A new free Android (News - Alert) app was released by the online shopping list and recipe search service company, ZipList. The new app enables users to create and share grocery lists, as well as search recipes using their mobile devices while on-the-go. In addition to creating grocery lists, users can use the app to automatically categorize items, sort lists by aisle or store, and update lists on the web or by text message, e-mail or instant message. Users cannot only search the huge database of recipes, but also share grocery ingredients using a single click online shopping list tool and save the browsed recipes in one universal recipe box. In a press release, Geoff Allen, founder and CEO of ZipList, said, “A shopping list app is one of the easiest ways to manage your grocery shopping, saving time in-store and reducing impulse purchases. The ZipList app enables users to sync and share lists that are created both on the web and on other mobile devices. Users can also search for recipes from a variety of sources and add ingredients to the list with one click, helping to streamline the overall grocery shopping experience.” Some of the key features of the new Android app include creation and updating of shopping lists, syncing of real-time shopping list between the new Android app, the Web, mobile Web browsers on Blackberry, iPhone, Palm and Microsoft (News - Alert) phones, and ZipList apps running on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. Users can scan product barcodes with the help of the Smartphone camera so as to add specific branded items. Product barcodes can also be manually entered incase of Android phones without camera.
