Calendar16 Fri, 21 Oct 2011 13:38:39 UTC +00:00
If you travel frequently, keeping track of all your flights, hotels and car trips can be made easier using a few different iPhone apps that consolidate all that information in one easy to access location. These iPhone apps are great because not only do they give you a dashboard for your flight information, but they also help you keep track of changes to your trips and easily input your information into the apps. Price: $3.99 TripIt is hands down the best trip and itinerary app for the iPhone. This is not only because TripIt offers a great application but also due to the unique service that TripIt provides which helps you automatically create trips using your confirmation emails. Don't miss these Travel stories As usual, It's a Snap fans submitted stunning photos from their travels. Check out this week's gallery and vote for your favorite. ON THE MOVE Organize your itinerary:TripIt is the easiest way to consolidate all your travel details—flights, hotels, cars, events—on one site. Just forward your confirmation e-mails to plans@tripit.com and the site will instantly pull the relevant info and build your itinerary. The app includes basic flight tracking, terminal maps, driving directions, and airplane-seat advice (good for Android, BlackBerry, and iPhone; free); the Pro service adds loyalty-program tracking and recommends other flights if yours is canceled ($69 per year). Though a bit slower to upload your trip details, TripCase works in a similar manner and automatically adds itineraries booked through a Sabre Read More
Let’s set aside the question of whether you should get an iPad and suppose you already bought one last weekend. You probably floated home and loaded it with a few whiz-bang apps and maybe even passed it around to your friends. At some point in all the euphoria, you may also have wondered whether this device is just a trophy or something you can actually use. Such self-doubts can be easily cast aside, providing you delve a little more deeply into the App Store than the Top 100 list — and are ready to open the wallet again. If you budget around $100 for a few new and upgraded apps, you can easily make the iPad into much more of a constant companion than something you just trot out when the neighbors are watching. Start with productivity apps, because a mobile device is most valuable when it lets you work anytime, Read More
The time for Macworld Expo 2010 is upon us and the handiest tool you’ll bring to San Francisco with you is, of course, your iPhone. What apps should you install on your phone to enhance your Macworld experience? The iMacworld is a handy guide for navigating the show floor and planning your day. iMacworld, featuring maps and a show directory, was just recently updated for 2010, so jump onboard. For those who don’t travel often, favorite airport amenities frequently change and may be difficult to find. You’ve got 30 minutes between flights and can’t play “Where’s Waldo” to find your favorite coffee dispensary. Did Peet’s moved to gate 12 from gate 18? Gate Guru can help. Additionally, the app has a review function so if you aren’t sure where to eat, let the wisdom of crowds guide you. The interface is a bit clunky as you can’t search by airport, only by Read More
By Staff, Monday, Nov 30, 2009 | Every week a few of us from team TiPb, bloggers and forum crew alike, will bring you our current favorite, funnest, most useful App Store apps, WebApps, jailbreak apps, even the occasional accessory, web site, or desktop app if the mood strikes us. As long as they’re iPhone (or iPod touch) related, they’re fair game. So who’s on deck this week and what are our picks? Find out after the break! This week I am picking Q Entertainment’s Lumines. This game came out a little while ago with poor fanfare due to the horrible controls. Good news? There is now and update that fixes these issues and this game is now a pleasure to play. You even have in-app purchasing for additional theme packs. The music is not as good as the original IMO, but still fun!! [$2.99 - iTunes link] BitFlip is a Read More

First Look: Travel organizer Tripit.com offers iPhone app
Calendar16 Sun, 12 Apr 2009 05:30:00 UTC +00:00
Do you travel a lot for business or pleasure? If you do, then you'll find the new free iPhone app (click opens iTunes) from Tripit.com to be a great way to organize your trip plans. Tripit.com imports and interprets your itineraries from airlines, hotel chains, ticket outlets, and other travel companies. When you receive an itinerary from one of these providers, you forward it to a special Tripit email address to have it translated into a trip plan automatically (the site supports hundreds of travel providers, and the translation from email into structured itinerary is really quite amazing). You can share your travel plans with friends or colleagues via LinkedIn, and see when your fellow travelers are heading to a city near you or when their plans align with yours. That collection of trip plans is what you view with the Tripit.com app. The app is linked to your Tripit.com account, Read More

Fully tested - NOT worth the money
kiniku 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
To gain the main benefit and actually use this app you have to email your intinerary to another service. Afterwards it then shows up on your iPhone. So I gave FT Pro the acid test. I was trying to fly to Boston during the February '09 east coast snow storm that hit from Atlanta to Maine. My flight was changed several times but my confirmation number remained the same. If I didn't send an email each time my flights changed the app would not update So it was pretty much rendered useless. One would think a featured flight program would automatically adapt to changing flight plans. Also the flight map feature only works for flights that are "enroute". Well if you're on that flight guess what, your phone doesn't work anyway. So that feature is pretty much useless unless you're wanting to watch someone else's flight. As a frequent flier I thought this App would be a boon to my iPhone. But as it stands it really doesn't do much more than an emailed intinerary from your airline does. Wait the airline does better. If you have notifications properly setup with them then they will call your phone and provide you updates if/when your flights change. Definitely not worth the money.
Whole new level of flight tracking
NWPilot17 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've tried a number of other apps for tracking flights, but I have always preferred FlightTrack. And TripIt itself is great (and free!). Because of its integration with TripIt, FlightTrack Pro takes iPhone flight tracking to an entirely new level for ease-of-use and funcionality. FlightTrack Pro is well worth the cost. Because I am a very frequent traveler, this app saves me a huge amount of time. The rest of FT Pro is great too--weather, route maps, flights in the US and US to elsewhere and international flights not beginning or ending in the US, airport weather, etc. This is the kind of tool that really makes my iPhone with having. FlightTrack email support has been excellent (fast and answers my questions), so I am guessing that FlightTrack Pro will be too. I highly recommend this app!
Great but costs too much
caa100 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Bought this on an impulse while standing in the mobile lounge at Dulles airport because "Flights" from SplashData was giving me trouble. FlightTrack pro works great, fast, has more info, and looks way nicer. The sychronization with tripit is handy. 5 stars. BUT it is way too pricy for what it does. The standard version is better priced, tho you will need to enter flights manually. . I hope that this pro version will eventually offer more features to earn it's premium. I'd like to see the rest of my tripit itinerary, alternate flights, seatguru info, etc.
This one delivers the goods
ymatto 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
I've tried more flight tracking apps that I can count, but this is the one I've settled on now. The UI is clean, the data it uses is remarkably complete and accurate, there are no holes in functionality (gates? check. international tracking? check.), and it has automatic email itinerary processing through syncing with Tripit.com that actually works. The developer even helpfully lets you view an iPhone-formatter Tripit.com webpage from within FlightTrack Pro so you can view full details of your travel (hotel, rental car, etc.). $10 is a bargain for this if you are a frequent traveller.
Finally! Automated itinerary entry that works.
spellegrin 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is my third paid flight app. The first one required manual flight entry via an awkward UI. The second promised that I could forward my flight confirmation emails to them for processing, but it never worked. Now comes FlightTrack Pro. Good UI, email processed correctly first time. The additional features available through TripIt are a nice bonus. This could be the flight app of my dreams.
Love it
Trolley34 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Works like a charme. All I need. Once tasted blood I would nonetheless like to see the other (non flight related) travel information, too, like rental cars and hotels. Not necessarily on the flight page to avoid clutter but maybe on a second page for reference only. I mean, the information is there (in tripit) anyway, isn't it?
Great Product for those who travel a lot especially connecting flights
jneubarth 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Nothing better than sitting on the runway after landing in ATL and finding out that despite what my boarding pass says, my next flight is not at gate T1 but leaves from E32. this program does a great job of giving you real time gate info and also providing flight info while my colleagues are in the air. This truly is a great program and the link with Tripit is just another step in the right direction. I look forward to future enhancements and am excited to see where this program ends up. That being said, if you fly like me (150k+ miles a year) you'd be crazy not to buy this
Some features that would be great
Bherold 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
- drop off old flights - add boarding times - add alarm option for notifying of boarding and issues
Works well for current flights
hadtomakeupaname 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
Future flight itinerary information is not displayed unless within 3 days of trip.
Pro is magnificent
Swamee 1.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is just what i have been lookig for. Works great. - just as they said it would. Congratulations and Thanx.
great
ripdogger 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
like that it seemlessly works with tripit!
FlightTrack Pro
Blackjack61 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
I found that I had a problem with the software working properly. I contacted there support and got a response from Ben. He worked with me until he solved the issue. The issue was in the download and not the program. It works great and does what it is intended to do. More software companies need to take some customer support lessons from Ben.
FINALLY
mozartt 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This program is fabulous! FlightStatus and TravelTracker are now obsolete.
Very nice
Welchwold 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
The integration with TripIt is really nice. Seems to work well. I had the "non pro" flighttrack, and the tracking seemed to work well with that app (tested with many delayed flights...) so I assume that works as well here.
Love it!
Alikhanh 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Just bought. Spent 3 minutes with it and love it already. I'm on a flight. Plugged in the flight number and it told me that my flight was 5 minutes behind schedule. Fast and shows you exactly what you need. Must have for the traveller.
Fantastic application
Army Drummer 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Really great interface and easy too use. Integration with TripIt works really well.
This Rules
Atkinson 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Great support from the developer, I had a small issue and there was any update within 24 hours. This program is so well designed if you travel go with the Pro version it is worth the addition dollars!
Phenomenal Design, Perfect Execution
iPhone6328 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Most apps on the App Store are crap, but this one's a gem. Well worth $10.
Good App with Potential for Great
nickandnyla 4.0 stars Version: 1.0
I love the full automation I have with this. Whenever I book a trip online and the email confirmation comes to me, i have an outlook rule that forwards it to tripit, which automatically loads into my iphone. I'm always driving to the airport trying to determine my gate #, delayed status etc.
Okay, but overpriced
tknx 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
Frankly this program is just so-so. It is nowhere near what WorldMate offers on other platforms. It is nice for what it does but not really all that big of a deal versus just using TripIt's mobile site.
I love it
tony0702 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
It is great but, it can be better. How? It would be great if you added the seat # for every flight and also the hotel and rental car info. I know the purpose of the app is to track flights, but, once you're sincing with tripit, it would be easy to retrive the hotel and rental car info. This would make this app unbelievably great. The way it is now, it makes me check the rest of my trip [hotel / rental car] in my PC or another mobile. I would love you if you could take a step further.
Perfect
King122112 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Very good... Some add up suggestions will be to route all international flights on map, alarm feature, and more airlines. However, so far the best out there!!!
Needs to be able to track hotel and rental car info from tripit
frogbiter 3.0 stars Version: 1.0
great app. I love it. the Tripit integration is the killer feature and the only reason I use this app over all others. the only problem is that it does not track rental car or hotel information from tripit. Now, I know that this is a FLIGHT tracking program so I probably shouldn't complain -- but given that this app already has the connections to tripit built in, how much harder would it be to pull in the hotel and rental car info from tripit?
Inaccurate at times
sarjoun 2.0 stars Version: 1.0
The synchronization with TripIt is not always accurate. Some flights are dropped, and departure/arrival times are often wrong or not in the local time zone.
Excellent Application!
BusinessTraveler 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
As someone that puts 150K miles plus on airplanes a year, finding this application was a stroke of luck. I've loaded in several of my upcoming trips in TripIt, and having the information on my iPhone - especially the detail regarding gate information - is worth the price of the application itself. But even better ... when I had a question regarding the application, my email to Appropos was answered within minutes. I'm now recommending this to my friends - both the application and the company behind it.
Waste
Peter5364 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
Just wasted $9.99. Flight status is much better - it remembers searched airports for one. Most importantly, flight status is much cheaper. Can I get my money back please?
Save your Money
Wbritt 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
Save your Money, this application should be free. I have used it with Tripit (great application) and my second flight which shoulds are departing today does work. When I click on it, I get a message saying the flight will be available three day before departure (I think today is three days before).. The Maps are useless. You can only track a flight when it is in the air (can't use phones on the plane no connections). So Save your Money....
Not worth the price
Identity Thief 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
While this app does everything it says it does, and does them fairly well - there is a LOT left to be desired.
Could Be GREAT; but..
SupplyChainGuy 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
I don't get it. You have partnered with TripIt, which can manage Air, HOTEL, and RENTAL CAR reservations. And you only use the AIR portion??? So now we all must still carry around paper copies of reservations AND our iPhone???
Some features that would be great
Bherold 2.0 stars Version: 1.1
- drop off old flights - add boarding times - add alarm option for notifying of boarding and issues Still not updating flights sometimes until next day! When websites, monitors are all updated! I can't rely on it.
Almost excellent, crippled by time zone changes
colinatumd 3.0 stars Version: 1.1
I have no problem with the $10 price tag. We're accustomed to free or $1 apps, but this is easily worth the cost of a couple of lattes ... or at least it would be, if the flight synchronization with TripIt were not crippled by moving from one time zone to another. When I changed time zones (by 3 hours), all of my future flight times were also changed by 3 time zones, although the flights had previously been displayed accurately in local time. Worse yet, once the times were wrongly displayed, the synchronization and tracking functions no longer worked for those flights. I wrote to customer support, who claim to be aware of the problem and working on it. Since this app caters to frequent travelers, this seems like the kind of fundamental problem that should merit an immediate solution ... or refunds.
Delayed info
ameliaaa 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
The updates are 20 to 30 minutes mdelayed, so not much use. Worse information than you can get on the airport monitors. I had high hopes but this app Looks best for non travelers who want to see flight paths.
Don't buy this version
leesherman06 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
In this version all the bagage claims Were wrong. It told me I had a 30 min delay but it left 2 mins ealy. Very delayed. Hope it gets better has potential to improve.
Get TravelTracker instead!
Dooglave 1.0 stars Version: 1.1
TravelTracker does more and better.
Tripit! integration makes this a must have 5 STAR application!
ApolloEagle 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Wow, this is what mobile computing is about. Taking several services, and marrying them together on the iPhone. Before Tripit! I felt the 9.99 price tag was a bit high, but with the ease of Tripit built in, this is a great application! Must buy for the leisure traveler and the road warrior!
Finally a good travel app
TexAustin 5.0 stars Version: 1.1
Good app. Finally an application where you don't have to enter your travel plans by hand/keyboard. Hurray for the TripIt integration. Now in the next release if they integrate hotel and rent-a-car, we have a GRAND SLAM.
Fantastic App
CaymanCasey 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
This is a great app! I love the tracking map. It actually gives you the altitude and air speed so that when the plane is landing, you can follow it's progress. This is a must have if you or family members travel.
A Pro App That is Built off of a Great App
Nate-OMG 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
There is no other app that has as many fetures in such a nice EASY TO USE package.
Awesome app
omar.s 5.0 stars Version: 1.0
Love the TripIt integration and simple authentication to TripIt. Please add support for viewing the whole TripIt trip.
Flight Track Pro
snowtigr 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
My favorite iPhone app - I've never had a problem with it updating and having the gate information is an excellent feature. Only flaw in this program is that does not pull in anyother info from your schedule at TripIt.
Works, but a little disappointing
nbeyer 3.0 stars Version: 1.2
I've only used this once so far and it does work, sort of. I used the integrated TripIt functionality to email my trip in an get it added, which worked great. However, once my travel day came, my flight was delayed both going and coming, but the flight data only updated AFTER the flights were over, which sort of negates the live status feature.
Great update -- still expensive
Steve Garrity 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
Glad that this now supports TripIt shared itineraries...much more useful.
Save you money
AlphaOtter 1.0 stars Version: 1.2
Worthless tool. I am sitting at the gate and this app refuses to display any data telling me to wait 3 days. It NEVER displays delays or cancellations until hours after they post at airport or airlines website. Immature app that is no where near realtime or accurate. For the 100% road warrior, this tool is worthless.
Deleted application
Philc0128 1.0 stars Version: 1.2
This app does not update airline schedule changes. Too much to manage Tripit to keep this app updated. Save your money and use the airline websites..they're free and accurate!
Job well, but not done yet.
FireFish45 4.0 stars Version: 1.2
Easier & more seamless integration with expenses site, etc. $10 is a lot these days. People want to buy values. But if you're not price concious, you'll like it a lot when using with TripIt online. If you're not going to use tripit, get the free version.
Not quite there
Bse5 3.0 stars Version: 1.2
Nice interface. Unfortunately the flight information isn't timely, is sometimes wrong and the live maps don't work more than half the time. Not what you expect from an app at this price point.
Good App - lose the spam
Tvsquirrel 2.0 stars Version: 2.6
This app is great, but I was very offended to get pop ups spamming me to buy their other products in an app I paid ten dollars for.
Huge Flaw for TripIt users who Share Trips
caa100 3.0 stars Version: 2.6
This otherwise fantastic app is ruined by a major flaw. Ther is no way to distinguish between YOUR trips and those that were SHARED with you on TripIt. The result is a maddening mess.
Flight Track Pro
Brad from Holly Springs 4.0 stars Version: 2.6
Great app. I'll change the review to 5 stars when you remove the ads for your other apps. A 10 dollar app shouldn't have any ads.
Love this app
13lain 4.0 stars Version: 2.5
I'm a flight attendant and use this app every week. The accuracy has been amazing, I'd venture to guess its right on more than 90% of the time. I love the functionality with TripIt. I have an auto forward rule set up in my e-mail account so once I make my flight booking, all my flight information is automatically on my phone.
