posted by Joe Rossignol on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:32 pm.   Today only, Electronic Arts is offering two of their popular iOS titles for absolutely free. Flight Control, regularly 99 cents, is free today for the first time since its March 2009 release on the App Store. Flight Control, in the words of EA, is a game where you must touch and drag the aircraft to their landing zones and avoid collisions. There are six airfields including the Original, Beach, Windy, Australian Outback, Aircraft Carrier and the new Storm Airfield each with unique characteristics and challenges. Over 4,000,000 copies of Flight Control have been sold since its release over two-and-a-half years ago, making it one of the more successful titles available on the App Store. Similarly, Mirror’s Edge™ is also a regularly 99 cents game that has been discounted to free as part of EA’s daily deal for December Read More
Flight Control was one of the original runaway successes of the iOS gaming era, and when Electronic Arts released an iPad version, its sales went crazy overnight. Releases on just about every other platform, including the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, followed. If for some reason you are one of the few that doesn’t already own Flight Control and Flight Control HD, EA has put both games on sale as part of their EA Daily Deals promotion. We haven’t even told you the best part yet! When we said the games were on sale, what we actually meant was you can now pick both Flight Control and Flight Control HD up for absolutely nothing. Free. Gratis. Etc… Now you really do have no excuse for not being addicted to landing those little planes and helicopters, whether you prefer the iPhone or iPad version. There’s just something about drawing landing paths with Read More

Freebie Alert: 'Flight Control' and 'Flight Control HD'
Calendar16 Sat, 10 Dec 2011 05:39:28 UTC +00:00
Now here's something I was never expecting. As part of the EA Daily Deals program this holiday season, Flight Control [Free] and Flight Control HD [Free] have had their prices slashed to zero dollars. Flight Control is about as classic as games get for iOS. It not only has won a pile full of awards since it was released, it's single handedly responsible for popularizing the whole "line drawing" and "chaos management" family of games. Everyone needs to download it while it's free, which from the looks of it, is today only. App Store Links:    Flight Control, Free     Flight Control HD, Free (iPad Only) iTunes Link: Doodle Jink is upgraded to v1.10 at present. Doodle Jink is a fantastic game, once tried, you are not going to stop! You will need all your concentration to avoid mass number of bullets and bombs crashing your aero-craft. While experiencing the excitement, you can share Read More
Guys, Christmas is right around the corner. Real Racing creators Firemint delicately reminded us of that we're zeroing in on the holiest of holidays with one well-positioned holiday-themed update to its awesome puzzle game, [$.99 / HD]. Starting now with an update, World 1 in Spy Mouse and Spy Mouse HD have been turned into winter-y paradises, complete with snow, candy canes, and other decorations. The team has also turned the game's icon on its head with a bit of Christmas cheer and even added a new challenge to Agent Squeak's backpack. [$.99 / Lite] for the iPhone and iPod Touch have also been updated, though not with anything Christmas-related. These two versions now have a new level featuring a vicious thunderstorm with lightning that can damage your planes. The HD version [$4.99], on the other hand, now rocks a "Moon Base" map with asteroids and four new vehicles: land shuttles, Read More

'Spy Mouse' Review – Firemint Does It Again
Calendar16 Mon, 29 Aug 2011 20:00:26 UTC +00:00
Firemint’s Spy Mouse [$.99] probably won’t spawn a billion copycats like Flight Control [$.99 / HD] and it lacks the jaw-dropping 3D prowess of Real Racing 2 [$4.99 / HD], but it’s a mechanically solid and visually pleasing game that, in addition to being flat-out entertaining, breaks down a lot of stealth game barriers of entry. Basically, I'm just saying it's really good. Stealth games are notoriously fickle things; genetically linked to arcade stock that treats players like quarter-pumping cattle, stealth’s central conceits have revolved around failure, punishment, and the gaming of its systems instead of things like fun and rewards. Spy Mouse mitigates a lot of the not-so-fabulous parts of its mechanics by being pretty up-front about its moment-to-moment stealth: it clearly shows you enemy pathways, its top-down perspective quickly gives you a handle on what you can do and when, and it’s mechanically simple, which eliminates the need to execute grand schemes Read More
The line-drawing genre has long been dominated by Firemint's outstanding Flight Control [$0.99 / HD]. It is the standard by which all similar games are inevitably judged, and with good reason -- it's the granddaddy of the genre. But maybe there's room for new games in the market, and in our hearts. It's been over two years since Flight Control was released. Could it be time for a break, time to see other line-drawing games? If so, you won't go wrong with Chillingo and Infinite Degree's Pollen Count [$0.99 / HD]. It's a game that didn't sell me with screenshots or trailers -- the art is a bit clumsy -- but it comes through where it counts. By drawing a line on screen from bee A to point B, you direct your bees to collect pollen from flowers and deliver it to the hive. They need to reach both targets without Read More
'Real Racing' Series And 'Flight Control HD' Go On Sale
Calendar16 Mon, 04 Jul 2011 17:39:10 UTC +00:00
Some of the App Store’s best simulation racing games have received a price slashing as the US prepares to celebrate its independence with drink, food, and things that blow up and make pretty colors. For the third or fourth time only, the Real Racing series is up on the sale block, each title receiving an 80 percent to a 30 percent cut from standard price. You’ll not be wanting for a Grand Turismo-like experience on your little touch devices if you decide to grab one of these, as we’ve written in our respective reviews for these two outstanding iOS racing jams. If you’ve somehow missed , well, that’s on sale, too. Firemint dropped the price from $4.99 to $.99 for the next 48 hours alongside the Real Racing series. The PC and Mac version of the title on Steam is also on sale, if you’re interested in that. Sales are kind Read More
iOS developers have realized that there will probably be a whole lot of iPad 2 apps sold this weekend (since there will be so many new iPad 2s wandering around), so they've dropped prices on quite a few iPhone apps. AppAdvice has a good list up -- EA's apps are in there, including Mirror's Edge and the recently released Dead Space, and Firemint's Flight Control HD is down to a buck this weekend. Minigore HD is also on sale for a dollar, definitely worth a purchase if you haven't grabbed it yet. Bulkypix is also putting most of its iPad games on sale, though that sale doesn't start until tomorrow morning. I doubt this is the last we'll see of these sales -- there's going to be a pretty big rush for the top apps lists in iTunes this weekend, as developers try to take advantage of the incoming flood of Read More

But it looks like the stable, long-lived iPad has overcome some of these limitations, and may just be coming to a commercial flight near you. This one comes as a shock. In an age where gargantuan mega-corporations are gobbling up smaller development studios for prices reaching into the tens and hundreds of millions, everyone seems to want to play the guessing game of who the next acquisition will be. But I don't think this one crossed anybody's mind. Australian developer Firemint, who have been making games for over a decade but struck it big with their iOS titles Flight Control [99¢/Lite/HD] and Real Racing [$4.99/Lite/HD] in 2009, and more recently with Real Racing 2 [$9.99] in 2010, have struck a deal to buy fellow Aussie developer Infinite Interactive, who have existed for twice as long as Firemint and are most widely known for their Puzzle Quest series. The juicy details regarding pricing weren't disclosed, but it sounds like a happy venture for all parties involved. Infinite Interactive will consolidate its team into Firemint's in their newly Read More
The App Store can be a silly place. Looking over the past year in games, trends have become incredibly apparent. One developer releases a hit game, which then causes everyone else to take notice, often using that hit title as inspiration for their own project. We've seen it time and time again, and even Imangi Studios' previous chart-topping game Harbor Master [$1.99 / Free / HD] leaned heavily on Flight Control [99¢ / HD] for the basis of their own twist on the line drawing genre. When we first saw Max Adventure [99¢], it was in secret at GDC at a time when it seemed like everyone and their grandmother was hard at work making a dual stick shooter. The game showed some serious potential, but I had no clue how Imangi was going to compete in the increasingly crowded dual stick shooter market and how Max Adventure would stand up Read More
It should go without saying that Firemint’s Flight Control has got to be one of the first and most popular titles on both the iPhone and iPad and the team continues to deliver quality updates to the game. Today, Firemint has once again delivered a much needed update along with a surprising one. A new update just hit the App Store for Flight Control that finally brings online multiplayer to the game through Game Center. You’ll be able to invite a friend to play, or if you lack any Game Center friends, you can easily pick up a game with a random stranger who is also itching to land planes with a fellow Flight Control player. Firemint has also broken one major barrier I was waiting to be broken and that’s allowing in-game voice chat. By default, in-game voice chat is turned off, so you’ll need to enable it in order Read More
Last month we posted some news about an impending update to Flight Control HD [$4.99] that would add an online multiplayer mode to coincide with the introduction of iOS 4.2 and Game Center to iPads. As planned, just a couple of days after iOS 4.2 was introduced several weeks back, the update to Flight Control HD was released. Earlier today, the original Flight Control [99¢] for iPhone and iPod touch played catch up to its HD sibling and received a similar update adding online multiplayer using Apple's Game Center. The multiplayer mode in Flight Control is actually quite a lot of fun. For those who haven't played it before, one player takes control of the red commercial planes and the other player controls the biplanes and helicopters. As you land the aircraft you're responsible for, you simultaneously send your opponents aircraft off the edge of your own screen to appear onto Read More
After implementing the Game Center functionalities in the iPad version of Flight Control (Flight Control HD), Firemint wants to bring the same multiplayer blessing to other games it makes. Obviously, their next target is Flight Control for the iPhone and iPod Touch, which will get the mentioned update in no time (due Christmas). The same [multiplayer] feature is coming to Real Racing, allowing up to four players to race one another. Moreover, Firemint talks about the option that would allow users to restore unlocked content if their progress doesn’t match the data synced up to Firemint’s Cloudcell service. Finally, the gaming company also mentioned Real Racing 2, though not revealing much due to licensing deals with car makers. We know it will be available for both the iPhone and iPad users, but we don’t have any dates to share. In the meantime, if you don’t have some of the games mentioned, Read More
Firemint's Flight Control HD coming to Mac App Store
Calendar16 Thu, 21 Oct 2010 05:45:00 UTC +00:00
The dust hasn't even settled in the wake of Apple's announcement of the Mac App Store, but one well-known developer is already on board. Firemint, creator of Flight Control for the iPhone/iPod touch and Flight Control HD for the iPad, has announced it will bring Flight Control HD to the Mac via the Mac App Store. As a matter of fact, according to Firemint, Flight Control HD is already running on the Mac. Firemint may be the first company to publicly announce support for the Mac App Store, but it's unlikely to be the last. As Erica noted earlier, a centralized hub for app distribution on Mac OS X is something many developers will find very attractive, in spite of the more restrictive environment as compared to the free-for-all market that exists now. Many developers won't find the Mac App Store to be a good fit for them and will stick Read More
By Kyle Flanigan on September 8th, 2010 Flight Control for iPhone and iPod Touch surpasses three million sales - $3814.67 on average per day. Eighteen months ago, the then-little-known developer company Firemint published Flight Control – a game where you land increasing quantities of planes on runways with a limited amount of space both on the ground and in air. It was awarded five stars across the board by 148Apps, as well as the Editor’s Choice badge. Today, Firemint has announced that sales of Flight Control have passed the three million mark – on average, a little over 5500 copies a day are bought by new users for their iPhone or iPod Touch. At $0.99 a piece, with developers earning 70% of revenue, that totals just under $2.1 million for Firemint’s work – or, to put it another way, $3814.67 a day. In other statistics, some two billion planes have been Read More

In the hit-based market of the App Store, it's somewhat expected at this point to see developers building games which seem to be highly inspired by other extremely successful games-- In this case, Angry Birds [99¢ / Free / HD]. When Flight Control [99¢ / HD] was burning up the charts, Harbor Master [$1.99 / Free / HD] was released, providing some variety on an incredibly popular game type which iPhone gamers gobbled up at the time. It's hard to say if Cannon Cadets will be able to duplicate the same phenomenon, but judging by the trailer it seems to have some very familiar physics-powered cannon gameplay with some new twists such as moving platforms and hidden levels accessible by hitting targets. As someone who has completely obliterated every level of Angry Birds on both my iPhone and then again on the iPad, I can't wait for more content both from Read More

WWDC 2010: Firemint's app success
Calendar16 Fri, 11 Jun 2010 16:00:00 UTC +00:00
We've met up with the folks from Firemint before -- back at GDC, they were kind enough to show us Real Racing on the iPhone and share their plans for the iPad. Just a few months later we've found them at WWDC with the extremely popular Flight Control HD and an Apple Design award for Real Racing HD. When we talked with Firemint's community manager Alexandra Peters this week, she was quiet on their future plans. What they don't want to do, she told us, is put pressure on themselves. In addition to all of their success on the App Store, both of Firemint's apps are also playing on iPads in Apple Stores, and all of that exposure for their first iOS titles means whatever they do next has some big shoes to fill. Firemint is flattered by the Design Award, Peters told us, but she admits it "may have added Read More

Read More
The iPad Is Da/Arrivé/Here/Qui – Here Is How To Start
Calendar16 Fri, 28 May 2010 12:30:14 UTC +00:00
There you go, Apple has officially launched the iPad in 9 new countries today. Well, the iPad actually didn’t wait on Apple to go around the world, and one in four iPads bought in the US has already flown the country by now. Also, an important amount of pre-orders has already been delivered early throughout the week, so the launch is not really that much of a massive event. Anyway, for our international readers who just got their iPad, here is some help for you. Short after unpacking and starting the device, you’re going to feel like you don’t know what to do with it. This feeling is not going to leave right away as it takes a couple days to get used to this new toy. What you’re going to need are apps, and that’s where the fun starts: I would tell you to start with some free apps, so you Read More

Firemint has issued a content-rich update to Flight Control for iPhone that adds a brand new map with a new mechanic, brighter colors, and a safe fast forward button.  Did you really think you could kick that Flight Control addiction so easily? The new map, titled Windy Airfield, requires you to keep an eye on the wind sock located in the middle of the map.  As the wind changes, runways will close and reopen, forcing you to reroute all of the planes that were headed to each one until the wind changes direction again.  Planes that were already on their approach will finish the landing process, however. Firemint has also implemented the popular “safe fast-forward” function found in the iPad version of the game.  Now when you first tap the fast-forward button, it will go into safe mode, which will automatically bring the game back down to its normal speed if a Read More
Line drawing games on the iPhone were a hit. When first released for the iPhone, Flight Control had just one map, and yet it sold like hotcakes, spiking up the charts quickly, and gaining a large fan-base quickly. It was just perfect for the touch screens, and quickly a lot of line drawing games showed up, making it a genre. Now on a much bigger screen, it just gets better and better. More space, HD maps, and a 3D one. This game couldn’t be better. Recap What makes Flight Control so popular? It’s just perfect for the touch screen devices. On the maps you have some runways, each with a different color. From all over the screen planes will spawn, and you have to direct them to the corresponding runway. They say air traffic controllers have the most stressful job, and so is FC. Constantly you’ll hear a beep, meaning two Read More
Flight Control HD
Calendar16 Fri, 23 Apr 2010 20:20:36 UTC +00:00
Flight Control is one of the best selling line drawing games available for the iPhone and has now been brought, in all it's glory, over to the iPad. The game has been freshly updated to take advantage of the large screen space and brings some new features sure to please in parties or with a friend. The game has very much remained the same as far as gameplay is concerned. The player is still required to draw lines from the aircraft to their respective landing areas all while keeping them from crashing into each other which would end the game. But this new version of the game incorporates a much more robust multiplayer, an aspect that gives the genre some new light. Since the game is so similar, I really won't go into much of the gameplay. The game now allows for a seemingly unlimited amount of touches at once. This Read More
Quick review: Flight Control HD for iPad
Calendar16 Wed, 14 Apr 2010 11:47:32 UTC +00:00
By Georgia, Wednesday, Apr 14, 2010 | Firemint’s Flight Control HD for iPad [$4.99 - iTunes Link] let’s you try your luck at setting the flight path of dozens of aircraft and getting them to their designated landing areas. Seems simple but as the number and variety of airplanes and helicopters increase so does the difficulty — and the fun. They say air traffic control is one of the most stressful jobs in the world, and as we found out in our interview with Firemint at GDC, that’s exactly where the idea for the game came from. On the iPad, just like the iPhone, you use your finger to trace the path of the plane to its landing strip and ensure that it does not crash. You have 8 single player maps, 10 aircrafts and the choice of single play or multiplayer. Want to play a friend on the same iPad? Read More
CrunchGear Rates the Top 10 iPad Games

What a week. We’ve dug through a number of iPad games so far and have come up with only a few that truly satisfy. Whether you’re looking for RPGs or casual, mind-numbing oblivion, the iPad has it all and here are some of our favorites. Civilization Revolution ($12.99)- Oh Civ Rev. You’ve burned through my iPhone battery more times than I can count. I’m an absolute Civ fiend, so I was very pleased to see the new iPad version and aside from frequent crashes I think this version has a considerable leg up on the iPhone version, especially thanks to the larger screen. The automatic save system is a lifesaver because the app will – and does crash. 2K definitely needs to fix the stability issues. Fieldrunners HD ($7.99) – I spent a few sleepless nights with Fieldrunners and the HD version adds little to the tried and true tower defense Read More
Let’s set aside the question of whether you should get an iPad and suppose you already bought one last weekend. You probably floated home and loaded it with a few whiz-bang apps and maybe even passed it around to your friends. At some point in all the euphoria, you may also have wondered whether this device is just a trophy or something you can actually use. Such self-doubts can be easily cast aside, providing you delve a little more deeply into the App Store than the Top 100 list — and are ready to open the wallet again. If you budget around $100 for a few new and upgraded apps, you can easily make the iPad into much more of a constant companion than something you just trot out when the neighbors are watching. Start with productivity apps, because a mobile device is most valuable when it lets you work anytime, Read More
PopCap, BigOven.com among those with top selling iPad apps
Calendar16 Wed, 07 Apr 2010 20:25:09 UTC +00:00
Apple's iPad hasn't even been out a week, so I'll grant you that it is a little early to be doing a deep analysis on who the winners and losers are in the app store. But I was interested to learn that two of the top 25 selling applications for the new touchscreen device -- at least as of this afternoon -- were developed by Seattle startups. PopCap Games currently ranks 14th in the paid apps category for its $9.99 game "Plants vs. Zombies HD." And not too far behind is BigOven, which ranks 24th with its app "170,000 Recipes and Grocery List." "It's pretty early to be touting stats/factoids," said PopCap's Garth Chouteau. "But you could certainly say that between the iPad launch and continuing success of the iPhone adaptation, (Plants vs. Zombies) is our hottest App Store/iTunes product of 2010 -- so far. Not bad considering Bejeweled 2/iPhone continues Read More
Top 11 iPad Games You Need To Be Playing
Calendar16 Mon, 05 Apr 2010 21:54:56 UTC +00:00
The release of the iPad is finally upon us. Some of you were sitting at home, sipping your morning cup ‘o joe when your friendly FedEx man came by to drop off your iPad, while others sat outside of your local Apple Store on a milk crate for a week straight eating nothing but Doritos and Mountain Dew. Regardless of how you obtained your iPad, the important thing is that you have it. I posted an article on Friday showcasing games that were readily available for purchase on the App Store. The list covered a lot of great games from equally great publishers, but it lacked something important: My own personal picks! That’s right, this here article is a way for me to share with you what games I’ve played and recommend to new iPad owners. So without further ado, let’s get down to business. You’ve probably already heard of Flight Control. It’s one of the most popular games in the AppStore and has been downloaded/purchased for more than 2 million times. We’ve no doubts its iPad counterpart will be a success as well, but here’s a twist – the version of the game for Apple’s tablet, Flight Control HD, will be used by Airservices Australia to train Aussie air traffic controllers! Reuters had a chance to interview Airservices Australia’s PR director Michael Arbroath, who said: “Flight Control HD is quite popular amongst our air traffic controllers as a breaktime activity. After a while it dawned on us that guiding little computer planes is very similar to landing real big planes, particularly with regard to what we like to call the golden rule: Never let the planes collide.” Speaking of popularity of Flight Control among Australia’s air traffic controllers, one of them, Ned Kelly, now leads Read More
Alright, so here's the deal- The amount of iPad games out there on day one is beyond overwhelming. In the interest of getting something up on the site, here's some brief first impressions of the games we're going through as quickly as possible. Right now we kind of feel like kids in a candy store with hundreds of different kinds of candy while thousands of people stand outside with their face plastered against the window yelling "How does it taste?!" We'll likely do in-depth coverage of most of the games that stand out, but for the time being, if you just got home with an iPad and are totally lost with where to start you can follow along with us going through these games. These aren't in any kind of order, rather, these are just the games that jumped out at us first. Real Racing HD, $9.99 - One of the Read More
Flight Control HD live on the iPad

If there's a breakout game for the iPad already, it's probably Flight Control HD -- the game was announced a while ago (we talked about it with Firemint back at GDC), but the title has stayed in the top 10 pretty consistently since the iPad's App Store went live yesterday. Firemint has finally dropped the embargo on the title this morning, and you can see the game above -- it's basically the same game as the iPhone version, except bigger, clearer, and with a little more space for the plane-landing chaos. That allows for a few new gameplay variations, including co-op multiplayer on the same iPad, a split-screen versus mode, new bigger airfields (and a Snow airfield with variable wind direction), and one more interesting little feature: 3D. Yes, Flight Control HD has an anaglyphic image effect going on with one of the airfields. You'll have to procure your own red/cyan Read More

It looks like we’re officially at the home stretch for tomorrow’s release of the Apple iPad as we’re now within 24 hours of its release.  If you’ve taken the plunge and are counting down the hours until its release, this may very well be the longest couple of hours you’ve ever felt in your life.  But hold on.  Have you even thought about what apps you plan on downloading for your new bundle of joy?  More importantly, what GAMES will you be wasting countless hours on your couch playing? Apple flipped the switch yesterday to allow iPad apps to be visible on iTunes.  The thing is, there are already a ton of games available for the iPad, and it hasn’t even launched!  That’s where your ole Uncle Danny comes in.  I’ve taken the liberty of scouring the App Store for any and every iPad game you should have your eyes set Read More
If you're anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new iPad, you might want to head over to the app store, where a couple thousand iPad apps are already available for purchase. You can shop now, and sync with the iPad when it arrives. However, the question is what to buy? The current top sellers are Apple's iWork apps: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, so you'll get no help from that list. Instead, check out this crop of must-have apps that are already in the store and ready to be installed on day one. My picks ended up being equal parts free and paid apps, proving that you don't need to spend a fortune to equip the shiny new device you've already spent a fortune on. I wrote about the possibility of a Netflix streaming video app earlier this week, and now it's actually available in the store. It's definitely a must-have for Read More

Published: April 2, 2010 Comment         For those lucky readers getting iPads this weekend, here’s a selection of games you should be playing. You might want forgo the chocolate eggs this Easter and save those pennies. Up-rezzed version of the popular racing game. Don’t expect anything new other than improved graphics. If you already own the game for iPhone or iPod Touch you’ll have to by it again to see it in HD. That or you can run it in x2 resolution. Expect to pay an extra few bucks for HD goodness. Check out our review of the iPhone version here. One of the best FPS’s on iPhone. Apart from better graphics, it’s hard to see how the increased screen real estate will improve the game, and if the controls will cause hand cramps. All will be revealed on the 3rd. The original iPhone review can be found here. Last Read More
By Rene Ritchie, Friday, Apr 2, 2010 | What with the leaks and every pre-review worth its salt using Real Racing to show off some iPad gaming, it’s hardly a secret that Firemint is going all in on Apple’s new platform, and they’re bringing Flight Control along for the ride — in 3D! Real Racing HD [$9.99 - iTunes link] is just what you’d expect, accelerometer driven, OpenGL fueled racing on that big 1024×768 iPad screen and it looks glorious. All the graphics have been upscaled and you can skin cars with images from Photo Album for even more fun. You can also export, edit, and even get skins from Firemint.com. There’s Ghost Racing so you can go up against pre-recorded or downloaded performances — your best race or a top online driver, and they’ll show up in Online League races as well. And everything is there from the iPhone version Read More

Excellent Evolution of the iPhone Application
Tyson Edwards 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Please note that I said 'evolution', as Flight Control for the iPad is very much a different game from on the iPhone and iPod Touch. All along, Flight Control has allowed for multitouch, however given the screen size of the iPhone, I was only ever comfortable with at most two fingers directing planes. Even then, it became awkward as doing so obstructed over a quarter of the screen. The way that several of the new maps were designed on the iPad version of Flight Control, it is very comfortable for me personally to grab 6 planes at once, direct them into a quick holding pattern, and then using both hands guide them into their respective runways. In many ways, Flight Control on the iPad is much more fun on the iPad simply because there is much more real estate to work with. On top of that, the developers have created great new maps that allow for collaborative play on the same screen, making for a terrific experience. The amount of thought put into this type of game is great and it is obvious that Firemint didn't simply up their texture qualities for the new game but found ways to adapt to best make use of the new platform.
Same game play as the iPhone.

I just can't believe how these developers are charging more money for the same app (as the iphone) with better graphics and insignificant add-ons. Existing customers should be eligible for a free upgrade or pay less for an upgrade!
This is going to be worth the price!
MrTGraz 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
I was on the fence about getting this until I read on a website there is going to be a snow feature AND a 3D feature! I cant wait to play this tomorrow! Its the beginning of the rest of our life!
If you only buy 1 game for your ipad it has to be this one!
digid2 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
This is my favorite game on my iphone, and was my first purchase on my ipad. I am not a game player, but I love this game. The version for the ipad blew me away when I loaded it up. Digid
One major flaw.
Dr. Blueberry 4.0 stars Version: 1.01
This game is worth buying. It truly shows off the features of the iPad. If you played on the iTouch/iPhone, you will be pleased with the iPad HD version. The wireless head-to-head play looks to be very kewel, I can't wit to try it. The one major feature missing on this and some other games is the ability to have multiple player accounts. I share my iPad with my wife and friends. It would be much better if we each could log in and accumulate different statistics. I am starting to see this feature in other games and miss it in this one, hence the missing star.
Great game, A bit too much tho
cudi121 4.0 stars Version: 1.01
Love the game, its fun to play but $4.99 is a bit to much. $2.99 would be ideal.
Graphics are beautiful!
SNRHBikini 4.0 stars Version: 1.01
HD! Such a fun game, and now stunning graphics on my iPad, making it even more addictive!!
Thumps up
SilentFrost 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
The iPad version is totally worth the price. 8 maps, improved controls, nice graphics... Now I just need to find some 3D glasses to check out the 3d map - love the idea.
More of the same - good or bad
SkahT 3.0 stars Version: 1.01
I'm not sold on the whole "charge more for iPad apps" thing. At $5 it doesn't do much more than the original did. Sure, it looks nicer, but it's essentially the same game just with more screen real estate. I got burned out on the iPhone version after a while and can see the same thing happening here. Also, the 3D level is very difficult to play due to the red/cyan glasses mucking with the plane/runway colors. I do like the 3D effect, but until I can tell all the colors apart I won't be playing it much. If you like the original then you'll like this one. If not then I don't think it will change your mind.
Okay
Tictac380 3.0 stars Version: 1.01
Fun, but def. not worth five bucks...
Great app, only one annoyance
Zak Soup 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
I love the iPhone version and the iPad version is even better. My only beef is the fugleh HD in the icon :'(
Best game for iPhone gets even better!
gopherhockey 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Flight control for the iPhone was one of the only games I would play. Firemint takes that same magic to the iPad and then some. Worth every penny! Addicting and fun for all.
The best game
Hersom 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Very smooth and great to play.
Finger Drawin' Awesome
Sluggo 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Aside from the horrendous "FlightCtrl HD" icon name, this takes one of my favorites to an amazing new level on the iPad. Fix the name and I'll die happy.
Totally addictive
Wayne in NJ 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Everyone in the family is addicted to this game. I'm actually getting kind of frustrated, because my wife keeps jogging my new iPad. I wanna play! :) Nice job. Very polished.
Flight Control has landed
MX Titan 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Every bit as fun as the original and then some. Also, very nice to see such a great game priced so modestly. I am loving my new iPad more than you can imagine but not the overpriced apps that come along with it. Flight Control has been good to me and I can promise you will not regret buying it.
This is how you upgrade an app!
Lucasw 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
Loved this game on my iPhone, and love it even more now on the iPad.....it's worth buying the new version, and way more challenging.
Good on iPhone, better on iPad!
p1ctureman 5.0 stars Version: 1.01

Really solid
lal480 5.0 stars Version: 1.01

A fun little game with some cool extra features - like 3D map :-) Easy to learn, hard to master.
Bigger really is better
xJac 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
The iPhone version is great, but on the iPad my wife and I can play co-op simultaneously. It's genius!
What a game should be: FUN!
Paul in MN 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
I liked playing the iPhone version at double size just fine. I balked at paying another five bucks. But you know what? Worth it. So worth it! This game is a delight. It had my parents, my sweetheart and me entranced for an hour — no kidding! — trading the iPad around and reaching over to save each other when things got hairy. Yes, Virginia, it supports multitouch, and the iPad screen is big, so multiple people can collaborate. It creates a sort of collaborative mayhem dynamic very reminiscent of Super Mario Wii, and it is fabulous. We had to tear ourselves away.
Worth the $$
Teh Sirhc 4.0 stars Version: 1.01
I loved the iPhone version of this game so when i got my iPad this is one of the first apps i bought. The iPad version is AMAZING!!! The extra screen real estate completely changes the game experience for the better. Multitouch is actually useful now with the larger screen, and much more complex holding patterns and landing paths are possible. The new maps and multiplayer (coop and versus) on the same device using split screen is fantastic. Money well spent. I highly recommend this game.
Fantastic Game on the iPad
I Eat Ferns 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
A must have for anyone with an iPad. I loved this on the iPhone. It's 5X better on the iPad.
Lots of fun and good price.
R2D2 xx 5.0 stars Version: 1.01
What's so fun about landing some planes? It's the challenge. At the start of the game, the are only a few planes to land. As the game progresses, more and more planes come into the airspace and the game gets very challenging. This is one of my favorite games in the app store and the price is good.
