Hit The Lanes Again In Flick Bowling 2
Calendar16 Tue, 23 Mar 2010 17:21:43 UTC +00:00
Freeverse’s time traveling Flick Bowling sequel, Flick Bowling 2, has arrived in the App Store.  Do you have what it takes to outduel the likes of Cleopatra, Genghis Khan, and the evil Baron Von Schtopwatch at the lanes? Besides featuring updated 3D graphics, Flick Bowling 2‘s main draw should be its new and refined bowling mechanic.  To throw the ball perfectly straight, just flick from the bottom of the screen to the top.  If you want to add a nice spin to your ball, position your character on a side of the lane and flick and drag in the other direction.  The controls may take a moment to get used to, but it offers a more rewarding experience. Flick Bowling 2 also features a new story mode where your character travels through time taking on famous historical figures in their own unique bowling lanes.  You will also be able to play Read More
Posted 02/23/2010 at 7:41am | by J.R. Bookwalter Ladies and gentlemen, the consolidation of iPhone gaming companies has begun! Will startup ngmoco be the Godzilla of App Store gaming? TechCrunch is reporting that iPhone game startup ngmoco has raised a $25 million series C round and taken its first step toward dominance in the App Store by acquiring Freeverse, creator of such popular games as Moto Chaser, Flick Bowling and Flick Fishing. The financing round was led by Institutional Venture Partners, with existing shareholders Kleiner Perkins, Norwest Venture Partners and Maples Investments also participating. That brings ngmoco’s total capital raised to $40.6 million -- which yet again proves that iPhone gaming is indeed nothing to sneeze at. ngmoco CEO Neil Young (not to be confused with the performer of the same name) claims that he wants to “amass enough scale to accelerate away from the pack,” and the swallowing up of Read More
Eleven iPhone games I won't delete
Calendar16 Tue, 08 Sep 2009 20:30:00 UTC +00:00
This won't be a detailed review of eleven games. This is a quick list of games that I've found impossible to remove from my iPhone -- some for fun, some for kid entertainment and some just because they are cool to show off. Several are free, some I caught on sale, but ones like Fieldrunners and Sway I'd buy at any price. Cro-Mag Rally [iTunes link] -- I used to play this on the older PPC-based iMacs and it was also an early entrant to the store. Cro-Mag is cute but it also plays exceedingly well. If you want something like Mario Kart on your iPhone, this is about as close as I've found. For a quick racing game that nearly anyone can enjoy, Cro-Mag is a true iPhone "classic." MotionX Dice [iTunes link] -- You never know when you're doing to need some dice. Plus, MotionX gives this app away, Read More

Just add these 5 things and it will be perfect!
Dr. Macenstein 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This addresses most of my problems with 300 Bowl. However, a few thing needed
Awesome Lebowski Tribute!!!
Doctor Spin 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is so much better than 300! This game has everything you'd want from a bowling game. I like that you can increase the difficulty. Only addition I'd make is a first person view, BUT I love the fact that the included bowling character 'Jeffrey' is a tribute to the BIG Lebowski. Rockin! Make us a Donnie and an Arthur please!!!!
Great value
Statie7104 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
So much better then the other bowling game. Graphics, replay value and just fun - worth the money. Great use of iPhone
Severely unfinished
DVDdude 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Out of all the apps I've purchased, this is the only one I wish I could get a refund for.
!
WMDMiN 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Good graphics good gameplay good app. Needs better flick control and spin.
This game has amazing graphics and gameplay
Bobby Digital 1549 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Wow, this game looks great, and is so much fun to play! I really like the control this game gives you, more games should try to incorporate new ideas to control a game, like this one. This really pushes the limit of where games are going.
Does not work!!!
Saltgoddess 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
App will not load. It just shuts down when opened. Want a refund!!!
Rich experience.

If you like bowling it's the best choice I've seen. The graphics run smoothly. I want the environment to have better physics though. This review is intended to be directed at Freeverse, Inc. You're very close to a 4-Star Game here. The pins don't clip each other and don't bounce around in a realistic way. If they did the game would be much better. I don't know if the resulting game is a compromise due to processor constraint, so it may be pointless to speak about it this way. I just want the pins to fall as realistically as possible. The sound needs to be more realistic as well. The ambient sound is realistic but the bowling effects are not. It seems to me that it's a lot to ask though. But when I see a pin roll through another pin I think I've been robbed of some chaos that would heighten the solid experience even more. Thank you for making such a nice little game though. I'm happy with it overall.
great graphics, needs more control!
Vaelsh 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
The game is in general, great, with PLENTY of choice of balls, and several choices of players too. Yet it is lacking in control. I cannot get the ball to spin even a little bit. Please fix this, making for the abilty to spin the ball more by swiping and touching the screen. Other than that, it is a wonderful game! Buy it! It still needs work but is well worth getting now, and is well worth the $. Enjoy it!
Great game but Badly needs spin
kernel_sanders 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Gorgeous graphics. A lot of fun to play. But the serious bowler is interested in one thing: Spin. I need to be able to impart spin to the ball. The other competing game "300" for all it's lacking, allows you to spin the ball. A lot of the joy in bowling comes from imparting spin and getting the ball to hook. Sorely missed. But still lots of fun. Also, what's the deal with the changing balls? Pro bowlers have balls that hook more, or go straight, or in between. Randomizing the ball just makes it one more tedious thing to do each round. It would be great to be able to select balls that had different behavior on the lanes. Also, how about making the different characters have a natural "style" on the lane. Ie. the big guys looks like a cranker. The nerdy guy looks like a regulation hook bowler. And have a lefty in there, and other bowling styles for good measure. Great game though. In spite of these shortcomings a very fun game. Keep up the good work!
good bowling game
Mikenificent.net 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I purchased 300 bowl but this game blows that game away. With the update coming this game will be even better
Great game! Some suggestions freeverse!!
bcase3 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I like this game a lot. A few flaws that I'd like to point out in hopes the developer fixes. 1) restoring a previous game is imperative. I was just interrupted in the 9th frame and had to start all over. 2) a championship option at different locations is needed to set things game above all. Gameplay is flawless and so are graphics. Adding those two would make for a longer and better game. Honestly, what am I competing for? High scores don't have my name and I play the computer for no prize Build this freeverse.
Great game
Mbills279 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
Really fun. I tried the other bowling game 300 and this is far better. Some improvements: better hook shot and better physics on the pins. Have the pins move more realistically. Like in wii bowling. Be able to create your own player and keep stats. Choosing ball size. And left right handed bowlers..for the leftys out there. Also touch screen to not watch pins resetting. I also saw a bug where the pins didn't reset and the game would give me a strike for knocking down three pins or whatever pins where left. One more thing I thought of. Use accelometer and have it where u can play it like wii bowling with a different camera angle behind the player. Like that igolf game. That way you'll have two gameplay options.
My favorite iPhone game!!
Fototravis 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Most of the games I look at I play once and that's it. This one is addicting! Great graphics and lots of fun. There is a bug though, sometimes it will cause a pin to go through another pin and not knock it down.
Loads of fun
hdtravel 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Very fun, downright addictive. You will love it.
This is great!
Lbarnwell 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game blows 300 bowl out of the water. I love it. It is easy to play as well. This can get addictive as well.
Very fun
adbjmb 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game is very fun to play. It has nice graphics and the game play is enjoyable. Character options are a plus, and I even liked the option to choose the ball that you want. You can challenge the cpu or a few friends. I also like how you can control the speed of the ball but there needs to be an update for spin . Over all worth the price. Good job
Great Bowling Game
iPhoneJunky 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This bowling game is great.
"Flick-Bowl" App
iphone-champ! 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
I bough this app on 10/07/08. It crashed the first time I tried to load it. The four subsequent attempts were in vein. I still have not been able to use it. I wonder if the developer is laughing at the people who fell for this app. Please.... BUYER BE WARE! Clearly this app is not what it claims to be. The creator(s) should either fix it or refund everyone who has given a dollar for nothing in return.
Best bowling game available
Techmate 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
This game is great! Super graphics and great gameplay. Play against the computer with a range of difficulties or if you have a friend with you, play against your friend. Nice realistic bowling alley sound effects to go with it. The quality of the game is what you might expect from a $9.99 game, but for a $1 its a deal.
Just spent $.99 for a screen shot!
LarryMortgage 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
To add to all of the other problems I'm experiencing with 2.1 software update, I just purchased Flick Bowling as an upgrade to 300 Bowl. It took awhile to even get it to download and now that it is, all I get is the opening screen and then it crashes. Guess I see why the price has dropped...
NIce but...
smithyjohn 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
This game is nice for the eyes, but the gameplay is too simple. I would recommend it for non bowling players. If you just want to kill time with a nice game, then go for it.
Not quit ready for prime time....
Tboomer 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
....but still a worthy effort, and slightly more fun and intuitive then the other bowling game. The bowling app is proving to be one of the more difficult games for developers to create. There is so much nuance involved that developers often give up. The vesion for the Nintendo Wii is probably the most fun, mostly b/c of the controller. But even Nintendo's game is arguably the weakest of all the Wii sports games. The best feature of this game is the ball control. It comes pretty close to being a four star game. I'm not sure what it would take to get it there. Maybe more inputs for throwing, curve etc. Good luck...
Spin!!!
slimtrimkid 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great game - Please add spin!
