posted by Joe Rossignol on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:32 pm.   Today only, Electronic Arts is offering two of their popular iOS titles for absolutely free. Flight Control, regularly 99 cents, is free today for the first time since its March 2009 release on the App Store. Flight Control, in the words of EA, is a game where you must touch and drag the aircraft to their landing zones and avoid collisions. There are six airfields including the Original, Beach, Windy, Australian Outback, Aircraft Carrier and the new Storm Airfield each with unique characteristics and challenges. Over 4,000,000 copies of Flight Control have been sold since its release over two-and-a-half years ago, making it one of the more successful titles available on the App Store. Similarly, Mirror’s Edge™ is also a regularly 99 cents game that has been discounted to free as part of EA’s daily deal for December Read More
Flight Control was one of the original runaway successes of the iOS gaming era, and when Electronic Arts released an iPad version, its sales went crazy overnight. Releases on just about every other platform, including the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, followed. If for some reason you are one of the few that doesn’t already own Flight Control and Flight Control HD, EA has put both games on sale as part of their EA Daily Deals promotion. We haven’t even told you the best part yet! When we said the games were on sale, what we actually meant was you can now pick both Flight Control and Flight Control HD up for absolutely nothing. Free. Gratis. Etc… Now you really do have no excuse for not being addicted to landing those little planes and helicopters, whether you prefer the iPhone or iPad version. There’s just something about drawing landing paths with Read More

Freebie Alert: 'Flight Control' and 'Flight Control HD'
Calendar16 Sat, 10 Dec 2011 05:39:28 UTC +00:00
Now here's something I was never expecting. As part of the EA Daily Deals program this holiday season, Flight Control [Free] and Flight Control HD [Free] have had their prices slashed to zero dollars. Flight Control is about as classic as games get for iOS. It not only has won a pile full of awards since it was released, it's single handedly responsible for popularizing the whole "line drawing" and "chaos management" family of games. Everyone needs to download it while it's free, which from the looks of it, is today only. App Store Links:    Flight Control, Free     Flight Control HD, Free (iPad Only) iTunes Link: Doodle Jink is upgraded to v1.10 at present. Doodle Jink is a fantastic game, once tried, you are not going to stop! You will need all your concentration to avoid mass number of bullets and bombs crashing your aero-craft. While experiencing the excitement, you can share Read More

iPhone Games in Real Life [Video]
Calendar16 Fri, 02 Dec 2011 19:44:42 UTC +00:00
If you’re a small band looking to get some attention, what better idea than releasing a music video featuring some of the most popular games for iPhone? Australian band Hey Geronimo understands that shooting a video featuring some of our favorite games, namely Plants vs. Zombies, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Flight Control, and Fruit Ninja, is always a sure hit with iOS geeks like us, especially when you bring those games to life… The music is actually pretty good, too! If you like it, you can get it from iTunes here. What do you think? Read More
Guys, Christmas is right around the corner. Real Racing creators Firemint delicately reminded us of that we're zeroing in on the holiest of holidays with one well-positioned holiday-themed update to its awesome puzzle game, [$.99 / HD]. Starting now with an update, World 1 in Spy Mouse and Spy Mouse HD have been turned into winter-y paradises, complete with snow, candy canes, and other decorations. The team has also turned the game's icon on its head with a bit of Christmas cheer and even added a new challenge to Agent Squeak's backpack. [$.99 / Lite] for the iPhone and iPod Touch have also been updated, though not with anything Christmas-related. These two versions now have a new level featuring a vicious thunderstorm with lightning that can damage your planes. The HD version [$4.99], on the other hand, now rocks a "Moon Base" map with asteroids and four new vehicles: land shuttles, Read More
Flight Control, a touch-based game that’s all about directing aircraft to the proper runways to prevent mid-air collisions, is a lot of fun to play on a tablet device. You simply trace a line from planes and helicopters to guide them to their matching runways. In practice, it’s a hectic experience that requires players to juggle a lot of elements at once. Planes start to come faster and faster as time goes on, requiring you to not only get them to their destinations, but to keep them from crashing into each other. The more you can land before a collision, the higher your score. Flight Control comes with a number of airports to play with, but in the end, it’s pretty much the same experience. It’s a little pricey but also an addictive title that’s been extremely popular on a lot of devices. On tablets, it really hits a stride, and Read More
'Spy Mouse' Review – Firemint Does It Again
Calendar16 Mon, 29 Aug 2011 20:00:26 UTC +00:00
Firemint’s Spy Mouse [$.99] probably won’t spawn a billion copycats like Flight Control [$.99 / HD] and it lacks the jaw-dropping 3D prowess of Real Racing 2 [$4.99 / HD], but it’s a mechanically solid and visually pleasing game that, in addition to being flat-out entertaining, breaks down a lot of stealth game barriers of entry. Basically, I'm just saying it's really good. Stealth games are notoriously fickle things; genetically linked to arcade stock that treats players like quarter-pumping cattle, stealth’s central conceits have revolved around failure, punishment, and the gaming of its systems instead of things like fun and rewards. Spy Mouse mitigates a lot of the not-so-fabulous parts of its mechanics by being pretty up-front about its moment-to-moment stealth: it clearly shows you enemy pathways, its top-down perspective quickly gives you a handle on what you can do and when, and it’s mechanically simple, which eliminates the need to execute grand schemes Read More
The hardest thing about reviewing Pigs in Trees [99c / HD] is deciding which part to praise first, because there's just so many things I like about it. Launching the app leads into a delightful animated trailer which introduces the family of pigs who reside in a tree and the woodpeckers, who (obviously) like to peck on wood.  Did you spot the tension there? (Hint: They both want the tree.) This game from PAN Vision and Tactile Entertainment represents a role reversal from Angry Birds [99c / Lite] as the pigs are the good guys and the aggressive birds are the nasty villains. Pigs in Trees will easily draw comparisons to Flight Control [99c] or Harbor Master [$1.99], since you use your finger to draw the flight path for a vehicle, from a top-down 2D perspective. In this game, the piggy fighter-pilot is trying to eliminate the noisy incoming woodpeckers, before Read More
The line-drawing genre has long been dominated by Firemint's outstanding Flight Control [$0.99 / HD]. It is the standard by which all similar games are inevitably judged, and with good reason -- it's the granddaddy of the genre. But maybe there's room for new games in the market, and in our hearts. It's been over two years since Flight Control was released. Could it be time for a break, time to see other line-drawing games? If so, you won't go wrong with Chillingo and Infinite Degree's Pollen Count [$0.99 / HD]. It's a game that didn't sell me with screenshots or trailers -- the art is a bit clumsy -- but it comes through where it counts. By drawing a line on screen from bee A to point B, you direct your bees to collect pollen from flowers and deliver it to the hive. They need to reach both targets without Read More
Flight Control Dev Announces "Agent Squeek"
Calendar16 Tue, 01 Mar 2011 15:32:07 UTC +00:00
Posted 03/01/2011 at 7:32am | by Andrew Groen Ordinarily, when a developer finds success with a particular game, their follow up project generally follows in a similar genre. Kairosoft's announcement yesterday of the release of Hot Springs Story is a perfect example. However, Firemint seems to have no qualms about continually reinventing themselves. Their new game is titled Agent Squeek and stars an adorable secret agent mouse. They first found extreme success with the iPhone staple, Flight Control [iTunes Link]. They then went on to create the successful Real Racing series, and now they're moving on yet again. Much of the game is still under wraps, but according to the press release iOS gamers will "play as Agent Squeek, the dashing and debonair undercover mouse. Outsmart ferocious felines and crack fiendish challenges! Sneak, sprint and strategize in your quest to save every precious piece of missing cheese." This definition leads us Read More

'Real Racing' Series Prices Getting Slashed
Calendar16 Fri, 04 Feb 2011 17:07:24 UTC +00:00
Flight Control [.99 / Free / HD] creator Firemint makes a fantastic argument with its Real Racing franchise for the iPad and iPod Touch: it says, “Hey, portable racing games can be good, too” and then proves it with sleek visuals and solid racing mechanics and design. If you’re a fan of fast things that go fast or racing with a fast thing against other fast things that go fast, Real Racing games are definite must-haves in your App Store collection. And now you can grab them all on the cheap. Over on its blog, Firemint has announced that it’s putting three of its racing games -- Real Racing, Real Racing HD, and Real Racing 2 -- on sale. For your convenience, here’s the original prices and what will become the new ones: As Firemint notes in its post, the dev doesn’t often play the App Store “game” and screw with Read More
Firemint sells three million copies of Flight Control
Calendar16 Thu, 20 Jan 2011 19:30:00 UTC +00:00
Firemint has shared some sales figures about Flight Control over on its blog. The now classic line-drawing game was recently listed in the top paid apps of all time on the App Store, and so Firemint decided to reveal a little bit about how many copies it's sold and when. The grand total is 3,881,634 copies as of their posting. The game currently sells for 99 cents, but that doesn't mean Firemint pulled in $3.8 million as Apple takes its 30 percent share as well. Firemint has also posted the chart above, showing when the most copies sold. Interesting to see that the Game Center patch gave them the biggest spike in sales, though don't forget that Flight Control was one of the first games on the service as it went live, something that certainly encouraged extra downloads. The new maps and the Retina Display support patches also gave big bumps. Read More
Apple's All-Time Top 10 Paid iPhone Apps
Calendar16 Wed, 19 Jan 2011 22:40:36 UTC +00:00
Looking for some great paid Apps? We've already looked at the good free stuff. As we mentioned with those free applications, with everything the App market has to offer, it's hard to find stuff that's worth your time. With paid Apps, not only do you want the download to be worth your time, you want it to be worth your money. Yeah, 99 cents is almost nothing, but it adds up, especially when there are a lot of junk apps out there.   Let's take a look at the stuff that gets more attention:     1) Doodle Jump – 99 cents The App description even makes sure to remind us that it's the all-time top paid iPhone App in the US App Store. We are sure they are pretty happy about that (We'd be just as thrilled). It's a simple little game in which you play that little doodle Read More
The Mac App Store has opened. If you go to Software Update on your Mac, you can download the latest version of OS X. This update includes a shiny new app on your dock called the “App Store.” Don’t get confused, this isn’t the iOS App Store on your iPhone; all of these apps are Mac-specific apps. While the Mac App Store does bring many great new apps for the Mac, many iOS apps that we all know are also available through the Mac App Store. Specifically, there are many popular games from the iOS App Store now available on the Mac. The new Mac releases of these games are basically fullscreen versions with some added features and content. And yes, you can now play Angry Birds in full, HD resolution on your 27-inch iMac… The Mac App Store borrows a lot of elements from the App Store we all have Read More
This one comes as a shock. In an age where gargantuan mega-corporations are gobbling up smaller development studios for prices reaching into the tens and hundreds of millions, everyone seems to want to play the guessing game of who the next acquisition will be. But I don't think this one crossed anybody's mind. Australian developer Firemint, who have been making games for over a decade but struck it big with their iOS titles Flight Control [99¢/Lite/HD] and Real Racing [$4.99/Lite/HD] in 2009, and more recently with Real Racing 2 [$9.99] in 2010, have struck a deal to buy fellow Aussie developer Infinite Interactive, who have existed for twice as long as Firemint and are most widely known for their Puzzle Quest series. The juicy details regarding pricing weren't disclosed, but it sounds like a happy venture for all parties involved. Infinite Interactive will consolidate its team into Firemint's in their newly Read More
The App Store can be a silly place. Looking over the past year in games, trends have become incredibly apparent. One developer releases a hit game, which then causes everyone else to take notice, often using that hit title as inspiration for their own project. We've seen it time and time again, and even Imangi Studios' previous chart-topping game Harbor Master [$1.99 / Free / HD] leaned heavily on Flight Control [99¢ / HD] for the basis of their own twist on the line drawing genre. When we first saw Max Adventure [99¢], it was in secret at GDC at a time when it seemed like everyone and their grandmother was hard at work making a dual stick shooter. The game showed some serious potential, but I had no clue how Imangi was going to compete in the increasingly crowded dual stick shooter market and how Max Adventure would stand up Read More
It should go without saying that Firemint’s Flight Control has got to be one of the first and most popular titles on both the iPhone and iPad and the team continues to deliver quality updates to the game. Today, Firemint has once again delivered a much needed update along with a surprising one. A new update just hit the App Store for Flight Control that finally brings online multiplayer to the game through Game Center. You’ll be able to invite a friend to play, or if you lack any Game Center friends, you can easily pick up a game with a random stranger who is also itching to land planes with a fellow Flight Control player. Firemint has also broken one major barrier I was waiting to be broken and that’s allowing in-game voice chat. By default, in-game voice chat is turned off, so you’ll need to enable it in order Read More
Last month we posted some news about an impending update to Flight Control HD [$4.99] that would add an online multiplayer mode to coincide with the introduction of iOS 4.2 and Game Center to iPads. As planned, just a couple of days after iOS 4.2 was introduced several weeks back, the update to Flight Control HD was released. Earlier today, the original Flight Control [99¢] for iPhone and iPod touch played catch up to its HD sibling and received a similar update adding online multiplayer using Apple's Game Center. The multiplayer mode in Flight Control is actually quite a lot of fun. For those who haven't played it before, one player takes control of the red commercial planes and the other player controls the biplanes and helicopters. As you land the aircraft you're responsible for, you simultaneously send your opponents aircraft off the edge of your own screen to appear onto Read More
After implementing the Game Center functionalities in the iPad version of Flight Control (Flight Control HD), Firemint wants to bring the same multiplayer blessing to other games it makes. Obviously, their next target is Flight Control for the iPhone and iPod Touch, which will get the mentioned update in no time (due Christmas). The same [multiplayer] feature is coming to Real Racing, allowing up to four players to race one another. Moreover, Firemint talks about the option that would allow users to restore unlocked content if their progress doesn’t match the data synced up to Firemint’s Cloudcell service. Finally, the gaming company also mentioned Real Racing 2, though not revealing much due to licensing deals with car makers. We know it will be available for both the iPhone and iPad users, but we don’t have any dates to share. In the meantime, if you don’t have some of the games mentioned, Read More
TUAW's Daily App: Bee Patrol
Calendar16 Fri, 19 Nov 2010 13:00:00 UTC +00:00
So you like Flight Control a lot, but you've conquered every map and every leaderboard on there already? Then Bee Patrol is exactly what you need. It's a fun line-drawing title that has you controlling bees back and forth between honeycombs and flowers. Unfortunately, it's not quite as polished as Flight Control, but heck, what is? Bee Patrol is still a solid line-drawing game, with nine different levels over three worlds, and two modes to play through. Worker mode is like Flight Control's survival mode, and Queen mode has you collecting as much honey as possible from the flowers available in a certain time period. The game's got both Game Center and OpenFeint integration, and the developers are promising more updates in the future as well. The iPhone version is US$0.99, and the iPad version with upsized graphics is a dollar more. There's a lite version as well, if you want Read More
Firemint's Flight Control HD coming to Mac App Store
Calendar16 Thu, 21 Oct 2010 05:45:00 UTC +00:00
The dust hasn't even settled in the wake of Apple's announcement of the Mac App Store, but one well-known developer is already on board. Firemint, creator of Flight Control for the iPhone/iPod touch and Flight Control HD for the iPad, has announced it will bring Flight Control HD to the Mac via the Mac App Store. As a matter of fact, according to Firemint, Flight Control HD is already running on the Mac. Firemint may be the first company to publicly announce support for the Mac App Store, but it's unlikely to be the last. As Erica noted earlier, a centralized hub for app distribution on Mac OS X is something many developers will find very attractive, in spite of the more restrictive environment as compared to the free-for-all market that exists now. Many developers won't find the Mac App Store to be a good fit for them and will stick Read More

By Kyle Flanigan on September 8th, 2010 Flight Control for iPhone and iPod Touch surpasses three million sales - $3814.67 on average per day. Eighteen months ago, the then-little-known developer company Firemint published Flight Control – a game where you land increasing quantities of planes on runways with a limited amount of space both on the ground and in air. It was awarded five stars across the board by 148Apps, as well as the Editor’s Choice badge. Today, Firemint has announced that sales of Flight Control have passed the three million mark – on average, a little over 5500 copies a day are bought by new users for their iPhone or iPod Touch. At $0.99 a piece, with developers earning 70% of revenue, that totals just under $2.1 million for Firemint’s work – or, to put it another way, $3814.67 a day. In other statistics, some two billion planes have been Read More
Firemint, which is probably best known or its wildly popular Flight Control game for the iPhone, posted some cool figures from its social gaming platform Cloudcell that is now connected to over 1 million gamers. They talk about two games, Real Racing and Flight Control, with most attention going to the latter. Real Racing drivers have covered 3,283,078 km in time trials and a further 1,106,445 km in league races, for a total of 4,389,523 km (2,727,523 miles). That’s almost 3,000 laps of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit, or about 2,400 laps of the Indy 500 circuit per day! As for Flight Control, players who have uploaded their scores to online leaderboards have landed a total of 2,482,735,870 aircraft in 57,235,375 games. That’s about 5,000 times the air traffic handled by LAX (Los Angeles International Airport)! In the original Greenfields map scores drop off rapidly after about 70 landings, with a Read More
Firemint’s Cloudcell to work alongside Apple Game Center
Calendar16 Fri, 03 Sep 2010 14:34:27 UTC +00:00
By Kyle Flanigan on September 3rd, 2010 CloudCell isn't evaporating, instead Firemint are using both their own platform and Apple Game Center simultaneously. Firemint, creators of Flight Control and Real Racing, have announced that a number of in-game achievements and leaderboards for their popular games will integrate with Apple’s soon-to-be-released Game Center application, built to bring iPhone and iPod Touch gamers together both socially and competitively. For Flight Control there are currently three known achievements: Safety Card (read the game tutorial); First Flights (land an aircraft on every level) and Jet Power (land 20 jets in a game). Leaderboards will also exist, presumably for each level, to see exactly who the best flight controller in the world really is, and how you stack up against your friends. Real Racing will see at least five achievements, including: Real Racer (complete a race using methods B or E); Between the Lines (win the Read More

With the undeniable popularity and success of the iPhone 4 (despite the antenna debacle), iPad, and ever-increasing Mac sales, Apple is gaining customers faster than ever. If you're thinking about making the switch, this could be your perfect setup. Component one: iPhone 4 Now in its fourth iteration, Apple's iPhone has forever changed the mobile phone landscape by thrusting touch-screen technology to the tips of every tech geek's tongue and every consumer's wish list. Despite its early and somewhat overblown issues, iPhone 4 has had record-setting sales. With the exception of the complaints from a vocal minority regarding its antenna, critics love the iPhone 4. Think of iPhone 4 as your mobile communications component in this setup. With it, you can send text messages; make calls; send e-mail, instant messages, and tweets; update Facebook; and check in with Foursquare. Of course, you can play games and download other apps to the Read More

This is a big one for most people as it’s by far one of the most popular Twitter clients for iPhone.  Now that it’s become the official client and is available for free, it’s become that much more popular.  Twitter for iPhone hasn’t disappointed and rolled out an update that not only supports fast app switching, but resolution support for the new retina display, as well as some bug fixes. Games are what most users are really looking forward to with the new display.  Read More
By Jeff Scott on June 22nd, 2010 Real Racing and Flight Control from Firemint received updates today designed to take advantage of the iPhone 4's increased screen resolution, the amazing Retina Display. The increased resolution of the iPhone 4 has been the point of a lot of conversation from the moment it was first announced. Most of the conversation focusing on if it really is a “retina display,” one with such a high pixel density that the human eye can’t see the individual pixels. And around that, most of the conversation had to do how great text will look on the display. But what about games? How will the increased resolution impact games? Can they actually approach photographic quality? Wow, that would be staggering — and I can’t wait to see it! In what I believe are the first games to be approved to take advantage of the Retina Display on Read More
In a completely unexpected turn of events, Apple seems to have authorized FedEx and UPS to begin delivering iPhone 4's early. Some people are lucky enough to have their devices out for delivery today or in some cases even already delivered. Also, Apple has confirmed that other preorders will be arriving tomorrow, an entire day ahead of the original launch date. It's hard to say whether or not Apple is just throwing ravenous preorderers a bone, or if they're potentially attempting to defray the nearly inevitable launch fiasco experienced with the iPhone 3G when AT&T's servers simply could not handle all the activations on launch day. Yesterday the developers of Carcassonne [$4.99] mentioned on Twitter that they've already got 1.1 submitted which contains high-resolution artwork for the iPhone 4, and if you own either Flight Control [99¢] or Real Racing [$4.99 / Free] updates are already on the App Store that Read More

Flight Control for iPhone to get an update soon
Calendar16 Thu, 13 May 2010 10:05:40 UTC +00:00
Firemint said that an update for their highly successful iPhone game, Flight Control, will be released soon. Here’s what’s coming: In addition, Firemont promises more vibrant colours, shadows, new map details, as well as some game performance improvements. The exact day of the update is unknown, though iTunes will eventually inform you about the new version being available. Flight Control ($0.99) [iTunes link] Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. Firemint has issued a content-rich update to Flight Control for iPhone that adds a brand new map with a new mechanic, brighter colors, and a safe fast forward button.  Did you really think you could kick that Flight Control addiction so easily? The new map, titled Windy Airfield, requires you to keep an eye on the wind sock located in the middle of the map.  As the wind changes, runways will close and reopen, forcing you to reroute all of the planes that were headed to each one until the wind changes direction again.  Planes that were already on their approach will finish the landing process, however. Firemint has also implemented the popular “safe fast-forward” function found in the iPad version of the game.  Now when you first tap the fast-forward button, it will go into safe mode, which will automatically bring the game back down to its normal speed if a Read More
The iPad version of Flight Control introduced a mechanic that allows users to safely fast-forward the game, essentially snuffing the "every plane has a destination" slow-going doldrums. A new update to the iPhone / iPod Touch version appears as if it'll do the same. According to a recent post on developer Firemint's blog, the creator has pushed out a new update to the handheld version of Flight Control that adds the fast-forward mechanic introduced in the iPad version of the game, as well as a new map, more "vibrant" visuals, and enhanced sound options. Firemint describes the new airfield as a "winter wonderland," but it could easily be dubbed a nightmare. Runways will close and open due to manic bursts of wind, ensuring a frantic play experience. Users can also give themselves a hard time on even the base map by over-utilizing the two-speed fast-forward mechanic, which can be activated by Read More
Infine, sono Read More
In just a few days Fabulapps plans on releasing its first game called CrossRoads in to the wild. CrossRoads is yet another line drawing time management game, but it sets its self apart by adding a few extra gameplay features all wrapped in a slick art style. Similar to existing games on the App Store like Car Mania [99¢], you guide cars to their destinations by drawing lines on a map. Fabulapps takes this concept a little farther by adding unique events that occur on each map. For example there is a map were you have to crush zombies in your path as you route cars around. On others, you will need to pop balloons, shake clouds off the screen, and break ice when your screen freezes over. The feature that most piqued my interest is the multiplayer mode, which allows you to play against another player with the game via Read More

The line drawing genre is exalting with a second coming: a wave of new entries at the App Store. These holy droves strive to fall away from the basic (and often copied) gameplay of Flight Control (TMA Review). And one of such innovative games is Airstrike Defense – a cross between an old-school top-down bombing game and an equally old-school attack evasion with line-drawing controls replacing the outdated Virtual D-Pad. Feel free to discuss this review of Airstrike Defense in our forums. Airstrike Defense is a top-down line drawing game that is actually two completely different games moulded into one. On one hand you control an F-14 fighter/bomber aircraft and have to destroy enemy ships and subs before they move off the screen. On the other hand you take control of the similar ships and have to guide them to safety evading islands, mines and incoming bombers. These two modes are Read More

Grid lock getting you down? Atinco’s World Traffic game will let you solve the world’s traffic problems, just right from your iPhone. Of course, we don’t recommend gameplay while driving. In short, World Traffic takes the concept applied by Flight Control to air traffic and brings it down to the streets of a few of the world’s major cities. It allows you to control traffic signals to keep cars and trucks moving with as little back up and as few accident deaths as possible. Slow moving buses and fast moving sports cars make things difficult and deter your from your goal. You might even have a tractor trailer or two to contend with. Lastly, you’ll be able to share your scores with with you friends and other players around the world to compare your signal switching skills. Can you beat the rush? Read More

Namco Networks is teaming up with Firemint to port the highly popular iPhone title Flight Control to other mobile platforms. The game has launched yesterday on Nintendo DSiWare, and is set to hit mobile (Java, Windows Mobile, Brew and Android) in July 2010. If you haven’t heard of Flight Control, it means you not only don’t have an iPhone or iPod Touch, but really hate reading any iStuff. After Pocket God (which got its comic book), Flight Control is the most popular game in the AppStore, having sold over two million copies. Hence, we are no surprised to see Namco jumping in and trying to get its share of the action. And that’s about all we got from Namco’s press release. Plus we have Firemint’s CEO Robert Murray’s words who’s obviously excited about the deal. He said: “…It will be a great feat to see our game reach an even broader Read More
25 iPhone Games That Should Rock on the iPad

Posted 02/04/2010 at 2:53pm | by Andrew Hayward Apple's iPad announcement event didn't put an especially large focus on the gaming possibilities of the new device, but what was shown demonstrated how easily developers can modify current iPhone and iPod touch apps with just a brief time investment. We've already seen how updated versions of N.O.V.A. and Need for Speed: Shift will take advantage of the iPad, but it got us thinking -- how might some of the other best-selling or beloved iPhone games use the iPad's updated features to enhance the existing experience? Here's our list of 25 games we'd love to see enhanced for the iPad, but if you have your own dream app upgrade in mind, be sure to let us know in the comments! Flight Control hits 2 million paid downloads mark!
Calendar16 Fri, 29 Jan 2010 08:28:49 UTC +00:00
It was not that long ago when we reported that Flight Control has hit the 1.5 million paid downloads mark. Now, they’ve reached another milestone – 2 million downloads! In other words, since it was released, the game has sold on average 6,000 copies a day. On Christmas Day that figure went up to 20,000, which is super-impressive. Finally, Flight Control is not the first title that has surpassed the 2 million mark – Pocket God was the first to accomplish the goal earlier this month. 'Flight Control' Lands Over 2 Million in Sales

Firemint has informed TouchArcade that Flight Control has hit over 2 million in sales over the past 10 months with an average daily sales of 6000. Peak sales were over 30,000/day in late March and reached over 20,000 on Christmas Day 2009. We listed Flight Control as one of the best games of 2009 in our year roundup. We spoke with Firemint's Alexandra Peters who reminded us that the game started as a "holiday project" last year. Firemint's CEO Rob Murray came up with the idea for Flight Control after having read multiple times that air traffic control was an incredibly stressful job but one that people absolutely loved. Peters told us, "The combination struck him as really compelling and he started prototyping. By that time we had come back from holidays, and Rob brought the game in to the studio. The 53 Best iPhone Games [IPhone Apps]
Calendar16 Thu, 14 Jan 2010 00:40:00 UTC +00:00
Scouring the App Store for the best games is a full time job. Luckily, it's a job held by the guys over at Touch Arcade. Here are their picks for the best games—and only games—available on the iPhone. While the App Store had clearly been a huge success in 2008, the continued growth and explosion of iPhone game releases in 2009 was beyond everyone's expectations. The number of apps in the App Store soared past 100,000 with hundreds of new games being released every day. We sat down trying to figure out the best iPhone games of 2009 and found the task of narrowing down the list to a select few to be near impossible. Instead, we've organized our year in review into categories with what we feel is an excellent cross section of games from 2009. iPhone Gaming: Looking Back on 2009 and Forward to 2010

With the year coming to a close, I feel confident in saying with as much authority as I can muster that 2009 has been an amazing year. Soon we will be posting the results of weeks of deliberation on what we feel were the best games, a holiday buyer's guide for people who opened an iPod touch or iPhone this Christmas, and other year-end stories highlighting the various games we feel are the "must-haves" of 2009-- But it hardly seems right to summarize the year in a few simple lists of game titles, brief synopses and links to reviews when so many remarkable games were created and events transpired that were still highly noteworthy or influential but fall outside of the rigid boundaries of "best of" listings. When the App Store first launched on July 10th, 2008, very few people, myself included, realized the full potential of a reasonably open platform Read More

Weekly App Store Picks: November 21, 2009
Calendar16 Sat, 21 Nov 2009 17:00:44 UTC +00:00
Another week passing means another batch of fresh apps pop out of the Apple approval oven and land in the App Store. As ever, I’ve selected four of the best from this week’s releases for you to check out. My top pick for this week is TimeTuner, an absolutely essential clock radio app for just about anyone who uses an alarm clock. Plus, I’ve also been looking at WorkSnug, Harbor 3D and AutoStitch. The iPhone Clock app does a valiant job of waking me up, but sometimes even Apple’s own apps need a bit of jazzing up. Enter TimeTuner, a gorgeous alarm clock app with a chic, ever-so-slightly ’80′s style. The app includes a glowing green LED clock, alongside a customizable radio tuner. Even without the alarm clock functionality, the radio tuner alone is a powerful app, certainly worth more than a couple of bucks. Powered by Radio Time, the tuner Read More

33rd Division stürmt in den App Store
Calendar16 Thu, 22 Oct 2009 08:45:37 UTC +00:00
Calendar16 Fri, 25 Sep 2009 17:57:42 UTC +00:00
If you're an iPhone developer and you've been struggling to figure out a way to get your game back on to the top 100, just get a celebrity to mention how they can't stop playing your game on a talk show. Megan Fox appeared last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and explained how addicted she is to the time management game Sally's Spa [$2.99 / Free]. The iPhone chat begins at around 3:20 remaining in the video: Since Megan Fox's plug on this nationally broadcasted talk show just last night, Sally's Spa is back on the top 100. (Position #92 and climbing as of this writing.) This isn't the first time we've seen celebrities mention iPhone games, between Demi Moore tweeting about battling Ashton Kutcher in Flight Control [99¢] or American Idol winner Jordin Sparks tweeting high scores from Harbor Master [99¢ / Free] among others. [preview] 33rd Division – Craneballs Studio
Calendar16 Mon, 21 Sep 2009 10:02:23 UTC +00:00

Flight Control iPhone game hits 1.5 million downloads
Calendar16 Tue, 08 Sep 2009 07:36:54 UTC +00:00
Flight Control is probably the single most successful iPhone game, and has been downloaded 1.5 million times. Best of all — at least for Firemint, the company behind the title — this is the number of paid downloads (the game costs 99 cents). The game was released back in the March of this year and has hit 1 million sales mark in the second half of June. It’s the beginning of September and that number climbed to 1.5 million, which is super impressive. Firemint’s CEO Robert Murray is delighted (who wouldn’t be) that they’ve reached the milestone, adding: “I’m just so incredibly grateful to all the many people around the world who have embraced Flight Control and helped us to reach this amazing milestone. There’s still a lot more Flight Control to come!” We’ll see how that goes, but considering their experience, we’ve no doubts they know what they’re doing. Dusan Read More

'Car Mania' - My Real-Life Rage Meter is Full
Calendar16 Fri, 24 Jul 2009 15:49:38 UTC +00:00
I really like Origin8 games, the Sentinel games are among my favorite on the platform, so needless to say I was fairly excited to see Car Mania [App Store] appear a few nights ago. Car Mania is an evolution on the "draw lines to direct things" genre that has become so popular between Flight Control [App Store], Harbor Master [App Store], and other spin-offs. Instead of directing boats or planes, as you may have guessed, you're directing cars around. The three included maps feature streets which oddly enough are only wide enough for one car, so you need to plan each car's route to avoid collisions. The nice thing about Car Mania is you have a rage meter which slowly gets filled as drivers wait or crash in to each other, this makes the game fairly forgiving compared to the one mistake and you're done gameplay of similar games in the Read More
27 Bluetooth-enabled Multiplayer iPhone Games
Calendar16 Mon, 20 Jul 2009 18:00:33 UTC +00:00
The iPhone/iPod 3.0 OS allows third-party applications to utilize the device’s Bluetooth capabilities for two-player games. The first (and only) application I had that supported this in an update was Flight Control, and since then, whenever my wife and I are on a train, we occupy our time playing this. The huge advantage of multiplayer Bluetooth compared with Wi-Fi is that you just need the two devices, no Wi-Fi access points or Internet connectivity is required. This is truly awesome, although as we cry, “Arrrgh sooo close!” loudly on public transport we can get some strange looks. We’ve loved playing Flight Control, but I thought that by now there must be a good number of other Bluetooth-enabled games. So I’ve searched the App Store and found the following games are the only ones that support multiplayer gameplay over Bluetooth. This list will hopefully grow soon with more complex quality titles. I absolutely love video games.  There, I said it.  Most of my time these days is spent writing about all kinds of unique iPhone apps, including games, so I rarely find the time anymore to sit down for long periods of time to play my favorite titles on my Xbox 360 or my Nintendo Wii, and that’s where my iPhone comes in handy.  I have been able to find moments throughout the day to get a little Harbor Master in here, a little Puzzle Quest in there, and sometimes I sit down for a good amount of time and play more in-depth games like Real Racing. I believe the iPhone needs more games like Real Racing.  Games that can offer deep, immersive gameplay, but can also give you that quick moment of gaming bliss, games like Vogster Entertainment’s Robocalypse – Mobile Mayhem. 'Harbor Master' and The Battle of Cannon Beach

Imangi Studios' Harbor Master [App Store], a game with a large fan following on our forums and massive international appeal (currently #3 in UK App Store) saw its first content update yesterday. From our review of the game when it was initially released: Like Flight Control [App Store] the game involves the use of the swipe gesture to safely guide your boats (planes) into their docks (landing strips). Imangi's version does do justice to the gameplay mechanic and adds a number of nice twists to make it interesting. Besides successfully docking your boats, you must also wait until they unload their cargo and then safely guide them out — all while avoiding hitting other boats. The situation can get relatively manic quickly requiring you to move some ships into holding patterns while waiting for a dock to free up. Larger boats move slower and also have more cargo to unload. As the weeks go by with iPhone OS 3.0, an unsettling realization has set in. Am I out of touch with the mainstream? I still find it immensely surprising that apps with Push Notifications are almost entirely absent from the most downloaded lists. I posed the following question on twitter. “Question for all: Why do you think few (any?) Push Notification apps have made the top 25 in the App Store?” Here are some of the responses: Simon Ings (@ingzee) I don’t think the average iPhone/touch user really understands the push concept, it doesn’t excite them like it does a geek. Nate Orloff (@nato64) New technology is hard to (implement) flawlessly to the point where the masses want/need it. Once facebook does it well… T.J. 'Coast Guard' Defense Shooter is Now Free
Calendar16 Wed, 15 Jul 2009 17:00:48 UTC +00:00
Coast Guard [App Store] is yet another fun nautical-themed game with controls similar to the other games in the Flight Control [App Store] spin-off genre. (Is that really a genre now?) The goal of the game is to move your ship by drawing lines on the screen, and sink the enemies that are attacking incoming supply ships. Tapping on hostile ships fires at them, and as every friendly ship successfully docks, one of several power ups appear nearby. Rinse and repeat until your ship sustains enough damage to sink, hopefully beat your high score, and try again. There's no indication as to how long the price drop will last, but at the current price of free, there's no reason to not download Coast Guard. Update: The price may not have dropped to Free in all stores just yet. Be sure to look before you click Buy. If not, try again later. Read More

Flight Control v1.3 Adds Peer-To-Peer Multiplayer
Calendar16 Sat, 27 Jun 2009 16:22:54 UTC +00:00
Just when you thought you may finally be able to kick your Flight Control addiction, Firemint reaches into their bag of tricks and pulls out yet another reason for you to keep playing one of the most addicting casual games available in the App Store. Yesterday evening Flight Control was updated to 1.3, which a adds peer-to-peer multiplayer mode via Bluetooth.  The new peer-to-peer multiplayer mode allows you to share Flight Control duties with a friend.  One of you will only be allowed to land the red aircraft while the other will only be allowed to land blue and yellow, but the catch is that all three colors of aircraft will appear on both of your screens.  Since you won’t be able to land all aircraft, you must direct those that you can’t land onto your friend’s screen, which will require you to work well together or you will crash and Read More

Firemint's Flight Control is one of the early games to support the 3.0 firmware's Bluetooth peer to peer gameplay. Prior to 3.0, players would have to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network in order to play any local networking games. With 3.0, all you need are two iPhones (or iPod Touches) with Bluetooth. When you set up a Peer to Peer game, you are sharing flight control duties with your friend. In this level example, one person lands all the red planes, while the other lands the yellow planes and helicopters. Seems simple but all types of planes still appear in on each screen and you need to divert them to the other player's screen still while avoiding collisions. You both share a common cumulative score for the session. A very exciting new use for the Peer to Peer gaming option in 3.0. Meanwhile, it seems that Firemint is branching Read More
Retiring from Flight Control
Calendar16 Thu, 25 Jun 2009 19:30:00 UTC +00:00
I just uninstalled it from my iPhone, and am officially retiring from Flight Control (iTunes link). It was a great four month career, I tell ya. I wanted to go out at the top of my game, and on my own terms. Despite its minimal $4.99 price tag (I think that was the price when it first came out), it has cost me much more in terms of lost bets against friends (~$20), sleepless nights, hour long stops to the restroom, and lost productivity. As with many situations like this, I don't remember exactly how I was introduced to FlightControl. For all I know, it just magically showed up on my iPhone, as if the iPhone game fairy magically came out of the sky to install it for me without my knowledge. At least that's what I'd like to believe. But what I do remember was the exact turning point of Read More
WWDC: 6 Player Wi-Fi Multiplayer Coming to 'Real Racing'
Calendar16 Thu, 11 Jun 2009 22:56:49 UTC +00:00
Events like WWDC are great... not only to put faces to names but when else would we realistically be able to talk face to face with many of the iPhone developers from around the world. Australian-based Rob Murray of Firemint was present last night to show off their new Real Racing game to the crowd and during the demo he announced that a pending update will be adding 6-way Wi-Fi Multiplayer. For those not familiar with the Real Racing, we thought the game offered an unrivaled racing experience on the iPhone. The game has been earning some much deserved recognition and is quickly making it's way to the top of the App Store charts. We caught up with Rob later in the evening to see what his plans were now that Real Racing had finally been released. Rob indicated that they still have a lot of work planned for Real Racing Read More
I have a particular affinity for trains. My father and grandfather both worked on the railroad, presumably all the live-long day. When a train rolls by, I'll make a comment about the engine or trucks or what-have-you, and my girlfriend will madly clap her hands together and yell yay twains! in a dumb voice. I love her so much. Anyway. ZAGG, the same people who make the unscratchable Invisible Shield films for various devices, released Trains, a game not unlike Flight Control, where you must route freight trains, drop off cargo, and avoid collisions. Flight Control itself recently had an update, and now includes new tropical and aircraft carrier levels. Having lost hours of time to the original level, I was thrilled to have more places to land. (My high score is 103, by the way: Post yours in comments.) Trains, on the other hand, takes the same approach, only with Read More
'Real Racing' - Now THIS Is a Racing Game.
Calendar16 Tue, 09 Jun 2009 18:55:36 UTC +00:00
While Flight Control [App Store] may be Australian developer Firemint’s runaway hit, they’ve been hard at work for months on Real Racing [App Store]. Prior to last week, all we saw of Real Racing was a screenshot or new trailer randomly pop up here and there, leaving iPhone communities all over the internet speculating what the final product would be like. I’ve found most iPhone racing games somewhat unappealing. While accelerometer tilt controls translate great to driving controls, they’ve all just felt a little flat. EA’s recently released Need For Speed Undercover [App Store] came close to quenching my thirst for a great racer on the platform, but fell short for a number of reasons, in my eyes. Poor AI combined with races that were hard to lose had me quickly growing bored of the game, despite its doing a great job at capturing the Need For Speed feel on the Read More

Get Addicted All Over Again With Flight Control v1.2
Calendar16 Wed, 03 Jun 2009 12:56:28 UTC +00:00
The App Store’s most addicting casual game just got even better.  Over the evening hours Firemint released version 1.2 of Flight Control which adds a whole bunch of new content along with a few welcomed feature additions. The idea behind Flight Control is pretty simple, just land as many aircraft as you can without having a mid-air collision.  That’s easier said than done, as certain aircraft can only land on certain runways, so you must direct the air traffic as best you can.  The game has become a huge hit because of its simple and yet addicting gameplay. Flight Control v1.2 adds two new airfields, one of which is a beachside airport and the other is an aircraft carrier.  We previously showed off tiny versions of these maps, but now you can witness them in full-screen glory.  The update also adds five new aircraft, including a seaplane and military jets.  One Read More
'Flight Control' Addicts: Mash "Update" Now!
Calendar16 Wed, 03 Jun 2009 00:42:53 UTC +00:00
The 1.2 update for Firemint's brilliant pick up and play classic, Flight Control [App Store] just landed at its destination. If for some strange reason you don't have Flight Control yet, it's a devilishly simple game where you have a single task: successfully land as many aircraft as possible. Different planes and helicopters fly in from the side of the screen, you tap them then draw a path to lead them to their runway or landing pad without colliding with anything else. The beauty of Flight Control is its simplicity. It's like Tetris in that it only takes a second to learn to play, but standing a chance at a competitive high score takes true aircraft pathing mastery. 1.2 features two new airfields, the beachside resort (seen above) and the aircraft carrier (seen below). Each new airfield also comes with new aircraft, such as the seaplane and the navy jet. Also, Read More

I decided to forgo the witty title for this post because I just couldn’t contain my own excitement for what Firemint has in store for their hit game Flight Control.  As the title states, Firemint has submitted the next update for Flight Control to Apple’s approval process, and it contains two brand spanking new airfields and aircraft. Sometime late last night, Firemint posted an update on Twitter that indicated Flight Control v1.2 was ready to go.  They failed to give any more details about the update, except, of course, for the fact that it contains two new airfields and new aircraft.  They have yet to release any new screenshots or details for any of these new items, but they do have some teeny-tiny images located on their cloudcell.com leader boards page that show exactly what’s in store. Firemint has posted two small teaser thumbnails on their Flight Control cloud cell site which seem to represent new maps for their popular Flight Control game.

“While the sample ad we’ve seen Read More
Flight Control Ultimate High Score Finally Achieved

The player who simply goes by the name “wjd4me” has achieved the ultimate Flight Control high score with 12,864 total aircraft landings.  The next closest competitor has a high score of only 6,432.  Oddly enough, wjd4me’s score is exactly double the second place competitor’s score.  Could it be a conspiracy, or is it just a coincidence? Now that you are all aware of the ultimate high score, hopefully one of you (our dear readers) can best it so we can use you to Read More
What Is The Highest Attainable Score In Flight Control?
Calendar16 Mon, 11 May 2009 15:48:50 UTC +00:00
Flight Control has to be one of the most addicting, low-cost games available for the iPhone and iPod touch.  The game is simple, just land as many aircraft as possible without causing a mid-air collision.  It sounds easy, but once you crash and burn, you instantly  just want to try and better your previous score.  With the addition of Firemint’s cloudcell technology, the game has become even more addicting by allowing you to compare scores and rankings with players around the world.  That brings us to the point, what is the highest attainable score in Flight Control? The short answer to that question is that we really have no idea.  The difficulty progression of the game eventually comes to a standstill, so really the only reason a game ever ends is because of a simple mistake.  Most of you out there who have played Flight Control already understand this more than anyone. Flight Control 1.1 Leaderboards and Sales Numbers
Calendar16 Thu, 30 Apr 2009 06:28:44 UTC +00:00
Don't look at the all time Flight Control leaderboards if you want to keep thinking you're an great Flight Control player. The highest recorded score is 3155 planes landed in a single session. Yes, Flight Control's 1.1 version update went live yesterday and now offers CloudCell integrated online leaderboards. Flight Control is, of course, Firemint's massively popular flight time-management game that remains one of our favorite iPhone games. Aside from the global scores, the update also provide a save/resume feature and some minor bug fixes. Firemint will follow with additional updates that add new airports and aircraft to the mix. Meanwhile, the team at Firemint has publicly released sales numbers for Flight Control after it's first month and a half on sale. Firemint had committed to releasing numbers well before they knew what a huge success the game would be. A summary of results is provided here: And a detailed PDF Read More

Flight Control Sells Over 700,000 Copies
Calendar16 Wed, 29 Apr 2009 14:07:10 UTC +00:00
We all knew Firemint had sold tons of copies of Flight Control through the App Store — being that it was at the top position of the paid applications list for what seemed like an eternity — but the question was, just how many copies did they sell?  Firemint decided that today was the day they would let us in on that important information, and all that can be said is… wow! Flight Control had held the top position on the paid applications list at the U.S. App Store from March, 24th through April 25th.  During that period they were able to sell 587,485 copies worldwide of the popular game, but that is just for the time it was at the number one spot.  Firemint estimates that Flight Control has sold over 700,000 copies to date. On its best day, Flight Control had sold over 35,000 copies worldwide.  In comparison, Flight Read More
Flight Control 1.1 Update Now Available
Calendar16 Wed, 29 Apr 2009 13:11:33 UTC +00:00
Flight Control had held the top position on the App Store’s paid applications list for over one month, and it was only within the last couple of days that it had finally dropped from that position.  Firemint looks to reclaim the top spot by finally releasing the very first update to Flight Control. The update contains some of the usual minor bug fixes, but the real treat is the addition of online connectivity.  Firemint has added their own Cloudcell technology which enables various online features like online high scores and leader boards, location based leader boards, Google Maps support from their website, and Twitter support.  The other big addition is autosave, so now you can leave the game without having to start all over. Even with this new update, Flight Control remains at the $.99 introductory price, so get it while it’s hot.  As always, the update is free to anyone Read More
New Flight Control Update Screenshots

We have already outlined what the Flight Control update will contain and when it should be available, but for those who just can’t wait for it to arrive, we have some brand new screenshots of some of the added features for your viewing pleasure. Firemint, the developer of Flight Control, just released three brand new screenshots from the updated version that’s set to arrive as early as tomorrow.  The screenshots display a leader board, a new ranking system, and what looks to be a Google map displaying other players locations and high scores. The addition of these features should help Flight Control maintain its grasp on the number one spot on the paid applications list.  In addition to leader boards and a ranking system, the update to Flight Control will also contain the often requested auto-save feature. Flight Control is available at the App Store for the introductory price of $.99. Read More
App Review: Flight Control
Calendar16 Sun, 19 Apr 2009 23:36:29 UTC +00:00
Flight Control from the Australian developer, Firemint is a game with a very simple concept – land aircraft while keeping them from crashing into each other. A quick look at almost any screenshot will tell you pretty much all you need to know about the game mechanics. You’re presented with an aerial view of an airport and different aircraft appear from off screen (slow jets, fast jets, light aircraft and helicopters) which you direct by simply dragging your finger from the plane, around the screen to their respective landing spot. If any planes bumps into each other it’s game over. Easy eh? You’d be surprised. Plan? What plan?Within this simple scenario there’s enough scope to keep you entertained for hours. I found some of that time was spent trying to come up with a strategy. I thought a good plan would be to direct all the aircraft clockwise around the screen Read More

Excellent game but lacks much-needed gameplay structure
reindeerhelmet 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
I'll preface this by emphasizing how addictive this game is. However, because of its total lack of structure it gets extremely frustrating and I end up wanting to play it less and less after each game ends. This is primarily because it takes far too long to get back up to where you lost -- the point of difficulty at which you can still compete comfortably. So you can play a 5 minute game, lose because 4 or 5 jumbo jets pop onto the map at the same time in the same part of the screen, start over, and then spend 4 minutes getting back up to the exact same point. In most cases those 4 minutes have been pretty wasteful as they are usually very repetitive and predictable. The last 20% of gameplay time in each game is where the challenge is.
Promising. I'm hooked!
vector4insanity 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
After 15 min. I was hooked. I'm an ATC at the busiest TRACON on the planet (SCT), and this game has potential.
I love it!
rmsutton 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've been playing this game for all of 10 minutes and I just had to let everyone know how wonderful this game is. The controls are intuitive and the game play is amazing. After the very first swipe of my finger to direct craft, I was immediately hooked! This game is unique, nothing like anything else I’ve seen in the AppStore.
beg to differ
matttttttttttmlllll 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
the game has a good concept but it hets very boring after 5 minutes. if more game modes were added i could definately rate a 4 or 5. please add more game modes!
Awesome!!!!
Joe, Ft. Lauderdale 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Flight Control is awesome!!! The object of the game is to safely land everything that comes at you by touching the object and creating a "flight path" with your finger. Sounds easy, but the game picks up and before you know it, you have 10 objects in the air to land and no space to put em'!!! Watch out, because they come from every edge of the screen. More airports and a global high score list would make this one of the best .99 cent games out there. Get it while it is on sale. Great job!!!!
Love at first flight
Cyong 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Simplistic yet complex, addictive yet frustrating. Much like a life companion, the pain and pleasure of the encounter is worth it. The only thing that I would like to see is perhaps some further options like multiple runways of the same type, or just a new feature of low fuel airplanes that you need to get in fast. Great application, and worth every penny.
Stellar!
QueenOpal 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Nothing more to say other than this game is a PLEASURE. Its aesthetically pleasing well designed retro feel coupled with simple gameplay that hides a richly rewarding and insanely addictive experience makes for a top tier iPhone game...it has quickly become my most played game - and I download MANY. Kudos to the developer - you really struck the perfect balance here. My top score as of the writing of this is 152 - how do I compare??
Need more
z21 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

Romoisjedi 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
A lot of fun for only 99 cents!!! Some different levels would be great and maybe the option to keep the music going I dig it! All in all a great fun game!
Fantastic! Addictive! Fun!
thehack 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
What a wonderful gem! How can something this simple in concept be so much fun? You'll find yourself saying "Just one more game", time and time again.
Boring
russpattykenzie 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Boring, repetitive, humdrum...etc. I don't get the 5 star reviews for this game. It grows stale FAST and has no variety to gameplay whatsoever.
Unsanely fun
tumblemonster 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is the best game on in the AppStore! It's simple concept is incredibly addicting. The object of the game is to land all four types of aircraft, each with different flight speeds sizes, without crashing them into each other. As you progress, the skies fill up! The controls are simple and fast. Great game!
Not fun
gdonald 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This doesn't work so well for people without tiny fingers. It's very difficult to aim.. by the time you get close you're covering the runway.
What's the point!?
BravesWillWin 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
All u do is fly the planes to their specific runway. I got bored the first two minutes into this game, do not buy even with discount
Addictive
Redceawl 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Highly addictive! I can't stop playing. As a real airline pilot, I think this game is really niffty. Not realistic at all, but itsnit supposed to be. Waiting for more airports and challenges! Best dollar you can spend.
Need more levels
The Jazz Listener... 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a good game but it needs more levels. Starts off with too many plains at a time. Give it a beginer level so players can get the hang of it.
Controlled chaos!
Hatrick208 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great fun and well worth the price. I would make a horrible ATC in real life, and this game confirms it! Starts out easy and quickly becomes very challenging. Great, easy control. Fun game!
Fun at first, quickly not
Mailmon 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Needs gaming levels, needs parallel runways, needs to permit planes to be sent off screen to return later to pattern, needs an approach area much larger given the heavy traffic volume that quickly builds up, needs ALTITUDE assignments as well as heading, etc., etc., etc. This game was fun for the first 15 minutes and now I don't play it at all anymore. That stated, graphics are very good, action is solid, there's a lot of potential here and I hope we're just seeing the first of many releases. I'd even pay for upgrades if some of the ideas I stated (which are necessities for ATC) are put in place. But gaming levels are essential because without them one of the fundamental game premises--the positive hit a player gets for playing more and improving--is quickly lost because no one can manage the number of objects in the field of play within 10 minutes, especially when new ones "randomly" fly in from nowhere into your traffic. It's not realistic, it's not survivable, and thus currently it's not fun. So, okay, Firemint, good job, you threw down the gauntlet... now let's see how good you really are.
Boring
daisydoodle15 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Really boring, needs other features.
I thought it was boring
Theboss17 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Boring
The entire game should be rethunk
Wiiareonfire 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Here's why: One map One difficulty One life One level No power-ups or upgrades That doesn't seem much like a game, does it? Add more maps, possiblly deduct points for a crash, add seperate levels, have power ups, like faster or slower planes. Put in multiple difficulty levels, Novice, Advanced, and Professional. I guess my point is that there's too much room for improvement. Edit: I bumped my rating to a 1 because this game is just unplayable. I can only get to 47 (My average is about 20) before there are too many of one aircraft. There should be multiple of one kind of runway. Maybe side by side. Definitely more than one helipad. All of the helicopters I ever see come from the far side of the screen. This game might get a better rating with an update or two.
Get's boring quite quickly
Alltogether 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Not a long shelf life amongst my apps.
Boring
The 5 Z's 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Not fun gets boring fast. Expect it to be free all u do is drag your finger. Ive bought over 25 games for a dollar and this is in the bottem 5
Great game but needs updates to add to content
Bony jean 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game will give you about an hour or two of fun before you get bored but it is definitley worth be money btw pocket god is just a little better because of of content (update a week) but Is only good for short bursts of fun Ps.you need more airports to choose from to make it more difficult.
Idk why its #1
EpicGAK 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
Fun but gets old SUPER fast... Really repetitive and boring...
Flyslow
Notbadgamr 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Needs levels and slower jumbos.
Needs quite a bit of improvement
MMXPX 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This app is not developed to the level it should be. It is missing the following: different maps, different levels, and different speeds. In addition, it needs the following improvements... there needs to be more runways for objects. Sense most of the objects are of the larger planes, there needs to be more runways like in other, larger airports. The screen is really small and, in short time, the screen is filled with aircraft to the point where most won't be able to keep up. There should be different levels so people can build their way up. In addition, this "one life" thing needs to change. Instead, decrease points. Let the object be to get the highest score versus most landings, and let us rank our scores on the Internet so, through the app, we can see how we all rank. In fact, to make it easier for the novice, give advance UI information and controls so it is easier to get the planes to line up and circle around the runway, like in real life. In addition, the ability to foresee where the planes will be in a future time to avoid collisions. Though this will make the game too easy, but would make for a tutorial or a beginner mode. However, this feature should be optional and off by default. Can't make the game too easy. Also, in reality, all these planes would be much further apart and there would be more room for planes to circle. There has to be a way to recreate that in a game.
Frustrating game
Kenny@southpark 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This game seems fun at first, but becomes frustrating soon. Aircrafts tend to crash into each other, and new comers always come across the flight paths you already set. With extremely luck you can score more than 50 points. But most of the time the upper cap is around 30. Makes me want to throw away my iphone most of the time after crashes and crashes. Buy this game if you only have like 5 minutes to play. You won't go far anyway, and don't even try to play again or you find youself in the same score after an hour. Hope the author can adjust the algorithm in later releases.
Can be fun, but very frustrating
mmunz 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
Looks to be a fun game, but can be disappointing because it does give you a chance to build your skills. Within minutes, you have 6 planes in your airspace and you're still trying to figure out how to land your first one. Really needs some levels that start easy and build in difficulty. It has potential if the author cares to make it better.
Great
ATController 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I giggled like a 5 year old playing this game, and I am a 50 y/o air traffic controller. Great bargain.
Great game!!!!
CENTRAL FLORIDA TRACON F11 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Great game from day one! Needs to have lives, different airports, levels, some obstructions like clouds or high buildings or restricted areas, less helos LOL, etc. It's a great game and I can't wait for an update, hopefully soon!!
Very cool
Thatguy4268 5.0 stars Version: 1.0

Awesome.
Brack50 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The best application I've purchased.
Great but needs update
Angry271234567890 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It could use more levels and planes
Great, except for one thing....
Can it b more obvious? 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
This game is great, very simple, very addictive. But I think it's lacking one thing, consistency. With this game every small yellow plane travels the same speed, every red plane travels the same speed, every blue copter as well. Also every corosponding runway is set and does not change in anyway throughout the game. So it seems this game is very consistent. So why do the planes have such a vearying landing zone? When given identicle successfull landing routes, one plane will land the second it hits the runway. The second will go halfway down the runway before it is out of play. This is very strange to me, and I have yet to find any consistancy or reason for this. If EVERYTHING was set in this game, it would be 100% fair, because everyone would be cinsistant with the next player, not dealing with this random rule, please fix.
Love it
gamer 123 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
So fun
Amazing!
Big Proch 4.0 stars Version: 1.1
This game is soooooo much fun!!! Anyone who isn't sure about his game trust me, it is unreal. It is so addictive. But there are some flaws that would make it so much better (which is pretty hard to do) if they were fixed/added:
Best app in the store, hands down.
OldDaedalus 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I held off on getting this app for a while - I couldn't justify spending a buck on a game that seemed to be so simple and repetitive. Instead, I bought Pocket God. (Big mistake. Don't believe the hype.) Disappointed with that purchase, I almost didn't buy Flight Control, fearing that it would be more of the same - pointless, mindless dross that got old a minute after I had installed it. Instead, I haven't been able to put this thing down.
A solid app.
mendter 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
I think they've fixed it. It has enough features and levels to actually be entertaining for a while. Plus you'll keep playing to keep your score on the leaderboards.

mojo ben 5.0 stars Version: 1.2
Flight Control is sort of a time management game but not exactly. Instead of doing a bunch of different tasks at one time, you have one single, but extremely difficult, task. It is to direct four different types of aircraft into three different runways. This is accomplished by drawing a line from the aircraft to its landing station. The different colored landing stations correspond to the different colored aircraft. For example, blue aircraft need to land in the blue landing station. After awhile, you end up with many aircraft flying in all different directions on your screen as you desperately try to direct them to the correct landing station. The game ends when two aircraft crash into each other. At the main menu you can click “stats” to look at… well, your stats of course. Some include how many aircraft you have landed, your high score and even which kind of aircraft you have crashed the most. There are 8 different aircraft and three different maps so you wont get bored for a long time to come! This is an amazing pick up and play game for any person.
Sheer brilliance.

Many moons ago, when I saw "Flight Control" at number one, I thought to myself, "Directing airplanes? How much fun could THAT be?"
Fun game

Not that Fun
realkuhl 3.0 stars Version: 1.6
A friend recommended this to me - so I got it. It's okay but kind of boring. Graphics are simple, wish there was more variety instead of just looking over an airport keeping little icons from hitting each other..... ability to change altitude ?
An absolute must!!
duck_butter 5.0 stars Version: 1.6
Let me put it this way..... I purchased my I-Pod Touch for THIS game! I know, call me insane. I didn't want to go to AT&T to get the I-Phone and I already have 2 other I-Pods for music. Although I've seen other cool apps before that I liked, this game is the one that actually made me walk into the Apple store the next day and buy the I-Pod Touch so that I could play this game. At a .99 price tag, Flight Control is an absolute steal! I paid $300 for mine, lol! Deceptively simple and highly addictive...BEWARE!!
