It's iPad day and many of you are looking for the best Retina-capable apps to install on your new Apple tablet. Apple's got you covered with a section of the iTunes app store dedicated to apps updated to support the iPad's new retina display. Apple's list will get you started, but it isn't exhaustive and only includes major apps like Tweetbot and Evernote. There are many other retina-ready apps that are not being showcased by Apple. For major developers like EA or Rovio, it usually doesn't take too long to rouse Apple's app cops to clear out the duplicates, but less well-connected devs may find themselves frustrated by copies that don't get the attention of the authorities. Alan Soju of Breaking Art was surprised to discover this week that some of his apps (Flickr HD, Beer In Japan & more) had identical twins in the App Store, all from a single developer: Tamsung Co. Flickr HD (or flickr hd, as it's styled in the App Store) just got a nice update recently to version 6.0, and it's quite an excellent way to browse and view the popular photo-sharing site Flickr on an iOS device. The latest version brings a feature called "Instaswitch," which will automatically change the picture shown on the app every single minute, right on the minute (I guess it loads up in the background). The app can also display a clock and the photo information on the screen, so you can use your iOS device as a digital photo frame and bring shots in directly from your Flickr account, public photos from someone you know or even Flickr's own favorites feed.
