’s nice to see EA bump up the menu a bit. It’s not so plain. You get a very nice background, and a 3D soccer ball you can move around in the menu. I think soccer fans will appreciate the fact that FIFA has a quite extensive list of teams and full team rosters. Keeping in mind I’m on a iPodTouch2G, I’d say the graphics are pretty darn good, which I must give EA props to considering how fast moving Read More
FIFA 10
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Oct 2009 15:20:55 UTC +00:00
FIFA 10 is officially the premiere soccer game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Featuring many of the options and controls of its big brother on the consoles, players will be able to control their favorite team or create their own player to control. The controls of this game a pretty decent with a virtual joystick and a large number of passes that can be performed with just the two buttons on screen. With a slide or a double tap, players can execute a through ball or pop the ball up to lob it over the heads of the opposing team. The game flowed very smooth overall but I wasn't without my concerns. The main concern that comes up almost immediately is the almost always present framerate issues. The game runs smooth, but it will occasionally get framerate hiccups that will eventually get annoying. The AI in the game does a Read More

By Will on July 27th, 2009 In the first installment of Monday Morning App HQ, I talk about EDGE, the App Store organization, the developing App Store social network battle, and reveal the inaugural apps of the week. Random musings of the app store. Removal of EDGE from the App Store Hey Tim, why don't you actually make something? EDGE, a simply fantastic game, has been removed yet again from the App Store, due to a trademark dispute with Tim Langdell. For those who don’t know, Langdell is a leech who hasn’t made a game in over 15 years, instead making his living by suing any game with “edge” in the name. Good thing there’s the IGDA, or international game developers association, whose mission is to “advance the careers and enhance the lives of game developers by connecting members with their peers, promoting professional development, and advocating on issues that affect Read More

Calendar16 Mon, 05 Oct 2009 13:40:44 UTC +00:00

EA's 'FIFA 10' – A Solid But Imperfect Soccer Experience
Calendar16 Fri, 02 Oct 2009 18:04:12 UTC +00:00
EA's FIFA franchise carries a 16 year history of creating a sim-like soccer experience on various console and computer systems. This, of course, has led to somewhat lofty expectations for the iPhone/iPod Touch version which is a bit of a mixed bag. FIFA 10 has a ton of content consisting of 30 leagues, 570 teams and 12,620 players as well as 20 tournaments. While some may take issue with specific team omissions, let’s not forget the depth of content that is included. FIFA offers 4 levels of difficulty: Amateur, Semi-Pro, Professional, and World Class, and 5 modes of play: Tournament, Manager, Penalty, Training and Be A Pro. There is also a local Wi-Fi mode in which you can play against your friends. Tournament mode allows you to play in any of 20 tournaments and is where most will spend their time. The presentation of the different groupings and post-games scores are Read More

I'd suggest enhancing the graphics to make it look like the FIFA 10 that will be of the XBOX 360, PS3, etc. Add more features that were also explained for the console versions to the iPhone version. Then this would be the ultimate football game.
Best iPhone game yet!

Let me be one of the first to say that this is as real as it gets for a gaming console such as the iPhone! Great gameplay and intuitive controls. The only downside is the lack of Online playing ability but at least it has WIFI. Took a little bit of time to get used to the switch in controls from Real Soccer 9 and 10, but I'll manage. Awesome addition to my soccer collection and worth the money, in my opinion!!
Spectacular!
My wife forbids a Ducati 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I had my suspicions playing X2 Football 2009 that that was actually some kind of secret trial version of FIFA, and I was right. I played Real Soccer 2009 till I was blue in the face and loved it. The first time I read about X2, I was dubious. I downloaded the free trial and hated it and forgot about it. But a month later, it kept nagging at me - mainly because I wad getting sick of Real Soccer's inadequacies. To wit: the game was smooth, but comically fast and easy. It was less a simulation than an arcade game. Now, that was fine at first, but it got a bit tiresome and when you tried to pump up the difficulty, it just made the game even faster. I finally tried the full $7 version of X2 and was an instant convert. The physics of the players and the ball were just in a whole different league. The ball actually bounced like a ball! I never went back to Real Soccer. I've only played FIFA 10 for a bit, but it's obvious that it is much more like X2 than Real. Looks incredible, feels incredible, and the names- finally- are correct. I will likely be playing this for several hundred hours until FIFA 11 comes out. Hands down the best game on the IPhone. Sets a very high bar indeed.

Players are much easier to control than Real Soccer. Gameplay is smoother more complex and the player names are real. Gameloft's game is an adequate game but if you're going to poney up 7 bucks for it. You might as well add the extra 3 and get the real thing. This 10 bucks will not disappoint you. Well worth it.
Finally!!

Great game, nice graphics and the real teams, player names, etc... There are some graphic bugs instead that really need to be fixed, sometimes the players hair change style and color while playing, overall a very nice game.
Bad control
h00ligan 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Decent gfx. Good sound. Questionable referees. BAD control. I was so excited for this game. But based on the x2 demo I am thinking I made the wrong choice. The control stick is just bad. Not floating. Boo. Unresponsive. Boo. Sloppy feedback. Boo. Hopefully an update will help. EA should have bought the x2 offering and improved it with licensing. Don't get caught in first day hype like I did. At least wait for more reviews.
Come on!!

Plz EA i love fifa but this is like a crappy version of real football, x2 analog is better, the graphics arent good, and the framerate is wierd plz fix, i love ur games but plz dont treat the iphone like this, fifa should kick all the other soccer games' butts, and comparingbit to real soccer, we should say u cant compare to garbage, so plz EA fix it so we can say that, and also zlatan ibrahimovic doesnt have big and blonde hair, and the mexican, all look the same!! What's up with that
WOW

This game is amazing. In my opinion the best soccer game on the market must have.
Improvement and Updates Needed
Mammoudy 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
The players control has some bugs that makes them going on the opposite direction instead of where you are going towards the opponent. The players movement need to be more flexible like soccer moves instead of the Robot moves. Fans songs during the match need to be updated and the Substitution Mode where you can change players during the match by seeing the Coach, Linesman, Referee and the Substitutes background need to be updated. The Audio Commentary needs to call individual players names during the match and we need to see players coming out for the match. UEFA Champions League and UEFA EUROPA League need to be added and Spain Copa Del Rey which are highly needed on the FIFA 10. International supposed to be spelled as World Cup which is the correct word and add more countries teams like Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Sierra Leaone and others that are not available on FIFA 10. African Narion Cup, Asian Nation Cup, European Nation Cup and American Nation Cup are additions also needed on the FIFA 10 with more improvement on the Players Celebrations and soccer movement which supposed to be flexible. The Joystick or Players Control need to be fix due to a bug that makes the Players going towards a different direction instead of where you want them to go. These are additions, corrections and updates urgently needed on FIFA 10. Thanks for the Good work EA.
Frustrating gameplay and nearly unusable menus

First the good: this app is fully licensed, meaning real players, real teams and real leagues. Being the only app in iTunes that can boast this meant that a lot of expectations were riding on it. I recommended that others wait for EA, as they typically produce superior games to Gameloft, instead of buying the Real Soccer title due to their fake teams, but the Real Soccer gameplay is much more enjoyable than this game where you will often feel like you are a spectator rather than actively controlling anything in the game.
This Game is a "Beta". (Explained In Review)
mag13 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
The game is a beta. It has not been tested well, but I guess this is something everyone would expect from EA. They don't have a taste of quality in their games at all.
Very slow, team colors not accurate, hard to play
Albatros6699 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
This game is a big let down. It has nothing to do with Fifa10 for psp or other platforms.
It's OK
Chance7aken 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
It's a good game but needs updates X2 is so much better with graphics, controls and ease of play. The controls in this game are sometimes unresponsive and makes it sucky to play. At least like real football u can cross and lob pass in X2 in this game u have to do so much to actually play the game it takes the fun out of it...I honestly see that this game has a lot of potential but as of right now I prefer X2. I feel like I wasted my money being the big football fan I am with the hype getting this so early.
It's a shame
Lookadeez 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Gameloft should have the official license to do this, not EA. Real Soccer is killing this one in terms of a good game experience. Graphics are better, controls better, skill requirement deeper and more rich. Uh uh EA, I've been a fan for years ( since C64 games... Yeah) but y'all have to step it up on this, AND the Madden you released.

FIFA 2010
Ramiron93 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Why are people complaining about graphics and stuff like that. I mean hello it's an iPod game not a Ps3 it's never going to be like the other systems. I think it's a great game considering that it has much more game modes than RealSoccer.
EA woefully disappoints
tyfortehlulz 2.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I don't even know where to start on this game.
Ok to start
MJHDVM2009 3.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Certainly the best presentation of any of iPhone's soccer offerings. Liking the MLS license, though kits for more than MLS and EPL would have been nice. Plays a bit looser than RealSoccer, which takes some getting used to.
Great Game!
An Office Fan 5.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I have read several people complain about lagging controls. I am iPhone developer and you need to understand that your iPhone is really a computer. When you install such a complicated app, as FIFA 10, you need to restart your device. Heres what I did:
Finally

BOCA vs river plate - PLEASE fix the Super Classico!
BOCA JRS. 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Finally here ...and they still couldn't take the time to get Boca or river's shirts right!? Atleast they have the current roster and names. river's shirt is close ... kind of (should be red diagonal stripe not across). Boca's home is dark stripes, should be BLUE with yellow across. Gameplay is good over all, there are some glitches. Presentation is superb but I'm already getting tired of the opening song and we are on day 1.
Awesome BUT!!

EA mananeg to make a good franchise (FIFA) looks, feels, plays absolutely terrible with this game, im a huge fan of Fifa but this game doesnt honor the name it carries at all, pure lame, i wish i could get my $10 back!
FIFA 10 The Best.
Diego sabino 4.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
I found very good FIFA 10, so I should have the A and B buttons larger, and when the player has a lot area of the goal means he is lent, and pick the faces of the players could be better.
Bad control -disappointing
h00ligan 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Decent gfx. With the expense of this game, I really think you should look at x2 or rs2010(haven't played). The player literally runs in the opposite direction to where you are pointing the analog stick. Also. The commentary is not good. Clipped and unclear. The people that are over the moon with this game likely have the first day excitement bug. Because this really isn't a good game (yet and an update could presumably fix). Bottom line. Don't spend the money on this. Ea has a bad history of post release support which unfortunately dashes my hopes of this becoming the game it should be. One final thought. It is glaringly obvious they put way more time into madden. The controls gfx and sound are all way better on madden. Particularly when it comes to the analog stick. Which is noticably higher on the screen in FIFA and makes blocking the screen worse. I wonder why they don't offer an option to place the stick. Personally. I'd like it at the top. Perhaps I could see more field.
Really EA?
Jedi2day 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
Does NOT feel like an EA game at all. Glitchy and bad bad controls. I want my money back.
